in one year, but only paid an effective rate of fifteen percent, which is much lower than the rate he
should be paying. The progressive tax system is one that is littered with loopholes, but those are only
known to those with the means to search them out as the federal tax code spans seventy thousand of
pages of convoluted text. Not even the highest paid tax accountants will ever read anywhere near the
full volume of tax laws. By the tax code being as long as it is, few are able to reap the full benefits of
the tax code. The level of complicated text is not the only major issue with the federal tax code.

RESULTS:
In this experiment the effect of different hormones on heart rate of _Daphnia_ was examined. It was
investigated which substances act as stimulants and which substances act as depressant. Initially,
_Daphnia_ was placed on depression slide under the microscope and the average heart rate was
determined. Subsequently, _Daphnia_ was treated with different type of hormone and the effect on
Daphnia heart rate was observed. It was investigated which substances act as stimulants and which
substances act as depressant. Daphnia was treated with aged water, caffeine, ethyl alcohol, nicotine,
and epinephrine, and their effect on heart rate of Daphnia was observed. The results are posted on
table 1:

Heart rate of daphnia fell from an average of 274.455+/ 26 beats per minutes to an average 246.868+/
71 heart beats per minute. After performing Mann Whitney U statistical test, this difference in heart
rate was found to be statistically not significant.
In last procedure, the effect of epinephrine on Daphnia heart rate was observed. The result is posted on
figure 5:

From figure 5 it can be seen that before the addition of epinephrine, Daphnia had an average heart rate
of 277.663+/ 18 heart beats per minutes. However, when epinephrine was added, the average heart
rate was decreased to 291.467+/ 57 heart beats per minute. However, after performing Mann Whitney
U test, it was found that after the addition of epinephrine, no significant difference was observed in
Daphnia s heart beats.
Mann Whitney U statistical testing was performed to see if the result obtained for the difference in
heart rate of Daphnia before and after the addition of stimulant was significant. The statistical test for
the difference in heart rate of daphnia observed after the addition of aged water is shown on table 2:

The right many Americans take for granted every day is the ability to speak to one another and to
express their opinions through verbal and non verbal means of communication. The First Amendment
provides the right of free speech and freedom of press to the people. The Bill of Rights, also known as
the first 10 amendments to the Constitution went into effect on Dec. 15, 1791, when the state of
Virginia ratified it, giving the bill the majority of ratifying states required to protect citizens from the
power of the federal government. One must ask, why would such a right need to be thought about for
so long before enacting it for the people? Why has this never been considered to be a universal right
that every man and woman should have across the world? Historically, in the development of Western
Civilization and prior to the colonization of the Eastern states by the British Monarchy, the British
colonies were not even states yet, let alone united. Neighboring countries Canada and Mexico were
variously governed by the French Canadians, where the French influence can be felt to this day, in
places from Quebec to Montreal, by the Spaniards in California, and the British in what is now British
Columbia. Parts of California and Texas were also under Spanish and Mexican occupation. What
England, France, and Spain had in common were monarchies as governments, with the King or Queen

Zebra Mussels are small fingerlike size about two inches in length. They have a hard white shell with

In 1988 it was discovered that the Zebra Mussels were discharged into Lake St Clair near Detroit,
Michigan. Lake St Clair connects to Lake Huron and Lake Erie. By the next year the Zebra Mussels
traveled from these fresh water lakes into the Illinois and the Hudson Rivers.
Zebra Mussels spread very fast and are now in all the Great Lakes and waterways in many of our

The fem ales lay over one million eggs in one spawning. They are very effcient filter feeders. They
pull nutrients directly from the water at a very high rate. One Zebra Mussels can filter about a quart of
water per day therefore, reducing the amount of phytoplankton available for other organisms like
native mussels, fish and other lake animals. They out compete the native mussels species for the same
resources. The Zebra Mussels filtration of phytoplankton causes a negative effect from the increased
water clairity that results to the ecological structures of the lake community. However, some
organisms benefit from the arrival of the Zebra Mussels. One is the red breasted sunfish .With the
increased clarity it allows in more sunlight which give more growth that provides food and shelter to
other organisms that fish like to eat. But the bad out weighs the good that Zebra Mussels
