Creon Punished In Antigone
The tragic story of Antigone is written by a Greek author Sophocles. Antigone is the royal nephew of
the king who decides to bury his brother to put his body to rest, but it was a crime done that no one
would consider doing. Although Creon traps Antigone in a cave to her death, Creon is punished by the
consequences in the end, making creon the tragic hero. It began with a war that started to make
everything fall apart for creon. Creon s son was killed in the war by Polyneices, Polyneices also died
in the war but creon would not allow polyneices to be buried because he killed creon s son. This made
Antigone stand up for her brothers rights and bury her brother. Antigone knew if she got caught she
would be put to death. Once Creon finds out

Arguments Between China And Russia
There has been lots of word that Russia and China are joining together to try and rule out the US
dollar and compete against the US. They are doing this so that they can shake up the dominance of the
US dollar. Russia s currency today is called the Russian ruble. It is approximately 60 Russian rubles to
1 US dollar. China s currency is called Yuan, it is approximately 7 Chinese yuan to 1 US dollar. Russia
and China are trading with gold more and more now. They have become great allies, and they have
joined to bypass the US dollar in the global market by shifting to gold trade.
There have been multiple news sources covering this topic. I have chosen ten of these sources to take
a closer look at how each source covers the topic, and to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He told reporters Russia is developing its own payment system known as Karta Mir, and he also said,
it is being discussed whether Karta Mir should be linked to Chinese payments in some way. It also
discusses how Russia began and why they began working on a new payment system. They began the
process because of the fallout that they had with the West and ensuing war in Ukraine in 2014.
Medvedev believes that this new payment system is a great thing and that it would be able to avoid
problems that came up in the American payment systems. Russia is beginning to align its economy
more with China and the Far East. Medvedev says the world needs a balanced system of financial
relations, based on the use of different currencies for different transactions. There should not be a
dominance by any single currency. China at this time is also trying to make its currency of the Yuan to
become a rival to the US dollar. Russia on the other hand is still trying to recover from the financial
crisis in 2014. Third article is What Russia China Relations Mean for the US dollar (cnbc.com).
According to this article the alliance between Russia and China has the potential to undercut the US

Graphic And Violent Video Games Research Paper
Graphic and Violent video games: Companies should strictly rate and monitor their games
By: Talisa Anderson
Graphic and violent video game companies should strictly rate their video games that are being sold.
When teenagers ages 13 18 play these violent video games that include killing, blood and terrorism,
they have less physical activity. The more teenagers that play graphic and violent video games have
more chances to be affected by the violence and mature content. Every time these games are played,
the gamers will react more aggressively and violently toward students at school, siblings and parents.
When violent and graphic video games are strictly rated and monitored the positive outcomes are less
mature content, more physical activity and prevents teens from video game related violence.
Strictly rated and monitored graphic and violent video games will prevent the risk of mature content
from video games influencing teens. Certain games like Doom are made to train US military to shoot
and kill effectively (Shin,2008). Nevertheless, if teenagers varying from 13 18 years old played these

many violent and graphic video game related deaths, why should we authorize any more? Together we
can rate and monitor the graphic and violent video games sales to prevent violence, aggression,
depression and obsession with violent video games. Contact parents, students, teacher to discuss this
issue. We can write letters to our local mayor and even to the prime minister to strictly rate and

Assembly Line Olympics of History
Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost every
country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be required to
be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what they do to get
that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around since ancient times.
On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the more organized labor
becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job groups, food, child care,
and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was
divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the ones overseeing the work and directing
the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more
scholarly subjects. Next down the line were clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants
and traders underneath them who bought and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly
prisoners of war who were forced to work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in
modern day. The social/working pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government
officials, the politicians, the doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class,
and even convicts who work to earn credit or are even forced to work.

Highschool Drug Testing
Drug testing
These are my three reasons why high school athletes should be tested for the enhancement in drugs.
My first statement is how many deaths there was and still are from drugs. My second point of view is
how it can affect you and teammates. This is why we should have drug testing when it comes to
athletes.
According to rasmussen.edu there are roughly 3.2 percent of high school Athletes that have been using
steroids or taken shots with out doctors permission. There was a story in the New York times article
Differing Views on Value of High School Tests that had triggered people s attention. Taylor Hooton a
17 year old lived in Plano, Tex., Had committed suicide in 2003. This was a very shocking moment
Taylor was a baseball player, and was very athletic. It was said that his father was the one who started
the the testing drugs in high school. Nothing was said about his mother as far as I know from my
knowledge is that she was very shocked.
Fox 13 salt lake city reporter Caroline Collonny, had a story on a hockey team that held silence for a
teammate that had past away a year ago by the use of drugs with three friends on a Friday. This was
not a usual case it all happened one night, but this is a prime example if it had not been all one night,

Utilitarianism And The Dehumanization Of The LGBT Community
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that states that the best moral action is the one that produces the
greater amount of utility, or the most positivity. Utilitarianists recognize that the acceptance of
homosexual, bisexual, and trangendered individuals would result in an abundance of positive
outcomes such as: the acceptance of individuals, nondiscriminatory laws, desexualization of same sex
couples, reduced hate crimes, and the humanization of individuals who are humans. Individuals who
are given a platform in our government, society, and media outlets are spreading massive amounts of

Cosplay Imperialism
Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called cosplayers wear
costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a specific fictional character. It is a
unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western
participants to assume identities and to differentiate themselves in ways which western culture cannot.
The average cosplayer is not just putting on a costume; the experience is one of rebirth, an identity
transformation. Daniel s (2010) paper determines whether cosplay is a demonstration of cultural
imperialism of cultural hybridity. Lotecki (2012) and Hale s (2014) paper examines the creative,

Cosplay can increase confidence through social interaction and communication. Modern trends of

Ford Motor Compnay HISTORY
Henry Ford was an engineer from Detroit, Michigan who had an idea. By 1902, Ford had attempted
several times to produce a gas powered vehicle, but with little capital, he realized that his attempts
were futile. Ford approached a man by the name of Alexander T. Malcomson about the possibility of
manufacturing an automobile. Malcomson, a friend of the family and wealthy coal merchant was
reluctant at first but finally agreed with Ford, and decided to assit Ford financially with his endeavor.

The same applies to a dramatic scene where the music may be deep and frantic to convey to the
audience the feeling of anticipation. A scene i would like to focus on is the scene in which Garry and
his father have a final showdown , if you will, at the front of the house. The scene consists of the
father imposing himself on Garry and proceeding to continually beat him down time after time only
for Garry to rise up and face his father on each occasion. This scene evoked a feeling of pride and
admiration from the audience as to Garry s courage and determination to convey the message to his
father that he is ready to stand on his own two feet and defy him. This is a very powerful scene within
the movie which initiated powerful emotions within the audience. All of this was accomplished with
the notable absence of music of any form. The omission of music in this scene created an atmosphere
in which the dramatic affect was amplified due to the silence.
The use of symbolism is clearly evident throughout the film. From the contrast of the colours on the
team s uniform which many believe to be a hidden symbol of unity as such, to the final scene of the
movie which entails Garry and Clarence swimming in the ocean in what appears to be a yin yan
formation. One notable use of symbolism in the film is that of the fruit and nut bar. This symbolises
the fathers role in the family, as something simple as a bar of

the truth of religion.
In the past the study of religion was used both to criticize and to defend a particular religion (usually
Christianity). I do not however aim at providing arguments that a certain religion (e.g. Christianity) or
religion in general is true. I hope, however, that my analysis will contribute to the solution of the
problem of truth of religion in general and of religions other than Christianity and will do this from a
neutral point of view, not from that of the Christian religion.
At the very beginning we face the problem of the multitude of expressions: truth question in religion,
truth of religion, truth about religion, religious truth, truth in religion. Which of them should then be
used in discussing our issue? Treating language as an active instrument of cognition and notions as
useful tools I claim that each of them, even if it has a slightly different meaning, can be employed.
However, one needs carefully to determine the following issues: (1) what is meant by religion; (2)
how the notions of truth and truth of religion are to be understood; (3) what can be competently said
with regard to the question of the truth of religion by each particular kind of studies of religion.
The question of truth of religion was vehemently discussed at the dawn of the comparative studies of

The Hero s Journey In The Monomyth By Joseph Campbell
It may be hard to believe that every story follows a near identical pattern. Author Joseph Campbell
discovered a general structure for the plot of all myths and stories. He wrote about his theory in The
Hero With a Thousand Faces to educate others about this idea, which he called, The Monomyth .
Joseph Campbell, who has written many famed books in his lifetime, was a mythologist and spent a
large part of his time reading before creating this theory. The monomyth, also known as The Hero s

The Meaning Of Freedom
The Meaning of Freedom Freedom has very different meanings to each individual which makes it
hard to find a clear precise definition. The meaning of freedom to me is the right to do things as I
choose. It is the right to act or speak and make my own choices without restraint. Many people say
they would do whatever it takes to achieve to goal of true freedom, but how far will they really go for
their rights? Can people have freedom and still be responsible citizens? The definition of freedom
might be to some racial equality, equal rights, and gender equality. Just for this one idea, people have
gone as far as risking their lives and the lives of everyone around them. Freedom is the choice to live

Freedom does mean to right to do as one pleases, to think, believe, speak, worship, move about,
gather. I believe everyone should act as you choose, but only until your choices start to infringe on
another person s freedom. You can be a responsible citizen and still enjoy your freedom. Enjoying our
freedom does not mean that we can disregard the rights of others and live the way we feel right. We
also have to consider the rights and the feelings of the other people around us when living our
freedom. We believe in the freedom of people to make their own mistakes. We do not interfere with
them and they should not interfere with others (Roosevelt, 1905). I observe the rules and traditions of
the society. Sometimes I m not free to act as I want, because I know that it can bring harm to people
whom I love and respect. We really need to live in the society that is restricted. Can you imagine one
where all the people do what they want to? I think that it would turn into chaos. That s why I stick to
the opinion that people should obey the rules of the society they live in and respect the rights of other
people. Freedom is not an absolute right, and it too has some constraints. A popular saying goes: Your
freedom ends where mine begins. A freedom that poses a threat to the society and the nation we dwell
in is not freedom in real sense. One cannot just violate laws, kill people, smuggle drugs or doing
anything detrimental to the society and call it

How Does Sarty Change
Even though young Sarty despises his father s (Abner) crimes, why does he keep these crimes to
himself and not expose his father? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to have
repetitive feelings of grief and despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for his crimes. Sarty is hesitant
to out his father for his crimes because he hopes his father will change, he fears his father will harm
him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his family s wellbeing before his own. First,
Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change.
Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him having to act against his father. This can be
seen when Sarty is astonished by the gargantuan house of Mr. De Spain. There, Sarty thinks; Maybe
he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be.
(Faulkner, 40) He wants his father to change because he is tired of the life that his father is making

based on the past two moves, is more than likely based off the fact that Sarty s father has either burned

Hawaiian Culture Essay
There are still debates about the origins of Polynesian culture, but one thing we can ensure is that
Polynesia is not a single tribe but a complex one. Polynesians which includes Marquesans, Samoans,

indigenous peoples of parts of Southeast Asia. It s a sub region of Oceania, comprising of a large

of ancient Hawaii was in full swing!
The Polynesian migration to Hawaii was part of one of the most remarkable achievements of
humanity: the discovery and settlement of the remote, widely scattered islands of the central Pacific.
When European explorers found the islands of Polynesia, the common ancestry of the Polynesians
was evident the inhabitants of widely separated islands looked alike, spoke alike, and had similar
cultural practices. Their manufactured products such as fishhooks, trolling lures, adzes, and ornaments
also revealed similarities. And they had the same basic stock of domesticated plants and animals.

In polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the ovaries may not release an egg regularly or they may not
release a healthy egg. These women usually have irregular periods or no periods at all. In women,
reproductive history, demographics, and lifestyle habits also have been associated with reduced
fertility (Infertility). The causes of infertility in men and women vary widely, and medical imaging
typically plays a role in their diagnosis and treatment. Infertility can be treated with medicine, surgery,
or assisted reproductive technology (Infertility). Medicines can include fertility drugs for example
clomiphene or follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone injections. Another options
would be surgery to help women with fibroids, scarring, or even endometriosis. Lastly, assisted
reproductive technology can consists of in vitro fertilization or looking into a surrogate. When a
couple is experiencing infertility, a gynecologist generally evaluates the woman, as well as a semen
analysis is ordered for the male. Male infertility would be then suspected if the results from the semen
analysis were abnormal. The initial workup usually consists of medical history and physical
examination, as well as endocrine system and genetic evaluation in some cases (Peterson 177).
Infertility takes a toll of some people s lives and most of the time it is overlooked or not noticed fully.

Homer Cummings And Alcatraz Research Paper
What would be strong enough, safe enough, and suitable for such terrible humans, is what people
asked themselves for years, until Alcatraz. In 1934, the Rock was functioning and welcoming some of
the worst criminals alive. The man behind the plan was none other than Homer C. Cummings. Why?,
alcohol. A law was passed in the 1920s that was prohibiting liquor due to so many innocent yet drunk
people putting others in danger. However, that didn t stop anybody. Gangsters saw a new way to make
money, illegally selling alcohol. How d they do it? They would either make their own or smuggled it
from other countries. Would you buy booze from them, no you probably wouldn t. More likely so, you
d try to tell the authorities to catch the fugitives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Last of all, guards. What s any prison without guards. Since the guards would be out all day everyday
on the island, a school, a church, and homes were built for their families. Everything was intact. Time
for the prisoners. Who came, you may ask. Some of the mightiest criminals alive. Try Al Capone; the
most powerful criminal in the world who was responsible for more than 1,000 deaths of politicians,
policemen, and other gangsters. He killed anyone who got in his way, even if they were his own men.
This guy may ring a bell, Robert Stroud aka The Birdman; stabbing guards and killing innocent
people, he was sent to prison for life. In that time, he had already wrote two books about birds and
lived in a cell filled with feathered creatures. How d these men react, different. The first few years of
prison were very quite. Al Capone owed 39 days to the Hole. Isn t so fun being the underdog, is it?!
He drove him so nuts that when he was freed in 1939, he died a few years later. He wasn t the only
one who had died because of Alcatraz. Teddy Cole, a kidnapper and a murderer, was sent to the Rock
for 50 years. But he did not stay long. In December in 1937, he and a bank robber named Ralph Roe

Atticus Father Quotes
Harper Lee uses two major fatherly figures to represent good and evil in To Kill a Mockingbird . In
the book, Harper Lee uses Atticus Finch and Bob Ewell to show the good and bad sides of humans.
Even though Harper Lee shows Atticus and Bob to be alike because they are both fathers, old and live
in Maycomb, they are a lot different with their own qualities and views. Harper Lee characterizes
Atticus as good and Bob as evil. Mrs. Lee shows Atticus as a good loving father, for instance, his kids,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Death Of Horatio Alger
Paul Krugman, author of The Death of Horatio Alger, evaluates the declining social mobility in
America. He proposes that the decline in social mobility is causing the rich to continue to get richer
and the poor to continue to get poorer. Krugman was inspired to discuss how this would result in the
shocking loss of the American Dream, after he read a Business Week article that made him fearful of
the considerable and drastic decline that would destroy the livelihood of many Americans. Krugman s
purpose was to make his audience; those of lower socioeconomic status, aware that the American
Dream they hoped to achieve would soon become extinct. He creates a fearful and negative tone, in
order to grab his audience s attention and inform them about the economic downfall. Krugman
strongly conveys his message not only through his harsh tone, but by appealing to pathos,
incorporating rhetorical questions that create a fearful mood, and appealing to logos to make a
credible and sound argument.
Throughout the article, Krugman attempts to grab the attention of his audience and help them become
mindful of how the limited movement between social classes will have an effect on their life. In order
to do so, he implements rhetorical questions that appeal to pathos and ethos, while displaying a
negative tone and fearful mood. Rhetorical questions are used throughout the article to introduce an
important idea and make the readers evaluate their current social status. For example, the author
creates a hypothetical situation about the rich wanting to seek more advancements, he then questions,
What would you do? (11) and follows this question with steps one could take to control the
government and receive more leverage over the poor community. This question and response
strengthened his argument because it appealed to the readers emotions about the ability the rich have
to further harm the poor. Krugman also proposes questions that appeal to his ethos. After stating the
steps one could take to close off as many routes to upward mobility as possible, (14) he asks, It all
sounds sort of familiar, doesn t it? (15). This question is meant to be unanswered but make the
audience reflect. If the audience did feel that the

Pros And Cons Of Binding Precedent
Precedent is based on stare decisis, stand by what is decided. Every court is bound to follow any
decisions made by a court above it in the hierarchy and appeal courts are generally bound by their own
decisions, if the facts are similar. In addition, most appeal courts are generally bound by their own
previous decisions. For example, both the Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court of the High Court
are usually bound by their own previous decisions.
Judges must follow the ratio decidendi of the case i.e. the legal reason for the decision. This is known
as binding precedent. Anything else said in the judgement is known as obiter dicta and is merely
persuasive precedent i.e. may be followed e.g. sometimes courts will use decisions of ... Show more

However, the House of Lords will not always use the Practice Direction to overrule a previous
decision. In C v DPP (1995) concerning criminal liability for children and R v Clegg (1995)
concerning self defence, they refused to change the law. In both of these cases they that if a change
was required it was best left to parliament as wider issues were involved.
In R V Simpson (2003) Lord Woolf summed up the House of Lords view of precedent:
The rules of precedent reflect the practice of the courts and have to be applied bearing in mind that
their objective is to assist in the administration of justice. They are of considerable importance because
of their role in achieving the appropriate degree of certainty as to the law. This is an important
requirement of any system of justice. The principles should not however, be regarded as so rigid that
they cannot develop in order to meet contemporary needs.

The Effect of World War II on the Lives of People at Home World war two was officially started with
the invasion of Poland, September 1939 where the British being an ally of Poland and disagreeing

It managed to involve most of Europe and Asia, America, Canada, Australia, Africa. Debatably more
the 30 million perished as a direct result of the war and generally it was the war that the world
collectively lost more in than any other through out history. Not surprisingly it was proclaimed to be

Organisations like the local defence volunteers, first aid post and the home guard provided people
with opportunities to help the community in the times of trouble. Many communities rallied together
for church and town hall meetings in order to discuss the organisation of blackouts and the suitable
procedure in such circumstances. Often reliable people were given certain jobs to do like warning
people of air attacks by going through their street and shouting the message. The war opened new
opportunities for women, who suddenly realised they could be independent and faced responsibilities
like earning money for the family and being in control. The government still did not treat women
equally and were reluctant to give them jobs, but they realised they needed the extra employees so
paid them 2/3 the men s wage, most women accepted their duties and many jumped at the chance to

A Form Of Surrogate Motherhood
When I think of indentured servitude, I view it in a negative context. To be indentured means to be
forced to work by some contract. (Indentured Dictionary Definition) While surrogacy involves signing
a contract, I think it is situationally dependent when deciding if it is considered a form of indentured
servitude. It is a complex topic, but I personally believe deeming the act a form of indentured
servitude largely depends on the intentions behind using surrogacy in the first place, and how the
surrogate mother is treated. I associate someone being indentured with someone being burdened.
Therefore, if the surrogate is treated improperly but still being paid, I would consider that a form of
indentured servitude.
There are two types of egoism to consider, namely psychological egoism and ethical egoism.
Psychological egoism is defined as the position that we always do that act that we perceive to be in
our own best self interest. (Pojman Fieser 82) Ethical egoism holds that everyone ought always to do
those acts that will best serve his or her own best self interest. (Pojman Fieser 82) I think there are
some cases in which surrogate motherhood would and would not be considered a form of indentured
servitude under egoism. If there was a woman who was looking for a surrogate mother because she
did not want to carry a baby for nine months and experience any of the negative side effects that come
with being pregnant, and she had the surrogate stay with

How Did Joseph Lister Use Antiseptic Surgery
By Joseph Lister using antiseptics in surgery, the cleanliness of modern surgery is very sanitary and

Increasing Price Discrimination In The Workplace
Individuals encounter price discriminations on an almost daily basis, whether realizing it or not.
Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular
price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as
identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013).
Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced cost
providing stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the
qualification of price discrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a
good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the
elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order
to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit.
Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be
established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking.
Parking garages often provide a menu of price differences for different frames of time, such as two
hours, four hours, eight hours, or even overnight (Lin Wang, 2015). ... Show more content on

While in Egypt, the Te thys Sea uncovered what became a great deposit of limestone and sandstone,

He told reporters Russia is developing its own payment system known as Karta Mir, and he also said, it is being discussed whether Karta Mir should be linked to Chinese payments in some way. It also discusses how Russia began and why they began working on a new payment system. They began the process because of the fallout that they had with the West and ensuing war in Ukraine in 2014. Medvedev believes that this new payment system is a great thing and that it would be able to avoid problems that came up in the American payment systems. Russia is beginning to align its economy more with China and the Far East. Medvedev says the world needs a balanced system of financial relations, based on the use of different currencies for different transactions. There should not be a dominance by any single currency. China at this time is also trying to make its currency of the Yuan to become a rival to the US dollar. Russia on the other hand is still trying to recover from the financial crisis in 2014. Third article is What Russia China Relations Mean for the US dollar (cnbc.com). According to this article the alliance between Russia and China has the potential to undercut the US and its dominant currency. • 5. Graphic And Violent Video Games Research Paper Graphic and Violent video games: Companies should strictly rate and monitor their games By: Talisa Anderson Graphic and violent video game companies should strictly rate their video games that are being sold. When teenagers ages 13 18 play these violent video games that include killing, blood and terrorism, they have less physical activity. The more teenagers that play graphic and violent video games have more chances to be affected by the violence and mature content. Every time these games are played, the gamers will react more aggressively and violently toward students at school, siblings and parents. When violent and graphic video games are strictly rated and monitored the positive outcomes are less mature content, more physical activity and prevents teens from video game related violence. • 6. Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost every country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be required to be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what they do to get that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around since ancient times. On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the more organized labor becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job groups, food, child care, and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the ones overseeing the work and directing the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more scholarly subjects. Next down the line were clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants and traders underneath them who bought and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly prisoners of war who were forced to work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in modern day. The social/working pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government officials, the politicians, the doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class, and even convicts who work to earn credit or are even forced to work. ... This is why we should have drug testing when it comes to athletes. According to rasmussen.edu there are roughly 3.2 percent of high school Athletes that have been using steroids or taken shots with out doctors permission. There was a story in the New York times article Differing Views on Value of High School Tests that had triggered people s attention. Taylor Hooton a 17 year old lived in Plano, Tex., Had committed suicide in 2003. This was a very shocking moment Taylor was a baseball player, and was very athletic. It was said that his father was the one who started the the testing drugs in high school. Nothing was said about his mother as far as I know from my knowledge is that she was very shocked. Fox 13 salt lake city reporter Caroline Collonny, had a story on a hockey team that held silence for a teammate that had past away a year ago by the use of drugs with three friends on a Friday. This was not a usual case it all happened one night, but this is a prime example if it had not been all one night, and it just so happened to happen all the time. The police had said that they ... • 9. Cosplay Imperialism Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called cosplayers wear costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a specific fictional character. It is a unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western participants to assume identities and to differentiate themselves in ways which western culture cannot. I believe everyone should act as you choose, but only until your choices start to infringe on another person s freedom. You can be a responsible citizen and still enjoy your freedom. Enjoying our freedom does not mean that we can disregard the rights of others and live the way we feel right. We also have to consider the rights and the feelings of the other people around us when living our freedom. We believe in the freedom of people to make their own mistakes. We do not interfere with them and they should not interfere with others (Roosevelt, 1905). I observe the rules and traditions of the society. • 26. Rhetorical Analysis Of Death Of Horatio Alger Paul Krugman, author of The Death of Horatio Alger, evaluates the declining social mobility in America. He proposes that the decline in social mobility is causing the rich to continue to get richer and the poor to continue to get poorer. Krugman was inspired to discuss how this would result in the shocking loss of the American Dream, after he read a Business Week article that made him fearful of the considerable and drastic decline that would destroy the livelihood of many Americans. Krugman s purpose was to make his audience; those of lower socioeconomic status, aware that the American Dream they hoped to achieve would soon become extinct. He creates a fearful and negative tone, in order to grab his audience s attention and inform them about the economic downfall. Krugman strongly conveys his message not only through his harsh tone, but by appealing to pathos, incorporating rhetorical questions that create a fearful mood, and appealing to logos to make a credible and sound argument. Throughout the article, Krugman attempts to grab the attention of his audience and help them become mindful of how the limited movement between social classes will have an effect on their life. In order to do so, he implements rhetorical questions that appeal to pathos and ethos, while displaying a negative tone and fearful mood. Rhetorical questions are used throughout the article to introduce an important idea and make the readers evaluate their current social status. For example, the author creates a hypothetical situation about the rich wanting to seek more advancements, he then questions, What would you do? (11) and follows this question with steps one could take to control the government and receive more leverage over the poor community. This question and response strengthened his argument because it appealed to the readers emotions about the ability the rich have to further harm the poor. Krugman also proposes questions that appeal to his ethos. After stating the steps one could take to close off as many routes to upward mobility as possible, (14) he asks, It all sounds sort of familiar, doesn t it? (15). I associate someone being indentured with someone being burdened. Therefore, if the surrogate is treated improperly but still being paid, I would consider that a form of indentured servitude. There are two types of egoism to consider, namely psychological egoism and ethical egoism. Psychological egoism is defined as the position that we always do that act that we perceive to be in our own best self interest. (Pojman Fieser 82) Ethical egoism holds that everyone ought always to do those acts that will best serve his or her own best self interest. (Pojman Fieser 82) I think there are some cases in which surrogate motherhood would and would not be considered a form of indentured servitude under egoism. If there was a woman who was looking for a surrogate mother because she did not want to carry a baby for nine months and experience any of the negative side effects that come with being pregnant, and she had the surrogate stay with ... • 32. Increasing Price Discrimination In The Workplace Individuals encounter price discriminations on an almost daily basis, whether realizing it or not. Considering that many fast food chains off discounts to seniors, one could possibly pay the regular price and not even think of the possibility of a discount. Price discrimination can be described as identical services or goods being sold at different prices by one single provider (Sexton, 2013). Therefore, each time a person shops at Goodwill, he or she has the opportunity of a reduced cost providing stipulations are met such as being a student, senior, or military. In order to meet the qualification of price discrimination, three points are provided. First, the organization must provide a good or service that is not offered by other organizations, establishing a monopoly. Secondly, the elasticities of demand have to be prevalent, and, and thirdly, stipulations have to be enforced in order to prevent reselling of the product or service for a profit. Considering the price differences encountered by parking garages, price discrimination can be established by examining the price differences between long term parking and short term parking.
