This document summarizes interviews with three consultants about their work and perspectives on personal satisfaction. Steve Rainey is a management consultant who focuses on economic development in South Carolina. Brian Bayless is a process consultant for nuclear security who advises on plant security. Bob Mahony does internal consulting for fundraising at Clemson University. All three described their work helping clients solve problems using their expertise. They noted that effective communication, mutually agreeable outcomes, and not taking failures personally are keys to success and personal satisfaction as a consultant.
