Here is a step by step explanation of how to get SNS notifications POSTed via Zapier to hundreds of different services.

1. Getting Amazon SNS into Zapier

3. Amazon SNS
Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) is a
web service that makes it easy to set up, operate,
and send notifications from the cloud.

other online services (services like Salesforce,
Basecamp, Gmail, and 201 more).

6. You need to have an active AWS
account and a Zapier account

7. We start by opening the AWS console. Select
SNS, and click “Create New Topic”

8. Give your new topic a descriptive name

9. Jot down the Topic ARN, you will soon need it.
Click “Create New Subscription”

10. Leave SNS for a while and go to Zapier

11. We start with a web hook trigger “Catch Hook”
and a web hook action “GET”

12. Select and Copy the Webhook URL, and
continue

13. Switching over to SNS

14. Paste the Webhook URL into the SNS
Endpoint, and click “Subscribe”

15. The subscription is Pending Confirmation.
Copy the ARN if you forgot it earlier

16. In Zapier, we will add a custom filter on the
ARN we copied from the console

17. The Zapier web hook is public, and you don’t
want just anyone posting stuff into your ZAP

18. SNS requires subscription confirmation by
invoking the subscription URL

19. Zapier is smart enough to do it for us via the
GET web hook

20. By trying out the Zap we invoke the
subscription URL. Send, DO NOT continue.

21. Back in AWS, refreshing the view shows the
active subscription. Click “Publish To Topic”

22. Let’s send a test message

23. The webhook action was temporary, just to
confirm the subscription

24. Now we change the Zap to the real action that
we actually need, a Gmail draft 

25. The Subject keyword took a few minutes to
show on the list, so I typed {{Subject}} instead

26. Enable your Zap

27. You can start publishing to the SNS topic,
either manually or via Amazon’s API
