Essay on Symbolic Meaning of Blood in Macbeth by William...
Shakespeare, in his work Macbeth, uses many forms of imagery to grasp the attention of the
audience. His particular use of blood imagery is highly prevalent in Macbeth, a play set during the
tumultuous 11th century a century filled with unrest and uneasiness (as seen in the unification of
Scotland, and the famous Norman conquest of Britain in 1066). Shakespeare s use of blood
follows a circular motion; it begins as a representation of honour, and progresses into one of guilt,
then evil and finally returns to represent honour.
The symbolic use of blood, forms in the opening lines of Macbeth after accepting honour for his
bravery in battle. His sword, smoked with bloody execution signifies valiant fighting as a brave
soldier, and he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lady Macbeth, unlike her husband, does not show any guilt or sorrow directly after their
diabolical act of regicide, until her fevered sleepwalking, where she exposes her guilt using the
most blatant example of blood imagery the whole murder, in detail. Will these hands never be
clean? Here s the smell of blood still. She can no longer feel that water will simply wash away the
blood and thus, guilt and it is this thought that drives her to suicide.
Imagery should evoke all senses in the audience or reader. It is for this reason that Shakespeare
uses blood imagery in Macbeth. Using this method, Shakespeare reveals the transformation of the
tragedy s main characters and evokes varying emotional responses from the audience. This
imagery also intensifies the excitement and enhances the treachery of the crimes. The blood
imagery in Macbeth is significant for several reasons. Primarily, it signifies that the essence of
the victims life has left; and, as such, it symbolizes the loss of true humanness in Macbeth and
Lady Macbeth, who share responsibility for the murders. For, in shedding the blood of the god
like Duncan and the good Banquo, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become stained with the sin of
their bloody deeds. Finally, with so much imagery of blood, the horror of Macbeth s heinous deeds
leaves a lasting effect upon

Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Dependency on Technology in a Modern World
Introduction
Technology has virtually defined the human condition since the early stages in the species
evolution. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which
allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Further developments such
as fire, clothing, and shelter and so on changed the way humans lived and every aspect of their
lives. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a
seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. This essay will
question whether these devices will add to our wellbeing and improve our lives or if the
development of technology has hit a threshold point in which further developments are of little
practical value or even of negative consequence.
Communications
Of all the advancements in technology from its inception, the advancement in communication has
to be one of the most revolutionary forces that have come about. People now can communicate
with nearly anyone else in the world for very little cost and instantaneously through a variety of
mediums. People are free to move around the globe and never lose contact with the people that
they care about. Students can live video chat with other student half way around the world and can
even form interactive classrooms with a wide range of participants. Professors can record a lecture
that can be hosted on a site for anyone to

Earths Water is Full of Sharks
TYPE OF SHARKS
It is believed that a species has many family or in other word, kind or tribe. As for shark, there
are many kinds or type of shark which has slightly distinguished the species. Researchers
believed that different kind of shark has different kind of characteristics and behaviours. There
are so many species of sharks in the oceans around the world. Some of them are big in size while
others can be quite small and some of them are to be feared while some others just minding their
own business. It is surprised to know that some of the largest species of sharks in the ocean are the
nicest ones to encounter.
Great White Shark is the biggest of all the deadliest and dangerous sharks. It is also the most
popular shark among the people as it always appears in movies and documentaries. These kinds
of sharks are torpedo shaped, knife like tails and a pair of fins. There have been reports of the
Great Whites weighing in at over 7000 lbs and exceed 20 feet in length. Male and female great
white sharks grow at different rates as the males become adults in about nine years while the
female great white sharks grow larger than males and they took about 13 to 15 years to be
adults. Actually the Great White Shark has a white pearl colour on its belly and the top of its
body is actually a gray or blue in colour which makes it kind of difficult to see inside the water.
With a darkish colour on the back of the shark, it is hard for the other animals to spot them, which

Bees Pollination And Their Importance
An Analysis on Bees, Pollination, and Their Importance Abstract: This paper explores the roles
of bees in their hives and dissecting their extremely sophisticated colonies, with a focus on how
they pollinate and why pollination is detrimental to agriculture. In my research I discuss the
causes of their declination, and what kind of preventative actions we can take as inhibitors and
consumers to support them. This analysis draws upon primary and secondary sources including
online journals. What does our world look like without bees? Less green, and less resourceful in
several aspects for sure. Considering the fact that bees are responsible for pollinating several fruits
and vegetables, the shelves of our supermarkets would be lacking several... Show more content on

There are a few types of roles within each colony that demands different responsibilities from
each bee, and not any one position is more onerous than the other. The only bees that are held
responsible for pollinating are worker bees and these bees are all females unable to reproduce.
They are responsible for cleaning and maintaining a sterile the hive by removing dead bees or
larvae which prevent diseases from spreading. Worker bees also feed the queen, collect nectar,
pollen, and make the wax for the hive. The responsibilities of drone bees are significantly less
demanding because the only purpose is to mate with the queen, and most of them aren t even
able to. Eventually these drone bees are kicked out the hive in the fall because of how difficult it
is for worker bees to provide for them during the strenuous winter season. Finally, the queen s
obligations to the hive is simply to reproduce as she is the only fertile bee in the hive. The queen
is unable to provide for herself, but it compensates for the fact that she is able to reproduce up to
2000 eggs per day, which ultimately promotes the sustainability of the hive. Her life expectancy is
significantly much longer than the rest of the hive members, which can be up to 4 years, in
comparison to 6 8 weeks of a normal bee. Aside from these tasks, there are many other aspects that
are specific to bees that truly make them a sophisticated and extremely developed society. For
example, fanning is an act that the worker bees perform outside the hive in order to maintain the
temperature a constant and

Media Impact On Immigration
Quetext
About FAQ Contact
The topic of immigration has been a focus of controversy throughout the entire international
community. Waves of immigration influx in nations have caused surges in nationalist tendencies
amongst political leaders and citizens alike. Fears of cultural erosion, resource exhaustion, and
economic struggle has shown nations that were once supportive and progressive in their actions
towards the acceptance of immigration have moved inward on themselves to protect themselves
from a culturally diverse world. The reason to review this document is to question and analyze its
attempt to explain and define the growth of nationalism in democratic countries, to be specific the
United Kingdom, and how these surges occur, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end this document does take a unique approach in showing the extended reach and influence
the media has in shaping the outlooks of citizens on the world and society wither the events
illustrated directly affect the individual or not. The emphasis on how the media is creating a
progressive dilemma through the portrayal of increasing numbers of immigrants into the nation and
the threats this influx has on the cultural stability and longevity of the nation explains how the
citizens of the nation, wither directly affected by immigration or not, move towards a more
protectionist and nationalist state of mind in order to promote the conservation of the nation s
ethnic culture. The act of addressing the problems with public opinion when not provided with
all of the facts, but only certain facts, does show its colors and makes for a strong topic to be
discussed and addressed in further literature due to being only lightly addressed here. Being that
the biggest problem with this paper is the fact that there was such a small and focused group of
individuals polled, and no others, it would be best that future research into this matter should
contain a broader range of data, while still focusing on the central topic of how perceived effects of
immigration cause growth in nationalist and

Early Marriage Of Girls Negatively Affects Health...
Early marriage:
Early marriage of girls negatively affects health wellbeing among young women. In Sub Saharan
Africa, spiritual appeasement is among key reasons attributed to early marriage. In fact, girls
/young women are usually sacrificed to the ancestral spirit world (Sithole, 2007). (40) Mbiti
(1999) and Bediako (1997) explain that in African faith practice, females are generally viewed as
having a higher connectivity to the spirit world than males. For this reason, female children are the
preferred spiritual sacrifices because of their biological ability to reproduce children that will
promote generational continuity to the ancestral spirits. This notion may explain why a girl child,
and not a boy, is traditionally the choice for appeasing the spirits. Whether the motive to encourage
early marriage is cultural or spiritual or anywhere in between, it remains a fact that the practice
contributes to reduced health status for women as their bodies are oftren not physiologically ready
for childbearing leading to complications at child birth. A report on child and early marriage
showed that 38% of young women were married before reaching the age of 18, which make them
more likely to stop their education, become more vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse, to death
during pregnancy and delivery, to delivering unhealthy children, and would most certainly remain
caged in poverty. (41) All this chaos is protected in Sudan by the Personal Status Muslim Act of

Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises Essay
Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises
The title and narrative focus of Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises are rooted in a passage
from the Ecclesiastes. In referencing this book of the Hebrew Bible, Hemingway resorts to aged
scripture to unearth steadfast truths. His novel uses old world beliefs to provide a solution for
modern day issues, asserting the undeniable value of tradition. The applicability of the Ecclesiastes
passage to Hemingway s portrait of hopelessness in the post Great War generation demonstrates that
a reconnection with the natural world will reverse the unnatural consequences of a meaningless war
and permit the reestablishment of hope within the following generation.
The historicity and context of Hemingway s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hemingway depicts the expatriates disconnect from the natural world in order to portray this
generation s improbable renewal. After participating in a war which went against the principles of
nature in its needless destruction, the expatriates have lost comprehension of the inherently
human will to desire and consequently accomplish. This cyclical course of completed events is
lacking in the expatriates lives and is replaced by a linear repetition which conveys emptiness.
Through detachment from traditional human passions, the expatriates misunderstand
fundamental laws of nature. Passing a taxidermist in Paris, Bill suggests that Jake purchase a
stuffed dog. He refers to the practice of taxidermy as a simple exchange of values. You give
them money. They give you a stuffed dog (p. 78). Bill exalts a pattern formed by commerce and
artificiality, which replaces the traditional cycle of death and rebirth. He continues to describe a
future purchase of a horse cab stuffed for Christmas (p. 79). The traditional holiday of Christmas,
defined by its generous and genuine gifts, is converted into a mocking showcase of falsely
preserved nature. Hemingway concludes this passage with Bill s assertion, I m a nature writer, (p.
80) an ironic statement which illuminates a lack of knowledge for his field due to a misconception
of the natural cycle. Stuffed animals

Scores of consumers are discussing the two well known reading tablets called the Kindle Fire and
the Nook Tablet. Shoppers are trying to determine which e reader offers the best quality and
features. After conducting an objective study, considerable elements were accurately established in
relation to these products. The Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablethave many similarities; however,
they show noticeable differences within the content, ease of use, battery life, and storage.
The greatest difference between these two products is in relation to content. The Kindle Fire has a

The Kindle Fire offers 8 GB of internal memory. After it is configured, the Kindle Fire is shown
to have 6GB for buyers to maneuver and stage manage as they desire. In addition, the Kindle
Fire provides a handy online tool labeled as Cloud Storage which allows unlimited storing
capabilities to Kindle and Amazon users. In contrast, the Nook Tablet advertises 32 GB of
internal storage but after a full review of the Nook Tablet, only a lone gigabyte is available for
optimal use; the other 12 GB are set aside for content which can only be purchased from Barnes
and Nobles stores (Johnston, 2011). However, the Nook Tablet gains some position for having an
(empty) micro SD card slot available for its users. After weighing up the difference between the
storage within these gadgets (coming in their original form) the Nook Tablet s storage appears to
be somewhat deceptive (Moz, 2011).
In terms of deception the storage wasn t the only feature that misled buyers of the Nook Tablet
and Kindle Fire. After a careful examination of the battery function on either tablet, the battery
life duration for each e reader had to be determined by more than one factor. The Nook Tablet
offers nine full hours of battery use. The Kindle Fire advertises seven and a half hours of battery
life when in reality it provides no more than six full hours (Johnston, 2011). The Kindle Fire s
battery lasts longer only if the user is reading an

Essay about Analysis of The Hunger Artist by Kafka
Analysis of The Hunger Artist by Kafka
Hunger is a term that is often defined as the physical feeling for the need to eat. However, the
Hunger Artist in Kafka s A Hunger Artist places a different, more complex meaning to this word,
making the Hunger Artist s name rather ironic. The hunger of the Hunger Artist is not for food. As
described at the end of the essay, the Hunger Artist states that he was in fact never hungry, he just
never found anything that he liked. So then, what does this man s hunger truly mean? What drives
the Hunger Artist to fast for so long, if he is truly not hungry? The Hunger Artist salivates not for
the food which he is teased with, nor does he even sneak food when he alone. The Hunger Artist

Instead, he would show off for the guards that were supposed to watch him, to make sure he
never ate a single thing, ?He was quite prepared to spend the whole night entirely without sleep
with such watchmen; he was prepared to swap jokes with them, to tell them stories about his
nomadic life and listen to their stories in turn, anything just to keep them awake to be able to
show them again and again that he had nothing to eat in his cage, and that he was fasting like no
one of them could fast.? (Kafka, 256). The Hunger artist was addicted to fame, and made every
attempt to show off his skill.
It seems ironic, however, that when his fans were near him, he would show no effort to interact
with the crowd. No stories, jokes, or anything of the like with which shared with the watchmen.
Instead, he seemed to take the fans for granted, almost treating the fans as if they were weak and
unimportant, ? occasionally even stretching his arm through the bars to let them feel how skinny he
was, but then again withdrawing completely to himself, paying attention to no one.? (Kafka, 256)
The Hunger Artist assumes that the crowd will always be there, witnessing and admiring his
skills, constantly wondering, ?How does he do it?? So, as time goes on, the hunger artist becomes
more and more expecting of his crowd, hungering more and more for the fame and love that his
fans seemed to give. Unfortunately, every star, no

International Relations And Foreign Policy
Introduction Since the beginning of International Relations and foreign policy, especially in the
United States, environmental issues have not been its top priority. this problem has gained much
momentum sense the environmental movements of the sixties and the passing of landmark
pieces of policy. From domestic policy decisions of the Clean Air and Water Acts to the
international ban on CFC s, environmental policy has showed a degree of promise and
precedence. Many critics of past and current mitigation efforts have pointed out that our current
efforts are much too slow and International Protocols and not lived up to their projections. In
order for climate policy to be successful it must appertain to three distinct criteria; It must be
adopted broadly, have the ability to stay in place indefinitely, and it needs to have incentives to
reduce emissions that make it beneficial for firms and the public sector to invest (McKibbin 2006,
9). According to some it will be motivation, not feasibility as to the deciding factor of whether or
not we are successful in mitigating and adapting to climate change(Jamieson 2013, 466).
With an overwhelming number of scientists in agreement that climate change is anthropogenically
caused and something needs to be done about it to reduce harmful impacts. Climate change research
has removed itself from being a scientific and factual question and has evolved into a political one.
There has been transnational agreements from the Kyoto Protocol to

The Rising Costs Of Higher Education
There is no doubt that pricing of higher education has increased, changing the number and groups
of people that are able to receive it, often being those with a high socioeconomic status. The rising
costs of many colleges cause many people to wonder whether or not a pricier education really
results in a better life (including better/more job opportunities in the area studied). As a result, many
prospective American students are examining alternatives in hopes of reducing their debt load. One
of the ways in which they are attempting to do so is by pursuing a degree from an institution in
another country. The trends within education has changed a lot, increasing prices, and increasing
demand. There is much controversy over whether or not students seeking further education should
increase their debt load from a tens of thousands of dollars, to hundreds, for a well known college
name and degree. Post World War II, schools in America during the 1950s were suffering with
teacher and building shortages due to increased enrollment. With increasing demand, that also
meant that there were more things that could be influenced, especially by the government. In the
1960s, the shortage continued, including a lot of desegregation with both K 12 schools, and
colleges. The call for more schools resulted in the opening of community colleges; institutions that
are primarily focused on students from a particular area, often associated with a lower price tag

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Comparison Essay
I d Die for You
Haeun Ro
The changes people experience over time can range from minor differences to drastic alterations in
their personality. Even complete transformations can sometimes be hard to notice, as they may
happen subtly and gradually. One of the most interesting elements of novels is how a character
matures and develops over time, the way an individual would in reality. Randle McMurphy, the
hero figure of One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, started out as a light hearted rebel
who challenged authority for entertainment, then became a martyr, eventually dying for the patients
of the ward. This character development is integral to the plot, as it is what actually drives the story
forward into its climax and conclusion. Milos Forman, the director of the film adaptation of the
book, was unsuccessful in portraying this vital element of the novel. McMurphy acted consistently
until the ending, when he behaved abruptly and unexpectedly differently. This not only confused
the viewers of the movie, but also changed the true meaning behind his actions. Randle McMurphy
s shift in personality advanced the plot because it created the main conflict of the novel. The
downtrodden patients of the hospital ward were too afraid to rise against the oppressive and power
hungry Nurse Ratched, but from the very beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Nicholson and Forman made small attempts to depict the growth of his character, they
were too minimal, insignificant, and late in the film, to make a large impact on the viewers. It

a hero, but as a person. He was willing to die for a cause, and for his friends. After all, martyrs

Raskolnikov As A Good Man Essay

AP Lit Period 5
14 October 2015 Guilt Raskolnikov lives an ordinary life as an ordinary man. He is a good man
and has a good heart, but he soon commits a crime that will forever change his life. Raskolnikov
is a good man; I believe he is kind, generous, and selfless. Now, how are all of these positive traits
found in a murderer? I think was caught in a psychotic moment, his mental state was not all
there, and he had a dream, he made a plan, and he committed this terrible crime. A good example
of Raskolnikov being a kind hearted person, and selfless is when he sees a young girl at the end
of the street, he sees by her a rough looking man staring at her. He starts to get very worried what
this man might do to this young girl. He goes down the street to get this young girl, and he pays
for a taxi to get her home. This was so generous, and small yet so impactful. Raskolnikov cared
about what might happen to this young girl, and did something about it. This showed how selfless
Raskolnikov is, and what a kind heart he has. I think this shows Raskolnikov s true character. From
here, he makes some terrible decisions, and is engulfed by guilt, but I believe he is a generous,
kindhearted person. In this book, Crime And Punishment, Raskolnikov goes from being an ordinary
man with an ordinary life to a murderer, tortured by guilt, haunted by the memory of his crime, and
him finding himself again in society after the murders. Raskolnikov soon

Ross Cemetery Path Short Story
A wise man once said to not let your fears control your decisions. This accurately represents a

protagonist is dealt with a challenge by the lieutenant for gold. Story element, stylistic devices and
literary devices are just three basic tools Leonard uses to communicate the message Don t let fear

Ivan developed through his actions, while lieutenant seemed to be the same showing Ivan is
dynamic and the lieutenant was static. Ivan seemed to be a shy innocent man being picked on
until he says yes to lieutenant, this is when he send like a man who never backs down a
challenge. He decided to go on the challenge to change what people think about him. It seems like
Ivan hopes to change people s mind by doing this challenge. The narrator says Ivan was a timid

enhance the distribution transparency that is missing in network operating systems. In other words,
middleware aims at improving the single system view that a distributed system should have. 2. Q:

If the microkernel has networking capabilities, there is also no principal objection in placing
those servers on remote machines (which run the same microkernel). 13. Q: Explain the principal
operation of a page based distributed shared memory system. A: Page based DSM makes use of
the virtual memory capabilities of an operating system. Whenever an application addresses a
memory location that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault
occurs, giving the operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred
page, transfer its content over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the
application can continue. PROBLEM SOLUTIONS FOR CHAPTER 1 3 14. Q: What is the
reason for developing distributed shared memory systems? What do you see as the main problem
hindering efficient implementations? A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed
programs based on message passing primitives is much harder than being able to use shared
memory for communication. Efficiency of DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what
you do, page transfers across the network need to take place. If pages are shared by different
processors, it is quite easy to get into a state similar to thrashing in virtual memory systems. In the
end, DSM systems can never be faster than message passing solutions, and will generally be

Comparison Of Ethos And Pathos In Advertising
In today s age, advertisements are found in almost every situation. These advertisements are found
in a multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the
television. Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the
message they are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathosis the
emotional appealof an advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper
will show the similarities and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate
Budweiser advertisements.
Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker
or writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as
well as for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age
of Greece, and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize
rhetoric to their fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that
rhetoricians those who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly
(Clark, 2016). Rhetoric certainly did not die out with the passing of time and is still found in today
s modern era.
Of these three appeals, pathos is the most prevalent in both advertisements. An inherent form of
pathos in the Budweiser commercial was the relationship between a puppy and

Fear Of Crime Research Paper
Fear of crime among college students has been examined, throughout various researches in every
measure. Men and women both have different outlooks on the way their fear is determined.
Woman usually are stalked more by people that they know or usually are harassed, while men are
afraid of the lack of protection that they tend to have or therefore not fear but the ability to try and
stay strong. The problem is the fact that fears cannot be determined or corrected for that matter. In
this study undergraduates from Virginia State Universitytook a survey to measure their perception
and fear of crime. Some students may feel like they are protected by campus policeon and around
campus but most will not be able to trust in campus police. The... Show more content on

They have been trying to understand how students perceive campus safety, their fears of crime
and how they look to continue to be safe. The way students look at safety determines if their fear
of crime comes from the environment or if it comes from personal fear. They started focusing on
gender differences and how males and females feel about their safety at their schools. According
to one of the articles that was found researchers (Jackson, Veneziano Rigger, 2004) suggested
that development of a policy that screen potential students in an effort to reduce crimes on
campus that included sexual aggression, rape and date rape. It all ties in to harassment as well
because you are harassing students when they are minding their business. Harassment comes
into play in a variety of ways not just physical but verbal and mentally as well. Harassment is a
tool to maintain the status quo of social hierarchy (Iohnson, 2000). Now, when it comes down to
it, gender differences play a role in campus safety as well because of that indicates gender does it
the most. Similarly, studies found a relationship between fear and stalking (when perpetrated by
strangers) and physical assault (when perpetrated by an acquaintance) in their sample of female
college students Wilcox et al (2007). The relationship between the two shows that students really
do care about their surroundings and that the fear of being alone and stalked, whether in broad
daylight or at night, takes a toll on students. Most times men tend to whistle, do catcalls, and make
sexual comments and racial slurs towards women. In a study done by Jennings, Gover, and
Pudrzynska (2007) with 997 college students revealed that 22% of respondents had been victims of
at least one type of crime (robbery, sexual assault, assault, theft, burglary, or fraud) on or in the
nearby campus neighborhoods and 46% knew someone

My Experience With Technology
My Experience with Technology I am going to tell you some my experiences with technology
from my past and how it will lead to my future. One of my experiences includes taking a Video
Cassette Recorder (VCR) apart when I was younger. Another is when I built my first computer
and the consequences that followed when I did that. So why did I take VCR player apart when
I was younger? The reason is that I was curious, like boys are at that age, and I wanted to know
how the VCR player worked. Therefore, I did what any other 10 year old boys would do in my
shoes, I found a screwdriver, and I started taking apart the player. Taking it apart was easy, but
putting it back together proved to be a little more difficult than I had originally thought it would
be. I tried hard to put it back together, unfortunately, I didn t to have the required skills at the time
to reassemble the VCR so in the trash it went. This VCR was not the only thing to be taken apart
and not reassembled. I must have taken apart a least half of a dozens of them in addition to a
DVD player or two. I took apart pretty much anything that was not bolted to the floor. To be fair,
most of them were broken and were junk anyways, so me taking them apart didn t mean I was out
of control or anything. My parents saw it was a learning experience. My grandfather, on the other
hand, told me when I was not allowed to touch any electronic devices in his house with a
screwdriver, which I obeyed, most of the time.

Summary Of Los Vendidos
Discrimination against Mexican Americans has always been a grave issue in the United States.
The short play Los Vendidos written by Luis Valdez sheds light upon the horrid state of racism in
our nation. The play centers around the Secretary s visit to Honest Sancho s shop and depicts
outrageous images of Mexican Americans as mere objects. Through this play, Valdez attempts to
delineate the discrimination and prejudices against his people. To deliver his perspective, he
employs a principle known as actos which he defines actos as to [i]nspire the audience to social

Disgust is properly the only word to depict their conversation. Hence, the author successfully
employs actos to display the disgusting discrimination that Mexicans endure. Honest Sancho and
Secretary are interesting characters. However, Valdez cleverly embeds significant details in the
models to illuminate specific points about social problems . The Farmworker is the first model .
According to the script, he wears 4 ply Goodyear huaraches and sleeps in farm labor camps ... old
barns, old cars, riverbanks ... [or] in the field (43). The Farmworker represents Mexican migrant
workers. From this character, Valdez shows the horrid living conditions of migrant workers. Hence,
the author attempts to raise the issue to the audience and the general population so that they are
aware of the inhumane treatment toward migrant workers. Furthermore, despite being a
hardworking person, the Farmworker is rejected because he does not speak English. Thus, Johnny
Pachuco is brought to sale. For Johnny, an urban model (44), is bilingual. Nevertheless, he is a
thug. As Honest Sancho introduces, he knife fights (44) and he steals (46). Valdez presents this
young man based on a typical stereotype of Mexican young males which is that they are usually in
criminal gangs. With this character, Valdez implies his desire to bring the drug problem and
criminal problems within the Mexican communities to light. The third model is the Revolucionario,

What Are The Negative Effects Of Thatcher Policy
Negative Effects of Thatcher s Policies to Britain
Introduction
Margret Thatcher was the Prime Minister in the United Kingdom between 1979 to 1990. Although
other people may be of the opinion that her policy reforms were of good intents to Britain, a critical
analysis from a neutral viewpoint may reveal the opposite. As Goodwin puts it, Thatcher`s policies
towards the European integration were pragmatic in practice, but aggressive in tone . The policies
were characterized by public articulation that was thought to be of best interests to the United
Kingdom. Generally, Thatcher`s policies were implemented after the claim that they would
promote small states, free markets, privatization, cut taxes and lower inflation2. However, a more
indepth analysis can reveal how the policies resulted in mass unemployment, social housing crisis,
privatization, reduced powers of trade unions, poverty and inequality and poll tax. As it will be
shown by the evidence presented herein, Thatcher s policies did more damage than good to the
interests of Britain. The following are the various negative consequences that resulted from the
implementation of Thatcher s policies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one of her speeches, Thatcher said that inflation was caused by government and was the key
factor that discouraged saving and investments2. She therefore intended to control inflation by
applying a deflationary approach which involved increasing interest rates, implementation of
income policy and increasing value added tax. Increase in interest rates was bound to lower
economic activity and thus control inflation. However, as it turned out, the move led to the closure
of many British Manufacturing Industries which caused a loss of millions of jobs. Additionally, the
manufacturing output was lowered by 30%, leading to reductions in manufacturing base and made

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Multicarrier Transmission
3.1 Introduction Multicarrier transmission, also known as OFDM is a technique with a long
history back to 1960that has recently seen rising popularity in wireless and wire line. In the recent
interest in this technique is mainly due to the recent advances in digital signal processing
technology. The International standards making use of OFDM for high speed wireless
communications are already established or being established by IEEE 802.11, IEEE, 802.16, IEEE
802.20 and ETSIBRAN committees. For wireless applications, an OFDM based system can be of
interest because it provides greater immunity to multipath fading, and impulse noise, in eliminates
the need for equalizers, efficient hardware implementation can be realized using FFT techniques....

The OFDM makes single frequency networks possible, which is especially attractive for
broadcasting applications. 3.1.2 Disadvantages of OFDM Transmission: In the OFDM is more
sensitive to frequency offset and phase noise. In OFDM has a relatively large peak to average
power ratio, which tends to reduce the power efficiency of the radio frequency (RF) amplifier.
3.1.3 Application of OFDM During the past decade, OFDM has been adopted in many wireless
communication standards networks, including European digital audio broadcasting system, and
terrestrial digital video broadcasting, and satellite terrestrial interactive multiservice infrastructure
in China. In addition, OFDM has been considered or approved by many groups are working in
IEEE standard, such as IEEE 802.11a/g/n standard network, IEEE 802.15.3a, and IEEE 802.16d/e.
The applications include wireless local area networks, wireless personal area networks and wireless
metropolitan networks. Currently, OFDMA is being investigated as one of the most promising
radio transmission techniques for LTE of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP),

The Internet Protocol
The internet was invented around the early 1960s with the research of Packet switching. What they
called ARPANET led to the development of the internetworking, where multiple networks could be
joined together over to create a network of networks. IP defined by RFC791 was the first widely
used versions of the internetprotocol. This was known as version four, this would make you think
that there were three other versions of IP before this version however, there really was not. IPv4was
originally designed for an internetwork, a fraction of what the size of the internet is today. IPv4
has served its purpose very well, however with the growth of the internet it was just a matter of
time before they would need to create a new version of IP. The development of a new version IP
would began in the mid 1990s. The new version of IP is known as Internet Protocol version Six
(IPv6) or sometimes called IP next generation or IPng. One of the biggest questions that came
about when the announcement of IPv6 was what Happened to IPv5. The answer is: it doesn t
exist. While this may seem confusing, version 5 was in fact intentionally skipped to avoid
confusion, or at least to rectify it. (Tcpipguide.com, 2014) If you consider just how much the
internet has grown over the years you will notice that IPv4 has done its job very well, however
as discussed it has been apparent for many years now that the limitation of IPv4 would be reached.
This is where IPv6 comes into play. IP play such a

interconnected through contract shareholding or as Dine says, By interlocking dictatorships. In
these structure holding companies usually have control and influence over subsidiaries. Limited
liability on the other hand, is the logical consequence of the existence of a separate legal entity or
generally, the concept simply means that since the company is different from the shareholders, the
members are only liable for the amount unpaid or their shares and not for the debts of the

lines of business for the purpose of obtaining credit. This allows companies to extend their business
gambles to other legal forms largely other companies in different degrees and forms through share
buyouts or incorporation of subsidiaries. Secondly, limited liability minimizes risks for the
investors: Since modern governments want to see enterprise flourish, they attach great value to
business. However because business involves potential risks, limited liability comes in as a
motivation in case of failure and potentially attracts as many people into business through becoming
a contracting tool and financing device and investors are certain that their personal assets are safe
as the rule is kind of security. Furthermore, limited liability increases the value of assets: When
creditors know the subsidiary they are dealing with, it allows specific stakeholders to closely
monitor where their interests are most vested. It brings about accountability, transparency and

Identity Crisis And An External Driving Force, By David Peck
Self acceptance may be one quality that some individuals cannot obtain. In literature, the
protagonist often struggles to accept their true identity. Characters struggle to either accept
themselves or be accepted by others in the literary work. The search for identity or struggle for
acceptance can be driven by multiple outside forces. Searching for identityis prominent not only in
literature, but also in the real world. An article written by David Peck explains the relationship

Background Of The Problem Of Opium
Background of the Problem
Opium is one of the key ingredients that is required when making Heroin. Once the milky fluid
has been cut from the poppy seed, it is then scraped off and set to air dry, producing what we know
today as opium. The opium is then vigorously stirred in with a calcium solution and hot water and
then is supposed to settle for a few hours. Once the opium has been settled, the top which contains
the morphine is extracted from the rest of the liquid. The morphine residue is then dried which
results in a brown morphine base. A chemical solution can be added at this time in addition with
heat until the solution turns black. When cooled down and quenched with water, the impurities of
the substance are removed. In a separate container, sodium carbonate is dissolved in water, then
added to the morphine base solution to create a Heroin based solution. However, on the streets of
Dayton, to make more of a profit off a cheaper substance, it is mostly sold by gel caps which are
not as high quality. This results in unnatural substances and chemicals being included in the cheap
heroin product, creating a major reason why addicts are dying from the drug.
Records show that within Montgomery County the number of heroin overdose has significantly
increased over time. Society is taking a destructive approach by punishing those who abuse drugs
like heroin rather than treating the addiction as a disease that is needing to be cured. The improper

Angiotensin Research Paper
Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors also known as ACE inhibitors that are commonly
used to decrease blood pressure. ACE inhibitors block the production of angiotensin I to
angiotensin II which then decrease the levels of angiotensin II and elevated levels of
bradykinin. ACE drugs are also used to treat heart failure, diabetic nephropathy, and MI. The
blockage of angiotensin I to angiotensin II can produce vasodilation, decrease blood volume,
decrease cardiac and vascular remodeling, potassium retention and fetal injury which are all
possible side effects for ACE. A big thing to note about ACE it that it should not be given to
women who are of childbearing age due to the risk for fetal injury, especially if they are in their
second or third trimester of pregnancy. Since ACE inhibitors can increase bradykinin levels they

The Theme Of Education In The Film Waiting For Superman
In the American public school system students are failing and society is doing nothing but taking a
blind eye to the injustice. In the film, Waiting For Superman, director, Davis Guggenheim,
investigates the various ways these schools are producing failing students in the United States. By
following the stories of five children throughout the documentary we, the viewers, begin to take
notice of the corrupt public schoolsystem as the children experience the inequalities of a low
income school first hand. Guggenheim uses audio and pop up animations to effectively argue his
claim and motivate the audience to change the way public schools are being operated.
The audio in this film plays a huge role in how the audience perceives the information they are
obtaining. Whether it is a lack of sound, or an upbeat song it creates an atmosphere or tone for that
segment of the movie. Throughout the film aside from the statistics and the lives of the children
being shown, Guggenheim incorporates clips from old tv shows, presidential speeches and more.
When these clips are being viewed an energetic and quick song is being played. The information
presented in these clips happens to be statements about how the president s believe they want to be
the education president or the clips express happy faces of children learning and smiling teachers.

Comparison of Hofffman’s work, The Sandman, and
Mosse’s,...
Hofffman s work, The Sandman, and Mosse s, From Romanticism to the Volk, share cohesive
concepts, each examine the dramatic cultural shift toward promoting nationalist thought in the
minds of the German people. Through the rootlessness of his characters, the cognitive disparity
between Nathanael and Klara, and the structure of The Sandman, Hoffman aptly uses the folktale
genre to effectively reveal his disdain for the tenets of enlightenment as they challenged the new
Volk ideology of Germany. Mosse s scholarly analysis critically examined this same shift and
sought to clarify how the groundwork laid for the return to Germanic roots, exemplified in the Volk
neo romantic movement, came as a direct reaction to the industrial revolution. In The Sandman, we
are introduced to the character Coppelius, who quickly becomes the root of all evil in the
protagonist, Nathanael s life (pun intended). From the Volk perspective, it becomes apparent that
Coppelius malevolent traits are due to his lack of allegiance to Germanic cultural identity.
Nathanael suspects that Coppelius is not a true German , which was problematic in the German
Volk conceptualization of an idyllic state (47). Mosse explained: need to block quote The term

Federal Tax And Federal Income Tax
To most, the term federal income tax is just paying the government or money they don t get. But in
government and the world of finance, it is major and involved idea which involves a great deal of
focus and discussion. The United States federal income tax is a complex system which is a
necessary function of the government. A taxable amount is determined on income, and it creates
taxation for the government to accumulate money. There are many factors that play into the
complexity of the system which developed the processes of the federal income taxtoday.
Understanding this financial system requires a level of insight into the layers of information
that the federal income tax entails. Taxation in America has always been a huge factor of
societal and governmental focus. The nation started with a hatred for taxes dating back to the
tax burden placed on the American colonies by Great Britain. Early in its history, America had
few very few taxes. However, it became the major source of revenue for the United States
government. The War of 1812 created a higher need for taxation, and initiated the nation s first
sales taxes which were placed on gold, silverware, jewelry, and watches. But in 1817 the internal
taxes were repealed, and the government relied on tariffs on imported goods for funds. Once
again, the onset of war generated a necessity of greater revenue, and in 1862, during the civil war,
the nation s first income tax was enacted. This income tax was the foundation to

do things that I would never want my parents to know about. I noticed that no matter who I was
around I found it hard to just be myself and the fact that I have been unconsciously doing it all
this time made me think of what it would be like if I was just myself or different from what
everybody thinks of me. Unfortunately, I never could bring up the courage to be different, so I
started to change some of the little things that I did around my friends. I began to lose the
interest of my friends and they didn t invite me to as many things or call me to go hang out.
Surprisingly, I was ok with it. Changing the way that I acted with my friends made me realize
that they were never really my friends. They just accepted me because I wore cool clothes and
talked about the stuff that was important to the group. I know now that they are all just
acquaintances that I have had some fun times with. As Doris Lessing says in her essay, When
we re in a group mind, we tend to think as that group does. It is the hardest thing in the world to
maintain an individual dissent opinion as a member of a group. The world is filled with group
minds, not only in people but in societies as well. If the majority of a society takes a stance on a
subject the rest that don t actually agree in their mind will unconsciously conform to the group
mind and agree. The group mind is very

Travel Business Franchise and Market Structure
My franchise operates in a markets characterized by a state of the monopolistic competition.
Results! Travel competes in the travel business, helping customers sort out their travel options
and booking travel for them. In this market, there are numerous competitors, but each tailors its
service slightly differently. There are low barriers to entry, and all firms are in business to
maximize profit. Lastly, firms in this market are typically not price takers, because they have the
ability to reach consumers (Investopedia, 2012). These are the four basic characteristics of firms
in monopolistic competition, and that therefore is the type of market structure faced by Results.
There are a wide range of competitors in this market. Some firms also do travel planning, and this
segment of the industry is highly fragmented. There are some chains still in the business and
there are also a large number of independent operators. Some of the customer segments include
vacationers and corporations. A lot of competition in this industry has migrated to the Internet.
Results competes against do it yourself travel planning websites like Expedia or Hotwire, in
addition to new startups that seek out different markets as a result of the highly heterogeneous
nature of the industry (Gannes, 2010). There are a couple of ways for my firm to increase its
market power. The first is by offering lower prices. Consumers in this segment are often price
sensitive, so lower prices will entice new

The Metropolitan Area And The Suburban Area
This We Believe Critique
In education, the experience of being in middle school can be difficult for many students. Similar to
most years, students receive new teachers and the have a curriculum that is different. The middle
school years are more than just learning. The students also are starting to go through puberty and
are learning about their own individuals. For most students, they do not understand the changes
they are going through both physically and mentally. In This We Believe: Keys to Educating Young
Adolescents, one can see research that shows how this is a crucial time for middle schools, and
how teachers can effectively guide their students through this time.
Discussion
Differences of the Metropolitan Area and the Suburban Area Teaching in an urban setting is
different from teaching in a suburban setting. Students are already unique but these two different
types of communities have different experiences altogether. Three of the most important concepts
discussed in the document for an urban setting are, the school being an inviting and safe
environment, organizational structure for purposeful learning and relationships, and the use of
active learning. Suburban areas are a little different from urban areas. In the suburban areas that
most relevant concepts to their learning are shared vision, challenging curriculum, and family
involvement.
The urban area has many different areas some being a good area while others might be a bad area.
This is why students

Flight 800 Research Papers
We all get a little scared when we step on to a plane. All we want is to get from destination to the
other without any complications. Four hundred and and sixty nine people probably wanted the
same thing. In 1996 twohundred and thirty people died on a flight that exploded a few minutes
after taking off. In 2014 twohundred and thirtynine are presumed dead on a flight that is still
missing to this day. So the question is what really happened to these flights? In 1996 Trans World
Airlines flight 800 was in route Rome with a stopover in Paris, when it exploded only twelve
minutes after take off. The accident report states that the cause of the explosion was from the center

An air traffic controler shares what he saw on that day in 1996 I thought it was a landing light,
but then it headed straight for the plan, and then the plane blew. (Nita Hiltner). James Sanders,
the author of the The Downing Of TWA flight 800, has spent the last 18 years investigating this
event, he recently announced that the flight was brought down accidentally by two missiles
fired from a Navy Vessel and/or submarine that were in the area to intercept a smaller plane
involved in a plot to bring down the commercial flight . A cover up by the FBI and the NTSB
(National Transportation Safety Board) was extensive, involving intimidation of witnesses and
investigators, tampering with evidence, false testimony before Congress, censoring reports, and
numerous violations of protocols. Some of the government s own official investigators said that
the explosions occurred outside the airplane. They were permitted to testify with that evidence. A
piece of metal from a destroyed or missing plane can tell a big story. Early last year detectives
were brought to the attention of a piece of scrap washed up on the Reunion Island in early July.

The Pros And Cons Of Tenure
Tenure: the Good, the Bad, the Who Cares Governor Scott walker proposed a state budget in 2015
that cut almost 300 million dollars from higher education and more controversially took tenure out
of the protection of state law (Flaherty, 2015). The Joint Finance Committee, with a vote of 12 4,
cut tenure protection for universityfaculty from state stature (Flaherty, 2015). After the vote in the
Joint Finance Committee many faculty members protested and we vocal about the University of
Wisconsin needing to pass eternal policy to protect faculty who have been tenured and to grant
tenureto future faculty at the same protection level of the state stature (Flaherty, 2015). May state
officials however feel that releasing tenure from the protection of state stature will allow
universities more flexibility when dealing with the budget cuts (Flaherty, 2015).
The exact history and start of tenure in academia is often debated between scholars and historians.
For the purpose of this paper I will view tenure only from the United States perspective and the
scope of tenure will start with the 1940 Fundamental policy statement created by the Committee on
Academic Freedom and Academic Tenure that is part of the Association of University Professors.

Essay On Drug Addiction
When a person has a drug addiction, they have a disease that has the ability to affect and hurt the
entire family. Everyone in the addict s immediate family is affected in one way or another.
Addiction impacts a family s finances, physical health as well as psychological wellbeing. It can
also cause tension, miscommunication, and more frequent arguments within a household which in
turn creates an unhealthy environment for everyone involved. The addict can be very
unpredictable which can cause anxiety, emotional pain, stress, and a loss of trust because that
person cannot be counted on to follow through with what they say. Frequently, the people who are
addicted don t even realize or believe they are causing these problems within their families. And
unfortunately, they don t view themselves as sick or suffering from a problem, so they don t reach
out for help. When the person finally realizes they may have a problem, they believe the solution is
to escape and run away from their addiction.
In Sonny s Blues, Sonny tells his brother I couldn t tell you when Mama died but the reason I
wanted to leave Harlem so bad was to get away from drugs. And then, when I ran away, that s
what I was running from really. (218) At this point, Sonny is telling his brother he was willing to
leave his family behind to run away from his addiction. But it also shows how misguided he was,
or rather all drug addicts, to think he could just run away from the drugs. Because in the end, he

Dissociative Identity Disorder In Fight Club
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), formerly known as Multi Personality Disorder, occurs
when an individual experiences a loss or discontinuity in memory, identity, or consciousness
(Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nook, 2014). Psychologist believe DID occurs in individuals who
suffered an extremely traumatic situation at a young age as well as a way for overwhelmed
individuals to escape their reality(Briere, Dietrich, Semple, 2016). Portrayed in the 1999 hit,
Fight Club, directed by David Fincher, the story follows the protagonist also known as the
narrator and views the complexity of the disorder in an intriguing way. According to Schacter,
the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders characterizes Dissociative Identity
Disorders as a discontinuity or disruptions that allow for the loss of consciousness (Schacter,
Gilbert, Wegner, Nook, 2014). The film follows the life of a man at first identified as the
narrator. Played by Edward Norton, audiences observe a man who possesses serious internal
struggles. Diagnosed with insomnia, the narrator struggles to sleep and becomes so
uncomfortable he seeks medical help. Because there is no prescription that could aid the
narrator, the doctor suggests he go to a support group for people who struggle as well. By going
to a testicular cancer support group, the narrator finds comfort to help him sleep. Viewers

PRINCIPLES OF SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTION IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
Within the care sector there are many individuals who rely and depend on the help and support
of others such as nurses, social workers and support workers. When this level of trust and
responsibility exists it is important that these individuals are able to feel safe and confident and
not at risk to abuse. It is therefore our responsibility as carers to ensure there are safeguarding
procedures in place to protect all individuals from any form of abuse at all times. In order to

likely to arise as staff may be unable to cover the work load depriving individuals of care or
support. It is also essential to maintain high levels of staff communication to ensure information
such as medicinal requirements or hygiene routines are carried out, particularly with individuals
who may have communication difficulties or are non verbal. If an individual is displaying
signs of poor hygiene, dirty clothes or other visual indications that they are not being properly
supported it is important to investigate why and ensure this is not due to staff negligence.

towards a person s beliefs, race, sexuality, gender, disability, age etc. This is a very personal form
of abuse and can be avoided by staff working as a team and being aware of any personal

discriminatory manner as this can help identify if abuse is likely to occur again. Some individuals

Media Negatively Affects The Self Esteem And Body Image Of...
The media negatively affects the self esteem and body image of young girls. The media is known
for broadcasting thin models and not taking into consideration the affect that it could have on
millions of young women. When young girls see thin models that they aspire to be on TV
increases their concerns about their bodies and that causes young girls to develop eating disorders,
such as excessive dieting, bulimia and anorexia. It is very vital for every young girlto feel
comfortable in her own skin and not be influenced by what the media portrays. These young women
should not let the media, such as advertisements, cartoons, magazines, movies, and TV shows
define their definition of beauty based on what society says. The media negatively affects young
girl s self esteembecause when they are young they tend to be more gullible to advertisements
shown on TV. They notice the petite, perfect, models and instantly want to become skinnier.
Girls believe the lies on TV s and resort to unhealthy measures to try to shape or fit themselves
into the impossible perfect mold. The goal of being healthy and skinny is no longer a priority,
instead, the main priority is to become the media s self image. The media puts so much pressure
on young girls to look like the perfect image and it has a harmful effect on the self esteem and
body imageof young girls. I think that the media suggests that appearance is more important than
personality. This statement is prime example of how the media

How Is Wisdom Presented In When Siddhartha
Wisdom is not a product of schooling, but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it. These immortal
words were spoken by one of the greatest thinking minds in recent history none other than Albert
Einstein. Many thinkers throughout history have picked up on this discrepancy between
knowledge and wisdom, despite the two words often being used interchangeably in everyday life.
The divide between knowledgeand wisdomis excellently portrayed in the novel Siddhartha written
by Hermann Hesse, in which the main character Siddhartha s journey to find inner peace leads him
through the theme of wisdom and knowledge being obtained differently. In Siddhartha, many
themes are presented, but the one that is the most important both in influencing the story... Show

As he left Gotama, he became filled with determination to stop shying away from the world, and
to embrace it and learn from it instead. Siddhartha felt a type of rebirth at this revelation, seeing
the beauty of the world and all that he has missed out on by focusing on the invisible world. He
says I want to begin my thoughts and my life with Atman and with the suffering of the world.
With that, Siddhartha sets off with a new mission: to live. Along this newfound path toward
wisdom, Siddhartha becomes acquainted with a beautiful female courtesan named Kamala. She
teaches Siddhartha to revel in the pleasures and riches of the world and he is happy, seeing the
appeal of a worldly life for the first time. Many years pass and Siddhartha becomes increasingly
unhappy with his life of riches, feeling as though he has no goals anymore. The novel goes so far
as to say that slowly the disease of the soul, which rich people have, grabbed hold of him.
Siddhartha may have obtained wisdom from the experience, but he became to immersed and lost
sight of the reasons he sought a lavish life in the first place. Through this extended path of
worldliness, Siddhartha began to focus too heavily on gaining the wisdom that comes with the
suffering of the world. He forgot all about the knowledge he had previously obtained, knowledge
that may have guided

  • 2. Essay on Symbolic Meaning of Blood in Macbeth by William... Shakespeare, in his work Macbeth, uses many forms of imagery to grasp the attention of the audience. His particular use of blood imagery is highly prevalent in Macbeth, a play set during the tumultuous 11th century a century filled with unrest and uneasiness (as seen in the unification of Scotland, and the famous Norman conquest of Britain in 1066). Shakespeare s use of blood follows a circular motion; it begins as a representation of honour, and progresses into one of guilt, then evil and finally returns to represent honour. The symbolic use of blood, forms in the opening lines of Macbeth after accepting honour for his bravery in battle. His sword, smoked with bloody execution signifies valiant fighting as a brave soldier, and he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lady Macbeth, unlike her husband, does not show any guilt or sorrow directly after their diabolical act of regicide, until her fevered sleepwalking, where she exposes her guilt using the most blatant example of blood imagery the whole murder, in detail. Will these hands never be clean? Here s the smell of blood still. She can no longer feel that water will simply wash away the blood and thus, guilt and it is this thought that drives her to suicide. Imagery should evoke all senses in the audience or reader. It is for this reason that Shakespeare uses blood imagery in Macbeth. Using this method, Shakespeare reveals the transformation of the tragedy s main characters and evokes varying emotional responses from the audience. This imagery also intensifies the excitement and enhances the treachery of the crimes. The blood imagery in Macbeth is significant for several reasons. Primarily, it signifies that the essence of the victims life has left; and, as such, it symbolizes the loss of true humanness in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, who share responsibility for the murders. For, in shedding the blood of the god like Duncan and the good Banquo, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become stained with the sin of their bloody deeds. Finally, with so much imagery of blood, the horror of Macbeth s heinous deeds leaves a lasting effect upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dependency on Technology in a Modern World Dependency on Technology in a Modern World Introduction Technology has virtually defined the human condition since the early stages in the species evolution. First there were rudimentary tools such as arrows and hammering utensils which allowed humans a far great range in manipulating their environment. Further developments such as fire, clothing, and shelter and so on changed the way humans lived and every aspect of their lives. Today s societies have more advanced tools such as a laptop, IPod, GPS, cell phone, a seemingly infinite number of other gizmos and gadgets that shape their lives. This essay will question whether these devices will add to our wellbeing and improve our lives or if the development of technology has hit a threshold point in which further developments are of little practical value or even of negative consequence. Communications Of all the advancements in technology from its inception, the advancement in communication has to be one of the most revolutionary forces that have come about. People now can communicate with nearly anyone else in the world for very little cost and instantaneously through a variety of mediums. People are free to move around the globe and never lose contact with the people that they care about. Students can live video chat with other student half way around the world and can even form interactive classrooms with a wide range of participants. Professors can record a lecture that can be hosted on a site for anyone to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Researchers believed that different kind of shark has different kind of characteristics and behaviours. There are so many species of sharks in the oceans around the world. Some of them are big in size while others can be quite small and some of them are to be feared while some others just minding their own business. It is surprised to know that some of the largest species of sharks in the ocean are the nicest ones to encounter. Great White Shark is the biggest of all the deadliest and dangerous sharks. It is also the most popular shark among the people as it always appears in movies and documentaries. These kinds of sharks are torpedo shaped, knife like tails and a pair of fins. There have been reports of the Great Whites weighing in at over 7000 lbs and exceed 20 feet in length. Male and female great white sharks grow at different rates as the males become adults in about nine years while the female great white sharks grow larger than males and they took about 13 to 15 years to be adults. Actually the Great White Shark has a white pearl colour on its belly and the top of its body is actually a gray or blue in colour which makes it kind of difficult to see inside the water. With a darkish colour on the back of the shark, it is hard for the other animals to spot them, which makes it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Bees Pollination And Their Importance An Analysis on Bees, Pollination, and Their Importance Abstract: This paper explores the roles of bees in their hives and dissecting their extremely sophisticated colonies, with a focus on how they pollinate and why pollination is detrimental to agriculture. In my research I discuss the causes of their declination, and what kind of preventative actions we can take as inhibitors and consumers to support them. This analysis draws upon primary and secondary sources including online journals. What does our world look like without bees? Less green, and less resourceful in several aspects for sure. Considering the fact that bees are responsible for pollinating several fruits and vegetables, the shelves of our supermarkets would be lacking several... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a few types of roles within each colony that demands different responsibilities from each bee, and not any one position is more onerous than the other. The only bees that are held responsible for pollinating are worker bees and these bees are all females unable to reproduce. They are responsible for cleaning and maintaining a sterile the hive by removing dead bees or larvae which prevent diseases from spreading. Worker bees also feed the queen, collect nectar, pollen, and make the wax for the hive. The responsibilities of drone bees are significantly less demanding because the only purpose is to mate with the queen, and most of them aren t even able to. Eventually these drone bees are kicked out the hive in the fall because of how difficult it is for worker bees to provide for them during the strenuous winter season. Finally, the queen s obligations to the hive is simply to reproduce as she is the only fertile bee in the hive. The queen is unable to provide for herself, but it compensates for the fact that she is able to reproduce up to 2000 eggs per day, which ultimately promotes the sustainability of the hive. Her life expectancy is significantly much longer than the rest of the hive members, which can be up to 4 years, in comparison to 6 8 weeks of a normal bee. Aside from these tasks, there are many other aspects that are specific to bees that truly make them a sophisticated and extremely developed society. For example, fanning is an act that the worker bees perform outside the hive in order to maintain the temperature a constant and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Media Impact On Immigration Quetext About FAQ Contact The topic of immigration has been a focus of controversy throughout the entire international community. Waves of immigration influx in nations have caused surges in nationalist tendencies amongst political leaders and citizens alike. Fears of cultural erosion, resource exhaustion, and economic struggle has shown nations that were once supportive and progressive in their actions towards the acceptance of immigration have moved inward on themselves to protect themselves from a culturally diverse world. The reason to review this document is to question and analyze its attempt to explain and define the growth of nationalism in democratic countries, to be specific the United Kingdom, and how these surges occur, as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the end this document does take a unique approach in showing the extended reach and influence the media has in shaping the outlooks of citizens on the world and society wither the events illustrated directly affect the individual or not. The emphasis on how the media is creating a progressive dilemma through the portrayal of increasing numbers of immigrants into the nation and the threats this influx has on the cultural stability and longevity of the nation explains how the citizens of the nation, wither directly affected by immigration or not, move towards a more protectionist and nationalist state of mind in order to promote the conservation of the nation s ethnic culture. The act of addressing the problems with public opinion when not provided with all of the facts, but only certain facts, does show its colors and makes for a strong topic to be discussed and addressed in further literature due to being only lightly addressed here. Being that the biggest problem with this paper is the fact that there was such a small and focused group of individuals polled, and no others, it would be best that future research into this matter should contain a broader range of data, while still focusing on the central topic of how perceived effects of immigration cause growth in nationalist and ... • 7. Early Marriage Of Girls Negatively Affects Health... Early marriage: Early marriage of girls negatively affects health wellbeing among young women. In Sub Saharan Africa, spiritual appeasement is among key reasons attributed to early marriage. In fact, girls /young women are usually sacrificed to the ancestral spirit world (Sithole, 2007). (40) Mbiti (1999) and Bediako (1997) explain that in African faith practice, females are generally viewed as having a higher connectivity to the spirit world than males. For this reason, female children are the preferred spiritual sacrifices because of their biological ability to reproduce children that will promote generational continuity to the ancestral spirits. This notion may explain why a girl child, and not a boy, is traditionally the choice for appeasing the spirits. Whether the motive to encourage early marriage is cultural or spiritual or anywhere in between, it remains a fact that the practice contributes to reduced health status for women as their bodies are oftren not physiologically ready for childbearing leading to complications at child birth. A report on child and early marriage showed that 38% of young women were married before reaching the age of 18, which make them more likely to stop their education, become more vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse, to death during pregnancy and delivery, to delivering unhealthy children, and would most certainly remain caged in poverty. • 8. Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises Essay Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises The title and narrative focus of Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises are rooted in a passage from the Ecclesiastes. In referencing this book of the Hebrew Bible, Hemingway resorts to aged scripture to unearth steadfast truths. His novel uses old world beliefs to provide a solution for modern day issues, asserting the undeniable value of tradition. The applicability of the Ecclesiastes passage to Hemingway s portrait of hopelessness in the post Great War generation demonstrates that a reconnection with the natural world will reverse the unnatural consequences of a meaningless war and permit the reestablishment of hope within the following generation. The historicity and context of Hemingway s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hemingway depicts the expatriates disconnect from the natural world in order to portray this generation s improbable renewal. After participating in a war which went against the principles of nature in its needless destruction, the expatriates have lost comprehension of the inherently human will to desire and consequently accomplish. This cyclical course of completed events is lacking in the expatriates lives and is replaced by a linear repetition which conveys emptiness. Through detachment from traditional human passions, the expatriates misunderstand fundamental laws of nature. Passing a taxidermist in Paris, Bill suggests that Jake purchase a stuffed dog. He refers to the practice of taxidermy as a simple exchange of values. You give them money. They give you a stuffed dog (p. 78). Bill exalts a pattern formed by commerce and artificiality, which replaces the traditional cycle of death and rebirth. He continues to describe a future purchase of a horse cab stuffed for Christmas (p. 79). The traditional holiday of Christmas, defined by its generous and genuine gifts, is converted into a mocking showcase of falsely preserved nature. Hemingway concludes this passage with Bill s assertion, I m a nature writer, (p. 80) an ironic statement which illuminates a lack of knowledge for his field due to a misconception of the natural cycle. Compare And Contrast Kindle Fire And Nook Tablet Compare and Contrast Lisa Connor COM/155 February 19, 2011 Dana Smith Compare and Contrast Scores of consumers are discussing the two well known reading tablets called the Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet. Shoppers are trying to determine which e reader offers the best quality and features. After conducting an objective study, considerable elements were accurately established in relation to these products. The Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablethave many similarities; however, they show noticeable differences within the content, ease of use, battery life, and storage. The greatest difference between these two products is in relation to content. The Kindle Fire has a generous selection of applications whereas the Nook Tablet s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Kindle Fire offers 8 GB of internal memory. After it is configured, the Kindle Fire is shown to have 6GB for buyers to maneuver and stage manage as they desire. In addition, the Kindle Fire provides a handy online tool labeled as Cloud Storage which allows unlimited storing capabilities to Kindle and Amazon users. In contrast, the Nook Tablet advertises 32 GB of internal storage but after a full review of the Nook Tablet, only a lone gigabyte is available for optimal use; the other 12 GB are set aside for content which can only be purchased from Barnes and Nobles stores (Johnston, 2011). However, the Nook Tablet gains some position for having an (empty) micro SD card slot available for its users. After weighing up the difference between the storage within these gadgets (coming in their original form) the Nook Tablet s storage appears to be somewhat deceptive (Moz, 2011). In terms of deception the storage wasn t the only feature that misled buyers of the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire. After a careful examination of the battery function on either tablet, the battery life duration for each e reader had to be determined by more than one factor. The Nook Tablet offers nine full hours of battery use. The Kindle Fire advertises seven and a half hours of battery life when in reality it provides no more than six full hours (Johnston, 2011). The Kindle Fire s battery lasts longer only if the user is reading an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the Hunger Artist in Kafka s A Hunger Artist places a different, more complex meaning to this word, making the Hunger Artist s name rather ironic. The hunger of the Hunger Artist is not for food. As described at the end of the essay, the Hunger Artist states that he was in fact never hungry, he just never found anything that he liked. So then, what does this man s hunger truly mean? What drives the Hunger Artist to fast for so long, if he is truly not hungry? The Hunger Artist salivates not for the food which he is teased with, nor does he even sneak food when he alone. The Hunger Artist has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead, he would show off for the guards that were supposed to watch him, to make sure he never ate a single thing, ?He was quite prepared to spend the whole night entirely without sleep with such watchmen; he was prepared to swap jokes with them, to tell them stories about his nomadic life and listen to their stories in turn, anything just to keep them awake to be able to show them again and again that he had nothing to eat in his cage, and that he was fasting like no one of them could fast.? (Kafka, 256). The Hunger artist was addicted to fame, and made every attempt to show off his skill. It seems ironic, however, that when his fans were near him, he would show no effort to interact with the crowd. No stories, jokes, or anything of the like with which shared with the watchmen. Instead, he seemed to take the fans for granted, almost treating the fans as if they were weak and unimportant, ? occasionally even stretching his arm through the bars to let them feel how skinny he was, but then again withdrawing completely to himself, paying attention to no one.? (Kafka, 256) The Hunger Artist assumes that the crowd will always be there, witnessing and admiring his skills, constantly wondering, ?How does he do it?? In order for climate policy to be successful it must appertain to three distinct criteria; It must be adopted broadly, have the ability to stay in place indefinitely, and it needs to have incentives to reduce emissions that make it beneficial for firms and the public sector to invest (McKibbin 2006, 9). According to some it will be motivation, not feasibility as to the deciding factor of whether or not we are successful in mitigating and adapting to climate change(Jamieson 2013, 466). With an overwhelming number of scientists in agreement that climate change is anthropogenically caused and something needs to be done about it to reduce harmful impacts. Climate change research has removed itself from being a scientific and factual question and has evolved into a political one. There has been transnational agreements from the Kyoto Protocol to ... • 13. The Rising Costs Of Higher Education There is no doubt that pricing of higher education has increased, changing the number and groups of people that are able to receive it, often being those with a high socioeconomic status. The rising costs of many colleges cause many people to wonder whether or not a pricier education really results in a better life (including better/more job opportunities in the area studied). As a result, many prospective American students are examining alternatives in hopes of reducing their debt load. One of the ways in which they are attempting to do so is by pursuing a degree from an institution in another country. The trends within education has changed a lot, increasing prices, and increasing demand. There is much controversy over whether or not students seeking further education should increase their debt load from a tens of thousands of dollars, to hundreds, for a well known college name and degree. Post World War II, schools in America during the 1950s were suffering with teacher and building shortages due to increased enrollment. With increasing demand, that also meant that there were more things that could be influenced, especially by the government. In the 1960s, the shortage continued, including a lot of desegregation with both K 12 schools, and colleges. The call for more schools resulted in the opening of community colleges; institutions that are primarily focused on students from a particular area, often associated with a lower price tag than Ivy Leagues or other ... • 14. One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Comparison Essay I d Die for You Haeun Ro The changes people experience over time can range from minor differences to drastic alterations in their personality. Even complete transformations can sometimes be hard to notice, as they may happen subtly and gradually. One of the most interesting elements of novels is how a character matures and develops over time, the way an individual would in reality. Randle McMurphy, the hero figure of One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey, started out as a light hearted rebel who challenged authority for entertainment, then became a martyr, eventually dying for the patients of the ward. This character development is integral to the plot, as it is what actually drives the story forward into its climax and conclusion. Milos Forman, the director of the film adaptation of the book, was unsuccessful in portraying this vital element of the novel. McMurphy acted consistently until the ending, when he behaved abruptly and unexpectedly differently. This not only confused the viewers of the movie, but also changed the true meaning behind his actions. Randle McMurphy s shift in personality advanced the plot because it created the main conflict of the novel. The downtrodden patients of the hospital ward were too afraid to rise against the oppressive and power hungry Nurse Ratched, but from the very beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is a good man and has a good heart, but he soon commits a crime that will forever change his life. Raskolnikov is a good man; I believe he is kind, generous, and selfless. Now, how are all of these positive traits found in a murderer? I think was caught in a psychotic moment, his mental state was not all there, and he had a dream, he made a plan, and he committed this terrible crime. A good example of Raskolnikov being a kind hearted person, and selfless is when he sees a young girl at the end of the street, he sees by her a rough looking man staring at her. He starts to get very worried what this man might do to this young girl. He goes down the street to get this young girl, and he pays for a taxi to get her home. This was so generous, and small yet so impactful. Raskolnikov cared about what might happen to this young girl, and did something about it. This showed how selfless Raskolnikov is, and what a kind heart he has. I think this shows Raskolnikov s true character. From here, he makes some terrible decisions, and is engulfed by guilt, but I believe he is a generous, kindhearted person. In this book, Crime And Punishment, Raskolnikov goes from being an ordinary man with an ordinary life to a murderer, tortured by guilt, haunted by the memory of his crime, and him finding himself again in society after the murders. In the middle of the story the protagonist is dealt with a challenge by the lieutenant for gold. Story element, stylistic devices and literary devices are just three basic tools Leonard uses to communicate the message Don t let fear control you . Ivan seemed to be a shy innocent man being picked on until he says yes to lieutenant, this is when he send like a man who never backs down a challenge. He decided to go on the challenge to change what people think about him. It seems like Ivan hopes to change people s mind by doing this challenge. Ad Ivan passed through the cemetery you hear him repeat a sentence Earth, just earth... like any other earth. this is a allegation and repetition showing he is trying to calm his mind and not get scared. The biggest symbolic reference would be the saber, it is mainly a weapon but a sword or saber is a symbol of purification. This shows Ivan can be holding this saber as sort of a security blanket. Q: Explain the principal operation of a page based distributed shared memory system. A: Page based DSM makes use of the virtual memory capabilities of an operating system. Whenever an application addresses a memory location that is currently not mapped into the current physical memory, a page fault occurs, giving the operating system control. The operating system can then locate the referred page, transfer its content over the network, and map it to physical memory. At that point, the application can continue. PROBLEM SOLUTIONS FOR CHAPTER 1 3 14. Q: What is the reason for developing distributed shared memory systems? What do you see as the main problem hindering efп¬Ѓcient implementations? A: The main reason is that writing parallel and distributed programs based on message passing primitives is much harder than being able to use shared memory for communication. Efп¬Ѓciency of DSM systems is hindered by the fact, no matter what you do, page transfers across the network need to take place. If pages are shared by different processors, it is quite easy to get into a state similar to thrashing in virtual memory systems. These advertisements are found in a multitude of different places, including places such as billboards, newspapers, and on the television. Advertisements are most successful if they incorporate ethos, pathos, and logos into the message they are trying to present. Ethos is the credibility of an advertisement, pathosis the emotional appealof an advertisement, and logos is the logic found in the advertisement. This paper will show the similarities and differences in pathos, logos, and ethos found in two separate Budweiser advertisements. Ethos, pathos, and logos are all rhetorical appeals, meaning that they are used to assist the speaker or writer in harnessing rhetoric. Clark (2016) considers rhetoric as a tool meant for persuasion as well as for creating effective arguments. Rhetoric became extremely popular during the golden age of Greece, and most elite young men in Greek city states such as Athens were trained to utilize rhetoric to their fullest abilities (Clark, 2016). Plato, an ancient Greek philosopher, believed that rhetoricians those who used rhetoric to influence and sway opinions used rhetoric irresponsibly (Clark, 2016). Rhetoric certainly did not die out with the passing of time and is still found in today s modern era. Of these three appeals, pathos is the most prevalent in both advertisements. The problem is the fact that fears cannot be determined or corrected for that matter. The way students look at safety determines if their fear of crime comes from the environment or if it comes from personal fear. They started focusing on gender differences and how males and females feel about their safety at their schools. According to one of the articles that was found researchers (Jackson, Veneziano Rigger, 2004) suggested that development of a policy that screen potential students in an effort to reduce crimes on campus that included sexual aggression, rape and date rape. It all ties in to harassment as well because you are harassing students when they are minding their business. Harassment comes into play in a variety of ways not just physical but verbal and mentally as well. Harassment is a tool to maintain the status quo of social hierarchy (Iohnson, 2000). Now, when it comes down to it, gender differences play a role in campus safety as well because of that indicates gender does it the most. Similarly, studies found a relationship between fear and stalking (when perpetrated by strangers) and physical assault (when perpetrated by an acquaintance) in their sample of female college students Wilcox et al (2007). The relationship between the two shows that students really do care about their surroundings and that the fear of being alone and stalked, whether in broad daylight or at night, takes a toll on students. Most times men tend to whistle, do catcalls, and make sexual comments and racial slurs towards women. In a study done by Jennings, Gover, and Pudrzynska (2007) with 997 college students revealed that 22% of respondents had been victims of at least one type of crime (robbery, sexual assault, assault, theft, burglary, or fraud) on or in the nearby campus neighborhoods and 46% knew someone ... One of my experiences includes taking a Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) apart when I was younger. Another is when I built my first computer and the consequences that followed when I did that. So why did I take VCR player apart when I was younger? The reason is that I was curious, like boys are at that age, and I wanted to know how the VCR player worked. Therefore, I did what any other 10 year old boys would do in my shoes, I found a screwdriver, and I started taking apart the player. Taking it apart was easy, but putting it back together proved to be a little more difficult than I had originally thought it would be. I tried hard to put it back together, unfortunately, I didn t to have the required skills at the time to reassemble the VCR so in the trash it went. As Goodwin puts it, Thatcher`s policies towards the European integration were pragmatic in practice, but aggressive in tone . The policies were characterized by public articulation that was thought to be of best interests to the United Kingdom. Generally, Thatcher`s policies were implemented after the claim that they would promote small states, free markets, privatization, cut taxes and lower inflation2. • 31. Background Of The Problem Of Opium Background of the Problem Opium is one of the key ingredients that is required when making Heroin. Once the milky fluid has been cut from the poppy seed, it is then scraped off and set to air dry, producing what we know today as opium. The opium is then vigorously stirred in with a calcium solution and hot water and then is supposed to settle for a few hours. Once the opium has been settled, the top which contains the morphine is extracted from the rest of the liquid. The morphine residue is then dried which results in a brown morphine base. A chemical solution can be added at this time in addition with heat until the solution turns black. When cooled down and quenched with water, the impurities of the substance are removed. In a separate container, sodium carbonate is dissolved in water, then added to the morphine base solution to create a Heroin based solution. • 33. Angiotensin Research Paper Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitors also known as ACE inhibitors that are commonly used to decrease blood pressure. ACE inhibitors block the production of angiotensin I to angiotensin II which then decrease the levels of angiotensin II and elevated levels of bradykinin. ACE drugs are also used to treat heart failure, diabetic nephropathy, and MI. The blockage of angiotensin I to angiotensin II can produce vasodilation, decrease blood volume, decrease cardiac and vascular remodeling, potassium retention and fetal injury which are all possible side effects for ACE. A big thing to note about ACE it that it should not be given to women who are of childbearing age due to the risk for fetal injury, especially if they are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. Since ACE inhibitors can increase bradykinin levels they potential side effect for that is vasodilation, ACE cough, angioedema. In the film, Waiting For Superman, director, Davis Guggenheim, investigates the various ways these schools are producing failing students in the United States. By following the stories of five children throughout the documentary we, the viewers, begin to take notice of the corrupt public schoolsystem as the children experience the inequalities of a low income school first hand. Guggenheim uses audio and pop up animations to effectively argue his claim and motivate the audience to change the way public schools are being operated. The audio in this film plays a huge role in how the audience perceives the information they are obtaining. Whether it is a lack of sound, or an upbeat song it creates an atmosphere or tone for that segment of the movie. Throughout the film aside from the statistics and the lives of the children being shown, Guggenheim incorporates clips from old tv shows, presidential speeches and more. When these clips are being viewed an energetic and quick song is being played. The information presented in these clips happens to be statements about how the president s believe they want to be the education president or the clips express happy faces of children learning and smiling teachers. Guggenheim presents the fact that up until the 1970 s, American public schools were the best in the world while children are doing experiments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hofffman s work, The Sandman, and Mosse s, From Romanticism to the Volk, share cohesive concepts, each examine the dramatic cultural shift toward promoting nationalist thought in the minds of the German people. Through the rootlessness of his characters, the cognitive disparity between Nathanael and Klara, and the structure of The Sandman, Hoffman aptly uses the folktale genre to effectively reveal his disdain for the tenets of enlightenment as they challenged the new Volk ideology of Germany. Mosse s scholarly analysis critically examined this same shift and sought to clarify how the groundwork laid for the return to Germanic roots, exemplified in the Volk neo romantic movement, came as a direct reaction to the industrial revolution. In The Sandman, we are introduced to the character Coppelius, who quickly becomes the root of all evil in the protagonist, Nathanael s life (pun intended). From the Volk perspective, it becomes apparent that Coppelius malevolent traits are due to his lack of allegiance to Germanic cultural identity. Nathanael suspects that Coppelius is not a true German , which was problematic in the German Volk conceptualization of an idyllic state (47).
