Courtney Love Research Paper
Courtney Michelle Love (previously Courtney Michelle Harrison) is an American rock musician and
actress who was born on July 9th, 1964 in California. Growing up, she felt neglected by those around
her. After her parents got divorced, Courtney seemed out of control, as she didn t know how to cope
with it. She was then raised by her mom for a few years, but Courtney was so intolerable that she was
abandoned by her. She jumped from foster home to foster home and found herself all alone. She got
into trouble plenty of times with money, legal issues, careers, and substance abuse, yet she persevered.
Courtney Love is an inspiration to me because she strived to get what she wanted, formed a band that
is one of the main reasons I play the guitar, and successfully cleaned up from substance abuse after a
long battle with it. Courtney Love is a woman who always loved being in the spotlight. She sought to
be in the entertainment industry at a young age. She soon started exposing herself to music and taught
herself how to play guitar. She loved it so much that she worked often and hard to form a band. She
finally did. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It consisted of Courtney on vocals and guitar, Eric Erlandson on guitar, Jill Emery on bass, and
Caroline Rue on drums (Caroline and Jill would be replaced later on). The band released their debut
album Pretty on the Inside in 1991. It was pretty successful, but their following album Live Through
This was even more successful. Their next album Celebrity Skin had a more polished sound than Live
Through This; it s leading song Celebrity Skin reached the top of the charts. Both of these albums
inspired me in such a way that I have never felt. The chord progressions are catchy, screams are
empowering, and lyrics about Courtney s troubled life strengthened my sense of empathy. Even
though these albums were wide selling and brough Love the attention she wanted, she was struggling
with drug abuse underneath it

Ostrom s Privatization Definition
Overall, Ostrom is critical of Hardin s approach in dealing with over exploited common resources
such privatization and government regulation. She is critical of the inflexibility of Hardin s model and
its pessimistic outlook for the future (Ostrom et al., 1999). Moreover, it has become evident that
common pool resources, such as overfishing, are difficult to address. Ostrom, argues that for the past
two decades the approaches taken to address common pool resources, many following Hardin s
model, have not been successful in addressing negative externalities and in some cases have induced
further damages (Ostrom,2008). One of the arguments Ostrom would make would be against
privatization and government regulation of fisheries. Ostrom, makes clear that privatization of open
access resources is often inefficient (Ostrom et al., 1999). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Privatization would address these issues on a broad scale with standard regulations that would not take
into consideration underlying conflict experienced by the poorer users of the common resource
(Ostrom et al., 1999). Instead, management of these resources should be site specific, where some
fishery communities would benefit from self organized monitoring and implementation (Ostrom et al.,
1999). For instance, the government intervention for northern cod in Canadian waters had a
disproportionate impact on local fishers, who established local rules, yet government intrusion caused
a collapse to the fishery market and outside fishers didn t suffer the consequences as heavily as the
locals, causing higher poverty rates and unemployment (Ostrom,

Disney Movies And The Concepts Of Sexism In Disney Movies
Sexism is an arrangement of dispositions and practices towards individuals that judge or put down
them in the premise of their sex, or that sustain cliche suppositions about sexual orientation parts.
These days, the term is frequently used to allude to men s state of mind towards women, the mentality
doesn t generally need to be awful however. In the disney motion pictures the audience see today we
generally observe sexism towards women, since they are never ready to ensure themselves, but instead
we have the male character swoop in to allow her out, and this is the thing that surprises a few of the
audience when viewers see or discuss disney movies. Disney movies are full of sexist messages which
teach young girls to accomplish a submissive role in society such as Beauty and the Beast , Aladdin ,
and Snow white . Young girls have learned to admire the Disney princesses, and have even began to
look at them as the perfect role models to follow in order to achieve perfect lives. These disney
movies teach young girls that they need a male figure in their lives for them to fulfil their idea of a
perfect life . for the second stage of the analysis, a toy that appeared both on the list of toys disney

both boys and girls . In this article Auster Carol concentrates on the analysis of the color and type of

The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights
I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten
amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth Amendment.
The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts are used
interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil liberties are
protections against government actions. Whereas civil rights refer to positive actions governments
should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to distinguish between
civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the civil right to free expression
or creation of equal conditions in forum 4.1. Whereas in forum 4.2 I present a provision of the US
Patriot Act related to civil liberties or protections against federal government action.
Forum 4.1: Anti Abortion T Shirt and Civil Right to Free Expression
On April 26, 2005, the third National Pro Life T shirt Day two sisters (Brittany and Tamera Chandler)

Kardashian Family Research Paper
The internet is perhaps one of mankind s greatest milestones. It connects people from all over the
world, thus eradicating traditional boundaries of land and sea. Along with this connectivity comes the
availability of information and instant communication. This sort of digitalization of human interaction
is evident in social media websites like Facebook. People are able to communicate with each other and
share aspects of their lives constantly. A popular form of self expression present across all social
media platforms is the selfie : an informal photograph of oneself taken by that person either with a
front facing camera or other form of unprofessional photography. It has become such a phenomenon
that it was named Oxford English Dictionary s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They catapulted into the spotlight because of a sex tape (McClain 10) then went on to star in their own
reality show that chronicled their transgressions, conflicts, extravagant vacations, and short lived
marriages (McClain 5) which allowed them to cement their position in television, media, and
American culture itself. In her book analyzing the Kardashian empire, Amanda Scheiner McClain
describes their ubiquity and what they represent: The Kardashians are more than just a reality TV
show: they are a contemporary cultural touchstone, recognizable throughout the world; connoting
warrantless celebrity, voluptuous beauty, and flash in the pan marriage (McClain 1). In fact, the
popularity of their show says more about society than the Kardashian themselves. There is a sense of
fascination and perhaps envy prevalent in the Kardashian s popularity. People watch because in a way
they are vicariously living and experiencing a life of luxury through the Kardashians. The Kardashians
represent an aspect of American culture that is materialistic, excessive, and superficial. While the
show itself warrants discussion on its own, it is family member s activity on social media that will be
discussed throughout this essay. While they are most active on major social media platforms like
Twitter, their activity on the photo application Instagram will be the prime example since Kim ranks as
its most popular user with over 27 million followers, and other family members like Kendall, Kyle,
Khloe, and Rob claiming third, fifth, seventh, and tenth place respectively (McCalin

The Beauty Of The Beholder
An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of
society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine
the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which
brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident
when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip
clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable.
Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would
reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable
beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective
form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are
based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are
objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone
present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity
requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell

Darwin s Theory On Evolution
Darwin s theory on Evolution Evolution is the belief that all living forms including humans came from
ancient ancestors. Evolution is what makes life possible. It allows organisms to adapt to the
environment as it changes. In Biology, theory of evolution does not tell us how life began on earth, but
it helps us understand how life came into existence, diversified in many forms on earth, and fossil
records. Scientists have many theories on evolution. One of the theories suggests all the healthy
species can reproduce but they do so imperfectly. Small variations can build up over generations to
create dramatic differences in the body form and function of living creature, called biological
evolution. Evidence overwhelmingly suggests that all life on earth is related. Charles Robert Darwin,
an English naturalist and geologist, established that all species of life on earth have descended over
time from common ancestors. In 1859, Darwin released his theory of evolution in The Origin of
Species. Darwin presents his idea that species evolved through process called Nature Selection.
Charles Darwin says:
Thus, from the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of
conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this
view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and
that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of

W.H. Auden s Poems and Homosexuality Essay
W.H. Auden s Poems and Homosexuality
W. H. Auden published This lunar beauty in 1930; he published Now through night s caressing grip in
1935, and he published Lay your sleeping head, my love in 1937 (Auden 16; 41; 51). [I]t has been
argued that the first part of the twentieth century s culture is dominated by attempts to keep
homosexuality hidden, ... [and a] number of homosexual writers in the period maintain public silence
about their sex lives, and dramatize homosexual themes indirectly, if at all (Caserio). While it s
unclear whether Auden s abovementioned 1930s poems dramatize homosexual themes, they do share
obscure settings and references to wandering, clandestine lovers who seek healing, safety, and

Fortunately, the soul has escaped from daytime into a place that [k]eeps other time[,] and like a
dream[,] this place allows the soul the safety and freedom of expressing its latent, subconscious
desires. However, this new place has its flaws, too:
But this was never A ghost s endeavour Nor finished this, Was ghost at ease; And till it pass Love shall
not near The sweetness here Nor sorrow take His endless look. (16 24)
The soul didn t have the initial goal of only being able to express its love under the faint light of the
moon, and when this faint light changes to the glaring light of the sun, the soul is sorrowful that its
love can no longer be openly expressed. It finds temporary healing in this lunar beauty, but only till it
pass[es;] after that, the soul once again has to be fickle and unwillingly keep a measured distance from
its love. A similar sentiment is expressed in Now through night s caressing grip :
Now the ragged vagrants creep Into crooked holes to sleep: ... Awkward lovers lie in fields... May
sleep s healing power extend Through these hours to our friend. Unpursued by hostile force,... Calmly
till the morning

Symbolism In Dr Strangelove
Stanley Kubrick s, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, is a
political satire of the Cold War that displays the fear of nuclear devastation after World War II, which
created an atmosphere of suspicion, with everyone prepared and waiting for the bomb to drop.
Kubrick s film portrays a worst case scenario in which humans become the victims to the machines of
destruction they have created and depend on for safety. At a time when the whole country was terrified
of the Soviet Union, Kubrick s film portrayed the issue through humor, instead of fear. Through the
link of symbolism between a male s ego and the underlying sexual nature of war, a relationship

Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb challenges the beliefs of war
and equates war to a mockery created by sexually crippled men. The most symbolic scene in the film,
one that truly exemplifies what Kubrick was trying to show his audience, is the famous riding of the
bomb scene in which actor Slim Pickens howls with satisfaction and lust as he plummets toward earth
with an atomic bomb firmly between his legs. Kubrick s effect is to make the audience want to see that
bomb dropped which is the climax with Kong riding it. His mind far from fear or doubt, he is
exhilarated. The imagery of straddling the bomb, the intensity and satisfaction with which he
dislodges the bomb and ensures not only his own destruction but also those around him. Dr.
Strangelove, whose name captures the essence of the film is sexually awakened and regains the ability
to walk. The strange love in this movie is actually the love for the bomb, or the lust of one country for

Computers And The World Wide Web Essay
Computers play a huge role in our lives today and are an essential aspect of our day to day lives.
However, computers did not just immediately come into existence. Over a span of more than 100
years, computers have come a long way and will continue to evolve in the future. Computers are
continuously improving in both hardware and software design. In addition, new computers with faster
processing speed, more memory space, and improved clock speed are always being developed and
brought into the marketplace. However, one thing that will continue to remain the same in all
computers and continue to serve the same purpose is the World Wide Web, more commonly referred
to as the Web or the web. Similar to the development of computers, the World Wide Web was not
created overnight, but took time, effort, and brainpower to invent. We can credit this fascinating
invention that connects everyone in the world to British physicist and computer scientist Sir Tim
Berners Lee. Sir Tim Berners Lee was born on June 8, 1955 in London, England to Mary Lee Wood
and Conway Berners Lee. Mary Lee and Conway met while they were both working on the first
commercially built computer, the Ferranti Mark 1. As a boy, Sir Berners Lee was an avid train spotter
and developed a knowing for train and railway parts by tinkering with small toys. His fascination with
mechanical and technical objects throughout the early part of his life lead him to study at The Queens

that if any critical problem comes in the future then maintenance person can take the help of updated
database for finding out the solution. Here maintenance person should be internet savvy so that he can
update the maintenance database.
VII. ECONOMIC IMPACT OF E MAINTENANCE
For any company major concern is cost factor. Generally maintenance cost are divided into main four
major categories [1].
Direct Cost: It includes costs such as :
a) Labor cost: Labors who are working in maintenance department for daily activities. E maintenance
always works on condition based maintenance. So the company which implements e maintenance will
always have minimum workers. b) Spare parts inventory: Company always requires to have some
important spare parts in inventory. It should be always beneficial if they have optimum inventory. E
maintenance always predicts the future life of equipments so company based on e maintenance reports
can purchase only required additional spare parts. It will reduce unnecessary inventory cost.
Economic Losses, Potential Savings or Potential, Income Sources : It includes losses due to having
insufficient maintenance activities, i.e. unplanned stoppages and failures

Summary Of The American Crisis Number One By Thomas Paine
During the period of the Revolution, many rationalist rose to prominence and importance in a quest
for a new type of government that would break away from the chains of tyranny. Although not as well
known as other Rationalist writers / speakers such as Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin, Thomas
Paine is the most persuasive Rationalist writer / speaker as he appeals to the common man, his use of
emotional passages to prove a factual point, and his reliance on imagery that evokes strong emotion .
Thomas Paine s style and his call to action appeals to the common man. Paine says this as he is calling
to action the ordinary man to participate in the Revolution, I turn with the warm ardor of a friend to
those who have nobly stood, and yet are determined to stand the matter out : I call not upon a few , but
upon all : not this state or that state , but on every state : up and help us ; lay your shoulders to the
wheel ; better have too much force than too little , when so great an object is at stake . paragraph 4 ,
The American Crisis Number One . Thomas Paine presents the idea of a revolution as an extensive
issue that any man can help with no matter with what they align themselves with . Paine s style has an
urgent sense of heroism that comes across in an almost pleading manner that calls anyone to action for
the fear of doing to little and facing the repercussions a loss could mean .

Causes Of The Louisiana Purchase
In the eyes of several, the Louisiana Purchase may well be recognized as one of the all time greatest
real estate deal. As Paul Leicester stated in his work of The Works of Thomas Jefferson Jefferson at
the stroke of a pen essentially doubled the territorial extent of the United States. On April 30, 1803,
U.S. representatives located in Paris approved to purchase 828,000 square miles at the very cost
efficient amount of fifteen million dollars that spread from the Mississippi River to the Rocky
Mountains, and from the Gulf of Mexico all the way north to Canada. To better realize how
inexpensive the United States purchased that land for was about eighteen dollars and some change per
square mile. Soon enough, the newly purchased land of western territory became six states and
portions of nine present day states. As one could imagine this great purchase did not happen without a
buildup of time, and without many factors leading up to the Louisiana Purchase. Below are a couple of
factors such as the Spanish control of New Orleans and Napoleon s burning desire for the Caribbean
Island of Haiti. To begin, the borders of this territory was made up of the east side of the Mississippi
River, the Gulf of Mexico on the south, the Rocky Mountains on the west and Canada along the
northern border. Originally, France claimed this territory, then Spain was granted this territory in 1763
in the Treaty of Paris, due to their backing of the French in the war. At the time, the French thought

There is no widely accepted definition of what an indie game is, but there are a few defining
characteristics. Indie games, or independently developed games, are usually developed by a small
team without the funding of a publisher. Usually the companies that make these games are specifically
formed to create these small games. These companies (due to the lack of a publisher) have total
creative freedom for their games and no limitations on what can be in these games. They often touch
on delicate and sensitive subjects that mainstream games would not. The fact that these teams are

childrenâ€TMs learning against their objectives by using ongoing methods of assessment. This is
known as formative assessment methods and can be used throughout any lesson. I ask children open

In the Gospel of Luke, Luke pronounces all that Jesus began to do and teach until the day he was
taken up, after he had given instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles... (Act 1:1 2 CSB).
However, Acts is the account of all that Jesus continued to do and to teach through His apostles by the

accomplish the Great Commission throughout his book. Fernando provides a great outline of Acts

Isolating and identifying major motivating factors in the complex global landscape of the Cold War is,
without a doubt, difficult, but in the case of the Minuteman Missiles and the Amit Ballistic Missile
System, three factors can be identified. The major shift in Vietnam policy, a growth in counter culture
and willingness to protest, and the decreased influence of the Catholic Church in North Dakota over
the six year period between the installation of Minuteman Missiles and the installation of the Anti
Ballistic Missile all contributed to an increase in protest in 1970. The birth of civil defense in the
United States was slow, painful, and it almost ended before it began. The Office of Civil Defence was

Epidemiological Studies On Erds
Epidemiological data
The annual incidence of ARDS is 13 23 people per 100,000 in the general population and it is higher
in the mechanically ventilated population in intensive care units which represents 16.1% percent in
ventilated. Pneumonia and sepsis are considered as leading trigger of ARDS as pneumonia represent
in up to 60% of patients and may be either causes or complications of ARDS and according to
literature approximately 30% of patients with severe sepsis may develop ARDS or ALI. Other triggers
include aspiration, circulatory shock, mechanical ventilation, smoke inhalation, trauma especially
pulmonary contusion major surgery, massive blood transfusions, drug reaction or overdose, fat emboli
and reperfusion pulmonary edema after lung transplantation or pulmonary embolectomy. Alcohol
excess appears to increase the risk of ARDS. Until the 1990s, majority of studies reported a 40 70%
mortality rate for ARDS. However, 2 reports in the 1990s, one from a large county hospital in Seattle
and one from the United Kingdom, suggested much lower mortality rates, in the range of 30 40%.
Possible explanations for the improved survival rates may be better understanding and treatment of
sepsis, recent changes in the mechanical ventilation, and better overall supportive care of critically ill
patients. (Koh et al, 2012)
We noticed that most deaths in ARDS are related to sepsis or multiorgan failure rather than to a
primary pulmonary cause, although the recent success of mechanical

Essay On Reading And Reading
Throughout my life, I have had many experiences that revolve around reading and writing. In the
beginning, my parents waited until kindergarten to start me on my reading journey. They experienced
my siblings through their elementary years; they became bored easily because they already knew how
to read, so they did not overly teach me before I started school. Luckily, that benefited me greatly. I
grew to love education and rose to the top tier of learning in the class. Unfortunately, I do not
remember much of my early literacy achievements, but there is one memory that stuck with me. I can
still remember when I found out the impact reading and writing can have on the growth of an
individual. During the summer after my sixth grade year, my family went to Disney World. Before we
packed I had my mom help me pick out books to read during the vacation. She gave me one book in

The book had been published earlier that year and it did not have its popularity yet. She explained to
me that not every book could end with happiness. Some books needed to have realistic or saddening

Through the rest of the trip, I could feel the impact that The Fault in Our Stars had on me. I could not
stop thinking about how it was different from the books I had read previously. I realized that there
were multiple types of books that I had never pursued before, which allowed me to experience
something special. I started to read books that did not have a guaranteed pleasant ending. My writing

Moving To A Small Town Research Paper
For me the move to Charlotte was a big improvement from my hometown. Yes the move does have its
downside but when comparing the overall positives to the negatives, the good outweighs the bad.
Coming from me that is major because when my mother first told me and my sister that we were
moving I was not the happiest camper. The thought of moving from the country side to the city, did
not excite me at all.
My home town is none other than small town Greenwood located in South Carolina. Greenwood is a
very small town population 69,520. A town so small that everyone seemed to know everyone, this was
my least favorite thing about living there. But the peace and quiet and green scenery outweighed it.
Don t get me wrong the fact that everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I remember the great things I loved about greenwood. The peace and quietness of the country
side is what I loved the most, less distractions when you needed time to focus, no loud cars and sirens
when you needed rest, and just sitting outside enjoying the fresh air without hearing a lot of racket.
Living the country side allowed you have your own personal space, not having another family that
lived so close to you that you felt they were in your own yard. There was so much land around my
home I could enjoy things like having a full court to shoot hoops on, enjoy things like riding go carts,
four wheelers, and dirt bikes. Not only did I enjoy have all that space, but so did my dog Snoopy, he
was able to roam freely and mark his territory where ever he pleased. Not only did I have the comfort
of the low crime rate and the comfort of having space, your own getaway within your home, but I also
had the comfort of my a few family member who were my neighbors, all of my near neighbors were
my family members, with them living so close they were there to help raise me, and I am so thankful
to have had family so

The Catastrophic Event
Introduction Catastrophic event may be either natural or man made. An event that is termed to be
catastrophic is an event that can greatly have a negative effect on an organization. It may lead to great
loss in an organization upon it s occurrence whether by great loss financially or loss of significant data
relating to the running of the organization. It may also lead to loss of life of employees or injure them
greatly (Cornell Foutch, 2002). In order to avoid such effects which will greatly affect the running of
the organization and leave a great impact on its activities which may take a long time to recover, it is
up to the company to recognize the event and come up with an effective plan to handle the event if it

Cherrys plan with the federal emergency plan Dr. Cherrys emergency plan in comparison to the
federal emergency plan will be considered as a success as it in a great way goes along with it. Like the
federal emergency plan his plan aims at training personnel with first aid skills. This will help at
minimizing loss of lives in times of an emergency also in life protecting and recovery following the
disaster. He also in his program trains students on public health and medical needs following a major
disaster like in the federal emergency plan, he also trains students to help casualties trapped in
collapsed structure in times of an emergency. Though his plan is somehow similar to the federal
emergency plan, his program lacks essential skills for unlike in the federal plan his program does not
train students on skills such as firefighting and potential discharge of hazardous materials following a
disaster. It also unlike in the federal emergency plan does not consider the identifying and securing for
arrangement for transportation of essentials such as foodstuffs to people in areas affected by a disaster

Tactical administration in the business world operations is an important aspect. These makes us
understand the benefits attached at its aims. Izmir
National University is not exempted and certain procedures should be followed to achieve these goals.
The institution is in a shortfall based on the circumstance that the proportion of the teachers to the
student is enormous. meaning that the numeral of students served by one teacher is too much, and
thus, there is a shortage teachers. No amount of teacher can tutor so many students and grasp the

2. What would you recommend the Dekan do regarding the Business School s strategic planning
process? What role would you recommend the Dekan play in this process?
The school can get over the difficulties it faces if certain guidelines and measures are followed. The
important solutions include; Communication and consultation. No institution can strive and be
productive without consultation. All business requires a platform whereby communication amongst
the people is involved. Regarding this university, parties involved includes the students, tutors and
other stockholders of the institution. If working platforms to enhance better communication is put in
place, low risks of tussles in the school will be reduced. Also since the Dekan is concerned about the
number of meetings held in the school every year, few meetings which will benefit the university and
as well save cost should be financed as to discourage mismanagement and wasting of university s
funds which can be diverted to help settle other issues of the university. However, If the capital
assigned to the meetings are sufficient to hold up to four or less meetings in a year, communication
amongst the officials should be effective on which of the meetings should be given high priorities or
not. The distribution of funds should be vividly deliberated, and the funding will be properly utilized.
Research in the university is not to be compromised. Also, the research

Summary Of Will Allen s The Good Food Revolution
Will Allen s The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, and Communities is not just
a book about agriculture, it s about life. The book is Will Allen s diary about his past, present and
future. This book is an inspiration. Will Allen writes to show us that our past, might always come back
to haunt us, but the second time it can be a positive experience based on our efforts. In the following I
will provide a summary of the book, describe the importance of the book, and lastly I will provide a
critique on Will Allen s, The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, and
Communities. As an African American, Allen has not only suffer from racism, but also from the
unfairness in the world of food. He explains how his parents were slaves back in 1920s, and how that
caused him to have a negative view towards agriculture. He states that he never enjoyed farming
during that time. He had always had a passion for agriculture, but there was always something
negative in this path that kept him from enjoying it. Will Allen s love for agriculture, became the
reason why he desired to start his organization, Growing Power. His organization does not earn profits
by harming the poor, it hopes to create an alternative to the nation s centralized industrial food system.
His origination teaches people how to grow food, cook food, and embrace a way of ... Show more

Analytical Analysis Of The Preface By C. Ellis
In the Preface, Ellis recreates the sense of urgency felt at the time of the Revolutionary War. Ellis
discusses how the founding members of the revolutionary generation secured their legacies through
battle and later though legislation. Ellis reminds the reader that our forefathers risked being hung for
treason. No other colony at that time in history had ever successfully won its independence to form a
lasting republic, thus the United States had no basis to build upon.
Ellis supplements the reader with many of the different perspectives of the American Revolution.
Some of the revolutionary leaders thought in the long run that America had the potential to become a
unified nation. Others were more shortsighted; they just wanted to secede ... Show more content on

The Jeffersonian tale claims that the nation formed a successful republic, only to fail at the hands of
the Federalists led by Alexander Hamilton. The other interpretation suggests that the Federalist leaders
created an inclusive government which was marred by the ideologies of Jefferson and his associates.
To this day, the debate between the dominant political parties remains, and can be traced to this
unsolvable conflict. Thankfully, the government was so overwhelmed by practical problems that these
issues did not cause a civil war.
Analysis
Ellis hopes to draw attention to the Founding Fathers as they really were: men of unique talent caught
in the crossfire of a revolution, but prone to mistakes as well as victory and success. Ellis not only
uncovers the truth of these seminal figures, but also reveals how their actions influenced the course of
history. Therefore, he focuses primarily on the players themselves, wishing to explore how their
relationships resonated through political changes.
Ellis wants the readers to realize the anxieties that these men actually felt at the time, when success
was not so assured. The chapters are linked both by Ellis pursuit of balanced truth and the

Essay on Critical History of As I Lay Dying
Nashia Horne
28 November 2011
English 290
Critical History Assignment
Many of William Faulkner s books, especially As I Lay Dying focused on the South in the aftermath
of the Civil War. The themes of his and other Southern authors included: a common Southern history,
the significance of family, a sense of community and one s role within it, the Church and its burdens
and rewards, racial tension, land and the promise it brings, one s social class and place, and,
sometimes, the use of the Southern dialect. The criticism of the novel has changed over the years with
critics using everything from Psychoanalytic theory to Marxist theory to explain the importance of
language and the historical content behind the novel. In his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Darl is thus established as an outsider, as he is an unwanted child, and contributes to his unsureness of
selfhood. Adamowski cites Fairbairn s theory on constant oscillation and the desire for independence
and fear of abandonment. Darl only experiences the isolation side and this choice is made for him.
Adamowski points out parallels between Dewey Dell and Addie as she is pregnant and trying to
violate the violation through an abortion. This contributes to the incestual undertones that Adamowski
illustrates between Jewel and Addie, and Darl and Dewey Dell. Adamowski believes that there are
Oedipal complexes present in both Jewel and Darl who displace their love on his horse and Dewey
Dell, respectively. Addie is portrayed as a callused and irreverent character, but Adamowski believes
that he triumphs. Also Anse is portrayed as a stranger/outsider and this contributes to Addie s role as a
father/phallic symbol, instead of just as a maternal figure. Carolyn Norma Slaughter s article addresses
the idea of language and meaning in the novel, with particular focus on Addie s view of these themes.
She points out that the story revolves around Addie, whose death is the reason for the novel, and to
whom the central chapter of the book is given. Because of this, it s important to note her ideas about
words and what they mean. Slaughter

Algebraic And Transcendental Equation
Solution of Algebraic Transcendental Equation
Introduction
When mathematically modeling real life situations we often come across equations in the form of
f(x)=0. These equations can either be in the form of algebraic or transcendental equations. In certain
cases, these equations may prove to be difficult to solve, as the equation may not have an exact
answer. A problem of great importance in science and engineering is that of determining the
roots/zeros of an equation of the form

Transferability Skills Analysis
In determining employability, one must determine and consider a person s current occupational
profile, which includes their functional abilities, education, aptitudes, work experience and
transferable skills.
Just because two individuals have an identical impairment does not necessarily equate to them both
becoming work disabled. One may not be work disabled based upon her/her occupational profile.
Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists (VRS) are qualified to use work samples and standardized
testing tools, as well as to interpret physical/functional capacity information and the National
Occupational Classification Career Handbook as it pertains to the world of work. Testing materials
VRS are qualified to use (if required), usually include: general aptitude for learning, academic
abilities, vocational interest, work style and other aptitudinal profiles. The transferable skills analysis
is a very important process that can determine a person s adjusted occupational profile based upon
past performance and achievement. The evaluation process also includes determining vocational

  • 2. Courtney Love Research Paper Courtney Michelle Love (previously Courtney Michelle Harrison) is an American rock musician and actress who was born on July 9th, 1964 in California. Growing up, she felt neglected by those around her. After her parents got divorced, Courtney seemed out of control, as she didn t know how to cope with it. She was then raised by her mom for a few years, but Courtney was so intolerable that she was abandoned by her. She jumped from foster home to foster home and found herself all alone. She got into trouble plenty of times with money, legal issues, careers, and substance abuse, yet she persevered. Courtney Love is an inspiration to me because she strived to get what she wanted, formed a band that is one of the main reasons I play the guitar, and successfully cleaned up from substance abuse after a long battle with it. Courtney Love is a woman who always loved being in the spotlight. She sought to be in the entertainment industry at a young age. She soon started exposing herself to music and taught herself how to play guitar. She loved it so much that she worked often and hard to form a band. She finally did. ... It consisted of Courtney on vocals and guitar, Eric Erlandson on guitar, Jill Emery on bass, and Caroline Rue on drums (Caroline and Jill would be replaced later on). The band released their debut album Pretty on the Inside in 1991. It was pretty successful, but their following album Live Through This was even more successful. Their next album Celebrity Skin had a more polished sound than Live Through This; it s leading song Celebrity Skin reached the top of the charts. Both of these albums inspired me in such a way that I have never felt. The chord progressions are catchy, screams are empowering, and lyrics about Courtney s troubled life strengthened my sense of empathy. Even though these albums were wide selling and brough Love the attention she wanted, she was struggling with drug abuse underneath it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ostrom s Privatization Definition Overall, Ostrom is critical of Hardin s approach in dealing with over exploited common resources such privatization and government regulation. She is critical of the inflexibility of Hardin s model and its pessimistic outlook for the future (Ostrom et al., 1999). Moreover, it has become evident that common pool resources, such as overfishing, are difficult to address. Ostrom, argues that for the past two decades the approaches taken to address common pool resources, many following Hardin s model, have not been successful in addressing negative externalities and in some cases have induced further damages (Ostrom,2008). One of the arguments Ostrom would make would be against privatization and government regulation of fisheries. Ostrom, makes clear that privatization of open access resources is often inefficient (Ostrom et al., 1999). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Privatization would address these issues on a broad scale with standard regulations that would not take into consideration underlying conflict experienced by the poorer users of the common resource (Ostrom et al., 1999). Instead, management of these resources should be site specific, where some fishery communities would benefit from self organized monitoring and implementation (Ostrom et al., 1999). For instance, the government intervention for northern cod in Canadian waters had a disproportionate impact on local fishers, who established local rules, yet government intrusion caused a collapse to the fishery market and outside fishers didn t suffer the consequences as heavily as the locals, causing higher poverty rates and unemployment (Ostrom, ... • 4. Disney Movies And The Concepts Of Sexism In Disney Movies Sexism is an arrangement of dispositions and practices towards individuals that judge or put down them in the premise of their sex, or that sustain cliche suppositions about sexual orientation parts. These days, the term is frequently used to allude to men s state of mind towards women, the mentality doesn t generally need to be awful however. In the disney motion pictures the audience see today we generally observe sexism towards women, since they are never ready to ensure themselves, but instead we have the male character swoop in to allow her out, and this is the thing that surprises a few of the audience when viewers see or discuss disney movies. Disney movies are full of sexist messages which teach young girls to accomplish a submissive role in society such as Beauty and the Beast , Aladdin , and Snow white . Young girls have learned to admire the Disney princesses, and have even began to look at them as the perfect role models to follow in order to achieve perfect lives. These disney movies teach young girls that they need a male figure in their lives for them to fulfil their idea of a perfect life . for the second stage of the analysis, a toy that appeared both on the list of toys disney deemed us appropriate for boys and the list of toys for girls would be categorized only as a toy for both boys and girls . • 5. The Difference Between Civil Rights And Civil Rights I noted that the U.S. civil liberties, as well as, U.S. civil rights are generally located in the first ten amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, as well as, the Fourteenth Amendment. The distinction between civil liberties and civil rights is blurred since the concepts are used interchangeably, even though they refer to different kinds of guaranteed protections. Civil liberties are protections against government actions. Whereas civil rights refer to positive actions governments should take to create equal conditions. The primary objective of this essay is to distinguish between civil rights and civil liberties. In this essay, I present a case related to the civil right to free expression or creation of equal conditions in forum 4.1. Whereas in forum 4.2 I present a provision of the US Patriot Act related to civil liberties or protections against federal government action. Forum 4.1: Anti Abortion T Shirt and Civil Right to Free Expression On April 26, 2005, the third National Pro Life T shirt Day two sisters (Brittany and Tamera Chandler) who resided in Des Moines, Iowa and enrolled in Roosevelt High School were asked to remove or cover up their pro life t shirts which were not considered appropriate. The two students Brittany age 18 and Tamera age 15: 1) were called into the Principal s Office after a Teacher expressed concern how other students might react to the t shirts and make the two students targets; and; 2) complained that ... It connects people from all over the world, thus eradicating traditional boundaries of land and sea. Along with this connectivity comes the availability of information and instant communication. This sort of digitalization of human interaction is evident in social media websites like Facebook. People are able to communicate with each other and share aspects of their lives constantly. A popular form of self expression present across all social media platforms is the selfie : an informal photograph of oneself taken by that person either with a front facing camera or other form of unprofessional photography. They catapulted into the spotlight because of a sex tape (McClain 10) then went on to star in their own reality show that chronicled their transgressions, conflicts, extravagant vacations, and short lived marriages (McClain 5) which allowed them to cement their position in television, media, and American culture itself. In her book analyzing the Kardashian empire, Amanda Scheiner McClain describes their ubiquity and what they represent: The Kardashians are more than just a reality TV show: they are a contemporary cultural touchstone, recognizable throughout the world; connoting warrantless celebrity, voluptuous beauty, and flash in the pan marriage (McClain 1). In fact, the popularity of their show says more about society than the Kardashian themselves. There is a sense of fascination and perhaps envy prevalent in the Kardashian s popularity. People watch because in a way they are vicariously living and experiencing a life of luxury through the Kardashians. The Kardashians represent an aspect of American culture that is materialistic, excessive, and superficial. While the show itself warrants discussion on its own, it is family member s activity on social media that will be discussed throughout this essay. While they are most active on major social media platforms like Twitter, their activity on the photo application Instagram will be the prime example since Kim ranks as its most popular user with over 27 million followers, and other family members like Kendall, Kyle, Khloe, and Rob claiming third, fifth, seventh, and tenth place respectively (McCalin ... • 7. The Beauty Of The Beholder An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable. Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Darwin s Theory On Evolution Darwin s theory on Evolution Evolution is the belief that all living forms including humans came from ancient ancestors. Evolution is what makes life possible. It allows organisms to adapt to the environment as it changes. In Biology, theory of evolution does not tell us how life began on earth, but it helps us understand how life came into existence, diversified in many forms on earth, and fossil records. Scientists have many theories on evolution. One of the theories suggests all the healthy species can reproduce but they do so imperfectly. Small variations can build up over generations to create dramatic differences in the body form and function of living creature, called biological evolution. Evidence overwhelmingly suggests that all life on earth is related. Charles Robert Darwin, an English naturalist and geologist, established that all species of life on earth have descended over time from common ancestors. In 1859, Darwin released his theory of evolution in The Origin of Species. Darwin presents his idea that species evolved through process called Nature Selection. Charles Darwin says: Thus, from the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of ... Symbolism In Dr Strangelove Stanley Kubrick s, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, is a political satire of the Cold War that displays the fear of nuclear devastation after World War II, which created an atmosphere of suspicion, with everyone prepared and waiting for the bomb to drop. Kubrick s film portrays a worst case scenario in which humans become the victims to the machines of destruction they have created and depend on for safety. At a time when the whole country was terrified of the Soviet Union, Kubrick s film portrayed the issue through humor, instead of fear. The most symbolic scene in the film, one that truly exemplifies what Kubrick was trying to show his audience, is the famous riding of the bomb scene in which actor Slim Pickens howls with satisfaction and lust as he plummets toward earth with an atomic bomb firmly between his legs. Kubrick s effect is to make the audience want to see that bomb dropped which is the climax with Kong riding it. His mind far from fear or doubt, he is exhilarated. The imagery of straddling the bomb, the intensity and satisfaction with which he dislodges the bomb and ensures not only his own destruction but also those around him. However, computers did not just immediately come into existence. Over a span of more than 100 years, computers have come a long way and will continue to evolve in the future. Computers are continuously improving in both hardware and software design. In addition, new computers with faster processing speed, more memory space, and improved clock speed are always being developed and brought into the marketplace. However, one thing that will continue to remain the same in all computers and continue to serve the same purpose is the World Wide Web, more commonly referred to as the Web or the web. Similar to the development of computers, the World Wide Web was not created overnight, but took time, effort, and brainpower to invent. We can credit this fascinating invention that connects everyone in the world to British physicist and computer scientist Sir Tim Berners Lee. Sir Tim Berners Lee was born on June 8, 1955 in London, England to Mary Lee Wood and Conway Berners Lee. Mary Lee and Conway met while they were both working on the first commercially built computer, the Ferranti Mark 1. As a boy, Sir Berners Lee was an avid train spotter and developed a knowing for train and railway parts by tinkering with small toys. Paine says this as he is calling to action the ordinary man to participate in the Revolution, I turn with the warm ardor of a friend to those who have nobly stood, and yet are determined to stand the matter out : I call not upon a few , but upon all : not this state or that state , but on every state : up and help us ; lay your shoulders to the wheel ; better have too much force than too little , when so great an object is at stake . paragraph 4 , The American Crisis Number One . Thomas Paine presents the idea of a revolution as an extensive issue that any man can help with no matter with what they align themselves with . Paine s style has an urgent sense of heroism that comes across in an almost pleading manner that calls anyone to action for the fear of doing to little and facing the repercussions a loss could mean . • 14. Causes Of The Louisiana Purchase In the eyes of several, the Louisiana Purchase may well be recognized as one of the all time greatest real estate deal. As Paul Leicester stated in his work of The Works of Thomas Jefferson Jefferson at the stroke of a pen essentially doubled the territorial extent of the United States. On April 30, 1803, U.S. representatives located in Paris approved to purchase 828,000 square miles at the very cost efficient amount of fifteen million dollars that spread from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, and from the Gulf of Mexico all the way north to Canada. To better realize how inexpensive the United States purchased that land for was about eighteen dollars and some change per square mile. Soon enough, the newly purchased land of western territory became six states and portions of nine present day states. As one could imagine this great purchase did not happen without a buildup of time, and without many factors leading up to the Louisiana Purchase. Below are a couple of factors such as the Spanish control of New Orleans and Napoleon s burning desire for the Caribbean Island of Haiti. To begin, the borders of this territory was made up of the east side of the Mississippi River, the Gulf of Mexico on the south, the Rocky Mountains on the west and Canada along the northern border. Originally, France claimed this territory, then Spain was granted this territory in 1763 in the Treaty of Paris, due to their backing of the French in the war. At the time, the French thought ... Pneumonia and sepsis are considered as leading trigger of ARDS as pneumonia represent in up to 60% of patients and may be either causes or complications of ARDS and according to literature approximately 30% of patients with severe sepsis may develop ARDS or ALI. Other triggers include aspiration, circulatory shock, mechanical ventilation, smoke inhalation, trauma especially pulmonary contusion major surgery, massive blood transfusions, drug reaction or overdose, fat emboli and reperfusion pulmonary edema after lung transplantation or pulmonary embolectomy. Alcohol excess appears to increase the risk of ARDS. Until the 1990s, majority of studies reported a 40 70% mortality rate for ARDS. However, 2 reports in the 1990s, one from a large county hospital in Seattle and one from the United Kingdom, suggested much lower mortality rates, in the range of 30 40%. Possible explanations for the improved survival rates may be better understanding and treatment of sepsis, recent changes in the mechanical ventilation, and better overall supportive care of critically ill patients. In the beginning, my parents waited until kindergarten to start me on my reading journey. Luckily, that benefited me greatly. I grew to love education and rose to the top tier of learning in the class. No other colony at that time in history had ever successfully won its independence to form a lasting republic, thus the United States had no basis to build upon. Adamowski points out parallels between Dewey Dell and Addie as she is pregnant and trying to violate the violation through an abortion.
