1. 250 Kms North of Manila
The only LGU in the far North of Luzon that has Sewerage System
Out of 129 barangays in the City, 65 barangays are served by the
City Sewerage System
64 Barangays rely on private and communal septic tanks
About 48% of the population of the city, resides near the head
waters of the Balili-Sagudin River
The rest live near the head waters of Ambalanga-Agno, Asin-
Galiano and Bued rivers
2. This is one of the green governance activities of the City in reply to the
necessity of mitigating the impact of Climate Change

Guardian of the Inland waterways
Goal : Protection and revitalizing the 4 vital river catchments:
Ambalanga-Agno, Bued, Asin-Gallano and Balili -Sagudin
3. Implemented by the City Government of
Baguio in 2012 to present thru: the City
Environment & Parks Management
Division(CEPMO)
Major activity of the City of Baguio in terms
of complying to the Balili-Sagudin River as
Water Quality Management Area(WQMA)
in compliance to the Clean Water Act/
Republic Act 9275.
In partnership and cooperation with the
academe, non government organizations,
business sector
In cooperation with the different City
Government Offices, community
organizations, national line agencies
4. Past:
Due to the rapid urbanization of the City of Baguio:
Disturbance and fear among residents during
rainy season
Reported lives and properties were lost
During rainy season, flooding was common in
lowland areas.
The river has turned into the disposal site of solid
and liquid wastes.
The easement of the waterways was sacrificed
for housing purposes by some sectors.
5. Present:
Ensuring high level of participation among
communities traversed by the river system
Ensure the sustainable green
governance(water governance of the City)
Guaranteeing sustainable action by all
stakeholders
Future:
Ensuring more partners(89-150) from all
sectors of the society to effect the sustainable
protection and revitalization of the rivers;
