How to make an eportfolio using Google Sites for Grade 9 learners
1. HOW TO MAKE AN E-PORTFOLIO WITH GOOGLE SITES
OBJECTIVE
We are going to create our personal eportfolio. This web will display evidence of your
learning through the year.
Initially it is going to look like this https://sites.google.com/site/mrsamuelasv2013:

3. PREPARATION
1. Log into your google account
2. Download the zip file with all the images from
http://www.medmood.com/asv/mod/resource/view.php?id=9675
3. Extract the images into your folder (7zip Extract here)→

4. 1. CREATING THE SITE
1. Visit https://sites.google.com/
2. Click CREATE
3. Name your site with your name followed by ASV2013.
4. Click CREATE on the upper left corner.

The home page will look like this:
1. Press the pencil button to edit the home page
2. Place a brief description of yourself
3. Click Save. We will come back later to add the Grade 9 button.

6. 3. CREATING THE GRADE PAGE
Pages get created by default under the current page.
We want Home Grade 9 All the subjects (see below).→ →
1. On the home page, click the “New page” icon
2. Name the page “Grade 9” and select “Put page
under Home”
3. Click “Save” - we will edit it when we finnish
with all the subject pages.

7. 4. CREATING THE SUBJECT PAGES
For each subject:
1. On the GRADE 9 page, click the “New page” icon
2. Name the page as the subject and select “Put page
under Grade 9”
3. Click “Save” - we will edit this through the year.

8. 5. ADDING THE “Grade 9” BUTTON TO THE HOME PAGE
1. Click on your Grade 9 page.
2. Copy the URL address from your web browser – It will be something like
https://sites.google.com/site/<your name ASV2013>/home/grade-9
3. Go to the home page
4. Click the edit button.
5. To insert the image button, click on Insert Image→
6. Click “Choose file” and browse to your “e-portfolio images”
folder to select the “Button_grade9.png” image.
7. On the Alt text field, type “Press this button to go to Grade 9”
8. Click OK
9. To change the URL link of the image, press “Change”
10. Paste the URL address of your Grade 9 page (you copied it in step 2)
11.Put it on the center by pressing the center icon
12. Add the credits for the image: Button created with Buttongenerator
13. Add a link to http://www.buttongenerator.com/ on the buttongenerator word.

9. 6. CREATING THE LINKS ON THE GRADE 9 PAGE
We want the Grade 9 page to display images with links to
the subjects (see image on the right).
To do it we will need to create a table, insert images on it
and link the images to their corresponding webpages.
1. On the Grade 9 page, click the edit icon.
2. Click Table Insert Table 4x3→ →
3. Click on the first cell
4. Insert Image→
5. Click “Choose file” and browse to your “e-portfolio images” folder to select the
“English_100px_100px.png” image.
6. On the Alt text field, type “English subject”
7. Click OK
8. To change the URL link of the image, press “Change”
9. Paste the URL address of your English page. You can use other tabs to navigate to
the page and copy the URL.
10.Put it on the center by pressing the center icon
11.Do the same for the rest of the cells and subjects, placing one image on each cell and
the proper link.
12. Add the credits for the images: “All images taken from Wikimedia Commons and in the
Public Domain” and add a link to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
