Compare The Transition From The Gilded Age To The...
The great Chinese philosopher Confucius stated, Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising
every time we fall. When observing the transformation the United States has undergone over
centuries, great reforms have been made. Pinpointing a specific time is from 1890 to 1916. This period
marks the transformation from the Gilded Age to the Progressive Era. The Progressive Era arrived as a
result of the social, political, and economic turbulence brought by the industrialization that occurred
during the Gilded Age. The imperative topics addressed during the transformation were the relenting
labor question, political corruption, and gender roles within American society. These matters jointly
brought many reformers, social groups, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They unveiled corruption and social inequality. They also exposed child labor and hazardous living
and working conditions. One of the most famous books written during the era of the Muckraker was
Upton Sinclair s novel The Jungle, published in 1906. This novel highlighted the treacherous
conditions in slaughterhouses and showcased that rotten meat being sold to the American public
(Foner, 680). This outraged many Americans. As a result, The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 and the
Pure Food and Drug Act were passed to combat the discontent that surfaced with the novel.
Photographer Lewis Hine captured child labor to highlight the enormous amount of child laborers and
to showcase the substantial social inequality. As a result, states began to pass laws banning child labor.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson passed the Keating Owens Act, which outlawed child labor in
manufacturing. The Muckrakers humiliated the government by publishing works that brought great
displeasure to the American people and showcased public dilemma. With the onset of embarrassment
the Muckrakers works brought, the American government passed laws to reprimand the abuses

Guilt In The Play Macbeth By Veronica Roth
Guilt provides a painful consequence for actions... When people feel guilty a study found that they
usually do one of two things. They try to do something thoughtful for either the person they hurt, or
simply anyone they know. As a result, guilty people feel as if they need to do something to make up
for what they have done in order to make themselves feel less guilty (Markman). In the play Macbeth,
written by Shakespeare, Macbeth handles his remorse differently. Shakespeare communicates to the
audience that power corrupts even the most loyal people leaving them with an overwhelming feeling
of guilt. In the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, characters also show feelings of remorse due to
their reactions on events in their life which leads to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lady Macbeth was found sleepwalking one night by one of her maids. She muttered in her sleep The
Thane of Fife had a wife. Where is she now? What, will these hands ne er be clean? (Shakespeare V, i,
9 10). Lady Macbeth is trying to scrub her hand clean of guilt but nothing can wash away what her
and Macbeth have done. Even though Lady Macbeth did not murder anyone she feels culpable for the
actions of Macbeth and the death of the people in her kingdom. In the same way, Tris, a character
from the Divergent series, found herself in a situation killing her close friend Will. Tris wakes from a
dream remembering her nightmare For a moment I see Will standing before me.... I could have shot
his hand, why didn t I, why? and I almost scream his name. Then hes gone. (Roth, 10). Before Tris
could process the situation she had shot Will in the chest. The effect of Tris killing Will and Lady
Macbeth partly to blame for King Duncan s death led them to a subconscious remorse because they
both could not tell anyone else how they feel or what they have done. Both characters are breaking
down and the guilt is consuming them causing destruction in their

Does Our Increasingly Mechanized World Cause Us You Feel...
Does our increasingly mechanized world cause us to feel alienated?
It can be argued that life has never been so easy. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely
available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing.
Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of
overabundance and the freedom it affords us.
Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and a
sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and
overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher
quality and easier life.
Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result of
our incessant progression towards a brighter future.
Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and
purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I
think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern
times.
I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important but
also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue
within our society.
I will look at Marx and Engels.

Comparison Of The Inflow Wind Velocity Fluctuations On The...
In this section, LES via vortex method was utilized to investigate the inflow wind velocity fluctuations
on the pressure distribution over the roof surface of TTU full scale building. In total, the results of
three CFD LES cases are presented in this section as follows:
(1) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=25%, TLS=10m);
(2) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=30%, TLS=15m);
(3) CFD LES at location 3 (TI=25%, TLS=10m).
The results of mean and peak pressure distribution over the roof surface for each cases are compared
with full scale field measurements and wind tunnel data within the next sub sections accordingly.

According to the Figure 15 and Figure 16, the results show that the roof peak pressure contours of a
full scale building simulated by the developed CFD LES model 1 at location 7 with input parameters
of TI=25%, and TLS=10m are very similar to the TTU full scale field measurements. This is again
another proof that if an accurate turbulence closure, like LES, and appropriate inlet velocity
fluctuations (for instance using vortex method with tuned input parameters) are implemented in CFD,
the numerical model can be utilized for appropriate estimation of peak and standard deviation of
pressure distributions on low rise buildings within the numerical model. In addition, in all three CFD
LES models, high negative pressure values (suction effects) were observed near the corner and edges
of the windward side of the roof similar to the TTU field data which are the spots on the roof that
separation bubbles start developing in a fluctuating manner. Identifying the extend of these regions
will help to design appropriate mitigation features for surpassing the high suctions at corner and edges
on the roof. Figure 15 (c) and Figure 16 (c) show that reproducing peak pressures in wind tunnel is,
however, a big challenge due to its limitation to correctly reproduce important flow characteristics and
inherent scale issue with

How To Evaluate Expedition Strategy To Sicily
Evaluation of Expedition Strategy to Sicily
According to the Thucydides book edited by Robert B. Strassler, the Peloponnesian War was
conducted between 431 401 BC among Athenians and Spartans ancient Greece states cities with their
respective alliance. Main objective of the war was struggle for empire domination, and fear of being
dominating. The Athenian and Spartans were the main rival powers. The Athenians were dominant in
sea power, in the other hand, Spartans were strong in land power. As the result of limitation in either
power, that created misbalance on military capability. Both cities tried to have symmetric military
capability by forming alliance. The Athenians national interest was expanding their empire by
supporting their allies from Sparta lead alliance country. Due to this reason, the Athenian deployed
their forces to Sicily two times. The first was in 427 BC, the forces was commanded by Leaches and
Euphiletus because of the war between Syracusans and Leontines. The second was the final
expeditions campaign to Sicily lead by three generals, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

deploy Sicily by undermining the capability of all cities and exaggerating the Athenian power. Finally,
after repeated effort, the assembly voted to expeditions. It could benefited to vote the advice of Nicias,
because his advice was better than Alcibiades. Generally, this vote was overwhelmed only the need for
victory, without assessing all surrounding consequences. That brought catastrophic defeat for

I Know You Love Me-Now Let Me Die By Louis M. Profeta...
Many families are willing to do anything to save their loved ones. In the article I Know You Love Me
Now Let Me Die by Louis M. Profeta, the author mentions a time when people died in places with
happy memories that were forgotten once technology began to develop. Because dying in a familiar
environment was the old way of letting a beloved person pass, Profeta uses circular structure to
explore how every family wants to preserve their loved one s life even if the person wants to die.
Some families were able to let their special ones pass with the last days [s]pent with familiar sounds,
in a familiar room, with familiar smells, that gave her a final chance to summon memories that will
help carry her away (Profeta). In the past, the passing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses circular structure to state how people died before to display the importance of the last
phrase in an argument. As a result, many would see how their beloved ones would want to stay in a
comfortable place to leave with happy memories rather than trying to give their families false hope.
Additionally, instead of trying to come up with more ways to save a life of a person that wants to rest
in peace, the doctors and families chose to do what they should instead of what they could and with
that we will close our eyes to familiar sounds in a familiar room, a fleeting smile and a final soft
squeeze of a familiar hand (Profeta). Technology is often thought as something that can be used for
everything but when some can not depend on it anymore, many will become aware of their
surroundings. Families will see how they were not aware of how their loved ones felt when they had
no hope of surviving. Those that have not lived their lives to the fullest would think that any dying
person would want to be given a chance to live longer although the elderly person realizes that it is
their time to leave this

A Critique For Clt.
Name: Esraa Galal Salama Haiba M.A 2016 program
A Critique for CLT
There has been a big shift in teaching languages away from the old traditional ways to the notion of
CLT, but like any modern notion, it should not be followed blindly by all institutions in all parts of the
world. To make the decision of whether or not it should be used in a particular class, so many
variables need to be examined including; the aims for learning and teaching a language, the actual
teaching process, the cultural acceptance and appropriateness of CLT, and the readiness for teachers to
use it.
What is CLT? Where did it come from?
Communicative language teaching (CLT) is based on the idea that language is but a mean for
communication, and so its primary goal is to achieve, what is called, communicative competence. For
CLT, a good language learner is one who can communicate well in a real life situation that which
involves a lot of strategies to keep a meaningful conversation and to avoid any communication gap.
Unlike the audio lingual method, which originally originated from behaviorism, CLT did not have any
psychological background. Thus, all that CLT material developers and syllabus designers had was the
broad theory that students learn best by doing. It was all based on the general assumption that the
learners communicative competence develops automatically through their active participation

A branched chain amino acid (BCAA) is an amino corrosive having aliphatic side chains with a
branch (a focal carbon molecule bound to three or more carbon molecules). Among the proteinogenic
amino acids, there are three BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine and valine. Non proteinogenic BCAAs
incorporate norvaline and 2 aminoisobutyric acid.
The three proteinogenic BCAAs are among the nine key amino acids for people, representing 35% of
the crucial amino acids in muscle proteins and 40% of the preformed amino acids needed by warm

order to introduce customers to their products and also teach customers how to prepare their specialty
foods. They have expanded to three stores and are continuing to see growth opportunities in their
industry. Kudler Fine Foods has planned on contracting with local growers to obtain their produce and
now they want to add a catering service. Before they can do so, they must run the possibility fully

Also they can have a wide array of choices since they do not have to keep large quantities of all items
in stock. They should also offer a little flexibility to the customer by letting them bring some idea into
the catering service that they may have, or have seen some other place. This will show that they are
interested in the needs of the customer as well as offering them goods and services for profit. This
ultimately could be a way of marketing research that helps the company stayed informed on the
introduction of new products in the industry. Also Kudler needs to make sure that their prices stay
competitive to other catering services in the area. They can offer services that may result in a higher
fee; for example it will cost more to have the meal prepared by a celebrity chef. They should be
flexible with the costs offering different meals at different costs to the customer. It cannot be stressed
enough that Kudler needs to focus on staying competitive since this is a new service that will be added
and they do not have the reputation of some other catering companies in the area. Kudler also needs to
decide if they will start off as a small caterer only doing small parties or will they do banquets and
weddings. The difference in the location is the staffing that they will have to offer at the events as well

An Environmental Assessment ( Ea ) For Maryland Gas ...
QUESTION PRESENTED Did FERC s issuance of an Environmental Assessment (EA) and
corresponding Finding of no Significant Impact (FONSI) for Maryland Gas 400 Line pipeline project
violate NEPA? Should the Sierra Club sue FERC over this issue? SHORT ANSWER Yes. FERC s EA
violated NEPA s requirement to consider the cumulative and indirect impacts of a proposed project.
While FERC did consider some indirect impacts of the 400 Line project, FERC failed to analyze the
400 Line in conjunction with two connected pipeline projects: the 500 Line and the 600 Line. FERC s
fragmented analysis violates NEPA s requirement that environmental review consider interdependent
parts of a larger action (40 C.F.R. § 1508.25a). Other potential objections to FERC s EA, including the
project s effects on endangered species and FERC s failure to analyze certain alternative
arrangements, have a smaller and less certain likelihood of legal success. FERC provided a reasoned
explanation for most of their choices, and will thus receive generous deference from any reviewing
court on those issues. FERC, though, failed to mention either of the two related pipeline projects in the
EA, so the Sierra Club will have a strong case that FERC did not meet the requirement, cited in
Robertson v. Methow Valley Citizens Council, 490 U.S. 332 (1989), to take a hard look at the
environmental consequences of the 400 Line pipeline. FACTS See prompt. DISCUSSION Does a

One thing that the company may face is fraud and in order to reduce fraud, management has to create
and build policies to address those specific risks. Strengths and Recommendations Since LJB
Company is relatively small, they have an advantage over their competitors who are large companies.
Being a small company due to its size of employees, one of the things they are doing right is being
able to set expectations and implement those within the organization. As a smaller company, the
accountant s decision to switch to pre numbered invoices and the purchase of an indelible ink machine
was a good idea and investment. The pre numbered invoices will prevent transactions from being
recorded multiple times. With the internal control system this will require that the employees forward
their source documents for the accounting entries. The indelible ink machine will help organize all of
the accounting duties. We recommended that LJB Company purchase an indelible ink machine to print
all employees and cut checks. With the indelible ink machine this will make it difficult for
unauthorized users to endorse checks and be approved. This will cut down on fraud and theft within
the company. Violations LJB Company is very susceptible to fraud due the weaknesses and threats
presented in the day to day operations. The type of threats include: no human resource control, lack of
cash control, and no duties defined for each individual. LJB Company is lacking

Migration of Turkic Tribes
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in the new area.
Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report 2010 The
Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for Migration. 2010).
In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the
same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of world
civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous migration stage
of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and
spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic
migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in
their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living
in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially,
during the Migration Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover,
some Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and extend their pastures. While the
amount of people and cattle were increasing, it was difficult to accommodate animals with pastures.
For instance, Yuruks ( Walkers ), who initially settled in Eastern Anatolia, moved to Western Anatolia

Biological Theory And Psychological Theory
Now day s murder becomes very common in all countries due to increased desires and due to
increased competition. Unlawfully killing of one human by another especially with a desire to harm
others and see others suffering from pain, these are planned or sometimes unplanned. Murder done by
convict (Hashmukhial Mistry) because of depressed mind and family conflicts.
This essay explains the application of biological theory in case of Hashmukhial Mistry killed his wife
and his father before taking his own life. Biological theory is originated from Social trait theory,
deviant trait theory and psychological theory.
Biological theory of crime assumes that a person lead to criminal activities just because of their
physical attributes. Physical characteristics are generally transferred from parents to children. If
certain physical attributes which force a individual to do some criminal activities are transferred to
child from their parents that make the child more at risk of committing the crimes. Children mostly
learn all the things from the family and society which increased day by day with increasing age.
Johan Casper Lavater believed that shape of the skull and other facial features impacted human to
conduct criminal activities. Charles Goring developed a study that compared prisoners with member
of the Royal Engineer of London and found no differences in facial features or skull size between the
two groups. However, Goring did conclude that he prisoners tended to have

Japanese Imperial Expansion
The Japanese imperial expansion was a major cause of the battle in Singapore. In 1940, Japan allied
itself with the Axis powers and by 1941, Japan had effectively been engaged in a 10 year campaign of
expansion in East Asia in the quest for much needed resources, especially oil. Before expanding
further into South East Asia, Japan wanted to remove the threat of the US Navy based at Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii. This surprise attack was the beginning of war in the Pacific on the 7th of December 1941. In
just two bombings the Japanese had accomplished the sinking or damaging of 21 American ships,
destroyed 188 aircraft and damaged 159, killed nearly 2400 American military personnel and
wounded over 1000 people (including civilians). This surprise attack caused the fall of signore attack,
uniting America to work for the Allied military victory, as until this attack they were divided over the

By this time the Japanese had begun their attack on Singapore, the island at the southern end of the

through the Malay jungle towards Singapore, with Japanese aircraft bombing Singapore s key sites, at

the 8th forces streamed into Singapore across the narrow straights of Jahore, on the island s north

Australian defenders were spread to thinly and were quickly forced back by wave after wave of

SSMU3.1 Understanding Sensory Loss
Gemma Nelson (Ashcroft House)
1.1 Analyse how a range of factors can impact on individuals with sensory loss
* Impact on Communication
Sensory loss can frequently lead to isolation and frustration at not being able to communicate
efficiently with other people. With hearing loss, day to day activities such as hearing a doorbell, using
the telephone, watching television or taking part in conversations can produce feelings of inadequacy
within the individual. Not being able to distinguish faces, read the time on a clock or drive can
produce the same feelings in a person who has vision loss. Hearing loss interferes with face to face
communication and can often cause older people to lose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society is better than it used to be at recognising the needs of deaf people; there are more public
buildings such as cinemas, theatres and conference facilities that have loop systems so that people
who can use hearing aids are able to listen to what is being said or performed. There some events that
now have signers to translate speeches and performances. Many television programmes now have
access to subtitles and some have signers, although these tend to be late at night. People with any kind
of sensory loss can have difficulties in finding employment. Even though the Equality Act and the
Disability Discrimination Act mean that employers cannot discriminate, it is hard to convince an
employer that a sensory loss does not necessarily mean that someone is unable to do a job.
Attitudes such as these can make it difficult for people to maintain self esteem and can destroy
confidence, with the result that they will attempt less, rely on others more and potentially lose their
independence. However, there have been some major shifts in attitudes as initiatives such as Our
Health Our Care Our Say , Putting People First and Valuing People are changing how we look at
disability and making people aware that all disabled people have the right to take a full part in society.

Private Equity Investment
Private Equity (PE) investment is an asset class that is bought and sold in a privately negotiated
transaction and is not publicly traded on a stock exchange. This investment is normally completed by
private equity firm, venture capital firm, or an informal investor named business angel. They raise
funds and invest it on behalf of their investors. There are four most well known investment strategies,
i.e. venture capital (VC), leveraged buy out (LBO), mezzanine debt and distressed debt investments. It
is distinguishable that VC usually targets the start up firms while LBO purchases majority control in a
developed and mature firm. The total global PE assets under management (AUM) in 2013 has climbed
up to $3,466 billion, the highest value to date and has remained a steadily growth throughout the past
6 years after financial crisis (Appendix figure 1). This is partially attributed to a sharp decline of exit
activity resulted from crisis, led to more capital calls, improved fundraising and thus expansion of
AUM.
Between 1990 and 2008, capital committed in PE were growing at 20% compounding rate annually,
with some acquired firms have become popular due to the popularity of PE, such as Domino s Pizza

Thesis statement: A concert would not be possible without considering the importance of an organized

Successful concerts are what performers and organizer and audiences all hope for. This not only
means the thoughtful programming of quality music, but also a smoothly run performance and
production. Therefore, a lot of planning and making sure that everything is in order is the key to a
successful all out concert (Hudson, 2012). According to Vertudez, one of our interviewees, Planning

Currently, the Philippines has only two main concert venues that can occupy 10, 000 people
specifically, the Smart Araneta Coliseum and the SM Mall of Asia Arena. In 2014, the Philippine
Arena is expected to be opened in Bulacan. Even if it is being built by a religious congregation, the
said venue can still be available for other big events for it has 50, 000 sitting capacity. These venues
have comfortable seats and strict policies which make them best concert venues in the city. They have
more available facilities than open concert grounds because of sufficient air conditioning systems and
well maintained toilets. All of these are considered to put up concert facilities (Concepcion, 2011).
In order for a concert to be possible, it is necessary to need a committee. It is an important factor to
consider having to appoint a management team to ensure that the facilities in the concert are in good
condition. Furthermore, the team responsible in organizing the facilities should also be divided into

How Did Adolf Hitler s Rise To Power
Adolf Hitler s young life actions and outcomes made him into the man he was. He fought in World
War I (WWI) as a young soldier. Hitler s rise to power was interesting. He was given power from the
death of the previous man in power. During his time of power Adolf started the Holocaust which
affected the lives of millions, and killed millions of innocent people, he did so because of a belief of
the Jews in 1918. Hitler ended up dying in the end just like any other person but he died in an
interesting and fashionable way. Some believe he didn t even die at that time at all, people still
question and don t know if he died from suicide or if he ran off into hiding for a long time.
Considering Adolf Hitler s infamous actions as a major leader, it is safe to say that his childhood,
beginnings as a soldier, and the Nazi Party/Holocaust, all play a major role in his rise to power, and
how his life turned out. Hitler was a man that wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chromium Essay
Chromium, the seventh most abundant element on earth is a transition metal from group VI B .It is
found in nature as the bound form constituting approximately 0.1 0.3 mg.g 1 of the earth s crust. The
name of the element is derived from the Greek word chroma meaning color, because many of its
compounds are intensely colored. Cr is able to exist in several oxidation states, of which the trivalent
Cr (III) and hexavalent Cr (VI) species are the most stable and abundant forms (Zayed Terry et al.,
2003).
The most stable form of chromium is its trivalent oxidation state which is primarily found geologically
as chromite (FeCr2O4) (Cervantes et al., 2001). Cr (III) is naturally occurring, whereas Cr (VI) is of
anthropogenic origin. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deficiency of chromium has been implicated in impaired insulin action, which can cause glucose
intolerance, elevated glucose blood levels, diabetes, elevated cholesterol levels, obesity and heart
diseases, as well as other conditions not yet documented. Chromium is considered the cofactor for all
the actions of the hormone insulin, primarily the regulation of carbohydrate, protein and fat
metabolism. Signs of chromium deficiency are widespread; they tend to be associated with aging, and
are consistent with the progressive decline in body and organ content of chromium from birth onward.
Chromium deficiency impairs glucose utilization and disturbs protein and lipid metabolism
The biological effect of chromium is highly dependent on its oxidation state. Cr(VI) is highly toxic
and has been shown to be a mutagen and carcinogen, whereas Cr(III) is considered to be relatively
innocuous, probably due to the inability of Cr(III) to penetrate cells (Cervantes et al., 2001; Codd et
al., 2001).Chromate alone does not react with DNA in vitro, however, in the presence of reductants a
wide variety of DNA lesions, including Cr DNA adducts, DNA DNA crosslinks, DNA protein
crosslinks and oxidative damage occurs (Codd et al., 2001).
Under normal physiological conditions, Cr6+ reacts spontaneously with the intracellular reductants
(e.g. ascorbate and glutathione) to generate the short lived intermediates Cr5+ and/or Cr4+ free
radicals and the end product Cr3+

Security Analysis of Web-Based Conferencing Platforms vs....
Security Analysis of Web based Conferencing Platforms versus Face to Face Meetings Introduction
Technologies are increasingly being relied on to streamline communication, collaboration and also
drastically reduce costs of operations. As travel costs have continued to escalate, companies are
increasingly relying on digital and Web based forms of communication. One of the most rapidly
growing continues to be the use of Web conferencing or teleconferencing. It is estimated that nearly
15 million small and medium businesses in the U.S. rely on Web conferencing on a daily basis to
complete projects and build unified teams (Baez, 2012). There are nearly 25 million users of Web
Conferencing solutions daily throughout the world s top 100 corporations, as these worldwide
enterprises look to unify the intelligence and knowledge of their employees across departments,
divisions and programs groups (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). Cisco has even taken Web Conferencing a
step further and creating a telepresence platform that allows individuals to communicate literally as if
they were in person, speaking to team rooms (Baez, 2012). While there have been many studies done
on the relative merits of these systems, the most telling are the Return on Investment (ROI) analyses
completed, which consistently show Web conferencing systems generate positive Return on
Investment in two years or less in the majority of instances (Suduc, Bîzoi, Filip, 2009). With the
economic factors so in favor of

exhibit mental illness) and the criminal justice system. The paper will be broken down into areas
focusing on the issues that exists for and between the law enforcement officials and those who have
mental illness and end up involved in the penial justice system. Individuals who have mental health
issues are special cases that will be addressed within this paper with the focus being how they end
upon the wrong side of the law and more importantly how they are treated by the criminal justice
system when this occurs. By studying this subject from a historical context will enable the writer to

Enlightenment In Siddhartha
Siddhartha Dreams For some, dreams can be a guidance for what one wants in life. The protagonist,
Siddhartha, sets out on a journey to find his enlightenment. Siddhartha uses many ways to find
himself, such as; becoming a samana with Govinda, buddhism, and then he finds himself by listening
to the river. Siddhartha leaves his father in hopes of enlightenment, and nonetheless feels his soul
merge with unity and achieves his ultimate goal. For the first time he hears all of the voices of the
river, not as many voices, but as one single continuum of life. These dreams are a guide for Siddhartha
because his dreams represent his goals in life; to find himself. For example, Siddhartha says to the
Brahman, With your permission, Father. I have come to tell you that I desire to leave your house
tomorrow and go to the ascetics. To become a samana is my desire. I hope my father will not oppose
this. (Hesse 8) This shows how even though his father does not approve of his desire, he still sets out
on this journey. Siddhartha s ultimate dream is to find his enlightenment, and he will never stop
looking for it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Much like how he listens to the river. Siddhartha doubted himself while having his life with Kamala.
He doubted himself so much whereas he starts gambling and drinking, because of his unhappiness

and the pleasure garden. As he had not had any food that day he felt extremely hungry, and thought of
his house in town, of his room and bed, of the table with food. He smiled wearily, shook his head and
said good bye to these things. (Hesse 68) This shows that Siddhartha knew what was better for him.
He would rather have found himself than be overwhelmed with riches and love. Siddhartha knew to
listen to his dreams because that is what he wanted in

What Is Marginalization In Tourism
The Marginalization Error The Caribbean is a popular area to vacation and visit. The great weather,
the beautiful scenery, and endless resorts that people can choose from create an attractive destination.
Once on the island, tourist are graced with an amazing view of the island, great customer service, and
remarkable accommodations. Yet, at what cost? Typically, a tourist would answer with the response of
money and time being the cost. But, how do islanders feel; at what expense must temporal pleasures
be bought for tourists? In her story, A Small Place, Jamaica Kincaid defines tourists as, ugly things
because tourist visit islands to escape their mundane lives while islanders do not have the same luxury
to watch other peoples lives like a spectacle at their disposal (14). Other stories such as Visiting , by
Roger McTair, and articles such as It s Time to Take the Virgin Islands Out of the Closet, by Devin
Robinson, share similar and eye opening dilemmas derived from tourist marginalizing islanders and
the deceitful nature that attracts tourists. The relationship between islanders and tourists is growing
increasingly bitter due to the causes of islanders being envious of tourists affluence, resorts being
deceptive in what the islands have to offer (and what they consist of), and tourists marginalize
islanders into the sole purpose of pleasing them and enhancing their Caribbean experience. In the
story, A Small Place, Jamaica Kincaid reveals an honest perception of

Elevated Blood Pressure
Blood pressure readings are noted in two separate areas, the systolic and diastole. The systole (top
number) is the pressure within the arteries when the heart is contracting and pushing the blood
forward. When a blood pressure is above the normal range this is notation that the heart is having to
work harder to pump the blood properly within the system. The diastole (bottom number) is the
pressure within the arteries when the heart is relaxed. A normal blood pressure reading is 120/80,
139/89 is pre hypertensive and 140/90 and higher is labeled as hypertensive. Elevated blood pressures
can be divided into two separate categories, this is primary and secondary hypertension (HTN) (Egan
Zhao, 2013). Primary Hypertension, also known as essential hypertension is a type of elevated blood
pressure in which there is no identifiable cause. It is noted to be a complex interplay, including; ...

Early Contractor Procurement Essays
Summary
Intro
What is early contractor procurement?
Early Contractor Procurement is a way to get the contractor involved before the construction phase
begins, (Mosey, 2011). The idea of this is to make use of the contractor and their knowledge and
understanding of the construction industry. This means fewer disputes over design issues.
When the client has invested time and money into design, and the contractor isn t involved, and then is
expected to complete all the work, it is likely for there to be disputes but the client would be missing
out on the contractor s ideas on how to save on costs. So is partnering up early on and getting to know
the job, the client and its goals the right way to go?
When this is done it is called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers join the project team as early as possible and
participate in appropriate stages of
Design review and specialist design contributions, including added value proposals n issues such as
sustainability;
Risk management and value engineering to reduce costs;
Price finalisation through second tier tenders or supplemental works package business cases;
Construction phase programming, to establish deadlines for the key deliverables of all parties; (Mosey,
2011).
What is wrong with single stage tendering?
Single stage tendering prices are based on incomplete information. That the client has to understand
and take into consideration when looking into the risk of the project. This creates a false sense of
security and a situation where both parties are looking to pick holes in the design work. Robert Smith
calls it legalised gambling as the attractive apparent cost is balanced with the sureness with transfer of
risk (Smith, 1995) page 44, cited in (Mosey, 2011).
The single stage approach also excludes the contractor, its subcontractors and suppliers from
everything pre construction phase, meaning that they cannot contribute towards ways of saving costs.
So there is little that the client can do to make these changes as they didn t have this initial
communication (Mosey,

The Purity and Purification of Solids-Melting Point Essay
Introduction: The method for purifying solids is done by observing the melting point. This is
important because if there is an impure substance the melting point would be depression and the
melting range would be broader. By finding the melting point of a known substance one can then
observe an unknown substance s melting point to see if the points are the same and try to figure out
the unknown.
Experimental Section: The first known substance we used was Biphenyl. 68 degrees Celsius is the
known melting point. We used the capillary method and observed the melting point using a Mel temp
device. The next substance whose melting point we observed was 90 % Naphthalene, 10 % Biphenyl.
In the last part of the experiment I observed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Trial Three 114.4 107.1 114.4
The next table shows the melting points of the mixtures made to determine the Unknown. Melting

Trial One: 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E 117.2 80.8 117.2
Trial Two: 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E 118.1 81.8 118.1
Trial One: Acetanilide and Unknown E 115.1 106.7 115.1
Trial Two: Acetanilide and Unknown E 113.6 102.0 113.6
Discussion: In part A the melting points I observed were similar to those of my classmates. During the
first trial the temperature was climbing quickly and the Biphenyl melted quickly. During the next two
trials the Mel temp was set at a lower setting and our melting point was closer to the known melting
point.
Conclusion: I have determined that Unknown E is Acetanilide. The melting point of the mixtures was
very close to the melting point of plain Unknown E. The 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E s mixture
had to high of a melting point. Based on my results and observations I would conclude that Unknown
E is Acetanilide.

Negative Aspects Of Cultural Relativism
Whether we choose to actively acknowledge it or not, Cultural Relativism plays an integral role in our
everyday lives. Cultural Relativism is a theory that is based on the fact that society dictates what is
morally wrong or right. However, just because society approves of certain actions, does not mean that
the actions are morally right. Societies as a whole can and will have mishaps from time to time. In
addition to this, Cultural Relativists do not believe in progress; these individuals presume that
circumstances change. Cultural Relativists also adhere to the core belief that everyone s ideas are
morally equivalent. Though this ideology is the preferred choice of a majority of philosophers, there is
a multitude of flaws that challenge the crux of what we know as Cultural Relativism. In this paper, I
will present two problematic aspects of Cultural Relativism. From there I will then present their
counter arguments, and evaluate the Cultural Relativists response to these criticisms.
For many years the United States was a hostile environment for a vast majority of African Americans
living in certain areas. These individuals were considered less than human and were segregated and
stripped of basically all of their socio economic rights. According to Cultural relativists this constant
degradation and denial of basic human rights were considered right; since society deemed it morally
right then it must have been morally right. But as I mentioned earlier societies as a whole can have
misguided views. The horrible injustices that these individuals faced were objectively wrong. This
constant mistreatment created a constant tension between citizens of the United States. It also
polarized the nation one side was all for the marginalization of the African American people and the
other side supported African Americans fighting for their rights. This sort of belief that was considered
morally right, was in fact quite debilitating for the United States. When faced with such an issue, a
cultural relativist would argue this point by saying along the lines of this: individuals who were on the
outside looking in have no idea what the American Culture of this time period was; if you are not an
active participant in this

Susannah Grant s In Her Shoes, The 5th Wave
Susannah Grant s (In Her Shoes, The 5th Wave) screenplay for this film was done successfully. It
presented many powerful dialogue points for a lot of the characters, Erin especially. Erins character is
presented positively as well as negatively through the dialogue in the film. In doing this Grant shows
that Erin has a somewhat explosive personality. Some positive things about Erins personality explored
through the dialogue in the film is that she quite often expresses herself very clearly, not only this but
she stands up for herself and what s right, she s not afraid to get her point across, and she is not afraid
to ask for help or what she deserves. The dialogue showing all this demonstrates to the audience that
Erin is a strong, independant woman. When Erin fires off in the courtroom at the beginning of the film
and then later on in the film goes on to insult Brenda by saying Bite my ass, Krispy Kreme! , as well
as makes many sexual comments throughout the film. The audience is able to see that Grant is

Barak Lost Link With The Natural World
During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful
and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people
and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern
world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production
of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This
to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we
live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too
often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a
self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous
routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our
bond with nature.
Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The
film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are
becoming forgetful of it. Images of parents driving their children in different countries to school, to
me was a metaphor of delivering them to this promised future of success. In the film this was
juxtaposed to a scene where an innocent child confined to poverty is looking

Core Functions of Case Management
The case management process consists of five parts: assessment, treatment planning, linking,
advocacy, and monitoring. It is not a linear process and does not follow the order it is written up.
There may be some back and forth and returning to certain points.
Screening
Contact between an addictions counsellor and a client is usually initiated by the client referring
him/her self, an outside agency refers them, family physician or the addictions counsellor initiates
contact through outreach or other agencies. Assessment can be seen as the beginning of treatment and
it becomes an opportunity to encourage the client to begin to move towards change. The initial
assessment involves a mutual investigation and exploration between the client ... Show more content

Although the main goal of the assessment is to refer clients to treatment, many clients refuse
treatment. However, they are willing to accept referrals to non addiction agencies to resolve problems
that have either been caused by addiction or that led to the problems. This assessment may be an
intervention that the client needs. You will want to use the appropriate research based screening tools
that may be applicable to the client s individual circumstances.
Treatment Planning
The treatment planning process helps the client select the level and intensity of treatment that works
best for them. When planning treatment the counsellor can consider preferences and the services
available. The treatment plan may change over time but it provides a focus for ongoing support. The
treatment plan comprises of two main functions, it allows for a negotiation between the client and
assessor for specific interventions to address the identified problems as well as allows them to develop
a manageable plan. It is important when negotiating with the client that the counsellor listens to what
the client wants and is capable of undertaking with agreement to implement. Each client is unique and
every treatment plan should also be tailored to meet his or her needs. The client must agree to all
aspects of the plan. The treatment involves four stages, prioritizing problem areas and exploring
options with the client, matching services available to the client s

What Is Good And Evil In The Prophet
Some people believe that poetry is written only by mournful men and women with hate filled and evil
behaviors. Khalil Gibran shows us that many other uses of poetry can be used to express ideas on a
widely debated topic on good and evil. In William Golding s, Lord of the Flies, and Khalil Gibran,
The Prophet, their extremely different views of good and evil are apparent. Golding proclaims that
evil is in everyone, and that they are born with it from the beginning. On the other hand, Gibran
suggests that everyone is inherently good and born pure, and evil is just being lost or uninspired.
First, Golding seems to imply that when the group of boys are evil to begin with. For instance they

Gibran shows that everyone is inherently good, but Describes evil as lost and uninspired. Gibran
writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran challenges and
raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a different form. The
author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the beginning, and that we should
be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they suffer from greater poverty than the
homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in
angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when
one does what may appear to be wrong or evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind
world and can t see clear, and not to judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human
nature completely opposite, since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome.
Maybe [...] there is a beast [...]What I mean is... maybe it s only us. (90 91). There is a large difference
between Gibran s view on evil and Golding s view on evil. Golding thinks that evil is in everyone
from the very beginning, and are born with it. However, Gibran thinks that evil comes from good

  • 2. Compare The Transition From The Gilded Age To The... The great Chinese philosopher Confucius stated, Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. When observing the transformation the United States has undergone over centuries, great reforms have been made. Pinpointing a specific time is from 1890 to 1916. This period marks the transformation from the Gilded Age to the Progressive Era. The Progressive Era arrived as a result of the social, political, and economic turbulence brought by the industrialization that occurred during the Gilded Age. The imperative topics addressed during the transformation were the relenting labor question, political corruption, and gender roles within American society. These matters jointly brought many reformers, social groups, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They unveiled corruption and social inequality. They also exposed child labor and hazardous living and working conditions. One of the most famous books written during the era of the Muckraker was Upton Sinclair s novel The Jungle, published in 1906. This novel highlighted the treacherous conditions in slaughterhouses and showcased that rotten meat being sold to the American public (Foner, 680). This outraged many Americans. As a result, The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 and the Pure Food and Drug Act were passed to combat the discontent that surfaced with the novel. Photographer Lewis Hine captured child labor to highlight the enormous amount of child laborers and to showcase the substantial social inequality. As a result, states began to pass laws banning child labor. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson passed the Keating Owens Act, which outlawed child labor in manufacturing. The Muckrakers humiliated the government by publishing works that brought great displeasure to the American people and showcased public dilemma. • 3. Guilt In The Play Macbeth By Veronica Roth Guilt provides a painful consequence for actions... When people feel guilty a study found that they usually do one of two things. They try to do something thoughtful for either the person they hurt, or simply anyone they know. As a result, guilty people feel as if they need to do something to make up for what they have done in order to make themselves feel less guilty (Markman). In the play Macbeth, written by Shakespeare, Macbeth handles his remorse differently. Shakespeare communicates to the audience that power corrupts even the most loyal people leaving them with an overwhelming feeling of guilt. In the Divergent series by Veronica Roth, characters also show feelings of remorse due to their reactions on events in their life which leads to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lady Macbeth was found sleepwalking one night by one of her maids. She muttered in her sleep The Thane of Fife had a wife. Where is she now? What, will these hands ne er be clean? (Shakespeare V, i, 9 10). Lady Macbeth is trying to scrub her hand clean of guilt but nothing can wash away what her and Macbeth have done. Even though Lady Macbeth did not murder anyone she feels culpable for the actions of Macbeth and the death of the people in her kingdom. In the same way, Tris, a character from the Divergent series, found herself in a situation killing her close friend Will. Tris wakes from a dream remembering her nightmare For a moment I see Will standing before me.... I could have shot his hand, why didn t I, why? and I almost scream his name. Then hes gone. (Roth, 10). Before Tris could process the situation she had shot Will in the chest. The effect of Tris killing Will and Lady Macbeth partly to blame for King Duncan s death led them to a subconscious remorse because they both could not tell anyone else how they feel or what they have done. • 4. Does Our Increasingly Mechanized World Cause Us You Feel... Does our increasingly mechanized world cause us to feel alienated? It can be argued that life has never been so easy. We are surrounded by plentitudes. food is freely available in the West. Information is taken for granted, and we often dont want for nothing. Yet there are signs and many reasons to suggest that we are far from happy despite this new age of overabundance and the freedom it affords us. Life in this age is unsatisfying for many, with people exhibiting clear signs of dissastisfaction, and a sense of unease and angst. Our society and all its needs for advancement from technology and overabundance is our chosen answer to all our problems, and we rely on such things for a higher quality and easier life. Yet, it doesnt seem to be getting better, our problems continue and in ways even increase as a result of our incessant progression towards a brighter future. Amidst the massive changes in society we face, we as a result constantly question our reality and purpose within it, and this rapid mechanized world usually pushes aside any sense of community. I think a capitalist; consumerist society creates in us a sense of alienation entirely new to our modern times. I want to understand the deeper reasons behind this, not only because i think it is very important but also because i feel it is largely misunderstand and overlooked for such a huge complicated issue within our society. • 5. Comparison Of The Inflow Wind Velocity Fluctuations On The... In this section, LES via vortex method was utilized to investigate the inflow wind velocity fluctuations on the pressure distribution over the roof surface of TTU full scale building. In total, the results of three CFD LES cases are presented in this section as follows: (1) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=25%, TLS=10m); (2) CFD LES at location 7 (TI=30%, TLS=15m); (3) CFD LES at location 3 (TI=25%, TLS=10m). The results of mean and peak pressure distribution over the roof surface for each cases are compared with full scale field measurements and wind tunnel data within the next sub sections accordingly. Comparison of Mean and Peak Pressure Coefficients Figure 13 represents the counters of mean surface pressure coefficients for full scale CFD ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Figure 15 and Figure 16, the results show that the roof peak pressure contours of a full scale building simulated by the developed CFD LES model 1 at location 7 with input parameters of TI=25%, and TLS=10m are very similar to the TTU full scale field measurements. This is again another proof that if an accurate turbulence closure, like LES, and appropriate inlet velocity fluctuations (for instance using vortex method with tuned input parameters) are implemented in CFD, the numerical model can be utilized for appropriate estimation of peak and standard deviation of pressure distributions on low rise buildings within the numerical model. In addition, in all three CFD LES models, high negative pressure values (suction effects) were observed near the corner and edges of the windward side of the roof similar to the TTU field data which are the spots on the roof that separation bubbles start developing in a fluctuating manner. Identifying the extend of these regions will help to design appropriate mitigation features for surpassing the high suctions at corner and edges on the roof. Figure 15 (c) and Figure 16 (c) show that reproducing peak pressures in wind tunnel is, however, a big challenge due to its limitation to correctly reproduce important flow characteristics and inherent scale issue with ... Strassler, the Peloponnesian War was conducted between 431 401 BC among Athenians and Spartans ancient Greece states cities with their respective alliance. Main objective of the war was struggle for empire domination, and fear of being dominating. The Athenian and Spartans were the main rival powers. The Athenians were dominant in sea power, in the other hand, Spartans were strong in land power. As the result of limitation in either power, that created misbalance on military capability. Both cities tried to have symmetric military capability by forming alliance. The Athenians national interest was expanding their empire by supporting their allies from Sparta lead alliance country. Due to this reason, the Athenian deployed their forces to Sicily two times. Finally, after repeated effort, the assembly voted to expeditions. It could benefited to vote the advice of Nicias, because his advice was better than Alcibiades. Profeta, the author mentions a time when people died in places with happy memories that were forgotten once technology began to develop. Because dying in a familiar environment was the old way of letting a beloved person pass, Profeta uses circular structure to explore how every family wants to preserve their loved one s life even if the person wants to die. Some families were able to let their special ones pass with the last days [s]pent with familiar sounds, in a familiar room, with familiar smells, that gave her a final chance to summon memories that will help carry her away (Profeta). As a result, many would see how their beloved ones would want to stay in a comfortable place to leave with happy memories rather than trying to give their families false hope. Additionally, instead of trying to come up with more ways to save a life of a person that wants to rest in peace, the doctors and families chose to do what they should instead of what they could and with that we will close our eyes to familiar sounds in a familiar room, a fleeting smile and a final soft squeeze of a familiar hand (Profeta). Technology is often thought as something that can be used for everything but when some can not depend on it anymore, many will become aware of their surroundings. Families will see how they were not aware of how their loved ones felt when they had no hope of surviving. • 8. A Critique For Clt. Name: Esraa Galal Salama Haiba M.A 2016 program A Critique for CLT There has been a big shift in teaching languages away from the old traditional ways to the notion of CLT, but like any modern notion, it should not be followed blindly by all institutions in all parts of the world. To make the decision of whether or not it should be used in a particular class, so many variables need to be examined including; the aims for learning and teaching a language, the actual teaching process, the cultural acceptance and appropriateness of CLT, and the readiness for teachers to use it. What is CLT? Where did it come from? Communicative language teaching (CLT) is based on the idea that language is but a mean for communication, and so its primary goal is to achieve, what is called, communicative competence. For CLT, a good language learner is one who can communicate well in a real life situation that which involves a lot of strategies to keep a meaningful conversation and to avoid any communication gap. Unlike the audio lingual method, which originally originated from behaviorism, CLT did not have any psychological background. Thus, all that CLT material developers and syllabus designers had was the broad theory that students learn best by doing. It was all based on the general assumption that the learners communicative competence develops automatically through their active participation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The three proteinogenic BCAAs are among the nine key amino acids for people, representing 35% of the crucial amino acids in muscle proteins and 40% of the preformed amino acids needed by warm blooded animals. Breaking down of bcaa Degradation of cellucor bcaa includes the branched chain alpha keto corrosive dehydrogenase complex (BCKDH). • 11. An Environmental Assessment ( Ea ) For Maryland Gas ... QUESTION PRESENTED Did FERC s issuance of an Environmental Assessment (EA) and corresponding Finding of no Significant Impact (FONSI) for Maryland Gas 400 Line pipeline project violate NEPA? Should the Sierra Club sue FERC over this issue? SHORT ANSWER Yes. FERC s EA violated NEPA s requirement to consider the cumulative and indirect impacts of a proposed project. While FERC did consider some indirect impacts of the 400 Line project, FERC failed to analyze the 400 Line in conjunction with two connected pipeline projects: the 500 Line and the 600 Line. FERC s fragmented analysis violates NEPA s requirement that environmental review consider interdependent parts of a larger action (40 C.F.R. § 1508.25a). Other potential objections to FERC s EA, including the project s effects on endangered species and FERC s failure to analyze certain alternative arrangements, have a smaller and less certain likelihood of legal success. FERC provided a reasoned explanation for most of their choices, and will thus receive generous deference from any reviewing court on those issues. FERC, though, failed to mention either of the two related pipeline projects in the EA, so the Sierra Club will have a strong case that FERC did not meet the requirement, cited in Robertson v. Methow Valley Citizens Council, 490 U.S. 332 (1989), to take a hard look at the environmental consequences of the 400 Line pipeline. FACTS See prompt. Being a small company due to its size of employees, one of the things they are doing right is being able to set expectations and implement those within the organization. As a smaller company, the accountant s decision to switch to pre numbered invoices and the purchase of an indelible ink machine was a good idea and investment. The pre numbered invoices will prevent transactions from being recorded multiple times. With the internal control system this will require that the employees forward their source documents for the accounting entries. The indelible ink machine will help organize all of the accounting duties. We recommended that LJB Company purchase an indelible ink machine to print all employees and cut checks. With the indelible ink machine this will make it difficult for unauthorized users to endorse checks and be approved. This will cut down on fraud and theft within the company. Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report 2010 The Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for Migration. 2010). In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were approximately the same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation of world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous migration stage of Turks was in the II VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to find fruitful lands. Especially, during the Migration Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe because of famine. Moreover, some Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and extend their pastures. There are four most well known investment strategies, i.e. venture capital (VC), leveraged buy out (LBO), mezzanine debt and distressed debt investments. Cr is able to exist in several oxidation states, of which the trivalent Cr (III) and hexavalent Cr (VI) species are the most stable and abundant forms (Zayed Terry et al., 2003). Signs of chromium deficiency are widespread; they tend to be associated with aging, and are consistent with the progressive decline in body and organ content of chromium from birth onward. Chromium deficiency impairs glucose utilization and disturbs protein and lipid metabolism The biological effect of chromium is highly dependent on its oxidation state. The melting point of the mixtures was very close to the melting point of plain Unknown E. The 2 Chloracetamide and Unknown E s mixture had to high of a melting point. Based on my results and observations I would conclude that Unknown E is Acetanilide. References: Fessenden, Fessenden, and Feist. Organic Laboratory Techniques. 3rd Edition. Brooks/Cole. • 30. Negative Aspects Of Cultural Relativism Whether we choose to actively acknowledge it or not, Cultural Relativism plays an integral role in our everyday lives. Cultural Relativism is a theory that is based on the fact that society dictates what is morally wrong or right. However, just because society approves of certain actions, does not mean that the actions are morally right. Societies as a whole can and will have mishaps from time to time. In addition to this, Cultural Relativists do not believe in progress; these individuals presume that circumstances change. Cultural Relativists also adhere to the core belief that everyone s ideas are morally equivalent. Though this ideology is the preferred choice of a majority of philosophers, there is a multitude of flaws that challenge the crux of what we know as Cultural Relativism. In this paper, I will present two problematic aspects of Cultural Relativism. From there I will then present their counter arguments, and evaluate the Cultural Relativists response to these criticisms. For many years the United States was a hostile environment for a vast majority of African Americans living in certain areas. These individuals were considered less than human and were segregated and stripped of basically all of their socio economic rights. According to Cultural relativists this constant degradation and denial of basic human rights were considered right; since society deemed it morally right then it must have been morally right. But as I mentioned earlier societies as a whole can have misguided views. The horrible injustices that these individuals faced were objectively wrong. This constant mistreatment created a constant tension between citizens of the United States. It also polarized the nation one side was all for the marginalization of the African American people and the other side supported African Americans fighting for their rights. This sort of belief that was considered morally right, was in fact quite debilitating for the United States. When faced with such an issue, a cultural relativist would argue this point by saying along the lines of this: individuals who were on the outside looking in have no idea what the American Culture of this time period was; if you are not an active participant in this ... • 31. Susannah Grant s In Her Shoes, The 5th Wave Susannah Grant s (In Her Shoes, The 5th Wave) screenplay for this film was done successfully. It presented many powerful dialogue points for a lot of the characters, Erin especially. Erins character is presented positively as well as negatively through the dialogue in the film. In doing this Grant shows that Erin has a somewhat explosive personality. Some positive things about Erins personality explored through the dialogue in the film is that she quite often expresses herself very clearly, not only this but she stands up for herself and what s right, she s not afraid to get her point across, and she is not afraid to ask for help or what she deserves. The dialogue showing all this demonstrates to the audience that Erin is a strong, independant woman. When Erin fires off in the courtroom at the beginning of the film and then later on in the film goes on to insult Brenda by saying Bite my ass, Krispy Kreme! , as well as makes many sexual comments throughout the film. The audience is able to see that Grant is portraying Erin s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means to defend something that we feel is legally, ethically or morally correct. There are many examples of this during the film, which are shown by Erin as she is strong minded woman who never gave up on the things she believed in. Erin never gives up on the case and continued to work and fight for the Hinkley residents to get the best results, Erin also defends herself and her knowledge of the case and the law to the other lawyers, she also stands up for herself when she is fired by Ed and manages to get her job back, Not only all this, but she stand by what she believes in, her work on the case, when George told her to choose, because she was standing up for what was right legally, ethically and morally. Soderbergh in turn conveyed this message extremely well to the audience as, as stated above Erin was constantly standing up for what she thought was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Barak Lost Link With The Natural World During a world literature class, we watched a film called Baraka, which was cinematically beautiful and restored within me this lost link with the natural world. It was a compilation of footage of people and places all over the world, spliced together to form this story of the lives we lead in this modern world. The film juxtaposed the hectic environment of the machinery that drives the mass production of consumer goods with footage of serene Japanese snow monkeys relaxing in hot spring baths. This to me represented how unnatural the world filled with technology and mass consumption in which we live really is and how it fares poorly when compared with the natural world. It caught my eye that too often as human beings we are caught up in the motions of life. As I was watching, I was undergoing a self realization that we forget that we have some other purpose in life besides our monotonous routines. We aren t just some specks under the sprawling skyscrapers and cities, we must retain our bond with nature. Baraka presented these subliminal images that I could easily develop into connections to my life. The film illustrated the being of nature that exists around us and how indiscreetly we human beings are becoming forgetful of it. Images of parents driving their children in different countries to school, to me was a metaphor of delivering them to this promised future of success. In the film this was juxtaposed to a scene where an innocent child confined to poverty is looking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Core Functions of Case Management The case management process consists of five parts: assessment, treatment planning, linking, advocacy, and monitoring. It is not a linear process and does not follow the order it is written up. There may be some back and forth and returning to certain points. Screening Contact between an addictions counsellor and a client is usually initiated by the client referring him/her self, an outside agency refers them, family physician or the addictions counsellor initiates contact through outreach or other agencies. Assessment can be seen as the beginning of treatment and it becomes an opportunity to encourage the client to begin to move towards change. The initial assessment involves a mutual investigation and exploration between the client ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the main goal of the assessment is to refer clients to treatment, many clients refuse treatment. However, they are willing to accept referrals to non addiction agencies to resolve problems that have either been caused by addiction or that led to the problems. This assessment may be an intervention that the client needs. You will want to use the appropriate research based screening tools that may be applicable to the client s individual circumstances. Treatment Planning The treatment planning process helps the client select the level and intensity of treatment that works best for them. When planning treatment the counsellor can consider preferences and the services available. The treatment plan may change over time but it provides a focus for ongoing support. The treatment plan comprises of two main functions, it allows for a negotiation between the client and assessor for specific interventions to address the identified problems as well as allows them to develop a manageable plan. It is important when negotiating with the client that the counsellor listens to what the client wants and is capable of undertaking with agreement to implement. Each client is unique and every treatment plan should also be tailored to meet his or her needs. The client must agree to all aspects of the plan. The treatment involves four stages, prioritizing problem areas and exploring options with the client, matching services available to the client s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. What Is Good And Evil In The Prophet Some people believe that poetry is written only by mournful men and women with hate filled and evil behaviors. Khalil Gibran shows us that many other uses of poetry can be used to express ideas on a widely debated topic on good and evil. In William Golding s, Lord of the Flies, and Khalil Gibran, The Prophet, their extremely different views of good and evil are apparent. Golding proclaims that evil is in everyone, and that they are born with it from the beginning. On the other hand, Gibran suggests that everyone is inherently good and born pure, and evil is just being lost or uninspired. First, Golding seems to imply that when the group of boys are evil to begin with. For instance they abandon their civilized ways, they start acting according ... Gibran writes For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? (2) Gibran challenges and raises a new question of whether evil is actually the goodness in you but in a different form. The author of the poem also states that everyone is inherently good from the beginning, and that we should be compassionate to those who are selfish and cruel, for they suffer from greater poverty than the homeless. The author shows us that maybe that good in others it is a flat stream that loses itself in angles and bends and lingers before it reaches the shore. (). This helps people realize not judge when one does what may appear to be wrong or evil , it s just that you re divided and living in your blind world and can t see clear, and not to judge someone too soon.On the other hand, Golding views human nature completely opposite, since the desire to kill and hunt is in all of us rooted in our genome.
