African American Males And Capital Punishment
African American Males and Capital Punishment We simply cannot say we live in a country that
offers equal justice to all Americans when racial disparities plague the system by which our society
imposes the ultimate punishment. (Senator Russ Feingold, 2003). It has been proven that death
sentencing across the USA is determined by the raceof the victim and race of the defendant. In
1990, there was a report from the General Accounting office which concluded that those who
murdered whites were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks.
(Focus, 2003) This injustice amongst us are because people are scared and don t know. They don t
know whether a black man is pulling out a gun, their phone, wallet, etc. So just to remain safe, they
retaliate by killing our men. Society has grown to function on the fear of black men. Capitalism and
the imprisonment of black peoplehave become profitable. They ve made a big business to just
imprison black men. Black men are inheritably a threat to the capitalist structure of America, it
protects their money, their politics, and their society. James Eagan Holmes, a 26 year old male
from San Diego California, is the accused perpetrator of a mass shooting that killed 12 and
murdered 70 people at a Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, on July 20, 2012 during the
midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises (Wikipedia, n.d.) On March 12, 2013, a Colorado
judge entered a plea of not guilty when Holmes s attorney

The Passion Of Mexicans By Mexico
Executive Summary
Mexico has gone through a very interesting history since the ancient years. It s a culture that
quickly involves you and makes you fall in love with it. The passion of Mexicans is reflected in
every movement of a daily life. The current situation of the country is quite complicated due to
bribery, corruption, unemployment, low wages, and lack of people s interest on education; we can
also find problems due poverty, and the difference between the social statuses. Mexicans are tired of
the killings, kidnaps, insecurity and things that they have to face during daylight and night. In this
research I cover most of the situations that may influence the country to take any decision. Private

Mexico is popular for its conventions speaking to the religion, culture and governmental issues
in the course of the last five hundred years. A portion of the major occasions celebrate the gala
of the Lady of Guadalupe, which is a Catholic festival of the presence of the Virgin Mary to an
Indian man at the outset of the times where the Spanish were the leader of the nation. There is also
the Day of the Dead, a celebration that combines indigenous and catholic rituals for the honor of
the deceased. The Mexican Independence Day when Mexico s rural poor fight to pull down the
Spanish while they were having the control of the country.
The music is a very important piece of the Mexican culture, and it is always part of a celebration
whether big or small. Mexican music sings for love, passion, for the country, of its history, legends
and oppression, among other topics.
The recession of 2008 was the worst in the country for the last 70 years. The 2008 09 financial

3. Mobile App based testing model In this section, we are listing some common methods that were
adopted in testing the mobile application testing for our project. Normally, more than one solution
available to test the whole system. Normally testing of an application or system is carried out by
analyzing each part i.e. module of the system and how each module is integrated. Then by using the
most appropriate and effective test for each module, the whole system is tested. Sample template for

The Knife Of Never Letting Go Character Analysis
Imagine a world in which all the noise in your town disappears. In Prentisstown, some people
have the ability to hear other people s noise by reading their thoughts. What if all that was taken
away? This was the case for Todd Hewitt, age 12, the last boy in the town who is awaiting the day
to become a man. Every boy in Prentisstown officially becomes a man at age 13. Todd s journey
to manhood is filled with danger and adventure. In The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick
Ness, Todd s use of a hunting knife as a symbol of protection is illustrated when he faces his town
s evil mayor, and his stranger turned friend Viola in the woods, and when he battles the crazy
preacher, Aaron in a church.
It s hard to review The Knife Of Never Letting Go without spoiling the story. It s so cunningly
written that I was 100 pages in before I even realised what genre it was. I will say this though: it
lives up to the thrill of that first sentence . (the guardian.com, par.2). In the beginning of the story,
Todd is given a hunting knife by his caretaker Ben as an early birthday present before his 13th
birthday, the age in which all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

amounts of danger and meet some people along the way who are able to teach him how to be
secure in the craziness of his surroundings; while others want to destroy him, Throughout the
novel, Todd learns important lessons while using his knife as a shield of defense: How to take

Appeasement In The 1930 s
In the 1930 s, Britain and France widely pursued the idea of the policy of Appeasement. This
policy was between these two countries and Germany which, at the time, was led by Hitler and his
communist ideals. Appeasement refers to the policy in which both Britain and France submitted to
Hitler s negotiation proposals in an attempt to compromise on terms and ultimately avoid war.
Appeasement can be describes, as a bully getting his/her way because of the power he/she holds
over someone who is willing to do anything to get them off of their chest.
During the course of the 1930 s, Hitler and his army were able to bypass many laws set in place by
the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on 8 June 1919 as a peace settlement
between Germany and France, Britain and Italy that had ended World War One. The Treaty stated
that Germany was to accept blame for World War One as well as get rid of most of their armed
forces, they were also expected to give up some territory to France.
Many saw the Treaty of Versailles as too harsh of a policy on Germany and that Germany should
have been treated more fairly, this is why Britain and France did not show any signs of objection
when Hitler moved his increasing number of navy troops into Rhineland on 1936.
Appeasement was an attempt to avoid a war and so Britain and France would often turn their heads
and allow Hitler to breach the policy of the Treaty in attempt to satisfy him and thus maintain peace
between the powers.

The Supreme Court Of Virginia
In any legal system, there is a notion that the chief end to be achieved is justice. Clearly no one
would advocate for an unjust legal system, but what if the clear distinction between just and unjust
is not so clear? What if there are diametrically opposed moral principles supporting competing
arguments? On three occasions, the Supreme Court of Virginia has declined ruling on whether the
relationship with an assailant s wife deprives a defendant of the right to self defense. The Supreme
Court of Virginia should deny a defendant the right to claim self defense when the following
elements are present: (1) the defendant is charged with murder, (2) the defendant was in the act of
sexual intimacy with the victim s spouse, (3) the victim was... Show more content on

It is in the public s interest to maintain a predictable standard of acceptable behavior. Without
such a standard, society will fall into chaos. There are two traditional, primary means for
integrating moral reasoning into the analysis of criminal law. The first is requiring a defendant to
have a culpable mental state for most crimes. The second is the doctrine of affirmative defenses.
There are two types of Affirmative defenses: justifications and excuses. In effect, if a defendant
can establish a defense, the defendant should be acquitted because society believes he took the
right or at least a tolerable action. Excuses, invoke the notion that while what the defendant did
was not justified, the defendant should not be held accountable for his wrongdoing because he is
not to blame for it. Despite the fact that the criminal law is essentially a moral enterprise, the
legally trained actors in the criminal justice system rarely explicitly examine exactly what moral
principles the system is enforcing. One reason for the absence of moral analysis is that most
lawyers are not trained in moral philosophy. Generally, legal education has never seriously
attempted to incorporate moral principles into instruction. Another explanation for the absence in
moral reasoning in the criminal law is that there is no need for any deep moral debate concerning
the right or wrong of

Wide Sargasso Sea Analysis
In Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys, culture causes belonging as well as insecurity. In this novel,
characters from the Caribbean and England are put side by side to highlight how strong cultures
affect those without one. Christophine and R hold strong ties to their identities through their ethnic
background, while Antionette is left wondering, who I am and where is my country and where do I
belong (61). Rhys uses the binary opposition of these two contrasting characters to convey that
people rely on their cultures for their identity and because of this, those who do not fit into a certain
group have trouble defining themselves.
Christophine, a former slave and servant to Antionette s family, relies on her Afro Caribbeanroots
to dictate her beliefs and shape her as a person. When Antionette wants Christophine to help her
using obeah, Christophine tells Antionette that obeah is not for bГ©kГ© , using the word
bГ©kГ©, a slang term for a white person (68). Through this, Christophine separates herself from
Antionette and defines herself through her ethnic background. Although she is very close to
Antionette, Christophine clearly identifies with a different culture and therefore there is a distance
between them that cannot be removed. This culture is one that she identifies so strongly with that
she will risk being caught and thrown in jail for her beliefs. It is revealed by Daniel Cosway that
Christophine was put in jail for practicing obeah but she continues to practice this

Differences Between Chinese Medicine And Western Medicine

Differences between Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Chinese medicine and Western
medicine are two different branches of medical field, these two medical systems respectively

on the two has never stopped. In fact, Chinese medicine and Western medicine are completely
different academic systems, the two in the theoretical basis, diagnostic methods, therapies, the
nature of drugs, etc. are significantly different. Moreover, in the practice of modernday China,

Organization, 4 billion people across the world use Chinese herbal medicine in their medical
treatment, which account for 80% of the world population. Being representative of purely natural
medicine, Chinese medicine has become the medicine with the most promising future of
development. Some well known medicine companies in western countries, therefore, take
advantage of the bountiful resource of Chinese medicine, plentiful TCM prescriptions of Chinese
patent medicine without much sense of protecting their intellectual property rights, abundant
resource of Chinese herbal medicine, and low cost human resources in China, and trap all kinds of
technical hindrance to prevent Chinese patent medicine in China from entering international

priced raw materials of Chinese medicine, and then after the processing and selling the products
labeled with their own brands, they gain huge amount of profits from the international market and
even back in China. (Zhou, abstract) So, in the face of this situation, China has been reviving
traditional Chinese medicine since the 1970s. In order to revitalize traditional Chinese

The Conflict Perspective On Class Struggles
The family is a social institution present in all human societies. A family unit is a group of people
sharing a relationship based on biology, marriage, or adoption. The conflict perspective refers to the
inequalities that exist in all societies. The conflict perspective originated from out of Karl Max s
writings on class struggles. This perspective presents society in a different light than do the
functionalist and symbolic interactionist perspectives. This perspective focuses on the negative,
conflicted, and ever changing nature of society. Conflict theorists challenge the status quo, unlike
functionalists who defend it, encourage social change, and believe that the rich and powerful force
social order on the poor and the weak. When looking at the conflict perspective in reference to
family, the family works toward the continuance of social inequality, whether on purpose or
unknowingly. Wealthy families are able to keep their privilege social position for the members of
that family, whereas poorer families are denied this status. This perspective is also more beneficial
for men than women. It allows men to maintain their power position. Inequality between the sexes
is a result of this family being patriarchal. Gender roles are significant. The roles of the men in the
family are much more important than the roles of the women even if the women are more hard
working than their male counterparts.

Realists Vs. Scientific Theory
.Convergent realists often argue for their position by pointing to the increasing success of science.
This requires that there be a reasonable inference from a scientific theory s success to its
approximate truth. The argument that realists are trying to make is that the best explanation of a
scientific theorys success is that it is true. Larry Laudan refutes the realists argument from the
success of science. To do this, he characterize his opposition as Convergent Epistemological
Realism. Convergent realism is a theory about the nature and history of science.
Laudan identifies five central claims for convergent epistemological realism.
R1) Scientific theories (at least in the mature sciences) are typically approximately true ... Show

The empirical success of science (in the sense of giving detailed explanations and accurate
predictions) accordingly provides striking empirical confirmation for realism.
According to Laudan, convergent epistemological realism involves two abductive arguments by
realists.
Argument 1: Inference to the best explanation from R1, R2, and R5.
P1: If scientific theories are approximately true, they will typically be empirically successful;
P2: If the central terms in scientific theories genuinely refer, those theories will generally be
empirically successful.
P3: Scientific theories are empirically successful.
C: (Probably) Theories are approximately true and their terms genuinely refer.
Argument 2: Inference to the best explanation from R3 and R5.
P1: If the earlier theories in a mature science are approximately true and if the central terms of
those theories genuinely refer, then later more successful theories in the same science will preserve
the earlier theories as limiting cases;
P2: Scientists seek to preserve earlier theories as limiting cases and generally succeed.
C: (Probably) Earlier theories in a mature science are approximately true and genuinely referential.
For his refutation of argument 1, Laudan (addressing Putnam) states that the realist seemingly
requires claims S1 S4.

Although the organization survived the financial downturn of 2008 2009 in the home building
and selling market to which it is closely tied, it stayed true to the foundations of the parent
company, John Deere who has utilized a very conservative approach to growth over the years.
Here again with the infusion of new capital and a mission to grow the company might pull away
from its core and begin to feel that success is a guaranteed outcome. The leaders of the
organization must continue to evaluate why they are successful. Feeding the primary flywheel is
important and continually asking why is this working are key to keeping knowledge growing.
When constant reexamination occurs and the tough questions are truthfully answered it becomes
much harder for arrogance to take hold. Because of this it becomes more difficult to stray from
the path of discipline which is covered in step 2. Markers for stage 2 relate back to discipline and
these are the areas that a company that is in a growth pattern must pay close attention. Any
company that is growing with plans to pursue and IPO wants to gain size. Larger revenue streams

Television Sci Fi Drama The 100
The television sci fi drama The 100 follows the journey of 100 juvenile offenders who were sent
down from space and their struggle to survive on Earth 97 years after a nuclear war wiped out
most of the planet. The juveniles were sent down to Earth to see if it was inhabitable again, once
their Ark in space, that holds 2,400 from twelve different countries, began running out of air.
Upon arriving to Earth, the 100 teens quickly ran into problems with the Grounders, mountain
men, reapers, and the city of light that managed to survive the war. The 100 first aired on March
19, 2014 and its director is Jason Rothenberg. Some of the main actors include Eliza Taylor who
plays Clarke, Bob Morley who plays Bellamy, Isaiah Washington who plays Jaha and Paige
Turco who plays Abby. I chose this show to analyze because there are many different languages
spoken throughout the course of its three seasons, it has a strong female lead, and has positive
representations on both race and sexuality. The audience s response to the show has typically
been positive and they really enjoyed the fact that there are multiple gay couples throughout the
show. The audience also enjoys the plot because of its fast pace, but find the director to be racist

Immigration, Deportation, And Family Separation By Vanessa...
Are human beings considered illegal? If so, what makes a person illegal? Is it because of their
race, gender, social status, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc. Or is it because they come to a place
with hope of a better future despite that they aren t allowed too. By this, I m talking about the issue
of illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is the problem concerning people who illegally
immigrate into the U.S. Specifically, people from areas like Central America, including Honduras,
El Salvador, and Guatemala. They usually leave behind their families in order to complete this
journey and that can have dire consequences. It is my strongest opinion that there needs to be more

changing the conditions for those who live in countries like Honduras, Mexico, El Salvador, etc.

experts have concluded that the only effective strategy for change is to improve the economies of

Behavioral Finance By Daniel Kahneman And Amol Tversky
1.8. BEHAVIORAL FINANCE
The whole concept of Behavioural Finance was introduced by Daniel Kahneman and Amol
Tversky in late 1960s. They are called as the father of Behavioural Finance. Their observation
began to kick off a whole range of discoveries, with ramifications that investors cannot afford to
ignore. Later, Tversky and Kahneman began to uncover previously searched series of behavioural
bias that causes investors to act irrationally. In 2002, Daniel Kahneman received the Noble
Memorial Prize for his contribution to the study of rationality in economics. Understanding
Behavioural Finance and how it affects the markets is the key to a successful investment strategy.
Behavioral Finance is the new emerging science that explains the irrational behaviour of investors.
Behavioral Finance unwind the usual assumption of traditional finance by incorporating systematic,
observable and human departures from rationality into models of financial markets and behaviour.

Geysers Spout Research Paper
Carbon Dioxide Could Explain How Geysers Spout Scientists have been researching the
background of geysers for about hundred fifty years, and now they were able to find a clue that
could aid them in getting closer to their answer. The findings of their discovery was printed in
the Geology paper online on March 7. Finding a geyser on this planet is arduous and most of the
geysers that we have found are located in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park is
comprised of about 500 geysers, the largest amount from any other location, and sits atop of a
primitive volcanic hot spot. The spot once erupted magma, a substance similar to lava. Old Faithful

of these rare structures. If humans are able to find more geysers, especially non acidic ones,
researchers and scientists will be able to perform more experiments. If they conduct more
experiments on questions and hypotheses the world will be able to make gain more knowledge
on them. This discovery is large for scientists have been researching and doing experiments for
150 years, and they were able to find something now. Maybe, now with enhanced technology,
researchers and scientists will be able to find different of more resources that can be beneficial
to environment in the geysers. Depending of the resource, there might be a large impact. For
example, if they learn that there is gold in the geysers, construction in order to take it out. The
gold will sell for lots of money, in which people can earn their way up to wealth. The discovery
of CO2 involved in the action of the geysers spouting can help save people. In September of 2014,
in Japan, there was a steam eruption causing a nearby volcano erupt. The sudden explosion took
the lives of fifty seven people. Understanding that CO2 can cause eruptions, people can monitor
the gas levels from underground, can give a warning. A negative implication on this article is the
amount of money that will be spent in order to conduct more experiments. They would need
money for the materials that will be used, such as chemicals and such, and the money to go visit a
place in which the experiment will be done at. However, if the money is payed off, we will get a
better understanding of geysers work. If humans get a better understanding of geysers, we can use
that knowledge for other similar structures. Then, if we find something new about them, we can
make more predictions and interpretations. During the discovery of new things, we will also

Analysis Of The Poem The Stranger
In many works of literature, poetry and art, the sun is used to represent life, divine beauty and
strength. In the poem Ah! Sunflower by William Blake for example, the sun represents joy and life.
In the novel The Stranger, the author Albert Camus uses the sun in the opposite manner, making it
serve as a negative motif throughout the novel. Conversely, Camus uses the sea as a motif to
represent the positive and pleasurable feelings that Meursault actually wants to feel. The motifs of
the sun and sea serves as representations of Meursault s absurdist behaviors. Absurdismis the idea
that humanity must live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them.
The universe will never truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to (Cite). The physical
world in general contributes to Meursault s characterization. When he should be experiencing a
rational feelingor emotion, Meursault becomes aware of the physical world around him. His
awareness of the physical world becomes intense in times of negative events or pleasurable ones.
Camus uses simple and short sentences to describe the natural world. This emphasizes the
simplicity of nature, along with the simplicity of Meursault s character, which demonstrates how
close his relationship with nature is. Meursault s sensitivity to nature contributes to why he can
relate to it easier that he can to humans or society. He feels as if he can connect with it more. The

From The Plains And The City
From the Plains to the City The depth of a play comes largely from its context and how the piece
intertwines with the environment in which it takes place. All tragedies take a direct impact by
their setting, which inconspicuously performs a significant role in the compositions. In Tracy
Letts August: Osage County, the Weston family must confront their past and present in a
claustrophobic house during the scorching heat of summer in the Oklahoman Plains. In Tony
Kushner s Angles in America, the AIDS epidemic is rampant and the effects are seen across all
spectrums in the American society, while keeping up with the fast pace and intricacies of New
York City. Essentially location influences the plays, which steers them thematically and
stylistically. Letts slowly builds a dismal atmosphere in the confinement of a household that
correlates to the bleakness of the Plains while Kushner creates a melting pot of political, social,
and religious criticism in an action packed drama in a bustling city. The prologue of August:
Osage County is in charge of setting the somber mood for the play. On the outskirts of the small

Determinism And Free Will
Determinists believe that everything that occurs in the world follows both from the laws of nature
and also the prior state of the universe. As a result, they further believe that our actions are
predetermined. Many philosophers believe this it offers a simple justification as to why people
commit such actions and, even more broad, why history precedes in the way that it does.
As an incompatibilist, I believe that determinism rules out the possibility of human freedom.
Determinism relies on a cause and effect relationship between the current state and the past. it uses
empirical notions that past action, or experience, combines with natural law to basically set out our
actions. I cannot see how a philosophy that suggests this cause and effect ... Show more content on

Peter van Inwagen, a proponent of libertarianism, argues in his piece Freedom of the Will that
freedom and a society dictated. Libertarians often rationalize that one must believe that humans
have free will so that we as a society are able to hold people accountable for their actions. Yet, as a
hard determinist, I would say that yes we do exist in a cause and effect world in which actions are
predetermined; yet, we are the means of those actions. van Inwagen also rejects determinism
because he believes in the possibility of one having multiple futures which determinism does not
allow for. Most importantly, he rejects determinism s central idea, the causalityrelationship, in favor
of a world in which humans can choose their own paths. This idea of choice is not sound as
actions that one has no control over before birth indirectly influence their decision making,
rationalizing, and so forth. For instance, people born into households with lower incomes tend to
go to lower performing schools. These lower performing schools impact their ideas about society,
their role in society, and in a broader view, the world. The choices they make were already decided
before they were even born from the socioeconomic conditions and genetic history since the
beginning of time that had preceded the birth. Unknowingly, the person makes choices, which are
not really their own, based off of

Social Learning Theory and The Effect of TV Violence on...
Social Learning Theory and The Effect of TV Violence on Children
In the United States children watch an average of three to fours hours of television daily (Cantor
Wilson, 1984, p. 28). Television can be a powerful influence in developing value systems and
shaping behavior. Unfortunately, much of today s televisionprogramming is violent. Studies of the
effects of TV violence on children and teenagers have found that children may become insensitive
to violence. Consequently, they tend to gradually accept violence as a way to solve problems by
imitating the violence they observe on television; and they identify with certain characters, good or
bad. Therefore, extensive viewing of television violence by children causes greater ... Show more

Children who watch television shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or
unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see, ( p.25). Children with emotional,
behavioral, or learning problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence (Bandura,
1977). The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in the child s behavior or may
surface later, and young people can even be affected when the family atmosphere shows no
tendency toward violence (Cantor Wilson, 1984). Therefore, while TV violence is not the only
cause of aggressive or violent behavior, it is clearly a significant factor. The Good in Television
Not all television is bad. There are several excellent programs dedicated to young children. Some
programs incorporate entertainment and education to help children learn and identify characters,
shapes and colors. Programs such as Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Sesame Street also help
promote good behavior and cooperation. Dr. Ernest Boyer, President of the Carnegie Foundation for
the Advancement of Teaching and former US Commissioner of Education, stated: Television sparks
curiosity and opens up distant worlds to children. Through its magic, youngsters can travel to the
moon or the bottom of the sea. They can visit castles, take river trips, or explore imaginary lands. .
.With selective viewing, television can richly contribute to school readiness. (Chen, p. 122)

Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication...
ABSTRACT
This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in
modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio
communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high
information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of
different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data
collected are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the
ability to convey more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also
implies that same amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include
Amplitude shift keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift
keying have been demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the
Simulink library. The signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly
generated sequence of bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of
these experiments vary a characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to
represent the signal that is to be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed
which accepts sound as input signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is
obtained accordingly.

Benefits Of Early Childhood Education Essay

Benefits of Early Childhood Education The earlier you enrich a child s life with an education, the
greater the outcome will be in the future. Parents are the first teachers of young children. Children
acquire their knowledge and actions from observing their parents. That is how their minds develop
and how they obtain certain skills. They learn the basis of reading and writing skills at young ages.
Having an early education helps later down the road with saving money. Early Childhood
Education leads to social and emotional development, increased literacy, and fiscal savings. The
first outcome of early childhood Education is social and emotional development. The key to a
critical foundation for lifelong learning and development is positive social and emotional
development (Social Emotional Development). Social and emotional development helps to
navigate young children in supportive relationships with other young children (Social Emotional ...

Having a high education is one of the largest factors for saving money and helping the economy.
Children with a higher literacy rate pay fewer taxes, earn more money, and are less susceptible
to commit a crime (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). Having children with a good background in
school helps the economy. These children are more likely to get jobs, work efficiently, and buy
things (Calman and Tarr Whelan 2). By being educated you save money and with that money they
are able to buy things they want, which boost the economy. Children that have an early education
save time and money by not needing extra or special classes that can be costly (Calman and Tarr
Whelan 4). Inadequate education in young children leads to excessive spending that is not
necessary or is unsuccessful (Trostel 1). Not only does an early education give development and
literacy skills, it also helps you save money down the

Oppression Of Minorities During The Civil Rights Movement
Oppression of minorities has had a detrimental aspect in the associated individual s lives. History
has demonstrated that as a western society, we devalue minorities rights and values through
legislation and societal views. Today, this remains to be an issue for many individuals of many
stigmatized groups. Although efforts to reach a more unified community have been taken, many
minorities still fight oppression. Through activism, social and political movements, the LGBTQIA
community have progressed immensely throughout the past few decades. History has demonstrated
a slow, yet vast amount of success in this marginalized group. Activists endured a long journey
toward gaining rights for the community which lead to a modern day civil rights movement for the
LGBTQIA community. Although there has been a great amount of successes, non heterosexual
individuals still do not have full equal rights as their heterosexual counterparts. There are still
adversities that are being faced in this population that hinder these individuals from thriving. The
issue is even greater when the individual has an additional identity that is also marginalized.
Specifically, individuals who identify as people of color (POC) and LGBTQIA still encounter
prejudice from society. The following thesis will lay out the progression in the LGBTQIA
movement along with the deficits that these individuals have encountered throughout history. An

The First Bubonic Plague Pandemic
Journal Article Review
The Initial Years of the Third Bubonic Plague Pandemic I believe that Echenburg was trying to tell
us of how the plague was spread throughout the countries, globally and how it even started.
Echenburg went very in depth in this piece of writing about the initial years of the third bubonic
plague pandemic. I personally thought that this happened just once, but that tells you how much I
know. I also thought that it took place in just one area, which it took place more than one time and
more than one country or continent, but all seven continents. The plague taught the world many
new things and new advancements in our medical world with new vaccinations that do and do not
work. The third bubonic plague pandemic is said to have killed up to 15 million people, with
mass of those people were killed in India, China, and Indonesia. It spread to every continent with a
few years. Globally the plague was a distinctive historical marker in the development of glaring
health inequalities, because of the nationalism in India, The Great Fire in Honolulu, the persistence
of anti Asian prejudice in the United States and Australia, the rise of apartheid in South Africa, and
the growth of public health in Brazil.
Echenburg tells us that three things must happen in order for the plague to happen. First of all,
there needs to be many varieties of rodents and small animals like rabbits and such have to be all
infected with fleas. The most effective flea vector is the

The Employment Status Of An Employee
During the old days, employment status is rather straightforward. However, as days went by,
with the progress of society as well as technology, the nature of employment becomes more
complex. Thus the employment status becomes vague, and in the event of employment disputes,
the employment status is evaluated by the court of law based on the test of mutuality of
obligation. The test of mutuality of obligation used in relation to the establishment of the
employment status is closely related to employment rights. Many employment rights are highly
dependent on the ability to establish the status of an employee. However there is no useful
statutory definition on employee . The closest definition can be found in the Employment Right
Acts 1996 (ERA 1996), section 230(1), but it is in a form of a circular, and thus it is of little
help. Therefore, it is left to the courts to define what is an employee. Over the years, a number of
tests have been developed to help the courts to make judgement. The employment status test
identifies that, the employer has an obligation to provide work for the employee and there must
be a reciprocate obligation by the employee. Failing these, a person is unlikely be classed as an
employee (Bebbington Palmer). However, the application of these tests is not always easy or
straightforward. The historical development on the tests for employee status showed that it had
evolved from one of control (Yewens v Noakes) to

Burger King s Successful Fast Food Restaurants
Burger King is one of the most successful fast food restaurants in the world. Burger King has been
very effective in applying their strategic vision and mission statement to build their brand. The
leadership team has positioned Burger King for a path of continued domestic and international
growth, because of a strong brand recognition and quality products. Burger Kinguses two generic
strategies to deal with competition, they are differentiation and cost leadership. Cost leadership
within Burger King is essential to minimize costs. This allows Burger King to control margins and
operating costs. For Burger King to offer such competitive prices, they have to reduce operating
costs, but at the same time they need to provide a quality product that the customers want. Burger
King also uses a differentiation strategy. A good example would be the way they grill their
products and the specific techniques they use for products such as the Whopper . The marketing
teams has also formed slogans such as Have It Your Way and the most current slogan Be Your Way
. These slogans attempt to form a differentiation pattern in the consumer s minds. These marketing
slogans are also used to attract new customers especially in the competitive market such as the fast
food market. These techniques have allowed Burger King to reach out to new and current customers.

State Defined Reality in George Orwell s 1984
Reality can have a more fluid and complicated definition than we might realize. Instead of being a
concrete ability to see black and white differences between ideas and basing beliefs on outside
evidence , a person s conception of reality might accommodate contradicting beliefs, reject and
ignore truth when convenient, or embrace concepts seemingly preposterous in a sane world. A
postmodern work of fiction allows for the shifting and changing of reality, thus giving the audience
an alternate reality to compare to the perceived reality outside the work. To this end,
postmodernism employs the simulacrum to blot out reality and insert a fabricated concept in its

None of the state s lies and deceptions could change any part of reality, although the state could,
and did, obscure the truth of reality for its purposes. O Brien tells Winston that he is mistaken in
this idea of reality. In a reeducation session, O Brien challenges Winston s belief, telling him reality
is not external (Orwell 205). He claims that it is only existent within the mind. In other words, it s
all in your head. O Brien essentially says that the outside world does not contain anything real until
the mind perceives it, and the mind should not perceive it until given permission by the Party.
What the mind believes to be true, to be real, affects the world outside of that mind. As an
introduction to this idea, O Brien tries to convince Winston he sees five fingers, when his senses,
conscious to a reality independent of Big Brother, report only four. The audience finds that a
person could actually see five fingers instead of four if the person s reality allows for the
possibility and existence of such things. Winston himself, his sense of an external reality dulled
by pain and drugs, sees the five fingers instead of four (Orwell 213). For a moment, he shares the

ideology before everything was normal again (Orwell 213). After a few more teaching sessions,

The Negative Consequences Of Plagiarism In The Modern Age
Recent memory has been filled with technological advances following one after another; the twenty
first century has been an era in which change occurs at a nearly exponential rate. Each of these
advances has brought new opportunities for students and educators to further the learning
experiences. Few students can imagine a time before beneficial technologies like interactive white

Causes Of Gangs
When the word gangs comes to mind, one can immediately picture a big, tall male figure often
covered with tattoos, piercings, and maybe even a bald headed guy. One might think that gangs
only occur in areas like Los Angeles, Brooklyn, and areas illustrated in movies. Gangs are also
becoming more glorified in the media. For example, while listening to a rap song on the radio,
some sort of gangreference will come up. Gangscan often target the young and the vulnerable due
to many reasons, such as peer pressure and fear. Also, they may target someone who is in need and
vulnerable for falling into gang violence and actions.

Once you re in, there are only two ways to get out: by dying or running (Martinez Pg 33).
Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue
being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of
being left out pressures them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent
lifestyle. Since gangs are typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer
pressure to join a gang due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats,
to even their death.
Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might
feel that they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a
negative home life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give
unconditional support and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In
some cases, individuals who join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be
due to family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their
home. Gangs are often seen in areas where poor living conditions occur and where social economic
statuses are present.Children and teens living in these circumstances can experience lack of
attention simply because the family needs to work and meet ends meet. This circumstance, which

Yet again we had run out of money to pay for another night stay at a hotel. We had run out of money
the night before when we only had ВЈ60 left enough to pay for one night sharing a single room.
The hotels are usually not allowed to do this but the lady at the reception desk allowed us to stay
because we explained to her that we had no money left.
We did not have any dinner that night and had no clue of what to do the next day.
The next morning we had to check out. And still we had no money, we had no idea what to do.
The suitcases were still with us and they were so difficult to travel around London with. So I
decided to put all our luggage inside the hotel s storage room and leave it there until we knew what
to do.
The hotels that we had been staying at in London were within close proximity of Hyde Park, so we
would spend hours everyday just sitting there.
Hour after hour we sat in the park that day as

Who Is The Protagonist In The Awakenings
All characters in the Awakenings did a great job. Without them, this movie will not reach its
utmost success. But out of more than 15 characters, one of them stand out the most and he is
Robert De Niro who played the role of Leonard Lowe as protagonist. According to Tim Stout (n d)
Protagonist is defined as the characterresponsible for handling the main problem and the one most
in need of change, emotionally. Meaning it is not easy to act as a protagonistlike a paralytic person
and with that De Niro really did an excellent performance. Robin Williams who played the role of
Dr. Malcolm Sayer as Mentor also did an excellent performance. According to Tim Stout (n d)
Mentor is defined as The mentor voices or represents the lesson that must

Themes In Snowpiercer
Bong Joon ho s 2013 science fiction film, Snowpiercer, based in a graphic novel of the same
name, offers a look into a frozen future where the last of mankind lives on an evermoving
locomotive. It s a contemporary film focused around the theme of classism in society, driven by
metaphors for where we are and where we are going. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting
the 99%, the story focuses on the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail
section, led by Chris Evans Curtis, revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in
relation to its theme is the focal point of the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear
narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move forward as the characters move towards the front of
train. With each decision Curtis makes, the blocking of his movements is always in a forward
motion. He is always looking forward because he has a definite purpose and only second guesses
in a scene (the only scene) where he looks forward and backward toward two separate outcomes
of one decision as the camera follows his head movement in a left and right... Show more content on

I hadn t seen Chris Evans outside of his Marvel ventures and was impressed by his ability to
make his heavily flawed character seem charismatic. It s easy to see why the tail sectioners
choose to follow him; he is the the one they deem smart and driven enough to lead them to their
journey s end. I can t tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan
s natural charismatic nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his
decisions and emotions seem more concrete. The rest of the cast does a great job of carrying out
action beats in relation to the workings of the class and machinery present in the film s screenplay.
I do feel that some other characters expositions are not layered enough to evoke any emotion and
that does take away from the film s

My Father s Conviction Is Cruel In The US
when that happened. When Steven became a junior at high school he decided that school was not
for him so he dropped out. He was already getting caught up with what he was seeing at home
from his father. Eventually his father got arrested because the cops did a drug bust at Mitchell
projects and found him with drugs and a few guns on him. Steven was very upset when they
informed him about his father getting arrested. His father could be sentenced up to 30 years in
prison if he s found guilty. Steven felt with the responsibly of taking control over the legacy his
father left in the streets. Although with him making that decision Steven became a street person.
He was mostly engaged in most of the illegal activities that took place in Mitchell... Show more

soon as they approached Willis Avenue there were about 10 bloods outside of the corner store
drinking CГ®roc. Steven immediately pulled his window down and screamed my father Tito is

Steven said he fired 10 shots at them and pulled off. The other Crips at the other cars shot at them

told everybody to change clothes and stay in for the night just in case the cops were looking for
them. The next morning Steven found out he killed two of them. Their name was Albert Cintron

Psychosocial Development In The Film My Girl
Psychosocial Development in the Film My Girl Rebeca Thezan Broward College: DEP 2002
Synopsis For this assignment, I reflected upon how childhood psychosocial development is
portrayed in film. The film I chose to write about is titled My Girl, released in 1991, about an 11
year old girl named Vada Sultenfuss and the changes she endured in the summer of 1972. Vada is
a particular young girl whose mother passed away during or after childbirth, leaving her to be
raised by her emotionally unavailable father, Harry, and her grandmother who has Alzheimer s. As
if that weren t bad enough her father runs a funeral parlor...from their home. I guess you can say
that he father is somewhat a workaholic and still mourns his wife. He rarely spends quality time
with Vada and refuses to address questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Confusion in accordance to Erikson s stages of psychosocial development. She already seems to
be have developed a sense of self and very mature for her age. She is very independent for an 11
years old most likely product of a neglectful father. Consequently, this is a theme that I wanted to
touch on. Emotional intelligence relies so much on the influence of a parenting style. In this
case, we see a widower dedicated to his work. It is evident that he has as neglectful tendencies
towards his daughter on the threshold of adolescence. He has seemed uninvolved with Vada
when she needed him the most case being when Vada started hemorrhaging and seen yelling for
her daddy. Shelly had become Vada s antagonist, made it her duty as a woman to explain that
what was happening to Vada was menstruation. She went so far as to presumably giving Vada The
Talk. having been explained about the birds and the bees Vada wanted nothing to do with Thomas
J, when he came soliciting her to go swimming on such a hot day. At least not for 5 to 7

Explain what is implied by the assumption that...
Explain what is implied by the assumption that decision makers are rational? How is the
assumption of rationality used in the economic analysis of individual behaviour? In many
academic disciplines much is spoken about rationality and rational choices. Economists generally
refer to rational choices and that individuals in economic theory are rational. By rational we
mean people choose options which they perceive to be the best, given the circumstances they are
in. In terms of making rational choices some of the conceivable options for example of going to
work would be: В· Actually going to work. В· Staying at home В· Going out shopping В· Buying
a house В· Fly to the moon etc. But with these choices we face... Show more content on

However the consequences of making a choice that may seem rational is not always taken into
consideration as in many cases the choice taken may be actually irrational. For example,
somebody deciding or not they should buy a sandwich with limited money, will certainly
consider the immediate satisfaction of their hunger, but it is dependant on the individual how
much importance they would give to the fact that they wouldn t be able to get the bus back
home later that night and would catch a cold from walking back, resulting in days off work and
subsequent loss of income. It could be said therefore that anyone who bought the sandwich would
be considered irrational . The assumption that one is always in possession of all their rational
senses is a dangerous one to make. It can hardly be assumed that the decision of anyone already
very drunk on a night out to buy another alcoholic beverage to be rational .They know that it will
result in them being violently sick and lead to them regretting the purchase in the morning, yet this
does occur as their intoxicated state has robbed them of the power of rational thought. The same
can be said of other conditions such as stress and being in love. In terms of decision makers,
rational decision making operates where a decider in an environment must choose among
alternative courses of action, each leading to a different expected environmental outcome, where
some outcomes are

The Mayan Script
This source provides a thorough timeline of the major events that took place in deciphering the
Mayan scripts, beginning in the 16th century when Spanish invaders conquered the Maya empire
and forced them to convert to Christianity and speak and write in Spanish. In addition to that, the
Spanish invaders wanted to wipe out the ancient Maya script. For example, a friar named Diego
Landa staged a massive burning of hundreds of Maya bark paper books because he believed them
to be unorthodox. Yet, four years later Landa wrote a manuscript about the Maya called Relation of
the Things of Yucatan . Coupled with the Dresden Codex (one of the four Maya illustrated books
surviving today), that many scholars believe one of the conquistadors, Hernando

The Soviet Union And Capitalist America
From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an iron curtain has descended across the
Continent. The Cold War placed most of the post war world into a perpetual state of paranoia and
dramatically rose tensions between both world powers and their respective ideologies; the
Communist Soviet Union and Capitalist America. Both of these powers were in a race to have the
advantage over one another, with accelerations in arms developments and eventually creating a
standoff between the the Western and Eastern blocs. Two national leaders were very prevalent in
bringing a significant amount of change to the European Region, the first leader being Harry
Truman (1945 1953) who introduced the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan with the slogan It
must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted
subjugation by armed minorities and outside pressures The second significant leader who exacted
significant change in the European Region and subsequently culminated the Cold Warwas Mikhail
Gorbachev (1985 1991) whose policies of Glasnost Openness and Economic, Political and Social
Perestroika Restructuring followed his belief that It would be naive to think that the problems
plaguing mankind today can be solved with means and methods which were applied or seemed to
work in the past. . . Both leaders exacted changes that were crucial in shaping the European region
during the Cold War.

  • 2. African American Males And Capital Punishment African American Males and Capital Punishment We simply cannot say we live in a country that offers equal justice to all Americans when racial disparities plague the system by which our society imposes the ultimate punishment. (Senator Russ Feingold, 2003). It has been proven that death sentencing across the USA is determined by the raceof the victim and race of the defendant. In 1990, there was a report from the General Accounting office which concluded that those who murdered whites were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks. (Focus, 2003) This injustice amongst us are because people are scared and don t know. They don t know whether a black man is pulling out a gun, their phone, wallet, etc. So just to remain safe, they retaliate by killing our men. Society has grown to function on the fear of black men. Capitalism and the imprisonment of black peoplehave become profitable. They ve made a big business to just imprison black men. Black men are inheritably a threat to the capitalist structure of America, it protects their money, their politics, and their society. James Eagan Holmes, a 26 year old male from San Diego California, is the accused perpetrator of a mass shooting that killed 12 and murdered 70 people at a Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, on July 20, 2012 during the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises (Wikipedia, n.d.) It s a culture that quickly involves you and makes you fall in love with it. The passion of Mexicans is reflected in every movement of a daily life. The current situation of the country is quite complicated due to bribery, corruption, unemployment, low wages, and lack of people s interest on education; we can also find problems due poverty, and the difference between the social statuses. • 5. The Knife Of Never Letting Go Character Analysis Imagine a world in which all the noise in your town disappears. In Prentisstown, some people have the ability to hear other people s noise by reading their thoughts. What if all that was taken away? This was the case for Todd Hewitt, age 12, the last boy in the town who is awaiting the day to become a man. Every boy in Prentisstown officially becomes a man at age 13. Todd s journey to manhood is filled with danger and adventure. In The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, Todd s use of a hunting knife as a symbol of protection is illustrated when he faces his town s evil mayor, and his stranger turned friend Viola in the woods, and when he battles the crazy preacher, Aaron in a church. It s hard to review The Knife Of Never Letting Go without spoiling the story. It s so cunningly written that I was 100 pages in before I even realised what genre it was. I will say this though: it lives up to the thrill of that first sentence . (the guardian.com, par.2). In the beginning of the story, Todd is given a hunting knife by his caretaker Ben as an early birthday present before his 13th birthday, the age in which all ... • 6. Appeasement In The 1930 s In the 1930 s, Britain and France widely pursued the idea of the policy of Appeasement. This policy was between these two countries and Germany which, at the time, was led by Hitler and his communist ideals. Appeasement refers to the policy in which both Britain and France submitted to Hitler s negotiation proposals in an attempt to compromise on terms and ultimately avoid war. Appeasement can be describes, as a bully getting his/her way because of the power he/she holds over someone who is willing to do anything to get them off of their chest. During the course of the 1930 s, Hitler and his army were able to bypass many laws set in place by the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on 8 June 1919 as a peace settlement between Germany and France, Britain and Italy that had ended World War One. The Treaty stated that Germany was to accept blame for World War One as well as get rid of most of their armed forces, they were also expected to give up some territory to France. Many saw the Treaty of Versailles as too harsh of a policy on Germany and that Germany should have been treated more fairly, this is why Britain and France did not show any signs of objection when Hitler moved his increasing number of navy troops into Rhineland on 1936. Appeasement was an attempt to avoid a war and so Britain and France would often turn their heads and allow Hitler to breach the policy of the Treaty in attempt to satisfy him and thus maintain peace between the powers. ... Clearly no one would advocate for an unjust legal system, but what if the clear distinction between just and unjust is not so clear? What if there are diametrically opposed moral principles supporting competing arguments? On three occasions, the Supreme Court of Virginia has declined ruling on whether the relationship with an assailant s wife deprives a defendant of the right to self defense. The Supreme Court of Virginia should deny a defendant the right to claim self defense when the following elements are present: (1) the defendant is charged with murder, (2) the defendant was in the act of sexual intimacy with the victim s spouse, (3) the victim was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in the public s interest to maintain a predictable standard of acceptable behavior. Without such a standard, society will fall into chaos. There are two traditional, primary means for integrating moral reasoning into the analysis of criminal law. The first is requiring a defendant to have a culpable mental state for most crimes. The second is the doctrine of affirmative defenses. There are two types of Affirmative defenses: justifications and excuses. In effect, if a defendant can establish a defense, the defendant should be acquitted because society believes he took the right or at least a tolerable action. Excuses, invoke the notion that while what the defendant did was not justified, the defendant should not be held accountable for his wrongdoing because he is not to blame for it. Despite the fact that the criminal law is essentially a moral enterprise, the legally trained actors in the criminal justice system rarely explicitly examine exactly what moral principles the system is enforcing. One reason for the absence of moral analysis is that most lawyers are not trained in moral philosophy. Generally, legal education has never seriously attempted to incorporate moral principles into instruction. Another explanation for the absence in moral reasoning in the criminal law is that there is no need for any deep moral debate concerning the right or wrong of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Wide Sargasso Sea Analysis In Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys, culture causes belonging as well as insecurity. In this novel, characters from the Caribbean and England are put side by side to highlight how strong cultures affect those without one. Christophine and R hold strong ties to their identities through their ethnic background, while Antionette is left wondering, who I am and where is my country and where do I belong (61). Rhys uses the binary opposition of these two contrasting characters to convey that people rely on their cultures for their identity and because of this, those who do not fit into a certain group have trouble defining themselves. Christophine, a former slave and servant to Antionette s family, relies on her Afro Caribbeanroots to dictate her beliefs and shape her as a person. When Antionette wants Christophine to help her using obeah, Christophine tells Antionette that obeah is not for bГ©kГ© , using the word bГ©kГ©, a slang term for a white person (68). Through this, Christophine separates herself from Antionette and defines herself through her ethnic background. Although she is very close to Antionette, Christophine clearly identifies with a different culture and therefore there is a distance between them that cannot be removed. This culture is one that she identifies so strongly with that she will risk being caught and thrown in jail for her beliefs. It is revealed by Daniel Cosway that Christophine was put in jail for practicing obeah but she continues to practice this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Conflict Perspective On Class Struggles The family is a social institution present in all human societies. A family unit is a group of people sharing a relationship based on biology, marriage, or adoption. The conflict perspective refers to the inequalities that exist in all societies. The conflict perspective originated from out of Karl Max s writings on class struggles. This perspective presents society in a different light than do the functionalist and symbolic interactionist perspectives. This perspective focuses on the negative, conflicted, and ever changing nature of society. Conflict theorists challenge the status quo, unlike functionalists who defend it, encourage social change, and believe that the rich and powerful force social order on the poor and the weak. When looking at the conflict perspective in reference to family, the family works toward the continuance of social inequality, whether on purpose or unknowingly. Wealthy families are able to keep their privilege social position for the members of that family, whereas poorer families are denied this status. This perspective is also more beneficial for men than women. It allows men to maintain their power position. Inequality between the sexes is a result of this family being patriarchal. Gender roles are significant. The roles of the men in the family are much more important than the roles of the women even if the women are more hard working than their male counterparts. • 11. Realists Vs. Scientific Theory .Convergent realists often argue for their position by pointing to the increasing success of science. This requires that there be a reasonable inference from a scientific theory s success to its approximate truth. The argument that realists are trying to make is that the best explanation of a scientific theorys success is that it is true. Larry Laudan refutes the realists argument from the success of science. To do this, he characterize his opposition as Convergent Epistemological Realism. Convergent realism is a theory about the nature and history of science. The empirical success of science (in the sense of giving detailed explanations and accurate predictions) accordingly provides striking empirical confirmation for realism. According to Laudan, convergent epistemological realism involves two abductive arguments by realists. Argument 1: Inference to the best explanation from R1, R2, and R5. P1: If scientific theories are approximately true, they will typically be empirically successful; P2: If the central terms in scientific theories genuinely refer, those theories will generally be empirically successful. P3: Scientific theories are empirically successful. C: (Probably) Theories are approximately true and their terms genuinely refer. Argument 2: Inference to the best explanation from R3 and R5. P1: If the earlier theories in a mature science are approximately true and if the central terms of those theories genuinely refer, then later more successful theories in the same science will preserve the earlier theories as limiting cases; P2: Scientists seek to preserve earlier theories as limiting cases and generally succeed. Reviewing the 1st stage referring to Hubris born of success, it is understandable how a successful company could succumb to feelings of invincibility. SiteOne Landscape Supply was born over several mergers acquisitions by John Deere. Although the organization survived the financial downturn of 2008 2009 in the home building and selling market to which it is closely tied, it stayed true to the foundations of the parent company, John Deere who has utilized a very conservative approach to growth over the years. Here again with the infusion of new capital and a mission to grow the company might pull away from its core and begin to feel that success is a guaranteed outcome. The leaders of the organization must continue to evaluate why they are successful. Feeding the primary flywheel is important and continually asking why is this working are key to keeping knowledge growing. When constant reexamination occurs and the tough questions are truthfully answered it becomes much harder for arrogance to take hold. Because of this it becomes more difficult to stray from the path of discipline which is covered in step 2. Markers for stage 2 relate back to discipline and these are the areas that a company that is in a growth pattern must pay close attention. Any company that is growing with plans to pursue and IPO wants to gain size. Larger revenue streams and increases in the bottom line. Upon arriving to Earth, the 100 teens quickly ran into problems with the Grounders, mountain men, reapers, and the city of light that managed to survive the war. The 100 first aired on March 19, 2014 and its director is Jason Rothenberg. Some of the main actors include Eliza Taylor who plays Clarke, Bob Morley who plays Bellamy, Isaiah Washington who plays Jaha and Paige Turco who plays Abby. I chose this show to analyze because there are many different languages spoken throughout the course of its three seasons, it has a strong female lead, and has positive representations on both race and sexuality. The audience s response to the show has typically been positive and they really enjoyed the fact that there are multiple gay couples throughout the show. The audience also enjoys the plot because of its fast pace, but find the director to be racist because he mostly kills off people of color. Is it because of their race, gender, social status, sexual orientation, beliefs, etc. Or is it because they come to a place with hope of a better future despite that they aren t allowed too. By this, I m talking about the issue of illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is the problem concerning people who illegally immigrate into the U.S. Specifically, people from areas like Central America, including Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. They usually leave behind their families in order to complete this journey and that can have dire consequences. Later, Tversky and Kahneman began to uncover previously searched series of behavioural bias that causes investors to act irrationally. In 2002, Daniel Kahneman received the Noble Memorial Prize for his contribution to the study of rationality in economics. • 19. Analysis Of The Poem The Stranger In many works of literature, poetry and art, the sun is used to represent life, divine beauty and strength. In the poem Ah! Sunflower by William Blake for example, the sun represents joy and life. In the novel The Stranger, the author Albert Camus uses the sun in the opposite manner, making it serve as a negative motif throughout the novel. Conversely, Camus uses the sea as a motif to represent the positive and pleasurable feelings that Meursault actually wants to feel. The motifs of the sun and sea serves as representations of Meursault s absurdist behaviors. Absurdismis the idea that humanity must live in a world that is and will forever be hostile or indifferent towards them. The universe will never truly care for humanity the way we seem to want it to (Cite). The physical world in general contributes to Meursault s characterization. When he should be experiencing a rational feelingor emotion, Meursault becomes aware of the physical world around him. His awareness of the physical world becomes intense in times of negative events or pleasurable ones. Camus uses simple and short sentences to describe the natural world. This emphasizes the simplicity of nature, along with the simplicity of Meursault s character, which demonstrates how close his relationship with nature is. Meursault s sensitivity to nature contributes to why he can relate to it easier that he can to humans or society. He feels as if he can connect with it more. The sun and sea serve as tools for ... • 20. From The Plains And The City From the Plains to the City The depth of a play comes largely from its context and how the piece intertwines with the environment in which it takes place. All tragedies take a direct impact by their setting, which inconspicuously performs a significant role in the compositions. In Tracy Letts August: Osage County, the Weston family must confront their past and present in a claustrophobic house during the scorching heat of summer in the Oklahoman Plains. In Tony Kushner s Angles in America, the AIDS epidemic is rampant and the effects are seen across all spectrums in the American society, while keeping up with the fast pace and intricacies of New York City. Essentially location influences the plays, which steers them thematically and stylistically. Letts slowly builds a dismal atmosphere in the confinement of a household that correlates to the bleakness of the Plains while Kushner creates a melting pot of political, social, and religious criticism in an action packed drama in a bustling city. The prologue of August: Osage County is in charge of setting the somber mood for the play. On the outskirts of the small town of Pawhuska, Oklahoma is where the Weston family reluctantly reunites after the death of its patriarch, Beverly. The house is depicted as more than a century old, showing signs of neglect that make it appear stuck in time. Letts describes the premise as a hoarder s paradise, scattered with books, papers, and random paraphernalia. The windows have been covered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, they further believe that our actions are predetermined. Many philosophers believe this it offers a simple justification as to why people commit such actions and, even more broad, why history precedes in the way that it does. As an incompatibilist, I believe that determinism rules out the possibility of human freedom. Determinism relies on a cause and effect relationship between the current state and the past. it uses empirical notions that past action, or experience, combines with natural law to basically set out our actions. Peter van Inwagen, a proponent of libertarianism, argues in his piece Freedom of the Will that freedom and a society dictated. Libertarians often rationalize that one must believe that humans have free will so that we as a society are able to hold people accountable for their actions. Yet, as a hard determinist, I would say that yes we do exist in a cause and effect world in which actions are predetermined; yet, we are the means of those actions. van Inwagen also rejects determinism because he believes in the possibility of one having multiple futures which determinism does not allow for. Most importantly, he rejects determinism s central idea, the causalityrelationship, in favor of a world in which humans can choose their own paths. This idea of choice is not sound as actions that one has no control over before birth indirectly influence their decision making, rationalizing, and so forth. For instance, people born into households with lower incomes tend to go to lower performing schools. These lower performing schools impact their ideas about society, their role in society, and in a broader view, the world. The choices they make were already decided before they were even born from the socioeconomic conditions and genetic history since the beginning of time that had preceded the birth. Social Learning Theory and The Effect of TV Violence on Children In the United States children watch an average of three to fours hours of television daily (Cantor Wilson, 1984, p. 28). Television can be a powerful influence in developing value systems and shaping behavior. Unfortunately, much of today s televisionprogramming is violent. Studies of the effects of TV violence on children and teenagers have found that children may become insensitive to violence. Children who watch television shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see, ( p.25). Children with emotional, behavioral, or learning problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence (Bandura, 1977). The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in the child s behavior or may surface later, and young people can even be affected when the family atmosphere shows no tendency toward violence (Cantor Wilson, 1984). Therefore, while TV violence is not the only cause of aggressive or violent behavior, it is clearly a significant factor. The Good in Television Not all television is bad. There are several excellent programs dedicated to young children. Some programs incorporate entertainment and education to help children learn and identify characters, shapes and colors. Programs such as Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Sesame Street also help promote good behavior and cooperation. Dr. Ernest Boyer, President of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and former US Commissioner of Education, stated: Television sparks curiosity and opens up distant worlds to children. • 23. Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication... ABSTRACT This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data collected are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the ability to convey more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also implies that same amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include Amplitude shift keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift keying have been demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the Simulink library. The signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly generated sequence of bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of these experiments vary a characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to represent the signal that is to be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed which accepts sound as input signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is obtained accordingly. ... The third bubonic plague pandemic is said to have killed up to 15 million people, with mass of those people were killed in India, China, and Indonesia. It spread to every continent with a few years. However, as days went by, with the progress of society as well as technology, the nature of employment becomes more complex. Thus the employment status becomes vague, and in the event of employment disputes, the employment status is evaluated by the court of law based on the test of mutuality of obligation. The test of mutuality of obligation used in relation to the establishment of the employment status is closely related to employment rights. Many employment rights are highly dependent on the ability to establish the status of an employee. However there is no useful statutory definition on employee . The closest definition can be found in the Employment Right Acts 1996 (ERA 1996), section 230(1), but it is in a form of a circular, and thus it is of little help. Therefore, it is left to the courts to define what is an employee. Over the years, a number of tests have been developed to help the courts to make judgement. The employment status test identifies that, the employer has an obligation to provide work for the employee and there must be a reciprocate obligation by the employee. Failing these, a person is unlikely be classed as an employee (Bebbington Palmer). However, the application of these tests is not always easy or straightforward. Therefore, sometimes young adults or even adults feel pressured to be involved or to continue being involved in gangs because they have the fear of being murdered. Sometimes the fear of being left out pressures them into getting involved in gangs, and they end up leading a violent lifestyle. Since gangs are typically associated with fear, most individuals can fall into this peer pressure to join a gang due to fear of the consequences which can range from violence, like threats, to even their death. Another aspect of feeling accepted can come from family related issues. Young people might feel that they don t receive enough support or attention at home. They may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father figure. Gangs often make promises to give unconditional support and to become the family they never had (Why People Join Gangs). In some cases, individuals who join gangs can be looking for a way out of their home. This can be due to family issues they are experiencing, or also they may not be receiving attention in their home. Gangs are often seen in areas where poor living conditions occur and where social economic statuses are present.Children and teens living in these circumstances can experience lack of attention simply because the family needs to work and meet ends meet. This circumstance, which does not seem so malicious, can leave the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are various factors pushing for the establishment the divide of Cyprus. The largest driving factor is the Turkish and Greek ethnic divide. The two ethnic groups remain distinct, which are divided on linguistic, cultural, and religious lines (Meier, 457). The Greek Cypriots practice Greek orthodox and Turkish Cypriots practice Islam. Furthermore, both groups refer to Greece or Turkey as motherlands to their identities. (Meier, 457). Adventures Of A Once Homeless Girl Adventures of a Once Homeless Girl UXDE dot Net Wordpress Themes by SamPac07/07/07 ( I have noticed this very odd coincidence that every night we slept on the street was the anniversary of terrorist bombings and catastrophes, as I look back on it, I am not really sure what to think, was it just a coincidence? or is there more than meets the eye...I hope to find the answer) The night I slept outside in September was definitely the worst and horrific and I could never forget this one either. This experience was slightly different because it was in London. Yet again we had run out of money to pay for another night stay at a hotel. We had run out of money the night before when we only had ВЈ60 left enough to pay for one night sharing a single room. The hotels are usually not allowed to do this but the lady at the reception desk allowed us to stay because we explained to her that we had no money left. We did not have any dinner that night and had no clue of what to do the next day. The next morning we had to check out. And still we had no money, we had no idea what to do. The suitcases were still with us and they were so difficult to travel around London with. So I decided to put all our luggage inside the hotel s storage room and leave it there until we knew what to do. The hotels that we had been staying at in London were within close proximity of Hyde Park, so we would spend hours everyday just sitting there. Hour after hour we sat in the park that day as ... But out of more than 15 characters, one of them stand out the most and he is Robert De Niro who played the role of Leonard Lowe as protagonist. According to Tim Stout (n d) Protagonist is defined as the characterresponsible for handling the main problem and the one most in need of change, emotionally. Meaning it is not easy to act as a protagonistlike a paralytic person and with that De Niro really did an excellent performance. • 43. Themes In Snowpiercer Bong Joon ho s 2013 science fiction film, Snowpiercer, based in a graphic novel of the same name, offers a look into a frozen future where the last of mankind lives on an evermoving locomotive. It s a contemporary film focused around the theme of classism in society, driven by metaphors for where we are and where we are going. With an almost mashup of Orwell meeting the 99%, the story focuses on the inhabitants of the suppressed population of the train s tail section, led by Chris Evans Curtis, revolting against the forward living. The film s narrative in relation to its theme is the focal point of the film and it s main driving force. By using a linear narrative, Joon ho allows the story to move forward as the characters move towards the front of train. With each decision Curtis makes, the blocking of his movements is always in a forward motion. He is always looking forward because he has a definite purpose and only second guesses in a scene (the only scene) where he looks forward and backward toward two separate outcomes of one decision as the camera follows his head movement in a left and right... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hadn t seen Chris Evans outside of his Marvel ventures and was impressed by his ability to make his heavily flawed character seem charismatic. It s easy to see why the tail sectioners choose to follow him; he is the the one they deem smart and driven enough to lead them to their journey s end. I can t tell if it s the way he meant the character to be portrayed and that s just Evan s natural charismatic nature showing through but it adds a layer to the character that makes his decisions and emotions seem more concrete. The rest of the cast does a great job of carrying out action beats in relation to the workings of the class and machinery present in the film s screenplay. I do feel that some other characters expositions are not layered enough to evoke any emotion and that does take away from the film s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychosocial Development In The Film My Girl Psychosocial Development in the Film My Girl Rebeca Thezan Broward College: DEP 2002 Synopsis For this assignment, I reflected upon how childhood psychosocial development is portrayed in film. The film I chose to write about is titled My Girl, released in 1991, about an 11 year old girl named Vada Sultenfuss and the changes she endured in the summer of 1972. Vada is a particular young girl whose mother passed away during or after childbirth, leaving her to be raised by her emotionally unavailable father, Harry, and her grandmother who has Alzheimer s. As if that weren t bad enough her father runs a funeral parlor...from their home. I guess you can say that he father is somewhat a workaholic and still mourns his wife. He rarely spends quality time with Vada and refuses to address questions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Confusion in accordance to Erikson s stages of psychosocial development. She already seems to be have developed a sense of self and very mature for her age. She is very independent for an 11 years old most likely product of a neglectful father. Consequently, this is a theme that I wanted to touch on. Emotional intelligence relies so much on the influence of a parenting style. In this case, we see a widower dedicated to his work. It is evident that he has as neglectful tendencies towards his daughter on the threshold of adolescence. He has seemed uninvolved with Vada when she needed him the most case being when Vada started hemorrhaging and seen yelling for her daddy. Shelly had become Vada s antagonist, made it her duty as a woman to explain that what was happening to Vada was menstruation. She went so far as to presumably giving Vada The Talk. having been explained about the birds and the bees Vada wanted nothing to do with Thomas J, when he came soliciting her to go swimming on such a hot day. How is the assumption of rationality used in the economic analysis of individual behaviour? In many academic disciplines much is spoken about rationality and rational choices. Economists generally refer to rational choices and that individuals in economic theory are rational. By rational we mean people choose options which they perceive to be the best, given the circumstances they are in. In terms of making rational choices some of the conceivable options for example of going to work would be: В· Actually going to work. В· Staying at home В· Going out shopping В· Buying a house В· Fly to the moon etc. But with these choices we face... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However the consequences of making a choice that may seem rational is not always taken into consideration as in many cases the choice taken may be actually irrational. For example, somebody deciding or not they should buy a sandwich with limited money, will certainly consider the immediate satisfaction of their hunger, but it is dependant on the individual how much importance they would give to the fact that they wouldn t be able to get the bus back home later that night and would catch a cold from walking back, resulting in days off work and subsequent loss of income. It could be said therefore that anyone who bought the sandwich would be considered irrational . The assumption that one is always in possession of all their rational senses is a dangerous one to make. It can hardly be assumed that the decision of anyone already very drunk on a night out to buy another alcoholic beverage to be rational .They know that it will result in them being violently sick and lead to them regretting the purchase in the morning, yet this does occur as their intoxicated state has robbed them of the power of rational thought. The same can be said of other conditions such as stress and being in love. In terms of decision makers, rational decision making operates where a decider in an environment must choose among alternative courses of action, each leading to a different expected environmental outcome, where some outcomes are ... The Mayan Script This source provides a thorough timeline of the major events that took place in deciphering the Mayan scripts, beginning in the 16th century when Spanish invaders conquered the Maya empire and forced them to convert to Christianity and speak and write in Spanish. In addition to that, the Spanish invaders wanted to wipe out the ancient Maya script. For example, a friar named Diego Landa staged a massive burning of hundreds of Maya bark paper books because he believed them to be unorthodox. Yet, four years later Landa wrote a manuscript about the Maya called Relation of the Things of Yucatan . The Cold War placed most of the post war world into a perpetual state of paranoia and dramatically rose tensions between both world powers and their respective ideologies; the Communist Soviet Union and Capitalist America. Both of these powers were in a race to have the advantage over one another, with accelerations in arms developments and eventually creating a standoff between the the Western and Eastern blocs. Two national leaders were very prevalent in bringing a significant amount of change to the European Region, the first leader being Harry Truman (1945 1953) who introduced the Truman Doctrine and Marshall Plan with the slogan It must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities and outside pressures The second significant leader who exacted significant change in the European Region and subsequently culminated the Cold Warwas Mikhail Gorbachev (1985 1991) whose policies of Glasnost Openness and Economic, Political and Social Perestroika Restructuring followed his belief that It would be naive to think that the problems plaguing mankind today can be solved with means and methods which were applied or seemed to work in the past. . .
