e²gen Message Management Overview
e²gen message management (MM) is a multibank, multicurrency solution that provides 24 x 7 payments processing capabilities.
It provides an integrated user desktop for the management of all message types passing through your banking systems, such as
SWIFT or preparatory internal standards of an organisation.
The user desktop features a queuing and viewing environment, automatic message routing, processing and printing amongst
other functionality. Any messages that need to be manually created can be controlled as required.
Providing the foundation layer for the e²gen product range, MM integrates your Back Office System with third party applications

provide an intuitive and well commended auditing system.
e²gen Message Management communicates with industry standard message services such as SWIFT Alliance by the use of e²gen
gateway processes. Proprietary messages services are configurable. e²gen business processing modules integrate with MM

e²gen Toolkit
Taken together with MM the e²gen toolkit will empower your technical staff to build and maintain their own application
integration and the associated business processing. Full training is provided in the use of the Developer’s Toolkit, together with
hands on experience whilst building your own applications. The key components of the e²gen Toolkit and their functionalities
are outlined below.

1. Business Definitions Database – typically used to define and maintain institution specific messages or any industry
standard messages not supported by Aqua Global. Message standards are version dated, supplied and held in database
files. This gives the customer the advantage that no software updates arerequired to support any new standards.
Changes can be tested before the go-live date. After acceptance, migration to the live system follows and MM
automatically switches to using the new standards on the go live date. Industry standard Messages are supported by
Aqua Global with updates typically released 3 months prior to the go-live date.
2. Message Mapping Definitions – allow the translation of data between messages and interfaces. MM uses an internal
XML standard and all inward messages are translated to these. This allows common business processing to be applied
by e²gen and provides the ability to easily add new message formats without the need for extensive business process
re-engineering.
3. Execution Definitions – these are essentially business logic that drive the processing from its initiation to completion.
The definitions also contain the ability to:
o Steer the processing - depending upon a conditional requirement or values
o Suspend the processing - whilst waiting for a return or an action to be
o Halt the processing due to new exception condition - a user initiate a repair activity to a message for an
occurrence that has not previously been learned
4. Scan Definitions – used to determine conditional processing requirements. For example they can be used with process
specific data values either contained in messages, user defined tables or derived from your iSeries.
5. Workflow Engine – a powerful workflow engine is provided to control and monitor all processing. Workflows can be
initiated automatically using message status change triggers or specific business events or database activity. Manual
workflows are initiated and controlled via ‘User Processes’.
6. Application Program Interface (API) Collection – these are a collection of Aqua Global developed API’s used to derive
data values from ‘host’ application database files or book transactions into them. This information is used during
processing e.g. account numbers & securities indexes. Typically this information is used validate information contained
in received messages before creating formatting the postings. These ‘Adapter Programs’ allow a configurable bi-
directional integration with your back office system
