Computer Information System Brief
Abstract In this paper I explain what opportunities Kudler Fine Foods has in terms of information
technology, and describe how the company might benefit from implementing enterprise wide
computer information system.
Computer information system brief
Kudler Fine Foods (KFF) is a local chain of gourmet food stores with annual sales of more than 10M
offering specialized products to targeted customers. The company has three locations in the San Diego
metropolitan area (La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas) and plans to add more stores soon (Kudler Fine
Foods, 2008). As a typical mid size food retailer KFF has following key accounting information
system needs:
Inventory management and optimization
Customer and sales management

However, in an effort to leverage the information to create a more intimate relationship with their
customers, the firm is developing a system to track customer purchase behavior over time. Basically
KFF is wasting recourses creating one more stand alone module that is not integrated in enterprise
wide inventory system. It would be more cost efficient for Kudler to do some customization of
inventory management to obtain information about customer behavior. Company s web site doesn t
provide customers with an opportunity to place online orders. The company would benefit from
installing e commerce software and connecting it to merchandise database. It would be beneficial for
Kudler to run a blog on company s web site where customers can give a feedback and learn about in
store events, cooking classes, gourmet recipes, etc.
Revenue management POS system in every store provides daily sales report. This report is a starting
point for each store manager to forecast future sales and cash flows. Sometimes stores have difficulties
with cash purchases of large amounts of fresh locally grown produce, because of not sufficient cash on
store s bank account. If stores were able to have one consolidated bank account it would be easier to
accumulate cash for purchases. The main obstacle to it is an absence of integrated computer
information system

The Anatomy Of Religion By Anthony Wallace
In his article The Anatomy of Religion , Anthony Wallace discussed how certain behavior can be
considered as religious behavior. In this article, he named thirteen different behavior that are religious.
While not all the thirteen behavior are going to be observed in every religion, but it is certain that
many of them will be observed in every religion. It is also important to note that some of these
behaviors are more obvious in certain religions. For example, one of the behavior is sacrifice. This
behavior can be observed differently in Christianity and voodoo; in voodoo people sacrifice goats or
chickens while Christians gives offerings at church. The Rastafarian movement of Jamaica is one of
the youngest religion practiced; it is not even an hundred years old. For religion that is so young, it is
understandable that not a lot people know what the religion is about; certain people don t even know
that it is a religion. For some people, when they hear Rastafari they only think about Bob Marley.
Using the Wallace s essay, the Rastafarian movement of Jamaica can be analyzed. One of the religious
behavior mentioned by Wallace is the act of addressing the super natural most known in a Christian
society as prayer. Just like Christians, Rastafarians also pray, they also address the supernatural. In
everything they do, they say a prayer. For example before smoking ganja, it is possible that some of
them say a little prayer. But

The Effect Of Pulmonary Function On Reaching V Àô O2 Peak....
SPX211 Report
Student: Heather Nicolle
Student Number: 1077265
Abstract:
The main point of this report was to determine if pulmonary function was a limiting factor in regards
to reaching V˙O2 peak [maximal aerobic capacity]. There were thirty two Sunshine Coast University
students that were tested over the two week period of class. The first session was to figure out the
students V˙O2 peak by participating in increasing high intensity exercise. Whereas, the second class
was more to do with discovering pulmonary function and measuring forced vital capacity [FVC] and
forced expired volume [FEV]. Overall, the results had proven that overall lung function was not a
primary limiting factor even though there was a positive correlation in determining V˙O2 max.
Introduction:
Maximum oxygen uptake V˙O2 peak is classified as the highest rate at which oxygen can be taken up
and utilized by the body during severe exercise. It was one of the main variables in exercise
physiology and regularly is used to specify the cardiorespiratory fitness of an individual.1 However,
there are several physiological functions such as; cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolism [tissue]
that all impact how oxygen intake and consumption is used within the body. It was proven that
patients who had chronic obstructive lung disease, had a limited exercise capacity. Whilst normal,
young subjects had a larger ventilatory reserve, due to maximal exercise capacity in this population
had a disadvantage of a

The Issue Of Teen Suicide
Everyday, I think why I m still here. Amanda Michelle Todd September 7, 2012. What if your friend
wanted to commit suicide? What s the first thing you would do? Scream? Cry? Help? Many people
wish they had helped their friend after they commit suicide. Being the victim is scary, being the
witness is scarier, and being the bystander is the scariest. Suicide has been a problem for a very long
time. It can be caused by stress, anxiety, bullying, and mental illnesses.
Teen suicide is a huge problem because there are so many situations that can stress you out and just
make you give up, especially as a teen. Almost everyone has or will have a story at some point in their
life involving suicide. Not only are the victims affected, but the people around them. Some people
hide this because they are ashamed but once one person commits suicide in a family it is likely
someone else will.
This paper is about three things. 1. The history and background of teen suicide. 2. The short and long
term effects of teen suicide. Last but not least, 3. Solutions to teen suicide.
For the history and background of teen suicide we will talk about what causes a suicidal mindset and
what part of the brain sends suicidal signals. In the short and long term effects it will talk about how
teen suicide affects the parents emotions. In the solutions it will talk about what social media
influences the teens.

Sliding New Windows Research Paper
Need New Windows? 3 Reasons To Consider Sliding Windows
When the time comes to purchase new windows, the amount of options to pick from may feel
overwhelming. Not only do you need to select the windows material, but there are different styles of
windows as well. One style that you may not have thought of before are horizontal sliding windows.
Consider these 3 reasons for buying them.
Sliding Windows Are Durable
Traditional double hung windows have various moving parts, many of them being necessary to keep
the window filly functioning. There are pulleys and springs that help them resist gravity and stay open
when in use, which can cause the window to wear down over time and potential stop performing as
they were intended.

From the classic plumber in the red jumpsuit to the first ever motion controlled console, the classic
and most iconic video game company have been revolutionising the world of entertainment since their
debut in the console market in 1983.
Nintendo was originally founded in 1889 as a Japanese playing card company by a man named
Fusajiro Yamauchi. A few years later, the company was not doing as well as they expected so they
decided to try out many different things such as becoming a taxi company, a hotel chain and even a

years later, the Game Boy was released and gained a massive amount of popularity and would be

In 1990 The Super Famicom was released in Japan and a year later in the west under the name Super
Nintendo Entertainment System . It was a successor to the NES and had 16 bit graphics compared to
the NES s 8 bit. At that time, Sega had rivalled against Nintendo their Sega Genesis as well as with
their mascots, Sonic against Mario. Throughout the same year, Nintendo had agreed with Sony to
make a console but the two did not see eye to eye which eventually led to Nintendo backing away
from the contract and five years later, The Sony Playstation was released.
Four months prior to the Sony s first console release, The Sega Saturn hit store shelves for a retail
price of 400$ with amazing new 3d graphics. Because the Saturn was announced and released way
earlier than video game developers had anticipated, it ended up lacking games upon release and
therefore did not end up selling well. In 1995, Sony would end up selling their

Explain Ways To Minimise Estate Tax
Ways to minimise Estate Tax 1) Generation skipping: Generation skipping is exactly as it sounds. In
countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to their
grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This strategy
skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which saves the
assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when transferred
from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it eventually to
your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts can be an area

Description Of Celiac Disease
A disease can be described as a pathological process, which presents a set of features that can
influence different parts within the human body. (5) Nowadays there are a huge number of disorders
that have spread around the world. When a disease hits the digestive system it is considered to be one
of the most deadly diseases and some of these diseases are; gastritis, Crohn s disease, ulcerative
colitis, colon cancer and celiac disease. Celiac disease has been the most common disease in the world

member of the fascist party since 1924. He had joined shortly after the murder by fascist agents of a
socialist deputy named Giacomo Matteotti (Argenteri, 129). Many intellectuals had left the party

Argenteri in her paper Pirandello and Fascism) to fascism seems to be more of an ideological than
political affair. His early identification of Mussolini with his central philosophy of life and form
justified his dedication to the strong leader, though he d later disparage the distinctly fascist cult of
personality. Around him, Pirandello complains to Marta Abba, there must be a level of heads that can

Democracy, after all, had failed to prevent the Great War which had so affected the Italian
consciousness. Perhaps the Italians would do better under a united regime. When you have one boss,

Antibiotic Associated Diarrhea
Background: Antibiotic associated diarrhea and its associated effects are becoming an increasing
problem as the use of antibiotics increases. Diarrhea can cause side effects that are not only
uncomfortable, but also can be life threatening, especially as age increases. Probiotics have shown to
help maintain the normal gut flora that is affected by antibiotics and can lessen the effects of diarrhea.
This evidence based practice project explored the effectiveness of probiotics in treating antibiotic
associated diarrhea in adults. PICO question: In adult patients on antibiotics (P) how does
probiotic/lactobacillus use (I) as compared to absence of probiotic/lactobacillus use (C) affect the
incidence of antibiotic associated diarrhea (O)? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As patients age they are at increased risk for complications of AAD due to more co morbidities and
increase in disruption in the gut flora leading to increasing susceptibility to antibiotic side effects and
complications such as CDI. The intention of probiotics is to restore or maintain the balance of normal
gut flora and reduce the incidence of AAD and CDI. Studies involving taking probiotics in
conjunction with antibiotics and their effectiveness are on the rise (Xie, et al., 2015). Probiotics are
becoming more readily available in various doses and forms. Further research is needed to test
effectiveness of varying dose forms and their response to different age groups; especially adults and
the elderly. Specifically, research is needed to test their effectiveness on treating various gastro
intestinal illnesses such as AAD (Chatterjee, et al., 2013). Nurses can help with controlling the
incidence and effects of AAD by educating themselves in the role probiotics play in reducing
incidence and duration of AAD. Nurses can encourage and educate practitioners of the benefits of
probiotics. They need to take into account the patient s preference and their clinical experience with
probiotic use. The purpose of this investigation was to address the PICO question, In adult patients on

their life. Many student athletes will consume drugs in their teenage years to improve their

Athletes use substances before or during their performance to increase their ability (Marzilli 12 13).
Student athletes will use steroids to increase their strength for a better outcome in their competition.
Testosterone is a common hormone in the body that most athletes abuse (Marzilli 12). Testosterone is
produced naturally in the body of any animal ( Steroids in Sports ). It creates alertness and
aggressiveness to improve performance ( Steroids in Sports ). That is why early athletes used to take
some form of medication to boost the production of testosterone in their body. Both males and females
will consume steroids to increase testosterone in their body. Due to all the medical advantages that
steroids have to an individual, athletes use them to achieve and to sharpen their performance. Apart
from fatigue and letting athletes train for hours, steroids also act as a compound to lactic acid which
causes muscle pain during physical struggles ( Steroids in Sports ). Steroids also contain the hormones
that can increase quickly to recover from injuries ( Steroids in Sports ). Since steroids can increase
endurance levels several times, athletes find it simple to run faster and improve their performance in
sports. According to Gary Becker, performance enhancers, like steroids and other types of doping,
have a negative effect on long term health ( Top 10 Pros and Cons ). Athletes will hurt themselves in
the long run. Competitors dope and consume steroids to achieve the short term rewards in their
teenage years of competitions (Becker). It is not worth achieving something that is temporary than
living with a long term health condition. Student athletes are not educated enough of the effects that

Social Class Injustice

The other is identifies as a White American. The ratio of social class is more proportionate with my
father and I identifying as middle class and my mother and friend identifying as part of the poor and
working class. Lareau states that the patterns of family life vary across these two different social
classes identified. He claims that in terms of the organization of daily lives working class and poor
children spend most of their time in informal play, while middle class children take part in many adult
organized activities designed to expand their individual talents and interests. My collected data was
consistent with this claim, as my mother and friend that fit the poor and working class category spent a

children like my father and me. However, in my study, I found differences in the organization of daily
life only across social class boundaries and not across racial boundaries of brown and white. There
were no discrepancies in terms of the number of activities across races. These results contradicted
Lareau s where he proved black middle class children had more activities largely connected to the
church than White middle class children. There was also a disparity in terms of gender and activities
for the poor and working class when compared to the middle class. Respondents of the latter social

Gentrification Of Death Essay
Gentrification of death: Behind London s burial crisis Seven boroughs in London contain no new
grave space, and a further 19 will be unable to meet expected demand for burials over the next 20
years, according to local authorities. The shortage of burial space in the capital is reaching a critical
stage in many of its 32 boroughs. Data shows that the majority of them currently lack the capacity to
supply enough graves to meet the level of demand suggested by mortality projections over the next
two decades. Changes to burial legislation gives London boroughs the authority to reuse graves in

The Council doesn t even have to get permission from families of the private graves, or even actually
find the families. Councils only have to show they tried to find them. However, Council spokesman
John Wade, said the local authority does not currently reuse graves but may in the future. A similar
scheme is already in place in the City of London, Cemetery Crematorium, where more than 1,500
graves have been reused. The 161 year old cemetery was on the verge of running out of space when
officials decided to begin reusing graves in 2009. It has proven to be a popular choice, with over 60
per cent of burials there now in reused graves. Trevor Davis, Westminster cemeteries manager,
believes the most effective way to stop cemeteries from overflowing is by reusing graves. He said:
New graves can continue to be developed on an indefinite basis as required through
overfill/overvaulting and through reuse. To avoid reusing graves, some cemeteries in London have
created new burial plots. A Greater London Authority audit from 2010 reported that Brockley
Ladywell Cemetery in Lewisham found new burial space by demolishing chapels and clearing land.
Even so, the entire authority of Lewisham will run out of spaces at its four cemeteries in between eight
and 10 years, said Council spokeswoman Alison Beck. Death by the numbers The shortage of burial

Henry David Thoreau Summary
Thoreau from the beginning, showed how tight he was with his money and how much he valued what
he had even if it wasn t much. Throughout this paper he tells of his work he finds, the money he
makes and how wisely he spends it. He often thought that men who worked in the labor industry were
making a mistake, that they worked endlessly for so long they were basically machines. Henry reaches
out to his readers and lets them know that no matter how poor they start out that there s always a light
at the end of the tunnel as long as you re willing to work hard and spend your money wisely.
Thoreau believed that public opinion was weak compared to or own private opinion. Also, that what a
man thinks of himself determined their own fate, and that one generation after the next abandons what
s been learned from the hard working generation before. He started out doing simple outdoor work
like helping with snow storms, rain storms, watering of plants, all while minding his own business.
Thoreau made a decent allowance with these jobs but he sought out something more stating However,
I have not set my heart on that. Henry David Thoreau, Economy, 11.
Henry then began observing his fellow community on their work ethic and their techniques and
decided he needed to start a business himself. His plan was to not live cheaply but not expensively
either and to invest in the native products there and face as few obstacles as possible to achieve the
maximum accomplishments. He believed acquiring

What Are The Cause Of The 2008 Financial Crisis
As evolution proceeds through time, it carries the gift of facilitation and intelligence. However, in
today s intellectually advanced society there has been a cloud of egotism that has decimated mortality
and integrity amongst individuals in an unpredictable economy. The financial crisis that took place
from 2007 2009 was based on the lack of moral judgment and a surplus of gluttony that affected the
united states economy drastically. This crisis is primarily based on the negligence of banks by granting
loan opportunities to individuals who do not qualify due to bad credit score, lack of assets to make a

most of the individuals who applied for a loan and did not qualify would default on their mortgage,

Radiographic Stereotypes
Radiolucent lesions seen on radiographs develop from both odontogenic and non odontogenic
structures. They characterize a broad spectrum of lesions (Avril et al., 2013) A sequential study of all
the radiographic characteristics of the image helps ensure recognition and collection of all the
information contained in the image and in turn improves the accuracy of interpretation. Analysis of
any image should include: Step 1: Localize the anomaly Step 2: Assess the periphery and shape Step
3: Analyse the internal structure Step 4: Analyse the effects of the lesion on peripheral structures. A

External Validity And Its Impact On The World
Within the past few weeks of my social statistics class I have had the amazing opportunity of learning
about various validities and data s. The three validities in which I learned about were, internal,
external and construct. I will explain these validities as well as experimental data and their usefulness
in the world. Lastly, I will explain how one of these data could be useful to me in resolving an issue
that I may meet in life. External Validity includes generalization claims, or the study s capacity to sum
up the outcomes crosswise over various circumstances, gatherings of individuals, or experimental
methods. External validity is the degree to which your research results apply to more than simply the
general population in your analysis. The primary criteria of external validity is the procedure of
generalization, and whether results come about acquired from a little example bunch, regularly in the
research center environment, can be stretched out to make expectations about the population as a

generalization in which external validity is associated with are population generalization,
environmental generalization, and temporal generalization. Generalization is an essential concept
towards external validity. Population generalization is a kind of external validity in which portrays

Philosophies In The 1970s Essay
duction The philosophical ideas of a time often shape the psyche of entire societies. For my parents
generation, intellectual thought and philosophies were more present than ever. The 1970s through the
1990s were full of people who created new ways of thinking and understanding. So new ideas that
were presented are deconstruction, individualism, liberalism, post modernism, and others. All of these
isms were used to help explain society and certain phenomena. While it is obvious that these ideas
existed and were used at the time, it is less obvious as to the accessibility of the philosophies to
everyday citizens. I asked my parents about the role of these philosophies in their lives. While they do

The ideas and philosophies of a time period help to shape how a society acts and what people care
about. The time period of my parents generation was no different. During the 1970s through the
1990s, intellectual elites were discussing and proposing philosophies to help them understand and
explain the fracturing and confusion of the time. Some of the philosophies included liberalism,
deconstructionism, individualism, and others. While the philosophies were present at the time, they
were not widespread enough to be directly present in my parent s upbringing. Nonetheless, even
though the thoughts my parents had and the philosophies they followed were not officially one of the
isms , they still had intellectual stimulation. They still had observations about the world and formed
their own theories about fracture, or identity, or politics, or any other pertinent issue of their era. The

Nationalism Dbq Essay
How did our country get here today? Were we always united in our decisions? At this point in time,
the early 19th century, the U.S. had just bought Texas and California from Spain after the territories
had gained their independence from Mexico. The U.S. believed that it was their destiny to inhabit the
new territories. This is called Manifest Destiny. This caused nationalism, or the feeling of pride or
loyalty to a nation. Many events brought the United States together with nationalism and separated it
by sectionalism.
One event that created nationalism was the Battle of New Orleans. This was the last battle of the War
of 1812, even though it occurred after the Treaty of Ghent was signed. The United States won this
battle against the British and had gained a new war hero, Andrew Jackson. Document 4 supports this
because the Battle of New Orleans inspired the Star Spangled ... Show more content on

These tariffs essentially split the U.S. into three sections, the North, the South, and the West. They all
had different views on the tariffs such as, the North really liked them. Having the tariffs on European
goods, meant the North, who were the manufacturers, would gain a lot more profit from people
wanting to buy their goods for cheaper than the European goods. On the other side, the South really
did not like the tariffs. The Europeans tended to buy their goods, and in order for that to keep on
happening, the South had to pay the tariffs and buy the more expensive European goods. Finally, the
West didn t really care about the tariffs. They just wanted roads and canals in their area, since it was
only inhabited recently. Document 6 supports this because in the picture it shows southerners as
skinny and poor and the northerners are depicted as well off and wealthy. This is like this because, the
Southerners were having to pay more, becoming poorer, and the Northerners were gaining more
profit, becoming

The Cost Of Having A Baby
The Cost of Having a Baby Tiffany Jones November 16, 2014 HCM 615 Health Care Finance Dr.
Donald S. Brady There are many things in life are great gifts, and being a parent is one. Getting the
news that you are expecting a child is a speechless moment. It is a very joyful occasion and everyone
is happy about what to expect over the next nine months. Baby names start flowing and in every
magazine you are looking at outfits and furniture and things of that nature. But has anyone stop to
think about what is cost to have this baby? What medical expenses that will be incurred during this
forty weeks process. The answer is no. No one probably really cares but the hospital and the insurance
company. Now it s time to take a look at some of the cost behind the blessing of labor and delivery.
The amount that a mother will incur to have her bundle of joy will depend on many different factors.
One may take into consideration where you live, whether there are any complications and whether
mommy has a vaginal birth or a C section. But just to take a glimpse inside this world, here are a few
figures that may surprise you. For prenatal care and delivery, the cost in some areas can range from
about $9,000 to over $250,000 (Alfieri, 2012), which is quite a wide range, if not more. This is
without the privilege of having insurance to cover. Even with the privilege of having health insurance,
the majority of these expenses could be covered, but that s not always the case. It

How To Describe Jereon s Drawing
For my first drawing I had a two year old named Jaxon. His Drawing was a bunch of scribbles. He did
use multiple colors and did draw on different parts of the paper. Our setting was at a co worker s
house. The stage I would put Jaxon s drawing in would be the scribble stage. His drawing would be
perfect in the scribble stage because his drawing was a lot of random scribbling. The scribble stage is
usually for children ages1 ½ 2 years of age. Children can be given crayons or markers once they stop
the phase of putting everything in their mouths. Young children do not have much control over hand
movements or the marks on the page this is why lots of the children will scribble with anything, and
onto anything near them. A lot of the children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her drawing represented her and her daddy. Her father is in the army so she drew both in uniform,

early pictorial stage children work on making and perfecting one or many symbols. Symbol making
are like lopsided geometric shapes made. Mandalas and suns are drawn and eventually becomes
human figures. Therefore, I put Kaylee in this stage due to the fact that she drew human figures. Also
during this time some children can draw multiple unrelated shapes and figures. This type of drawing is
an example of a child making multiple drawings of multiple symbols. At the early pictorial stage
children search for new ideas, and their symbols change constantly. A picture a child draws of a lady
could look like a different lady the next day. Most of the time a great variety of form represent the
same symbol. Drawings in this stage are flexible in

Success And Sustainability Of A Business
Many entrepreneurs aspire to own or operate their own business. After deciding on the purpose and
mission of the company, one must chose a form of organization for the business to operate under.
These organizational forms include sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or a limited liability
company. Not only does this decision determine how many individuals are involved in the ownership
of the business, but it also determines what laws, regulations and guidelines must be followed to
ensure success and sustainability of a business.
Across the United States, the majority of small businesses are owned and operated by one person,
which is called sole proprietorship (Liuzzo, 2016). As the most widespread, least expensive business
to establish, many small business entrepreneurs tend to take this path to avoid the need to hiring
employees, pay for expensive locations, evade corporate taxes and to maintain complete control of all
business transactions. Evident by the 2013 tax returns, the benefits of sole proprietorship sound
appealing with approximately 24.1 million individual income tax returns reported sole proprietorship
activity, a 2.2 percent increase from 2012 (Dungan, 2016).
Although the advantages appear to be rewarding for this independent business adventure, being the
primary owner faces a number of difficulties. These disadvantages are not only hardships for the
business but they are also direct liabilities for the business owner. The owner has unlimited personal

The Pros And Cons Of Family Farming
How important is farming? Farming is only one of the most influential industries in America. With
that being said, why has modern farming become one of the most unprofitable and family
disorientated professions: don t people enjoy clothing, bacon, ice cream, corn? We can all come to the
conclusion that we enjoy these products and appreciate the hard working people who provide them, so
why is the government trying to replace family farms with large industrial farms? The ideology of
bigger is better always seems to produce a positive outcome, although does it apply to the appraisal of
farming, or does it neglect it. Recently in America, there has been a decrease in family farming;
according to article The Disappearing Family Farm , since the 1930 s there are roughly 5 Million
fewer family farms in America, and out of the 2 million remaining, only 565,000 are family operated.
(USDA, 2017). The drastic decrease in family farming has begun to ignite questions and debate within
the American population; why this trend is occurring. The first official reason is the new laws
implemented by our government have made it insufficiently harder to build a profit causing many
farms to shut down. First, we begin with regulations. The government agency, most popularly known
as the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agency , is an agency that has caused the decrease of
many family farms due to the inadequate amount of regulations that a farmer must comply to. The
EPA proposes

Why Is Huckleberry Finn Be Banned

Civil War was coming to a close. In the time period, slaves were a common use on farms and in

considered an offensive term. The term is considered so offensive the New York City Council went as
far as to ban the word in 2007.
In Mark Twain s novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the N word is used a total of 216 times.
Because the N word is taken as offensive term, some schools across the country banned the book

Amelia Earhart Disappearance Theory
How could someone survive a plane crash? Since Amelia Earhart s disappearance, theories were
developed trying to explain what was taken into effect, after there was no response from her in the
Pacific ocean. Some either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped her, she died as a castaway, or that
Earhart lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhart did survive her attempted voyage
around the world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of those theories
is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive.
Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived they lost
connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S. National
Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along with the two
missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy took the picture.
An article in:
Kent Gibson, a facial recognition expert, who studied the photo, said in the History Channel special
that it s very convincing evidence that the photo is of Noonan. The hairline is the most distinctive
characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very prominent.
A facial recognition expert confirmed that the U.S. spies photograph could possibly be Noonan and
Earhart. Although it is very possible for Earhart and Noonan to be kidnapped, the picture with the

The Effects of Nuclear Weapons on the World
Nuclear weapons are the most dangerous weapons on earth. One can demolish a whole city,
potentially killing millions, and exposed the natural environment and lives of future generations
through its long term catastrophic effects. According to the UNODA United Nations Office for
Disarmament Affairs (2011), Although nuclear weapons have only been used twice in warfare in the
bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 about 22,000 reportedly remains in our world today and
there have been over 2,000 nuclear tests conducted to date. Nuclear weapons have been viewed as a
threat to peace by world leaders. There have been debates of whether to let Iran and North Korea
acquire nuclear weapons, leaders all around the world along with Liberals believe that it is a threat to
peace and should limit the spread whereas neo realist have another belief that nuclear weapon can
make the world a peaceful place. Because states would fear to attack each other. For example the
Cuban missile crisis in 1962 and cold war there were only threats and war did not happen because of
nuclear deterrence. The Cuban missile crisis has frequently been portrayed as the only time where the
world stood in the point of nuclear war between the superpowers. This is an example of how nuclear
weapons were used to threaten the rival. Another examples would be that of India and Pakistan before
they acquire nuclear weapon , they fought three bloody wars after having their independence but since

Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
The story A Modest Proposal makes the readers feel a sense of dread and disgust. The Modest
Proposal is a pamphlet written by Jonathan Swift, a satirist from the Dublin literary world, and it is
about a proposal being proposed and narrated by the economic projector [and] an ostensibly genuine
voice which can usefully be called Swift s (Phiddian 610). The proposal is a plan to make 20,000 poor
people breed, sell the rest for money, for the 20,000 poor, in order to raise 20,000 of the children and
to repeat this process for forever as far as the narrator s concerns go. While the first true sign that the
pamphlet is a deterrent comes from the sentence before the proposal, this will begin with the proposal.
In the beginning of the proposal the narrator seems like a man of logic, making a logic based proposal,
but after the semicolon and comma and before the last comma the narrator goes from a man of logic to
an emotional arguer who hates the savages that the kingdom created, and form the structure the
savages could be the those who can t raise their children. But it could also be the people making other
proposals which are more likely by the words that follow it and that in Swift s Modest Proposal: The
Biography of an Early Gregorian Pamphlet In the letter concerning the Weavers he says: I am weary
of so many abortive projects ... of so many crude proposals in letters sent to me (Wittkowsky 94)
which supports that the savages are the proposer s previous to him.

Eight Characteristics Of Civilization
A civilization is an society with highly developed culture and technology. Civilizations have distinct

Swot Analysis Of Lennar Home Builders, Inc.
Strategic planning requires all levels of an organization, from the head of the company to the most
junior member, to think about where the organization is today and how they can influence the
organization to move forward in a positive manner to attain its goals (profit, growth, downsizing, etc.).
One method used in strategic planning is for an organization to conduct a Strengths, Weakness,
Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis. Just as the name implies, a SWOT analysis looks at the
four dimensions that can affect an organization. One business that can benefit from a SWOT analysis
is Lennar Home Builders, Inc. This assignment will focus on one of the largest national offices for this
company, located in Miami, FL. First, the paper will describe the history, products, and major
competitors of one of the largest home builders in the country. Next, the focus shifts to create a SWTO
analysis detailing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that may affect the
organization. The assignment begins with a brief discussion on Lennar Homes, one of the most
successful home builders in Florida and the United States. In 1954, Gene Fischer and Arnold Rosen

Sucrose Concentration Lab Report
The hypothesis I previously had was that if the sucrose concentration increases, then the rate of water
movement increases. I have chosen to accept this hypothesis because my data proves it to be true.
Based on my data, as the sucrose concentration is lower, the average change in mass is less than when
the sucrose concentration is higher. This is because more water has to travel in or out of the dialysis
bag in order to help dilute the high concentration of the solution in the beaker down to even it out with
the concentration inside of the dialysis bag. Also, I noticed that having the water in the beaker and the
sucrose molarity inside a dialysis bag always results in the water being hypotonic to the dialysis bag.
When looking at the situation where we were given the unkown sucrose molarity solution within the
beaker and the known sucrose molarity solutions in the dialysis bags the results turned out to be
hypertonic, isotonic and hypotonic on different parts of the graph. ... Show more content on

In addition, the sucrose solution with the unknown molarity is isotonic to the dialysis bag when the
line crosses the x axis. This is because of the fact that there is no change in mass here which means the
solutions must be of an equivilent concentration. Also, when it comes to the solution in the dialysis
bag being of a higher concentration than that of the unknown sucrose molarity concentration within
the beaker, the dialysis bag gained mass. This is because the unknown solution is hypotonic to the
dialysis bag, causing water to enter the bag. There were many possible sources of error for this lab.
First of all, someone may not have dried the outside dialysis bags properly before weighing them on

Speech Anxiety
MANAGING SEVERE SPEECH ANXIETY
TABLE OF CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
CURRENT TRENDS AND APPLICATIONS
CONCLUSION
BIBILIOGRAPHY
INTRODUCTION Public speaking is often described as the most common fear in the world. It is also
something that many people are required to do. It may be to give a toast at a wedding, to present a
seminar at work, to make an argument to a local council, to receive an award or to be interviewed by a
board of directors for a job. Public speaking is something few people can avoid and yet it continues to
be a major fear. To understand this fear and how it can be managed and prevented, the issue will now
be looked at in more detail. This will begin with a definition of public speaking anxiety and a
discussion of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These thoughts are then replaced with more positive thoughts. For example, the speaker about to begin
the speech may think to themselves, I am going to bore these people. With cognitive restructuring, the
speaker can instead think to themselves, I am going to make this speech interesting so the audience are
not bored. These cognitive approaches are based on the speaker learning to associate different
emotions to the public speaking activity. Part of these approaches involves individuals exposing
themselves to public speaking situations. A more recent study has added a new means of achieving
this, by allowing the speaker to take part in public speaking situations via virtual reality. The study
concluded that creating a virtual audience the speaker could interact with, was as effective as using a
real audience (Pertaub, Slater Barker). Using these virtual reality environments and creating a virtual
good audience may become a new method of helping the anxious speaker associate good thoughts
with public speaking. For more minor cases of public speaking anxiety, preparation and practice are
common methods of overcoming the problem. Just like many tasks, the more able a person feels about
completing the task, the less anxiety they experience. This sense of being ready and able to complete a
task is achieved by being prepared. Practice is also important, since this makes the individual

Mrs. Hanson s Life
Mrs. Hanson was the first to use it, when she realized that the moon, when full, hung centered in the
top right pane, and the summer evening breezes seemed always to find their way through it.
Nights she would sit, rocking baby Chance to sleep, the bicycle bells, and laughter, and ice cream
trucks the only things that seemed to lull him into sleep. Not singing, not the music box, only the
scattered, mingling of sounds from the city street below. So she kept the rocker near the window, and
on full moon summer nights, she would sit with her baby boy, both of them soothed and calmed by
what lay beyond. And she sang anyway, to herself, as much as the boy.

In the rocker. Rocking. Beneath a quiet summer moon.
Skye Kenwood rented the apartment on the top floor as soon as the building became available. She
didn t mind the four floor walk up, she d rather be above looking down.
It was the windows that drew her to the apartment, mounted in the curved, bay wall of the building,
and rising to nearly the ceiling. She knew right away that she would make a bay window seat for the
one on the left, where the breeze seemed always to billow the curtains there.
In the spring she would sit on that seat with her sketch pad, looking down on the life below, scurrying
and hurrying, like blood vessels through a vein.
Sometimes she would lift the screen and sprinkle bird seed on the small ledge outside, then sit and
wait for any takers. Mostly there were pigeons, but occasionally she fed a sparrow or two, or on a
truly fortuitous day, a mourning dove would settle there and coo his melancholy song.
But moments as such would last only as long as her ambitious feline remained ignorant of the
potential prey s existence.
Skye soon found there were fewer places she d rather be than on her perch, nestled on pillows,
watching the world in its never ending, maddening ballet.
Skye made her home there for nearly four years, painting the molding around the windows, hanging
stained glass ovals where the morning sun would have little choice but to pass through them on its
way to her sofa.

What Is My Vacation In Hawaii Essay
Telling my friends about my upcoming vacation destination was unique to say the least. As soon as the
sounds of Ha left my mouth, they all exploded with shouts of No way! . They even threw money at me
to bring them home Hawaiian Stuff... this was a little odd, even for my friends. However, I gladly
accepted their deposits and promised that I they would soon have some tropical fruit for them. After I
confirmed that I was going to Hawaii with a photo of my boarding pass, they all burst out screaming
Lucky, I wish I was going there . Although most people wait until the word Hawaii is said, most
people s reaction to the idea of the gorgeous, tropical island of Maui is pretty similar: pure excitement.
So here I was, three months later, about to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a measly hour, we discovered what made Hawaii s culture amazing... simple living. Although
everything cost a fortune in Hawaii, their worry free nature persists. Hawaiians are not materialistic,
especially compared to the rest of America; they are much more focused on Earth s nature. We were
welcomed into their community when all people used the word Aloha expressing all welcoming words
in one simple phrase. Random friends continued to run up to us and make sure we felt welcomed and
had every things we needed for a pleasant time. Rather than just giving a one word response, we had
sophisticated conversations with the natives there. We fell apart of their community. We were apart of
their community.
During our stay in Maui, we assimilated to the culture! It was absolutely fantastic as we consumed the
native fish of Mahi Mahi, wore shorts and traditional Hawaiian shirts, and even began using words in
the Hawaiian language. I was so so wrong to even doubt this place. Although I was skeptical and
nervous at first, the people here made it one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I will, going

My Favorite Mistake In College
My Favorite Mistake After a long and tiring year of junior high, finally, the first day of summer break.
My brother s graduation was just around the corner however, i haven t made any plans for the
remainder of this vacation. He was studying to become a graphic designer at the Art Institute. Till this
day, i have high respect for him and his work ethic. During his college days, he lived through sleepless
nights working on projects and perfecting his craft. So, for him being an artist, I thought it would be
fun to do a design in my hair.
At the time, kids at my school were doing it, they had swirls on the side of their heads, little cuts on
their eyebrows, and they also had a tail growing in the back. I didn t want anything fancy, just

Misconceptions Pertaining College Students Who Obtain a Job
This literature review will focus on the scope of college student s whom have a job while going to
school full time versus college students who do not have a job and the effects on their academic
success. It will identify the contributing factors dealing with Seton Hall University student s
academics. In addition this literature review will identify the possible solutions dealing with academic
success based on research pertaining to college student s positive outcomes. The time period that will
be covered by this review will be within the most recent five years. As defined by Mounsey,

Although students who work and do not work experience there stress levels differently and according
to the study more working college students experience more of a stress level then non working
students but the most interesting finding in this study is that working college students have a higher
grade point then the non working students (p.384). Suggestions as to why that were presented in the
article is that students who work and go to school full time have the ability to manage their time more
wisely then those who do not work (p.396 387). This data is again represented in another study that
was produced by Lang (2012) which clarifies that college students who work maintain a higher grade
point average then students who do not work (p.250). Another aspect that Lang s experiment clarifies
that more working students spend more time one their studies and working then they do with their
social lives (p.250). This is because students learn how to priorities and in order to priorities they have
to give up something in this case it is their social life. Learning how to prioritize students gain the
ability to develop time management skills that the can use in order to complete the task that they need
to get done; whether it would be

The Role Of The Direct Effect And State Liability
The given scenario involves a women name Suvi, a Finnish national who wants to work in UK as a
self employer offering her services as a Zoo technologist to the zoos in UK. In order to achieve that
she must be registered with National Authority of Zoo The problem with her situation is the that her
application for registration has been rejected based on two reasons, (1) she must obtain a qualification
in respective field from UK in line with 2014 UK Act and (2) she must obtain insurance in accordance
with EU Directive 2010/5.
The main issue for Suvi to concern with is the enforcement of EU law and the application of the
Direct effect and possible following of Indirect effect and State Liability. The Direct Effect is a term
given to judicial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And to do that she must full fill the criteria of Van Gend en Loos [5] i.e (1) Be clear and precise (2) Be
unconditional and (3) Not dependent on further actions by EU institutions or by Member state .[6]
For Suvi s first reason of rejection of application of registration with NAZ, Under the Regulation EU
12/2012 of the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND COUNCIL on the right of free of movement for
zoo technologisist 1 APRIL 2012. ART 1, ART 3 and ART 7 satisfies the Van Gen en loos test s first
and second condition because ART 1 and ART 3 of the regulation Gives right s to Suvi to work in UK
to as a self employed zoo technologist .she is a Finnish national, EU MS citizen, thus she can work in
any other MS and she is entitled to be registered with National Authority of Zoos (NAZ) the
regulation should have been applied by UK by December 2012 and by the facts given it it indicates
that UK government did not do the transposition properly therefore it will be safe to say that the time
of transpose has passed thus satisfying second condition and EU regulation can be enforced like the
case of Pubblico Ministero v Rotti 148/78 [7] principle where the date of implementation has passed
and the directive have not been implemented or implemented properly.
Even though the EU Regulation, under ART 288,EU law is directly applicable in host country, these
three Articles full fill the first two conditions of the criteria i.e. Be clear and precise, Be unconditional.
The third condition

Similarities Between Virginia And The Caribbean
During particular time periods whichever product rose to popularity, whether it be cotton, rum,
tobacco, or sugar, became the means of buying and selling or trading. Two major products that the
people of the new world depended on during the early colonial times were tobacco and sugar. Both
Virginia and the Caribbean were able to be successful and bloom due to these two major products.
Virginia and the Caribbean had many similarities as well as differences on how they changed
economically and socially due to tobacco and sugar plantations. John Rolfe, the father of the tobacco
industry, was the reason why tobacco made its way to America. Soon after tobacco was perfected in
both raising and curing by Rolfe, it became a popular product that ... Show more content on

Tobacco did not require much to process, unlike sugar that required advanced technology as well as
multiple laborers. Within a year tobacco was able to be produced, however sugar took longer. Sugar
cultivation became a business that only farmers with a lot of money could succeed in due to the need
for land and for labor to clear the fields and to run the mills. However almost anyone could farm
tobacco because it was easily planted and didn t cost as much. In Virgina, tobacco became such a high
demand that fields everywhere were used for tobacco plantations. However farmers repeatedly used
the same land over and over, ruining the soil. This limited Virginia s fortunes to the irregular price of a
single crop. The high demand for sugar in the Caribbeans also wiped out all other forms of Caribbean
agriculture. Which led to the dependence on the north american mainland for other food supplies and
basic supplies. When it comes to tobacco and sugar plantations, both the Caribbean and Virginia were
affected socially and economically. As the plantations grew, slaves became a major factor in farming
the lands. This soon lead to the Civil War due to the differences between the free and slave states over
the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories

  • 2. Computer Information System Brief Abstract In this paper I explain what opportunities Kudler Fine Foods has in terms of information technology, and describe how the company might benefit from implementing enterprise wide computer information system. Computer information system brief Kudler Fine Foods (KFF) is a local chain of gourmet food stores with annual sales of more than 10M offering specialized products to targeted customers. The company has three locations in the San Diego metropolitan area (La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas) and plans to add more stores soon (Kudler Fine Foods, 2008). As a typical mid size food retailer KFF has following key accounting information system needs: Inventory management and optimization Customer and sales management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in an effort to leverage the information to create a more intimate relationship with their customers, the firm is developing a system to track customer purchase behavior over time. Basically KFF is wasting recourses creating one more stand alone module that is not integrated in enterprise wide inventory system. It would be more cost efficient for Kudler to do some customization of inventory management to obtain information about customer behavior. Company s web site doesn t provide customers with an opportunity to place online orders. The company would benefit from installing e commerce software and connecting it to merchandise database. It would be beneficial for Kudler to run a blog on company s web site where customers can give a feedback and learn about in store events, cooking classes, gourmet recipes, etc. Revenue management POS system in every store provides daily sales report. This report is a starting point for each store manager to forecast future sales and cash flows. Sometimes stores have difficulties with cash purchases of large amounts of fresh locally grown produce, because of not sufficient cash on store s bank account. If stores were able to have one consolidated bank account it would be easier to accumulate cash for purchases. The main obstacle to it is an absence of integrated computer information system ... • 3. The Anatomy Of Religion By Anthony Wallace In his article The Anatomy of Religion , Anthony Wallace discussed how certain behavior can be considered as religious behavior. In this article, he named thirteen different behavior that are religious. While not all the thirteen behavior are going to be observed in every religion, but it is certain that many of them will be observed in every religion. It is also important to note that some of these behaviors are more obvious in certain religions. For example, one of the behavior is sacrifice. This behavior can be observed differently in Christianity and voodoo; in voodoo people sacrifice goats or chickens while Christians gives offerings at church. The Rastafarian movement of Jamaica is one of the youngest religion practiced; it is not even an hundred years old. For religion that is so young, it is understandable that not a lot people know what the religion is about; certain people don t even know that it is a religion. For some people, when they hear Rastafari they only think about Bob Marley. Using the Wallace s essay, the Rastafarian movement of Jamaica can be analyzed. One of the religious behavior mentioned by Wallace is the act of addressing the super natural most known in a Christian society as prayer. SPX211 Report Student: Heather Nicolle Student Number: 1077265 Abstract: The main point of this report was to determine if pulmonary function was a limiting factor in regards to reaching V˙O2 peak [maximal aerobic capacity]. There were thirty two Sunshine Coast University students that were tested over the two week period of class. The first session was to figure out the students V˙O2 peak by participating in increasing high intensity exercise. Whereas, the second class was more to do with discovering pulmonary function and measuring forced vital capacity [FVC] and forced expired volume [FEV]. Overall, the results had proven that overall lung function was not a primary limiting factor even though there was a positive correlation in determining V˙O2 max. Introduction: Maximum oxygen uptake V˙O2 peak is classified as the highest rate at which oxygen can be taken up and utilized by the body during severe exercise. It was one of the main variables in exercise physiology and regularly is used to specify the cardiorespiratory fitness of an individual.1 However, there are several physiological functions such as; cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolism [tissue] that all impact how oxygen intake and consumption is used within the body. It was proven that patients who had chronic obstructive lung disease, had a limited exercise capacity. He did use multiple colors and did draw on different parts of the paper. Our setting was at a co worker s house. The stage I would put Jaxon s drawing in would be the scribble stage. His drawing would be perfect in the scribble stage because his drawing was a lot of random scribbling. The scribble stage is usually for children ages1 ½ 2 years of age. Children can be given crayons or markers once they stop the phase of putting everything in their mouths. Young children do not have much control over hand movements or the marks on the page this is why lots of the children will scribble with anything, and onto anything near them. In the early pictorial stage children work on making and perfecting one or many symbols. Symbol making are like lopsided geometric shapes made. Mandalas and suns are drawn and eventually becomes human figures. Therefore, I put Kaylee in this stage due to the fact that she drew human figures. Also during this time some children can draw multiple unrelated shapes and figures. This type of drawing is an example of a child making multiple drawings of multiple symbols. At the early pictorial stage children search for new ideas, and their symbols change constantly. A picture a child draws of a lady could look like a different lady the next day. • 27. Success And Sustainability Of A Business Many entrepreneurs aspire to own or operate their own business. After deciding on the purpose and mission of the company, one must chose a form of organization for the business to operate under. These organizational forms include sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or a limited liability company. Not only does this decision determine how many individuals are involved in the ownership of the business, but it also determines what laws, regulations and guidelines must be followed to ensure success and sustainability of a business. Across the United States, the majority of small businesses are owned and operated by one person, which is called sole proprietorship (Liuzzo, 2016). As the most widespread, least expensive business to establish, many small business entrepreneurs tend to take this path to avoid the need to hiring employees, pay for expensive locations, evade corporate taxes and to maintain complete control of all business transactions. Evident by the 2013 tax returns, the benefits of sole proprietorship sound appealing with approximately 24.1 million individual income tax returns reported sole proprietorship activity, a 2.2 percent increase from 2012 (Dungan, 2016). Although the advantages appear to be rewarding for this independent business adventure, being the primary owner faces a number of difficulties. These disadvantages are not only hardships for the business but they are also direct liabilities for the business owner. The owner has unlimited personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Pros And Cons Of Family Farming How important is farming? Farming is only one of the most influential industries in America. With that being said, why has modern farming become one of the most unprofitable and family disorientated professions: don t people enjoy clothing, bacon, ice cream, corn? We can all come to the conclusion that we enjoy these products and appreciate the hard working people who provide them, so why is the government trying to replace family farms with large industrial farms? The ideology of bigger is better always seems to produce a positive outcome, although does it apply to the appraisal of farming, or does it neglect it. Recently in America, there has been a decrease in family farming; according to article The Disappearing Family Farm , since the 1930 s there are roughly 5 Million fewer family farms in America, and out of the 2 million remaining, only 565,000 are family operated. (USDA, 2017). The drastic decrease in family farming has begun to ignite questions and debate within the American population; why this trend is occurring. The first official reason is the new laws implemented by our government have made it insufficiently harder to build a profit causing many farms to shut down. First, we begin with regulations. The government agency, most popularly known as the EPA, or the Environmental Protection Agency , is an agency that has caused the decrease of many family farms due to the inadequate amount of regulations that a farmer must comply to. • 31. Amelia Earhart Disappearance Theory How could someone survive a plane crash? Since Amelia Earhart s disappearance, theories were developed trying to explain what was taken into effect, after there was no response from her in the Pacific ocean. Some either believe that Japanese troops kidnapped her, she died as a castaway, or that Earhart lived under another identity. In the end, Amelia Earhart did survive her attempted voyage around the world. Earhart s mysterious disappearance lead to different theories. One of those theories is that the Japanese kidnapped Amelia Earhart and her navigator Noonan, holding them captive. Earhart and Noonan were making a stop on Howland island, but before they arrived they lost connection with the U.S. Coast Guard. Years later, a picture was discovered in the U.S. National Archives displaying what is supposed Earhart and Noonan near Japanese troops. Along with the two missing people in the photograph, parts of plane were behind them. An American spy took the picture. An article in: Kent Gibson, a facial recognition expert, who studied the photo, said in the History Channel special that it s very convincing evidence that the photo is of Noonan. The hairline is the most distinctive characteristic, Gibson said. It s a very sharp receding hairline. The nose is very prominent. • 34. Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal The story A Modest Proposal makes the readers feel a sense of dread and disgust. The Modest Proposal is a pamphlet written by Jonathan Swift, a satirist from the Dublin literary world, and it is about a proposal being proposed and narrated by the economic projector [and] an ostensibly genuine voice which can usefully be called Swift s (Phiddian 610). The proposal is a plan to make 20,000 poor people breed, sell the rest for money, for the 20,000 poor, in order to raise 20,000 of the children and to repeat this process for forever as far as the narrator s concerns go. While the first true sign that the pamphlet is a deterrent comes from the sentence before the proposal, this will begin with the proposal. In the beginning of the proposal the narrator seems like a man of logic, making a logic based proposal, but after the semicolon and comma and before the last comma the narrator goes from a man of logic to an emotional arguer who hates the savages that the kingdom created, and form the structure the savages could be the those who can t raise their children. But it could also be the people making other proposals which are more likely by the words that follow it and that in Swift s Modest Proposal: The Biography of an Early Gregorian Pamphlet In the letter concerning the Weavers he says: I am weary of so many abortive projects ... of so many crude proposals in letters sent to me (Wittkowsky 94) which supports that the savages are the proposer s previous to him. ... I have chosen to accept this hypothesis because my data proves it to be true. Based on my data, as the sucrose concentration is lower, the average change in mass is less than when the sucrose concentration is higher. This is because more water has to travel in or out of the dialysis bag in order to help dilute the high concentration of the solution in the beaker down to even it out with the concentration inside of the dialysis bag. Also, I noticed that having the water in the beaker and the sucrose molarity inside a dialysis bag always results in the water being hypotonic to the dialysis bag. These cognitive approaches are based on the speaker learning to associate different emotions to the public speaking activity. Part of these approaches involves individuals exposing themselves to public speaking situations. A more recent study has added a new means of achieving this, by allowing the speaker to take part in public speaking situations via virtual reality. The study concluded that creating a virtual audience the speaker could interact with, was as effective as using a real audience (Pertaub, Slater Barker). So she kept the rocker near the window, and on full moon summer nights, she would sit with her baby boy, both of them soothed and calmed by what lay beyond. Beneath a quiet summer moon. Skye Kenwood rented the apartment on the top floor as soon as the building became available. She didn t mind the four floor walk up, she d rather be above looking down. It was the windows that drew her to the apartment, mounted in the curved, bay wall of the building, and rising to nearly the ceiling. She knew right away that she would make a bay window seat for the one on the left, where the breeze seemed always to billow the curtains there. In the spring she would sit on that seat with her sketch pad, looking down on the life below, scurrying and hurrying, like blood vessels through a vein. Sometimes she would lift the screen and sprinkle bird seed on the small ledge outside, then sit and wait for any takers. Mostly there were pigeons, but occasionally she fed a sparrow or two, or on a truly fortuitous day, a mourning dove would settle there and coo his melancholy song. But moments as such would last only as long as her ambitious feline remained ignorant of the potential prey s existence. Skye soon found there were fewer places she d rather be than on her perch, nestled on pillows, watching the world in its never ending, maddening ballet. Skye made her home there for nearly four years, painting the molding around the windows, hanging stained glass ovals where the morning sun would have little choice but to pass through them on its way to her sofa. Although everything cost a fortune in Hawaii, their worry free nature persists. Hawaiians are not materialistic, especially compared to the rest of America; they are much more focused on Earth s nature. We were welcomed into their community when all people used the word Aloha expressing all welcoming words in one simple phrase. Random friends continued to run up to us and make sure we felt welcomed and had every things we needed for a pleasant time. Rather than just giving a one word response, we had sophisticated conversations with the natives there. We fell apart of their community. We were apart of their community. During our stay in Maui, we assimilated to the culture! It was absolutely fantastic as we consumed the native fish of Mahi Mahi, wore shorts and traditional Hawaiian shirts, and even began using words in the Hawaiian language. I was so so wrong to even doubt this place. Although I was skeptical and nervous at first, the people here made it one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. My brother s graduation was just around the corner however, i haven t made any plans for the remainder of this vacation. He was studying to become a graphic designer at the Art Institute. At the time, kids at my school were doing it, they had swirls on the side of their heads, little cuts on their eyebrows, and they also had a tail growing in the back. Two major products that the people of the new world depended on during the early colonial times were tobacco and sugar. Both Virginia and the Caribbean were able to be successful and bloom due to these two major products. Virginia and the Caribbean had many similarities as well as differences on how they changed economically and socially due to tobacco and sugar plantations. Tobacco did not require much to process, unlike sugar that required advanced technology as well as multiple laborers. Within a year tobacco was able to be produced, however sugar took longer. Sugar cultivation became a business that only farmers with a lot of money could succeed in due to the need for land and for labor to clear the fields and to run the mills. However almost anyone could farm tobacco because it was easily planted and didn t cost as much. In Virgina, tobacco became such a high demand that fields everywhere were used for tobacco plantations. However farmers repeatedly used the same land over and over, ruining the soil. This limited Virginia s fortunes to the irregular price of a single crop. The high demand for sugar in the Caribbeans also wiped out all other forms of Caribbean agriculture.
