2. OBJECTIVES
To know about the seed borne pathogen and seed
borne diseases of important economic crops.
To concern about the annual loss of crop production
by seed borne diseases.
To know about seed infection, their establishments
and seed borne plant infection.
To ensure about the seed health standard and field
health standard of notified seeds.
To know about the management or control of the seed
borne diseases.
3. SEED: Any plant part such as root ,stem,
leaf,bulb,rhizome etc.containing viable embryos
used as propagative unit or the fertilized
matured ovule constituting the genetic
potentiality capable of germination to produce
new plants for desired harvest is called seed.
4. SEED BORNE DISEASE
Any malfunctioning of host or plants
those results from continuous
irritation by a pathogenic agent which
are carried by seed and transferred to
the plants and leads to development
of symptoms are called seed borne
diseases.
