Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes Raises Money and Awareness
1.
2. In operation for more than 25 years, Shoes
for Crews designs and creates anti-slip
footwear for use in the service, hospitality,
medical, and manufacturing industries.
Shoes for Crews is strongly committed to
corporate responsibility, actively working
with the local chapter of the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), an
organization whose mission is to eradicate
type 1 diabetes.
3. In addition to support and educational services, JDRF
offers a number of fundraising opportunities, such as
the Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes, an in-school program
aimed at educating students about diabetes and
helping them raise money for type 1 diabetes
research. The program involves an educational
presentation that teaches students about type 1
diabetes and type 2 diabetes, emphasizes the
importance of exercise and a healthy diet, and offers
tips for safe fundraising strategies. A few weeks later,
the school hosts a celebratory walk where students
are able to submit the funds they have raised.
Participating schools earn 10 percent of the total
money raised for JDRF to spend on items such as
books, field trips, or equipment.
