The Prague Spring Trio, And Alex
Introduction In establishing an enforceable contract it must first be held that there is an agreement
between the Prague Spring Trio (PST) and Alex. In order for an agreement to be upheld, there are two
elements which must be established. First, it must then be identified that an offer was made by one
party and a second party accepted this offer. Secondly, a contract comes into existence once the
acceptance of an offer has been communicated to the offeror. Therefore, this assignment will discuss
and advise whether Alex made an offer to the PST and whether the band accepted this offer by
communicating it to Alex. Additionally, whether any consideration has been provided, and whether the
circumstances lead to the application of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advertisement is classified as an invitation to treat. An offer is distinguished from an invitation to
treat as it allows individuals to provide offers or enter into negotiations. Similar to that of
Pharmaceutical Society, the offer is when Alex applied for the saxophonist position, comparable to
when the customer picks the bottle of medicine from the shelves and places it on the cash register.
This does not amount to acceptance, it is merely an offer of which the band has discretion to negotiate
terms or reject the offer. Acceptance Acceptance is assessed on whether there was a meeting of the
minds and that the acceptance corresponds with the offer. This is taken as an objective approach and
can be concluded that acceptance has occurred where a person conducts themselves in such a way that
a reasonable person would believe that they were assenting to the terms of the contract. PST had sent
Alex a telegram informing her that she was the successful candidate, alongside having correspondence
via mobile in which PST informed Alex to come to the rehearsal, which in accordance with the
advertisement ensured Alex would receive an all expenses paid trip. This suggests that Alex s offer
was accepted by the band, and the band s conduct in telling Alex where rehearsals were being held,
along side an additional promise of $2000 at the rehearsal, would insinuate to a reasonable person that
acceptance had occurred. Under this

personaility type The Briggs Myers questionaire put a name to my personality type. Prior to taking
this quiz I would descibe myself as out going or not shy . I didnt know that there was a specific word
that described my strong personality. Learning that the type of personality I held was called and
extravert helped me to do alot of self discovery. Briggs Myers classified my individual answers as
being Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. According to Briggs Myers seventh edition,
ESTJ personalities set clear standards, follows theses standards, and expects others to follow as well.

Evidence Of The Changing Roles Of Women In Women And Women
evidence of the changing roles of female involvement within terrorist organisations along with
increasing numbers of female Islamic terrorists (Bakkers de Leede, 2015; Lavina, 2015).
Terrorist organisations traditionally maintained gendered specific roles and women predominantly
provided a support type role (Bakker de Leede, 2015). This was in the form of bearing children or
recruiters (Bloom, 2011). This has been evolving with instances of women actively engaging in
violent Islamic terrorism (Bloom, 2011). High profile cases of home grown radicalisation of females
of a British background like that of Samantha Lewthwaite and Sally Jones could be examples of a new
breed of female terrorist (Bakkers de Leede, 2015; Berkowitz ... Show more content on

It is hoped that an updated and more comprehensive analysis of female radicalisation and their
involvement within Islamic terrorist organisations will lead to a greater understanding of female
radicalisation and extremism and subsequently the development of more effective measures to combat
this phenomenon in the form of more gender specific counter terrorism strategies (Saltman Smith,
2015; Musial, 2017).
Background/ Context
Terrorism is not a new occurrence; it is a common feature of Northern Irish history due to the conflict
of The Troubles (MI5 Secret Services, 2016; Newburn, 2013; Wright, 2010). Traditional terrorism like
that of the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in Northern Ireland predominantly occurred within local
geographical parameters and against specific targets, it also operated in a fairly predictable nature
(Morgan, 2004, Wright, 2010). In order to deal with the threat of Northern Irish terrorism, intrusive
counter terrorism measures were introduced (Mythen, 2014; Wright, 2010). These were designed to
deal with domestic and localised terrorism (Morgan, 2004; Mythen, 2014; Wright, 2010). In recent
years, the terrorist threat has expanded beyond local parameters (Wright, 2010).
Globalisation has blurred how terrorism operates and has aided the development of a modernised
terrorism (Aas, 2013). The Home Office acknowledged that terrorist threats have changed in recent
years and this is expected to change further unless an efficient solution is

The Importance Of Traditional Medicine In Africa
Many african countries practice traditional medicine. Many countries in Africa lack hospitals and well
educated doctors and nurses. They have people using native medicine instead of proven medicine, and
many children in Africa die daily because of diseases that are easily cured. Africa has a poor
healthcare system which for explains why the death rate increases frequently. For example the country
of west africa sierra leone has faced life and death events in the past year, from Ebola to a flood killing
about thoundas of adults and children. The country faced a deadly Ebola outbreak which took many
lives. The flooding that happened in september of 2017 which killed about 400 to thousands of people.
Which is why sierra leone is a prime examples of why african countries need more hospitals and more
doctors and nurse. Many other African countries face situations like sierra leone faced. The lack of
hospitals and doctors in Africa increases more and more over time. For instance let s focus on the
country of Sierra Leone which hardly has hospitals, which explains why adults and children die from
issues that can be easily cured. Opening a hospital in a place like Sierra Leone would be beneficial to
the community such as the village where the government does not pay any attention towards and it is
always good to give back. The country of Sierra Leone has the poorest health status in the world. For
example the life expectancy in the country of Sierra Leone is 47

Crossover Cars Case Study
Midsize crossover utility vehicles are today s family haulers, largely replacing minivans and station
wagons from decades gone by. The 2018 Kia Sorento delivers five and seven passenger carrying
capacity, along with standard front and available all wheel drive. Models range from basic to
premium, the latter delivering some features common to luxury vehicles. Best Value With seven trims
to consider, choosing the right 2018 Sorento may depend on your budget and personal preferences.
That said, we like models equipped with the powerful V6 engine, so that rules out three grades. The
3.3 EX with a starting price of $32,087 (including a $940 destination charge). At this price point, you

It also pulls up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the towing package. It matches what most
competitors offer as the V6 is the segment s go to engine. Credit the six speed automatic, standard
across the model line, with being a well tuned companion here. Interior and Exterior Front to back, the
Kia Sorento is one of the more stylish models in this class. You ll receive forgiveness if you confuse it
with an Audi or Mercedes Benz. Its grille is prominent, but not dominate. Tasteful levels of chrome
add a finishing touch to a body with soft sculpting. The cabin is spartan on the base trim, but quickly
picks up in elegance with finer materials a bit further up the trim curve. Leather, sof touch materials
and metal pedals provide this model with flair and distinction. We like the Sorento s comfortable,
quiet and well controlled ride. The UVO telematics system supplies a brief learning curve and is one
of the better units on the market. We like Kia s navigation package, but were at home with the
included Apple CarPlay smartphone integration (Android Auto is also included) for our directions.
The Best and Worst Things The Sorento s upscale look and feel is quite impressive, easily putting it on
par with the Buick Enclave and providing a worthy point of comparison to models from Acura and
Audi. We just wish Kia offered a third row option with the EX 2.0T, what would supply a compelling
alternative to the

Assess the Changing Methods and Contributions of...
Over the past centuries, since its discovery in 1749, many archaeologists have contributed to our
understanding of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Archaeologists were initially focused on excavating,
most of which were improperly done causing extensive damage. It wasn t until the 19th century, when
archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli introduced new excavation methods; those succeeded him include
August Mau, Vittorio Spinazzola and Amendo Maiuri. Now attention has shifted towards
conservations and restorations which are reflected in the works of Fausto Zevi and Pier Guzzo.
Giuseppe Fiorelli was appointed director of the archaeological site of Pompeii and Herculaneum in
1860 and was the first who introduced top down excavation which combined ... Show more content on

Spinazzola introduced photography to record the stages of his excavation, an example of a
conservation technique. His work enables us to learn about the streetscapes of Pompeii.
Amendo Maiuri grand vision was to reconstruct the entire site to its original appearance. He excavated
right around the walls of Pompeii, uncovering the cemetery as well as significant buildings eg.
insulaes along the via dell Abbondanza, the amphitheatre and the palaestra. Maiuri used mechanical
equipment to clear away debris from earlier excavations and to assist in areas that previously had been
considered too hard to excavate. As part of conservation, Maiuri restored the walls and ceilings and
erected roofs for protection. However, he was criticized for excavations that were done too quickly
with little documentation. Some excavated buildings were unprotected and wall paintings faded
without ever being recorded. However, Maiuri s great enthusiasm for the site and the important
buildings he uncovered, attracted many tourists and made Pompeii well known internationally.
Following 1977, Fausto Zevi halted excavations and started focusing on conservations instead as both
Pompeii and Herculaneum were dying a second death due to improper excavations exposure to natural
elements. Zevi recorded the uncovered buildings and took many photographs, resulting in over 1800
photos.
In 1995, Pier Guzzo oversaw many restoration developments.

The Protagonist in Willima Shakespeare´s Othello
The central character, or protagonist, in William Shakespeare s tragedy Othello, The Moor of Venice is
Othello. Aristotle defined the concept of a tragic hero as the destruction of a noble person, usually
with a personal flaw, and this flaw determines their fate. Othello is a tragic hero with a tragic flaw in
one of Shakespeare s most known tragedies. Shakespeare so prominently exhibits the tragic flaw
Othello obtains, allowing implications and thoughts, to overrun reality and show how just the
insecurity one possesses can allow a person to become powerless. Othello s actions essentially destroy
him, with the intentional help of characters such as the infamous Iago. Othello s tragic flaw centers on
his insecurity of being an African Moor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, Brabantio also joins in on the racial comments and cannot believe that Othello and
Desdemona have eloped. That thou has practis d on her with foul charms, / Abus d her delicate youth
with drugs or minerals (593). Brabantio states that Othello participates in witchcraft and that
witchcraft would be the only way Othello would have gotten his white daughter to take his hand in
marriage.
When Iago suggests to Othello that Desdemona has been unfaithful, Othello starts having epileptic fits
and the thoughts of his wife s faithlessness consume his mind. May fall to match you with her country
forms / And happily repent (629). Iago is purposely trying to turn Othello against Desdemona by
implying she compares him to the handsome men in Venice, and she will change her mind about her
marriage to a black Moor. Othello believes Desdemona will eventually feel sincere regret about her
wrongdoing and leave him for a Venetian man. Arthur L. Little, Jr. an Associate Professor of English,
who also obtained his PhD in English through Harvard University stated Like Othello s search for
Desdemona s honor, the play probes into his blackness, always scrutinizing and presumably moving
towards the origin and essence of his black presence (304). As Othello begins thinking that his wife is
involved in an affair, his reality becomes distorted. Othello now believes Desdemona could never love
or be faithful to a black, foreign moor, such as him. Haply, for I

Dietary Guidelines For The Diet And Chronic Disease Essay
This article was to examine how the US government uses dietary guidelines for Americans and how
the guidelines were supposed to help us eat and stay healthy. Diet and chronic diseases are sometimes
connected. For example, it is proven that nutrient deficiency disease like scurvy can be cured by
consuming the lost nutrients. However, it is also shown that some nutrient exposure can cause chronic
illness such as energy, fats, sodium dietary fiber, and food exposures, etc. making it difficult to set
dietary guidelines. In addition to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary factors such as
stress, lack of exercise, smoking and other environmental factors are linked to causing chronic
illnesses (Slavin, 2012).
The relationship between diet and chronic disease made the federal government to issue dietary
guidelines for Americans since1980 and publication of dietary guidelines were made every five years.
The dietary guideline is in response to the public s desire for authoritative, consistent guidelines on
diet and health (Slavin, 2012). One of the reasons for developing the dietary guidelines was to provide
science based advice for two years old or older to help prevent chronic diseases and promote health.
Another reason why dietary guidelines were created was to lay a good foundation for federal nutrition
programs and nutrition education programs and serve as a basis for research gaps and priorities
(Slavin, 2012). Also, the government wants to make sure the

Pursuing Dreams In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Dreams are worth pursuing if you are dedicated and determined to achieve your dream. The economy
has fallen and a lot of jobs aren t able to for people to make money. Everyone is desperate to get a job
and succeed, but you must sacrifice certain things to achieve your goal. It is worth pursuing your
dreams like curley s wife, george, and lennie. One reason in OMAM that shows your dreams is the
chances you can take. Curleys wife wants to be famous and free. The text says, but the guys said, i
coulda. If id went, i wouldn t be livin like this, you bet. (p.88 89). This shows that her dream is to be
famous. She said that she would be better off following her dream. Another way they show dreams is
that she doesn t want to be locked up by curley. In the text, it says, Well i ain t givin you no trouble.
Think i don t like to talk to somebody ever once in awhile? Think i like to stick around in that house
alla time? This shows her dream that she doesn t want to be controlled by curley and be locked up and
controlled by him all the time. This is one way that dreams are expressed and shown in the book Of
Mice And Men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lennie and george moved into the bunkhouse, and the living conditions were terrible. The bunks have
lice repellent because they aren t keeping the bunkhouse in good shape. This shows they are hard
working because they are really hard working and they are doing anything to achieve their goal.
Another way they are hard working is that they got a job. The text says, No he aint, but he sure a hell
of a good worker. Strong as a bull... He can do anything you tell him. (p. 22). This shows they are hard
working because he can do any task you throw at him and will not give up and will do his best no
matter how hard and difficult the job is. This is the second way dreams are expressed in the book Of

Class Inequalities During Hurricane Katrina
When Hurricane Katrina made landfall, it became one of the deadliest hurricanes ever to hit the
United States, taking numerous lives and wiping away homes and belonging. Hurricane Katrina not
only left physical devastation in its wake, but also has generated much debate investigating the
question of whether the government s mishandling of the emergency was an issue of race or class.
Many people, including hurricane victims and critics, attributed that lack of immediate response to
racial injustice, for those who were left behind to suffer and die were predominantly African
Americans. Meanwhile, families who had sufficient resources to evacuate and could afford homes in
safer, flood protected areas were afflicted much less than poorer families, ... Show more content on

In the face of one of the deadliest natural disasters, Hurricane Katrina, America was at a struggle with
itself rather than against the natural phenomenon. What looked like a war against the storm was more
a social catastrophe that aroused huge race disparities among Americans (Smith 2006). These
disparities were unraveled in various media images and their accompanying captions, which were
critical in framing perceptions of people and event surrounding the catastrophe (Dyson 2006). In his
essay Frames of Reference, Michael Dyson particularly highlights the media s role in framing African
Americans as outlaws and savages (Dyson 2006). Two photos helped to solidify the contention that
race based bias still exists as deeply embedded in society: one image depicted a black male looting a
grocery store while am almost identical photo of a white couple was described as finding food and
necessities. These two images of identical occurrence are portrayed differently as white people were
viewed as innocent and doing the right thing by seeking food and shelter whereas black victims were
perceived as breaking moral codes and disrupting the society. The importance of the role of race is
further highlighted through examining how white and black people understand the situation. In the
aftermath of Katrina, a

Mermaid Observation
Today was a special day to do my observation paper because it is my anniversary. I got to spend time
with my husband and the share the hands on experience together. We spent almost 2 ½ hours at the
Virginia Aquarium Marine Science Center, located in Virginia Beach, on Saturday, May 6, 2017. This
was a perfect day to observe different ethnicity s groups because it was nice outside with a cool breeze
that blew the crowd into the aquarium. We started our visiting the center ourselves before observing
the different people and their families.
In the beginning, we were undecided on which would a be great place to start to observe without
looking suspicious. Therefore, I choose the Loggerhead Sea Turtles (Caretta caretta) that swam in the
same tank as some baby sharks. The reason why I picked this particular section out of the entire
aquarium was because it had the most beautiful creature that caught your eyes as you walked by. The
Loggerhead sea turtle was a must picture taking while posing in front of the glass exhibit. The
children eyes lit up as this huge sea creature came towards that glass.

Studies and Techniques for Teaching Children with Autism
There are many diseases and disorders that plague today s world, but one of the most serious of those
disorders is autism. In fact, autism is the third most common developmental disability affecting four
hundred thousand people worldwide (Autism Society of America). As of yet there is no treatment for
autism, only a variety of dealing with this disorder. Autism is a process disorder of brain function.
People with autism have trouble in communication, social interactions and play activities. This
disorder makes it difficult for them to connect to the outside world. It is difficult for them to
communicate with other people. In some cases people with autism has Aggressive and self injurious
behavior. They may represent repeated body movement, such as rocking or hands flapping and
unusual speak to people. They also represent sensitivities in the five senses of sight, hearing, touch,
taste and smell. Autism usually appears during the first three years and continues throughout life.
Introduction
There has been a number of studies on the behavior and development of children with Autism. This
paper talks about four different types of studies about techniques teaching children with autism such
as communication, socialization, cognitive development, and a number of other areas in children. The
fist article is applied behavior analysis (ABA), by Ole Ivar Lovaas. The second article is a study called

Paper On Stroke Research Paper
This paper discusses the history of stokes and how strokes occurred in my family. I have research
many articles and websites to find interesting information on strokes. I have also included my own
opinions and thoughts about strokes. There are many factors that can create a higher risk of having a
stroke. The paper discusses ways to prevent a person from having a stroke, and risk factors that can
increase the risk of having a stroke.
Introduction
A stroke is also called a cerebrovascular accident. According to the Mississippi State Department of
Health, A stroke is sometimes called a brain attack (pg. 4). A stroke occurs when the brain isn t
receiving enough oxygen or a lack of blood supply. According to the American Heart Association,
about 795,000 people have a stroke every year. According to the Center for Disease Control and
Prevention, Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States and is a major cause of adult
disability. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All strokes are serious, but the severity of a stroke depends on the type of stroke and the location of
the stroke in the brain. It is important for a person to know the symptoms of a stroke. The most
recognizable symptom is the numbness of the body. The numbness usually occurs on one side of the
body. There is also a mini stroke called a transient ischemic attack, which occurs in the same ways as
an ischemic stroke but it is temporary.
There is treatment for strokes, but the most important treatment for strokes is prevention. There are
many ways to keep yourself healthy and prevent a stroke from happening. There are some factors like
age and gender that a person can t control, but there are factors like high cholesterol and high blood
pressure that can be controlled by a person to help prevent their risk from having a

The Chicago Teachers Union And Chicago Public Schools
Georgis, Donnell, Mike, Moose
For the second time in almost 4 years, over 350,000 Chicago Public School Students may not be able
to go to school because of the CTU Strike that is currently in progress today (The Washington Post).
The issue between the Chicago Teachers Union and Chicago Public Schools has not been solved yet
due to disagreements about the income received. The Chicago Teachers Union has made offers to
school administrations; however, the responses were not in their favor. The union has been in progress
of agreeing on a contract since November 2011, [and the strike that occurred at the time] was the first
to hit the Windy City in 25 years (Liebelson). The issue must have erupted due to a misconception or a
realization of problems occurring. Chicago Teachers Union choosing to strike does not affect charter
schools since they are not a part of Chicago Public Schools. The issue of school strikes can be fixed
by increasing the budgets and providing useful resources to teachers in order to improve the level of
education.
The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) Strike in 2012 affected every single Chicago Public School and
their Students in 2012. The strike affected about 600 public schools which is over 350, 000 students.
The CTU began negotiating their contract with CPS in November of 2011, but their demands were not
met. Since the negotiating did not solve the issue, the Chicago Teachers Union chose to organize a
strike for the first time in Chicago in 25 years.

The African world view in Soyinka s Death and the King s Horseman
In his play, Death and the King s Horseman, Wole Soyinka uses certain literary forms and devices to
intermix Yoruba culture and a predominantly European dramatic form to create a play easily
understood by the audience, but that allows the introduction of a foreign influence. These devices
include the use of a songlike quality in dialogue and the telling of stories, the use of personification
and metaphor to give an exotic quality to the play, and the use of certain elements to provide the
reader with a sense of the mystic traditions that are Africa. These Yoruban elements are best explained

Elesin: (Executes a brief, half taunting dance . . . as he chants the story of the Not I bird, his voice

Death came calling.
Who does not know his rasp of reeds?

The great araba falls? Did you hear it?
Not I! Swears the farmer. He snaps
His fingers round his head, abandons
A hard worn harvest and begins
A rapid dialogue with his legs. (1158)
Soyinka uses personification and metaphor to lend an exotic, poetic quality to the play. In this excerpt
from page 1159, Elesin personifies envy, symbolizing its attacking quality, uses houseposts as a
metaphor to symbolize the building of trust, and termites as a metaphor to symbolize the way in which
time eats at all things. Elesin also uses the twilight hour, or the coming of the end of the day, to
symbolize the approaching of the end of his life, and bats and rodents as symbols of things that might
tarnish the honor given him because of his duty to his king and the trust built with his king. Line 213
begins:
Elesin: The world was mine. Our joint hands
Raised houseposts of trust that withstood
The siege of envy and the termites of time.
But the twilight hour brings bats and rodents
Should I yield them cause to foul the rafters? (1159)
Soyinka uses mystic elements to provide the reader with a sense of the Africa of tradition. The
religious traditions of Africa are rife

Gary Paulsen s Nightjohn
In 1993, Gary Paulsen wrote the book Nightjohn. Nightjohn is a book set in the 1850s, during slavery.
It shows the thoughts and views of a twelve year old girl named Sarny. Sarny is a black slave girl, who
is uneducated, malnourished, and living life the best she can. Suddenly, a man by the name of
Nightjohn is brought to the plantation. Sarny traded tobacco for learning the alphabet from Nightjohn.
Nightjohn ran away one night, and was thought to never return, but actually he created a hidden,
underground school. Nightjohn could have been inspired by two interviews, Uncle Billy McCrea s and
Walter Calloway s. Nightjohn was influenced by real slave interviews. One of the interviews in the
archive is an interview from Uncle Billy McCrea. McCrea said, ...they d take them, hang them up by

The New Iroquois Theater
Introduction The brand new Iroquois Theater was built for the holiday season in 1903, the hope was to
have it up and as beautiful as ever for anyone and everyone to enjoy. Although as most of us know
completion dates for construction projects rarely happen on time. You have the effects of weather,
workers being sick, products coming in late, and inspectors taking their time. This project was no
different, but the owners were determined to have it open on time in order to cash in over the holiday
season, and it did. With a packed house on December 30th watching Mr. Bluebeard right before the
second act one of the calcium lights sparked a fire backstage. With the material that was kept back
there it was nothing but a fuel for the fire. Within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Iroquois theater had opened just a month prior to this day with high hopes of a good turn out over
Christmas break. A comedy and crowd favorite Mr. Bluebeard was showing and people from all
around came to see the amazing new theater in person. The theater was according to dailykos was
designed with the latest in fire safety technology, it had 27 exists and bragged its 1,700 seat audience
could empty the theater in less than five minutes. So on this faithful day more than 2,000 tickets were
sold and the theater was packed, from the seats, to the isle ways, to crowding behind the rows of seats
to see this well known musical. The second act starts out with 8 couples singing in a pale moonlight,
which means majority of the house lights were down and there was a single lamp light with a blue tint
shinning onto the cast below. This lamp sparked a fire on one of the curtains which spread rapidly
because of the wood trim and all of the clutter found backstage. When the cast realizes what is
happening they all scatter while the lead Eddie Foy, goes on stage to calm the audience and let them
know the fire is being taken care of and not to panic. The stage hand then tried to lower an asbestos
curtain which is supposed to create a barrier between the audience and stage fire. Unfortunately, the
curtain was caught on a stage light that was out of position leaving a gap

The Power of Herbs Essay
The Power of Herbs
Herbs are plants that have acquired some inherent value to humans (Keller, xiii). Three values that are
relevant to this report are edibility, medicinal property, and toxicity. All plants have the potential to fall
into the one or all of these categories.
Contrary to popular belief, the study of plants is not a pseudo science. This belief perpetuates the idea
that herbs need not be taken seriously. The study of herbs as a science, herbalism, safeguards human
safety when using these plants.
Modern rules of herbalism draw upon many cultures that have used herbs for thousands of years. The
first rule is that you only put in your mouth what you can positively identify. In many of the stories we
have read, people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may seem unfortunate, but many herbalists are studying ancient texts and indigenous cultures in
order to regain this knowledge. This field of science is called Ethnobotany.
Europeans ate many wild edible plants before today s more popular plants became available through
better growing techniques. Some of these edible plants include dock, cattail, chicory, and plantain.
Many of the plants we consider weeds were eaten widely in the l9th century. All parts of the dandelion
can be eaten if prepared correctly (Elliot, 70). Plantain is a common plant that grows in lawns.
Plantain is a broadleaf weed is also edible and may have medicinal properties as well.
The medicinal properties of plants were found through trial and error. By eating plants, it was realized
that the same plants also had medicinal uses. Plants were used as diuretics, aphrodisiacs, cold and
cough remedies, pain relievers, and as many other remedies.
Greeks and Romans were very fond of aphrodisiacs. Asparagus, with it s strong aphrodisiac
properties, was once a food reserved only for rulers and kings (Keller, 15). Homer made references to
the aphrodisiac quality of celery in The Odyssey (Keller, 116).
Herbs were used in food and potions to extend youth and to cure other ailments. Onions, leeks, chives
and garlic were used to make a man feel youthful once again (Keller, 163). Parsley and sage were
considered beauty herbs. Parsley is

Temperature And Solubility
At what temperature is more KCl able to dissolve: 40°C or 90°C?
90 C since with the KCl we found that the higher the temperature the more likely the substance is to
have greater solubility.
How is temperature related to the solubility of a salt? Explain your answer.
Solubility increases with temperature because the increase in kinetic energy allows the solvent
molecules to break apart the solute molecules that are held together by intermolecular attractions.
Which salt is more soluble, KCl or NH4Cl? Explain your answer.
NH4Cl since the data shows us that it requires less heat than KCl to fully dissolve.
Why is it important to not allow the test solutions to boil?
Because if it boils then some of the solvent will be lost

Comparing The Adaptations For Nitrogenous Excretion Across...
Report Comparing the Adaptations Relating to Nitrogenous Excretion across Three Taxonomic
Groups
All organisms produce waste nitrogen products as part of their metabolism. Nitrogen is obtained from
the diet in the form of protein and nucleic acids. When a protein is ingested, the tertiary and secondary
structures of the protein are denatured. The peptide bonds are also broken, separating the protein into
individual amino acids, the basic structure of which is displayed in Fig. 1.1.
Amino acids are used to synthesise variety of functional compounds, including nucleic acids and
enzymes. However, when amino acids are obtained in the diet in excess of those needed for synthesis
of functional nitrogenous compounds, they are either catabolised as energy sources or used as sources
of carbon chains for synthesis of non nitrogenous storage compounds. When amino acids are used as
energy sources or for the synthesis of non nitrogenous compounds, the nitrogenous component of the
acid must first be removed. The amino group, NH₂, is the nitrogenous component of protein and is
removed from the amino acid by a catabolic process called deamination. This process removes the
amino group from the amino acid and converts it to ammonia (NH₃).
The ammonia is highly toxic and must either be excreted quickly or converted to a less toxic waste
product, such as urea or uric acid, and then excreted. Organisms that excrete nitrogen as ammonia
(Fig. 1.2) are ammonotelic. Organisms that convert

Comparing Themes Used by Rudyard Kipling Essay
The White Seal , by Rudyard Kipling, explores the life of a young seal, Kotick, and the hardships he
faces in the vast ocean. Also examined are the individual experiences that Kotick must endure as he
becomes a leader and an adult. Though others do not agree with his actions, and it takes him many
years to reach his goal, he perseveres and succeeds in his dream, and becomes a model leader in the
process. The themes of bravery, leadership, individualism, and growth are used to depict the many
ways that Kotick evolves in the story.
From the day of his birth, Kotick was different than others not only because of the color of his fur, but
in his actions as well. Born to a brave father who fought for his family s place in the breeding ... Show

When he could have been out playing with other seals his age, Kotick was avoiding shark attacks in
parts of the world that he had never been to before. Each of his experiences acted as a catalyst to his
growth process, making him stronger, and wiser than he possibly would have been otherwise. He went
to many different areas of the world to discover whether the island he imagined existed, and did not
give up, because an effective leader would not do that. Along the way, an old seal told Kotick of a
legend which said that one day a white seal would take all the others to a quiet place. To this Kotick
responded, I am the only white seal that has ever been born on the beaches (110). This knowledge
revitalized his courage, and made him even more determined in his efforts. The next year, Kotick, who
was finally an adult, decided to search one final time. Very close to giving up, he finally found what
he was looking for. His hard work and determination paid off with a great reward. Exactly as he hoped
it would be, the island was the perfect place for seals. He returned to the other seals with his great
vigor, but to his dismay not one of them believed him. This did not sadden, but instead angered the
now grown seal.
Kotick developed many leadership skills throughout the course of his life, and had to use the most
brutal that he knew to handle the insubordination that he encountered. In a fit of rage, he began
attacking all who doubted

Media Censorship
April 30, 2011
Media Censorship in the United States
Censorship has existed for longer than we could ever imagine. One of the first acts of state sponsored
censorship occurred in 399 B.C. when Socrates, was executed for the supposed common good of the
people (Guarding Public Morality, 2010, p.1). Socrates was a teacher and a philosopher in ancient
Greece. His teaching methods were controversial for the time, and he was charged with corrupting the
youth and drawing them away from the Greek religion. As a result of his actions, Socrates was
sentenced to death by drinking a poisonous liquid containing hemlock (Guarding Public Morality,
2010, p. 1).
As a teacher, Socrates had many students and one of those students, the Greek ... Show more content

This increase in violence and aggression leads to more crimes being committed by adults. This
thinking leads to the theory that if there was more censorship, there would be less violence on
television, and there would be less crimes being committed (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). Those
who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and vulgarity should not
be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely click over to that channel.
Children s critical thinking skills are not fully developed and they cannot comprehend information the
way that adults do. Essentially, they feel that media censorship is essential in society to protect
children from lost moral values (Arguments Favoring, 2009, p.1). On the other side of the debate,
those against censorship of television feel that it is a violation of the Freedom of Speech which is the
first amendment of the United States Constitution (Anti Censorship, p.1). They argue that Freedom of
Speech is a basic human right, and that this should not be eroded or compromised through censorship
in a nation which likes to call itself free (Wilson, 2010, p.1). They also argue that the Freedom of
Speech was not put into place to protect only the speech that the majority of people agreed with, rather
it was put into place to protect the speech and opinions of all Americans (Anti Censorship, p.2). Those
against television censorship feel that it is

Nazi Concentration Camp Auschwitz
The map of concentration camp found in Nazi files would be a better source to answer the question
What was the layout of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz? . There will be three main reasons to
support this argument. Firstly, it is an actual map that was found in Nazi files of how the camp looked
at that time. It wouldn t contain any opinion or something that is not true, it would probably contain
the actual fact. It would be better to look at the fact than relying on to one person s memory. Secondly,
the 80 year old man might be too old to remember the layout of the Nazi concentration camp, it is
more likely that he remembers how he had been treated rather than remembering the layout of the
concentration camp. The 80 year old man might

Recruiting Strategies 1. What are three recruiting strategies that could be used to recruit for this job
position? a. The most common recruiting strategy is advertising in newspapers and on employment
websites. b. Networking can prove to be a great resource to find suitable candidates. c. Promoting
from within is another strong source. 2. In 350 to 500 words, compare and contrast the recruiting
strategies you have chosen. Which recruiting strategy would you use to recruit for this position? Why?
The most common recruiting strategy of seeking a candidate from internet websites is a good source
because it allows you to see a large group of candidates at one time, and you can tailor your searches
to target in on the ideal candidate. Networking, in the sense of just talking to people is also a good
source because usually in this process you will come across someone who can put you in touch with
the right people to find what you re looking for; these people come with a referral so it s not like
starting at zero and only knowing them on paper. Lastly, is hiring from within another strong route to
get the right person in place, these people are those who have a proven record with the organization.
They are easy to verify based off of in house reviews. The difference in the three is with the internets

Marianne Moore s Poem “Poetry”
Poetry like so many other things in life is complicated and easily misunderstood, similar to the poem
entitled Poetry by Marianne Moore. Through her unique way of writing Moore uses literary devices
imagery and personification to make the readers question why it is she has come to dislike (line 1)
poetry. In particular, her word choice leaves a lot of room to wonder exactly why she has chosen to
write it this way. A main theme that is represented in this poem is conformity and whether or not it is
something to be followed.
There are many ways in which one can convey themselves. Marianne Moore uses her speaker s dislike
(Line 1) of poetry to bring forth the idea that society has dictated how poetry must follow a certain

Her use of imagery Hands that can grasp, eyes / that can dilate, hair that can rise / if it must, these
things are important (Lines 4 6) becomes a thing that one can visibly see the action taking place.
These are all actions of the body portrays when either sacred, excited or fearful just like the action
later mention with the animals. These are reactions, just like the animals she describes later on.
Although these reactions are perceived differently because they are not subjected to a specific being.
The reactions shown here are the type one sees when one is either scared or overly excited. Moore s
implication of Hands that can grasp (Line 6) is plural in reference could lead someone to think that
there is more than one person s feelings involved. An alternative way of looking at the line would be
to suggest the hands that can grasp (Line 6) are a physical anchor in reality.
My favorite lines come from the middle section of the poem I find there can be so taken just from
these few lines:
When they become so derivative as to become unintelligible, the same thing may be said for all of us,
that we do not admire what we cannot understand (Lines 8 11)

Was The Atomic Bomb Justified Dbq
Dropping the bomb could kill up to 1 million soldiers. Was it worth it? Dropping the bomb, only over
100,000 people were killed. That s saving 900,000 lives. I do believe that dropping the bombs on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary. Here are the reasons why: Japan s surrender could have ended
the war faster, the attacks could have gotten worse as time in the war gained. Japan had already caused
great damage to the United States.
Another key thing to remember is the war could have ended sooner. In document two, we learned that
President Truman didn t want to drop the atomic bombs, but it would hopefully lead the war to an end.
He did not like the idea. But was persuaded that it would shorten the war against Japan and American
lives. We needed to get Japan to surrender. They didn t want to surrender unconditionally and refused.
Japan didn t surrender until September of 1945, The war could have gone on longer.
Attacks could have progressively gotten worse as the wartime progressed. Document one showed us
that the bomb was very powerful, yet there was a more powerful artillery in the making. In their
present form these bombs are now in production and even more powerful forms are in development. It
was to spare the Japanese people from utter destruction... If they do not accept our terms they may

  • 2. The Prague Spring Trio, And Alex Introduction In establishing an enforceable contract it must first be held that there is an agreement between the Prague Spring Trio (PST) and Alex. In order for an agreement to be upheld, there are two elements which must be established. First, it must then be identified that an offer was made by one party and a second party accepted this offer. Secondly, a contract comes into existence once the acceptance of an offer has been communicated to the offeror. Therefore, this assignment will discuss and advise whether Alex made an offer to the PST and whether the band accepted this offer by communicating it to Alex. Additionally, whether any consideration has been provided, and whether the circumstances lead to the application of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advertisement is classified as an invitation to treat. An offer is distinguished from an invitation to treat as it allows individuals to provide offers or enter into negotiations. Similar to that of Pharmaceutical Society, the offer is when Alex applied for the saxophonist position, comparable to when the customer picks the bottle of medicine from the shelves and places it on the cash register. This does not amount to acceptance, it is merely an offer of which the band has discretion to negotiate terms or reject the offer. Acceptance Acceptance is assessed on whether there was a meeting of the minds and that the acceptance corresponds with the offer. This is taken as an objective approach and can be concluded that acceptance has occurred where a person conducts themselves in such a way that a reasonable person would believe that they were assenting to the terms of the contract. PST had sent Alex a telegram informing her that she was the successful candidate, alongside having correspondence via mobile in which PST informed Alex to come to the rehearsal, which in accordance with the advertisement ensured Alex would receive an all expenses paid trip. This suggests that Alex s offer was accepted by the band, and the band s conduct in telling Alex where rehearsals were being held, along side an additional promise of $2000 at the rehearsal, would insinuate to a reasonable person that acceptance had occurred. • 3. Briggs Myers Personality personaility type The Briggs Myers questionaire put a name to my personality type. Prior to taking this quiz I would descibe myself as out going or not shy . I didnt know that there was a specific word that described my strong personality. Learning that the type of personality I held was called and extravert helped me to do alot of self discovery. Briggs Myers classified my individual answers as being Extraversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. According to Briggs Myers seventh edition, ESTJ personalities set clear standards, follows theses standards, and expects others to follow as well. ESTJ also has no problem working with others as long as people are working and have every intention of meeting any deadlines as needed or finishing early. Extravert is something that I feel definatly describes the type of person that I am. When it comes to work I am there to get the job done. I go in with an attitude that making friends in not what I am here for. This isnt something that I looked at as a negative attitude. Although I always get along with the people I work with sharing personal information or talking about something I did on the weekend or what I had planned for vacation is not something that I usually initiate. Keeping the relationship a business relationship helps to keep everyone focused and working on the job at hand. I am also the one to speak up during a meeting or raising my hand to volunteer for the next project. Since I am very out spoken and normally dont have a problem talking in front of others I have no lack when it comes to taking initiative. • 4. Evidence Of The Changing Roles Of Women In Women And Women evidence of the changing roles of female involvement within terrorist organisations along with increasing numbers of female Islamic terrorists (Bakkers de Leede, 2015; Lavina, 2015). Terrorist organisations traditionally maintained gendered specific roles and women predominantly provided a support type role (Bakker de Leede, 2015). This was in the form of bearing children or recruiters (Bloom, 2011). This has been evolving with instances of women actively engaging in violent Islamic terrorism (Bloom, 2011). High profile cases of home grown radicalisation of females of a British background like that of Samantha Lewthwaite and Sally Jones could be examples of a new breed of female terrorist (Bakkers de Leede, 2015; Berkowitz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is hoped that an updated and more comprehensive analysis of female radicalisation and their involvement within Islamic terrorist organisations will lead to a greater understanding of female radicalisation and extremism and subsequently the development of more effective measures to combat this phenomenon in the form of more gender specific counter terrorism strategies (Saltman Smith, 2015; Musial, 2017). Background/ Context Terrorism is not a new occurrence; it is a common feature of Northern Irish history due to the conflict of The Troubles (MI5 Secret Services, 2016; Newburn, 2013; Wright, 2010). Traditional terrorism like that of the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in Northern Ireland predominantly occurred within local geographical parameters and against specific targets, it also operated in a fairly predictable nature (Morgan, 2004, Wright, 2010). In order to deal with the threat of Northern Irish terrorism, intrusive counter terrorism measures were introduced (Mythen, 2014; Wright, 2010). These were designed to deal with domestic and localised terrorism (Morgan, 2004; Mythen, 2014; Wright, 2010). In recent years, the terrorist threat has expanded beyond local parameters (Wright, 2010). Globalisation has blurred how terrorism operates and has aided the development of a modernised terrorism (Aas, 2013). The Home Office acknowledged that terrorist threats have changed in recent years and this is expected to change further unless an efficient solution is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Traditional Medicine In Africa Many african countries practice traditional medicine. Many countries in Africa lack hospitals and well educated doctors and nurses. They have people using native medicine instead of proven medicine, and many children in Africa die daily because of diseases that are easily cured. Africa has a poor healthcare system which for explains why the death rate increases frequently. For example the country of west africa sierra leone has faced life and death events in the past year, from Ebola to a flood killing about thoundas of adults and children. The country faced a deadly Ebola outbreak which took many lives. The flooding that happened in september of 2017 which killed about 400 to thousands of people. Which is why sierra leone is a prime examples of why african countries need more hospitals and more doctors and nurse. Many other African countries face situations like sierra leone faced. The lack of hospitals and doctors in Africa increases more and more over time. For instance let s focus on the country of Sierra Leone which hardly has hospitals, which explains why adults and children die from issues that can be easily cured. Opening a hospital in a place like Sierra Leone would be beneficial to the community such as the village where the government does not pay any attention towards and it is always good to give back. The country of Sierra Leone has the poorest health status in the world. For example the life expectancy in the country of Sierra Leone is 47 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Crossover Cars Case Study Midsize crossover utility vehicles are today s family haulers, largely replacing minivans and station wagons from decades gone by. The 2018 Kia Sorento delivers five and seven passenger carrying capacity, along with standard front and available all wheel drive. Models range from basic to premium, the latter delivering some features common to luxury vehicles. Best Value With seven trims to consider, choosing the right 2018 Sorento may depend on your budget and personal preferences. That said, we like models equipped with the powerful V6 engine, so that rules out three grades. The 3.3 EX with a starting price of $32,087 (including a $940 destination charge). At this price point, you have a well equipped model with keyless entry with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also pulls up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the towing package. It matches what most competitors offer as the V6 is the segment s go to engine. Credit the six speed automatic, standard across the model line, with being a well tuned companion here. Interior and Exterior Front to back, the Kia Sorento is one of the more stylish models in this class. You ll receive forgiveness if you confuse it with an Audi or Mercedes Benz. Its grille is prominent, but not dominate. Tasteful levels of chrome add a finishing touch to a body with soft sculpting. The cabin is spartan on the base trim, but quickly picks up in elegance with finer materials a bit further up the trim curve. Leather, sof touch materials and metal pedals provide this model with flair and distinction. We like the Sorento s comfortable, quiet and well controlled ride. The UVO telematics system supplies a brief learning curve and is one of the better units on the market. We like Kia s navigation package, but were at home with the included Apple CarPlay smartphone integration (Android Auto is also included) for our directions. The Best and Worst Things The Sorento s upscale look and feel is quite impressive, easily putting it on par with the Buick Enclave and providing a worthy point of comparison to models from Acura and Audi. We just wish Kia offered a third row option with the EX 2.0T, what would supply a compelling alternative to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Archaeologists were initially focused on excavating, most of which were improperly done causing extensive damage. It wasn t until the 19th century, when archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli introduced new excavation methods; those succeeded him include August Mau, Vittorio Spinazzola and Amendo Maiuri. Now attention has shifted towards conservations and restorations which are reflected in the works of Fausto Zevi and Pier Guzzo. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spinazzola introduced photography to record the stages of his excavation, an example of a conservation technique. His work enables us to learn about the streetscapes of Pompeii. Amendo Maiuri grand vision was to reconstruct the entire site to its original appearance. He excavated right around the walls of Pompeii, uncovering the cemetery as well as significant buildings eg. insulaes along the via dell Abbondanza, the amphitheatre and the palaestra. Maiuri used mechanical equipment to clear away debris from earlier excavations and to assist in areas that previously had been considered too hard to excavate. As part of conservation, Maiuri restored the walls and ceilings and erected roofs for protection. However, he was criticized for excavations that were done too quickly with little documentation. Some excavated buildings were unprotected and wall paintings faded without ever being recorded. However, Maiuri s great enthusiasm for the site and the important buildings he uncovered, attracted many tourists and made Pompeii well known internationally. Following 1977, Fausto Zevi halted excavations and started focusing on conservations instead as both Pompeii and Herculaneum were dying a second death due to improper excavations exposure to natural elements. Zevi recorded the uncovered buildings and took many photographs, resulting in over 1800 photos. In 1995, Pier Guzzo oversaw many restoration developments. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Protagonist in Willima Shakespeare´s Othello The central character, or protagonist, in William Shakespeare s tragedy Othello, The Moor of Venice is Othello. Aristotle defined the concept of a tragic hero as the destruction of a noble person, usually with a personal flaw, and this flaw determines their fate. Othello is a tragic hero with a tragic flaw in one of Shakespeare s most known tragedies. Shakespeare so prominently exhibits the tragic flaw Othello obtains, allowing implications and thoughts, to overrun reality and show how just the insecurity one possesses can allow a person to become powerless. • 10. Dietary Guidelines For The Diet And Chronic Disease Essay This article was to examine how the US government uses dietary guidelines for Americans and how the guidelines were supposed to help us eat and stay healthy. Diet and chronic diseases are sometimes connected. For example, it is proven that nutrient deficiency disease like scurvy can be cured by consuming the lost nutrients. However, it is also shown that some nutrient exposure can cause chronic illness such as energy, fats, sodium dietary fiber, and food exposures, etc. making it difficult to set dietary guidelines. In addition to some nutrient causing chronic diseases, nondietary factors such as stress, lack of exercise, smoking and other environmental factors are linked to causing chronic illnesses (Slavin, 2012). The relationship between diet and chronic disease made the federal government to issue dietary guidelines for Americans since1980 and publication of dietary guidelines were made every five years. The dietary guideline is in response to the public s desire for authoritative, consistent guidelines on diet and health (Slavin, 2012). One of the reasons for developing the dietary guidelines was to provide science based advice for two years old or older to help prevent chronic diseases and promote health. Another reason why dietary guidelines were created was to lay a good foundation for federal nutrition programs and nutrition education programs and serve as a basis for research gaps and priorities (Slavin, 2012). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the face of one of the deadliest natural disasters, Hurricane Katrina, America was at a struggle with itself rather than against the natural phenomenon. What looked like a war against the storm was more a social catastrophe that aroused huge race disparities among Americans (Smith 2006). These disparities were unraveled in various media images and their accompanying captions, which were critical in framing perceptions of people and event surrounding the catastrophe (Dyson 2006). In his essay Frames of Reference, Michael Dyson particularly highlights the media s role in framing African Americans as outlaws and savages (Dyson 2006). Two photos helped to solidify the contention that race based bias still exists as deeply embedded in society: one image depicted a black male looting a grocery store while am almost identical photo of a white couple was described as finding food and necessities. These two images of identical occurrence are portrayed differently as white people were viewed as innocent and doing the right thing by seeking food and shelter whereas black victims were perceived as breaking moral codes and disrupting the society. The importance of the role of race is further highlighted through examining how white and black people understand the situation. In the aftermath of Katrina, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Comparing The Adaptations For Nitrogenous Excretion Across... Report Comparing the Adaptations Relating to Nitrogenous Excretion across Three Taxonomic Groups All organisms produce waste nitrogen products as part of their metabolism. Nitrogen is obtained from the diet in the form of protein and nucleic acids. When a protein is ingested, the tertiary and secondary structures of the protein are denatured. The peptide bonds are also broken, separating the protein into individual amino acids, the basic structure of which is displayed in Fig. 1.1. Amino acids are used to synthesise variety of functional compounds, including nucleic acids and enzymes. However, when amino acids are obtained in the diet in excess of those needed for synthesis of functional nitrogenous compounds, they are either catabolised as energy sources or used as sources of carbon chains for synthesis of non nitrogenous storage compounds. When amino acids are used as energy sources or for the synthesis of non nitrogenous compounds, the nitrogenous component of the acid must first be removed. The amino group, NH₂, is the nitrogenous component of protein and is removed from the amino acid by a catabolic process called deamination. This process removes the amino group from the amino acid and converts it to ammonia (NH₃). The ammonia is highly toxic and must either be excreted quickly or converted to a less toxic waste product, such as urea or uric acid, and then excreted. Organisms that excrete nitrogen as ammonia (Fig. 1.2) are ammonotelic. Organisms that convert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those who are for media censorship are mostly conservatives who feel that violence and vulgarity should not be on the television because a child is likely to accidently or even purposely click over to that channel. • 32. Marianne Moore s Poem “Poetry” Poetry like so many other things in life is complicated and easily misunderstood, similar to the poem entitled Poetry by Marianne Moore. Through her unique way of writing Moore uses literary devices imagery and personification to make the readers question why it is she has come to dislike (line 1) poetry. In particular, her word choice leaves a lot of room to wonder exactly why she has chosen to write it this way. A main theme that is represented in this poem is conformity and whether or not it is something to be followed. There are many ways in which one can convey themselves. Marianne Moore uses her speaker s dislike (Line 1) of poetry to bring forth the idea that society has dictated how poetry must follow a certain strict and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her use of imagery Hands that can grasp, eyes / that can dilate, hair that can rise / if it must, these things are important (Lines 4 6) becomes a thing that one can visibly see the action taking place. These are all actions of the body portrays when either sacred, excited or fearful just like the action later mention with the animals. These are reactions, just like the animals she describes later on. Although these reactions are perceived differently because they are not subjected to a specific being. The reactions shown here are the type one sees when one is either scared or overly excited. Moore s implication of Hands that can grasp (Line 6) is plural in reference could lead someone to think that there is more than one person s feelings involved. An alternative way of looking at the line would be to suggest the hands that can grasp (Line 6) are a physical anchor in reality. My favorite lines come from the middle section of the poem I find there can be so taken just from these few lines: When they become so derivative as to become unintelligible, the same thing may be said for all of us, that we do not admire what we cannot understand (Lines 8 11) Like how it questions our outlook on how we live our life. Most people are content to just to follow the law and won t really stand up for themselves because they live in fear of having to deal with a worst situation or it is just the ... • 33. Was The Atomic Bomb Justified Dbq Dropping the bomb could kill up to 1 million soldiers. Was it worth it? Dropping the bomb, only over 100,000 people were killed. That s saving 900,000 lives. I do believe that dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was necessary. Here are the reasons why: Japan s surrender could have ended the war faster, the attacks could have gotten worse as time in the war gained. Japan had already caused great damage to the United States. Another key thing to remember is the war could have ended sooner. In document two, we learned that President Truman didn t want to drop the atomic bombs, but it would hopefully lead the war to an end. He did not like the idea. But was persuaded that it would shorten the war against Japan and American lives. We needed to get Japan to surrender. They didn t want to surrender unconditionally and refused. Japan didn t surrender until September of 1945, The war could have gone on longer. Attacks could have progressively gotten worse as the wartime progressed. Document one showed us that the bomb was very powerful, yet there was a more powerful artillery in the making. In their present form these bombs are now in production and even more powerful forms are in development. It was to spare the Japanese people from utter destruction... The Kamikaze raids also caused a great deal of deaths. Over 3,500 Japanese Kamikaze raids had already wrought great destruction and loss of american lives. (Document 4.) Truman believed that this would also save lives. Saving American lives along with the lives of the Japanese. He was correct. Instead of killing the 1,000,000 predicted, it only ended with a bit over 100,000 lives loss. That is 900,000 people that could have died that didn t.
