President George Bush Essay
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents, he
had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States. Because
of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of being the
Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never gave up on his
country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when George was only two years
old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated from Yale and wanted to
attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of Texas called Odessa, and
though times were not always easy , it eventually became a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing football,
and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush admired his history
professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in history. George had very
little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However, some of his classmates believe
that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader were pre political experiences. While he
was a well known figure, there were many times he faced conflicts at school for being a male
cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for the world of politics. Bush himself claims that
his student activities qualified him for the White House. After he attended Andover, he persistently
demonstrated the same leadership: not a powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional
ability to make friends, work a crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction (The New
York Times Company). When he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and
Republicans, and built successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without
becoming engaged in policy details (The New York Times Company). George Bush, the forty first
president, was surprised to see his first born son become interested in politics,

King Ashurnasirpal s Relief Essay
The relief, consisted of five panels, functions both as a religious representation as well as imposing the
king s power. Stone Panel in Bas relief was once lined the inner walls of the Northwest Palace of King
Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud. Nimrud, located on the Tigris River in northern Iraq, was the capital of
Assyria during Ashurnasirpal II s reign. The bas relief visually communicates its viewer by possessing
a more peaceful but equally imposing iconography, depicting Ashurnasirpal s ritual activities in the
company of human attendants and supernatural figures. The stone reliefs were carved in gypsum.
Gypsum was a soft stone that was locally available, which possibly represents the king s
approachability. In contrast, the reliefs are monumental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All figures were carved in twisted perspective, displaying a frontal torso with a right facing profile
head and body. This type of perspective allows the viewer to capture the depiction of the arms as they
complete an action. King Ashurnasirpal II appears on right of the panel. He can be identified from his
fez type head dress, a symbol of power and prestige. He is depicted with his long hair and square
beard, which are both highly stylized. He is wearing a long garment, which exposes his muscular
forearms and also his sandaled feet are visible. This portray the toughness of life in Assyria, denoting
back to his powerful control. Furthermore, the king stands very stiff and upright, suggesting his
rigidness. He is holding a bow in his left hand and two upward pointing arrows symbolizing defense
and protection from harm in his right hand that is raised upward. His supreme status was conveyed
through the rich decorative details that appear on his shoulder. Taking a closer look, one can see the
bull and lion battle. Once again, the symbolic imagery evidently offers the viewer clues to its
meaning. The bull and lion represents the Assyrians fierce nature and asserts the king s fighting skills
and brutality. The importance of the king is made evident by his activities and position within the

Mobile Phones Research Paper
The world today is filled with all different type of smart phones and tablets. Technology is developing
fast and we don t know where this will leave web designers and developers and how will they proceed
in the future. As attached to our phones we are its hard to imagine how young the technology of
smartphones really are. In 1908 the first apparent wireless device came when Prof. Albert Jahnke and
the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company believed they had industrialized
a wireless telephone. Sadly they were accused of fraud. Later the charge was dropped and production
of the device never proceeded. In 1918, German railroad systems started to test their own wireless
phones on their military trains. Trials began in 1924 and a year later Zugtelephonie A.G. was
established to supply train telephony equipment with the first telephone systems being accepted for
use in postal and other trains by 1926. On June 17, 1946 the first truly mobile phone service appeared
on June 17, 1946 under Bell Labs, which industrialized mobile phones that endorsed users to place
and receive phone calls from their automobiles. Martin Cooper, a research executive at Motorola to
Joel S Engel of Bell Labs, made the first mobile phone calls from a handheld device on April 3, 1973.
That first handheld phone, 1G (First genereation), was 10 inches long and weighed about 2.5 pounds.
The prototype presented 30 minutes of talk time on a single charge and took 10 hours to recharge. The

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Patio
There are many different options out there to create outdoor usable. The majority of homeowners
recognizes and have difficulty in deciding between either a deck or a patio. Patio and deck terms often
are used interchangeably. In reality, the differences between the two are quite apparent.
A patio is an outdoor space sited directly on the ground and may be linked to the house or built in a
separate part of the yard. Patios often have concrete bases, and some homeowners utilize stone, tile,
pavers, brick or other materials to build the foundation. In most cases patios do not include a rail; they
may or may not be sheltered. Today s patios have party goodies like fire pits, built in barbeques, and
sitting areas, making them the wonderful relaxation or socialisation space. Source: diynetwork.com
Decks are typically constructed of wood or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deck using high end materials, the labour required to install a deck is less, helping to lessen
overall cost.
Installation is also a big benefit for choosing a deck. The way a deck is built allows more creativity in
location. The actual structure is built above the ground. This means that tree roots, wet ground, even
big slopes can be easily overcome without adding significant expenses.
Traditionally, the lifespan of a wood structure is about seven eight years if it s not cared for. This
average is getting longer with more options coming into the market like composites and all weather
stains. Even pressure treated wood is seeing new technology in which use smaller molecules in the
stain to get the rich brown colour deeper into the wood; preserving it longer.
Remodeling Magazine (2014) released a study that the return on investment for a wood deck is 87
percent, exceeding all indoor renovations.
In short, from the cost perspective patios are usually cheaper than decks. The cost of the project will
depend upon a variety of factors and these

Threats Of The Real Estate Industry
To the industry  More players in the market  More satisfied parties in the industry  More
innovations can be expected  Less chances of misrepresentation  More encouragement to genuine
buyers and sellers Threats to real estate industry No doubt, these online portals and e commerce are
providing ample opportunities to the buyers and sellers who want to deal in real estate and it can
flourish the real estate industry but at the same time, it poses some threats to this industry which can
be discussed as under.  Agents may get eliminated: As discussed earlier, in the modern way of
dealing, the need of agent will be less and their role will be limited or they will be eliminated from the
system. Not only this, the online database of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More developed infrastructure: The infrastructure of these online portals is very basic. There is a need
for more advanced infrastructure where the properties can be booked, rented, leased and even bought
and sold. It will require a lot of formalities like online contracts, government permissions, change in
law and payment systems etc. Online Scams: As buyers and sellers can keep their identity secret and
unrevealed, there are a lot of chances of scams in these portals. People may take advance rent or any
upfront payment and thereafter they may elope. In this case, it will be difficult to rely upon these kinds
of services. There is a need to make improvement in this area too. Online Closing of transactions:
Even today, you cannot close the transactions online. There are a lot of big companies who are
showing their interest in making this functionality available. It requires a lot of funding and
government permissions which is not easy. So, a lot of work can be done in this area too. Conclusion
The online technology is expanding day by day. Real estate industry is that one where the information
is required to make the deals. In the traditional times, the agents were the source of information and
their role was very prominent. Now, people have started making transactions through online web
portals which list and displays properties online. Even today, due to the lack of infrastructure, norms,
government permissions and funds etc. only the half

Copyright Laws Protect Intellectual Property
Copyright laws are intended to protect the intellectual properties of writers, musicians, artists, and
others. In order for a work to be copyrightable, it must be both tangible, or fixed, and original. There
have been many changes made to copyright law throughout time, however, each change has been
made in order to further protect a person s intellectual property. In order for a work be eligible to be
copyrighted it must fall into one of seven tangible or fixed categories. These categories include literary
works, audio visual works, sound recordings, musicals, pantomimes or choreography,
pictorial/graphic/sculptural representations, and dramatic works. Architectural works became
copyrightable in 1990. There are also several things that cannot be copyrighted. These limited things
include titles and names, ideas, works by the United States Federal government, works without
authorship or facts, and fashion. A copyright gives the copyright holder exclusive rights to produce
copies of their work and sell those copies, to import and/or export the work, to create derivative works
based upon the original work, to perform or display the work in a public forum, to transmit or display
their works via radio or video, and to transfer these aforementioned rights as whole or in part, to
others. Additionally, it should be noted that derivative works subsequently acquire a new copyright
that is not attached to the original work. In 1995, a sixth exclusive right was included; the right to

Characteristics Of Caring
There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that
would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave her hugs
and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she decided to call me
and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day I think she has more
trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can be performed in many
different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking with someone that needs a
friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and Marin from Geraldo no Last Name
are caring to others because they both care for someone that they hardly even know. First off Madeline
from Everything Everything is caring for others. One example is That night I only IM with him until 2
A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad
day she will. If he has a problem, then he can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because
she helps him with life problems because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his
problems and think of an answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see
what happens not because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). This shows that she
is caring by saying that she will basically risk everything for him if he needs her. She is

Ballerina Persuasive Speech
Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to
Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful
ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert,
promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the
ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jeté, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not
the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jeté, meaning big throw in French, is used
to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the
jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion
horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like
jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge
starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected
to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the
ground. So how does a ballerina stays in the air as if they were hanged mid air? The answer is in the
split. But first, we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Electronic Media--From Baby Videos to Educational...
The accessibility of modern technology in the lives of the public advocates the immoderate
consumption of screen time. Within the past century, America s development of futuristic technologies
has surpassed expectations. The tools available today are often looked upon as a major improvement
to society but often enough, the drawbacks are not recognized. As Americans are submerged in the
influx of technological devices, the ability to restrain from them is mitigated. People prominently
enjoy using electronics, specifically television and computers, due to the proximity they hold in their
lives. When an object is constantly surrounding someone, he or she often becomes attached to it,
finding comfort in its presence. Likewise, when a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the television is always on, simply sitting down for a twenty minute program can lead to a night
spent on the couch. However, televisions are not the only culprits contributing to the issue. The
accessibility found in cell phones and computers is beyond extraordinary. The knowledge of the world
can be obtained with a click of a button or a tap of a finger. The introduction of the internet has
revolutionized the way of life for better or for worse. Rather than reading newspapers and books to
retrieve information, people resort to the internet for their means. This is entirely justifiable,
considering the drastic variation in the time required to access information on each platform.
However, smart phones and computers have become the primary way to communicate and interact
with the outside world due to their simplicity and agility. The convenience of modern technology is
partially responsible for America s obsession with screens.
In times of boredom, people often turn to electronics to satisfy their hunger for entertainment. Society
has made it acceptable to rely on television and social media for amusement during free time rather
than participating in more traditional forms of time pass. Reading books and newspapers has become a
burden now that information can so easily be found in the technology that is becoming more and more
accessible. Even children often prefer television to books and toys. The novelty preference concept

Hotel-Booking Market
PROMOTIONAL CHANNELS
Hotel booking market is heating up its rivalry, as Hotel sales in the U.S. and European online hotel
bookings market are projected to increase by 16 percent to $79 billion next year, from $68 billion in
2012. Travel related inquiries on search engines are now second most searched topics, surpassing
shopping, according to WordStream Inc., a developer of search marketing software. Competitors for
this segment include travel advertisers such as Expedia, TripAdvisor and Orbitz Worldwide. Priceline
is the biggest spender in terms of online ad spending. Priceline, an online booking giant, boosted
annual ad spending to more than $1 billion. The competition strategy over other booking websites like
Expedia and Google have raised questions about the benefits of promoting online versus good old
fashion TV campaigning. Online advertising is preferred method today as it provides consumers a
quick way to compare prices and complete the transaction all in one step. Online channels recently
included social networking services Facebook and Twitter take a majority share of the web advertising
market. Second portion of that share is still spent for ads on search sites. With major decline in money
spent on TV campaigns, Priceline is one of the companies still heavily vested in TV ads and continues
to use that promotion channel to raise brand awareness. Also, in 2013 TripAdvisor, the hotel reviews
site, started to broadcast its first TV advertisement in the US proving that

The Age Of Reason Thomas Paine Summary
Throughout The Age of Reason, Thomas Paine gives several examples for why he is opposed to
Christianity. Before I began reading this essay, I was absolutely positive that I was going to disagree
with every point that Paine had to make and every opinion that he expressed. It did not take long for
me to realize that I had made the wrong assumption. There was more than one occasion while reading
The Age of Reason that I discovered I actually agreed with Paine s opinion/belief. This encouraged me
to read The Age of Reason once again, but this time with an open mind. I decided that I would also
take notes on the similarities and differences between Paine s worldview and mine. I came across my
first disagreeance with Paine a few sentences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The morality that he preached and practiced was of the most benevolent kind. . . (Timmerman and
Hettinga). I was very surprised that Paine had written these words. I was let down again when I read
that Paine did not believe in the way that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God or how he
resurrected three days after his death and then ascended into heaven. Paine s reason for not believing
these facts about Jesus is simply because evidence never was given. Paine relays the message to me
that he will not believe anything unless there is evidence to support the fact or opinion. Paine relies on
evidence. This is one of the many ways that Paine s worldview is different from mine. I rely on faith. I
have faith that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God and that He rose from the grave three days
after his death. The next time I find myself agreeing with what Paine believes is when he states,
Human language is local and changeable, and is therefore incapable of being used as means of
unchangeable and universal information (Timmerman and Hettinga 100). I agree that the human
language is not solid and that it cannot be trusted; however, I once again find something wrong with
Paine s worldview. Paine did not believe that Jesus had any kind of supernatural abilities. He believed
that Jesus was just like any other human being. He therefore comes to the conclusion that Jesus

The Use of Symbolism in Golding s Lord of the Flies Essay
The Use of Symbolism in Golding s Lord of the Flies
His head opened and stuff came out and turned red. Piggy s arms and legs twitched a bit like a pig
after it has been killed (217). This is what can happen to someone when all signs of civilization, order
and power disappear and have no more meaning to members of a group or society. In the writing of
William Golding s Lord of the Flies (1954), the symbol of power and civilization is the conch. Once
that is lost, all bets are off. When the novel begins, two boys are talking about what has happened and

In the very beginning the conch is used to bring all of the boys in the story together. Ralph blows it
and they come. This is the first sign of its power. The boys have been lost and now there is this thing,
much like a school bell, calling them to be brought together. It has brought order to this strange place
in which they are stranded.
During these boys escapade, when one wants to speak in front of the assembly, one must have the
conch in his hand. We ll have to have hands up like at school...Then I ll give him the conch (35). They
are setting up rules just as they had learned in their civilization. They are also making the conch the
only way one can talk at meetings.
All throughout this novel the boys are called to meetings to discuss the rules, the fire, and many other
assorted things. One of these things is a beast that comes in the night but does not leave foot prints or
any trail at any time. All the boys are very afraid of this beast and what it may do to them if it gets
hold of them. As it turns out the beast is in the boys: You knew, didn t you? I m part of you? (172).
This is the lord of the flies, also known as the beast, talking to Simon the first boy murdered. The
beast is their unwillingness to maintain a civilization; it is their transformation into savages. All the
time at all these meetings the boys respect the conch and whoever held the conch was respected, even
if he was not liked. Once this symbol of

Pros And Cons Of Search Engine Optimization
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
In simple words, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be defined as the Do s and Don ts of Search
engines that if followed properly can improve the visibility of your website which will eventually lead
to better sales and promotion of your website, products and services. How?
When you launch a new website it is obvious that you will be among the millions. And among those
thousands that even Google doesn t know about their existence. And a week passes by with just one or
two visitors with zero contribution. It is obvious to get frustrated. But, it is more obvious to have a
question in your mind what other websites are doing so that they are ranking in the first page and what
you did that you got lost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When compared with the off web marketing your expenses are very high because you need manpower
to promote and the cost of advertisements are also very high. But, with the growing web surfers
business marketing has become very economical because even the social bookmarking sites like:
www.facebook.com offers your advertisements low cost whereas the features they provide are
enormous. Similarly, it is easy because you can promote your business with a click and completely
reduces your manpower budget.
All of the above listed advantages are worthy only if you rank well in Google and other major search
engines. With poor placement and zero page rank no customers will know your existence in the
internet and there is no question of building goodwill.
Black Hat and White Hat SEO:
Black hat and white SEO is two different stream of SEO which are distinctly different from one
another. Black hat SEO represents those people who are engaged in unethical SEO practices like:
keyword stuffing, link farming and article spinning which can seriously hamper your website and your
online business. Google is found to banned and delist such websites who are engaged in such
practices.
Similarly, white hat SEO is the ethical way of competing in the search engine to gain desired page
rank following the do s and don ts of Google.

The Senator of South Carolina, Jim DeMint, supported Tea Party candidates from within Republican
establishments (Ray, par 5).
In 2009 at least 200 Tea Party groups were formed in Texas. The amount of people in Texas inspired
by the Tea Party movement only became evident on Election Day. 47 percent of Texas voters claimed
to be supporters of the Tea Party. Their turnout produced a Republican gain of twenty two seats in the
Texas House of Representatives.
There are at least two threats that the Tea Party currently faces. The first threat is the anti Tea Party
meme; which is a construct of liberal media calling the Tea Party dangerous extremists. However, the
Tea Party has debunked this charge through habitually civil behavior. Another part of the anti Tea
Party meme is charges of racism. However, the fading of large Tea Party gatherings have taken away
opportunities to demonstrate large crowds of white people as a sign of racism.
A second threat to the Tea Party is the threat of widespread voter fraud. If voter fraud is too
widespread, the efforts of the Tea Party may not be enough to counteract the get out the vote efforts of
Tea Party organizations across the nation (Cary, 2).
There is no single agenda of the Tea Party. This allows each autonomous group to set its own
priorities. Tea Party organizers view this as strength, because this aids against corruption from within

Homosexuality in William Shakespeare s The Merchant of Venice
With every great story line comes a theme. William Shakespeare created an art of intertwining often
unrecognizable themes within his plays. In Shakespeare s play, The Merchant of Venice, one hidden
theme is the idea of homosexuality. This theme might not have even been noticed until modern
Shakespeare fans discovered them. According to Alan Bray s book, Homosexuality in Renaissance
England, the modern image of the homosexual cannot be applied to the early modern period, when
homosexual behavior was viewed in terms of the sexual act and not an individual s broader identity.

This is where the link of Antonio s homosexual feelings towards Bassanio can be seen. In the end,
Antonio is unable to pay Shylock back on his loan. Antonio, on the verge of having a pound of flesh
taken, directs a speech toward Bassanio regarding his love for him. A closer look at this particular
speech, which occurs in Act IV Scene I, can help the reader to better understand Shakespeare s
intricate wording that portrays homosexuality in Antonio.
The word love is used numerous times in this seventeen line speech given by Antonio. According to
the Oxford English Dictionary, the word love , as a verb, was used by Shakespeare in his plays
meaning to entertain a strong affection for; spec. to have a passionate attachment to a person of the
opposite sex; to be in love (OED). During this speech, Antonio preaches to Bassanio, Say how I lov d
you, speak me fair in death (4.1.271). Taking this statement and placing it against the definition
provided, the reader can see that Antonio holds more than just a friendly love towards Bassanio.
Before he is about to die, Antonio professes his love to Bassanio. One would think that Antonio would
feel angry that he was unable to fulfill a contract that he didn t benefit from. Instead, he chooses his
last words as loving ones toward another man.
Another instance in which Antonio uses the word love is in noun form. According to the OED, love ,

The Unknown Citizen
By W. H. Auden
Several conflicts are dramatized in The Unknown Citizen, the most prominent being: conformity of
the middle class, government manipulation, and the loss of individualism to the standards of an
average citizen. The speaker of this poem is non traditional as the poem is, in fact, an inscription on a
marble monument erected by the State. The inscription is dedicated to a JS/07 M 378 presumably, The
Unknown Citizen, although this term only appears in the title. The Unknown Citizen is essentially an
elegy, a lament for the dead, written by either a government official or a strong believer in the
government. This becomes clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among his praises, for example: When there was peace, he was for peace: when there was war, he
went (24). In this, it becomes clear to the reader that you do not want to be an average citizen; you do
not want this to be your elegy. Some critics argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing
disgraceful in being unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the
individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human beings. Auden
presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even before the poem itself. The phrase
Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title. This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of
the Unknown Soldier, especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact
that it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in Washington, D.C.
where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a
soldier who cannot be recognized after being found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be
interpreted to mean that many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. Aside
from this large allegory, the poem uses only a few rhetorical devices. In line four, for example, ...in the
modern sense of an old fashioned word, he was a saint is quite an exaggeration because being one
against whom there was no official complaint is hardly saintly (2). Another

Abstract
The preamble of The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest
Rights) Act, 2006 (hereinafter referred to as the Forest Rights Act or FRA) states that the Act was
passed to undo the historical injustice committed against the forest dwelling Scheduled Tribes and
other traditional forest dwellers who have been residing in the forests for centuries, but whose rights
could not be recorded. It becomes imperative to understand the legal institutional structure of the
Indian government to better understand the decision making capabilities in regards to forests in India.
There are so many legalities and so many laws that are in place that it is a complex affair to
understand how law operates. With so many laws passed at different point of time and space it is
tough to really enforce these laws with them contradicting each other. For example according to one
law (Indian Forest Act), the forests fall under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Environment and Forests,
making forests property of the Indian government and in another law (Forest Rights Act), the nodal
agency is Ministry of Tribal Affairs and indigenous people are also considered as a part

Analysis Of Rawl s Theory Of Justice
In this paper, I will summarize Rawl s Theory of Justice where he presents an argument of what is
needed for true justice in a contemporary society. By examining Rawl s philosophy, I will agree with
his original position, veil of ignorance, and justice as fairness which contains his view of human
nature. Then, I will compare and contrase John Lockes differing views of human nature to Rawl s
position of human nature and defend possible assertions towards Rawls position.
Rawls view of human nature assumes everyone makes decisions based on self interest alone, while
making a rational account to the available information around, such as the probability of events and
the cost and benefits of those actions based on those events. An example would be skipping a lecture.
You would decide if the extra sleep is worth the missed material. In answer to fix our self interest,
John Rawls had introduced the concept of Justice as Fairness, which focuses that everyone has the
right to both liberty and equality. His libertarian principles focus on quality in the assignment of basic
rights and duties while his equalitarian principles focus on wealth and authority ... only if they result
in compensating benefits for everyone (Rawls 12). His views of equality are based on everyone s
ability to cooperate, with the advantages of equality attracting everyone, even the less situated. (Rawls
13).
An essential component to Rawls argument is that justice would be chosen from representatives

Research Paper On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Tripti Pandey Mrs. Dillon English 7/8 12 April 2017 The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire As time
goes by, everything is evolving: from machines to people. However, evolution does not simply occur,
it is caused. On March 25, 1911, the triangle shirtwaist factory (brown building) burned down, taking
146 innocent people s lives with it (Fire, par. 3). These lives could have been saved by the two owners
of the Brown Building, Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. If they had just taken a few basic precautions,
such as supplying a sufficient amount of water to different parts of the building, these people may
have been spared (Sweatshops and Strikes, par. 2). The deaths of these innocent workers provoked an
uprising towards the factories. The Triangle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, workers of any age were permitted, as long as they worked (Staff, par. 2). Before leaving
the building, workers had to pass through the only backdoor, which was down a narrow passageway,
which was supposed to prevent robberies (Staff, par. 2). There were also many safety hazards that the
owners slyly kept away from the eyes of the City Council members. There were only two slim fire
escapes while there should have been three wide ones, and there were only a couple buckets of water
given to throw at the event of a fire(Leap for Life, Leap of Death, par. 6). At the time of the fire, the
fire department realized that there was a lot more that the owners could have done to prevent this
accident. As an after effect of the fire, many rules were put into place in New York to prevent fires
from happening in similar circumstances. A major law that was put into place is the Occupational
Safety and Health act or OSHA (Korasick, par. 1). This law states that employees working in factories
should not be exposed to anything harmful, should not have terrible working conditions, and that
workplaces of factory employees need to be sanitary (Epa, 1). If the fire had not occurred, factories

Qualitative And Mixed Methods
In research, there are mainly three approaches i.e. Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed methods. The
importance of qualitative inquiry established first in Sociology (the work of Chicago school) and
Anthropology (fieldwork of Malinowski and Radcliffe Brown) in 1920s and 1930s. Qualitative
research is primarily exploratory in nature and involves a variety of different approaches. It gives us
understanding of underlying reasons, opinions and motivation. Qualitative research is a field of
inquiry in which the observer studies a foreign setting other than his own culture, customs and habits.
The existence of qualitative research was an issue in 1970s and 1980s. The paradigm war started for
social justice that delegitimizes the assumptions of positivists. Critical and feminist theories were
emerging which throws light upon poor, non whites, marginalized and women. This paradigm war
incapacitates the quantitative research in education. Qualitative research avoids or downplays
quantitative methods.
Qualitative research has two faces. First, qualitative researchers are assumed to be competent

the variables under study using statistical analysis and work is mainly done from value free

investigators tend to study individual s perspective through detailed interviews and observation, which
quantitative researchers do not consider objective. In quantitative researches, individual is studied by
using numbers, statistical tables and graphs. Qualitative researchers believe in rich descriptions of the

Gung Ho And Office Space: How NOT To Manage
Chapter 1 of James C. McCroskey s Organizational Communication for Survival states that some
people believe competent communication is competent communication no matter where it is practiced
. (1) I believe this to be entirely untrue. Subordinate to subordinate communication differs greatly
from subordinate to supervisor communication. As is true for different cultures communicating. In the
movies Office Space and Gung Ho we see two different work places with different management
styles, different office culture, different everything. They both are similar in the way that they feature
a clash between management and the employees. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Movie Office Space features a typical cubicle style office environment. There is no culture clash,
just classic examples of bad management. Peter and Joanna are two people in different environments
who both suffer from dissatisfaction. Peter works at a company similar to Intel or IBM, Joanna at a
restaurant similar to TGI Friday s. The office environment is exactly how our book says it should not
be, which leads to many comical scenes. Communication comes from the top down only, in the form
of impersonal memos. There are 8 bosses that Peter all must answer to. This is described as a Tall
structure of business in our book, like IBM. At IBM there are many units, with many supervisors, and
fewer employees per supervisor (53). Power is very centralized at Peter s job; his main boss is named
Bill Lumbergh. Bill is a greedy, overbearing authoritarian and abuses his power in many ways he has
his own reserved parking spot right in front of the building, he forces Peter to come in to work on the
weekends, and he is very condescending to his employees. The multiple bosses just create a more
negative work environment. For example, when Peter forgets to put coversheets on his TBS reports,
Lumbergh and a couple of his other bosses talk to him like he is stupid, asking if he got the memo.
The memo represents the formal, written mode of communication that classical organizations use. As
stated, Communication comes from the top down, and any

The Issues Of Race And Privilege
There are any issues that the nation, the world, is facing today. Is it okay to travel to Africa? Is the
water safe to drink? Many questions. Something that has been a question, a problem, an issue, for
many years has recently become the main focus of topic; race and privilege. Those are topics that is
discussed by many and somewhat dreaded by others. How can all people work collectively to address
issues of race and privilege? That is a question that I will address and hopefully offer a solution to the
issues in the form of a moral claim. Political philosophers or philosophies to support the claim will be
incorporated. Criticisms of the claim will be anticipated and a response will be given. A Jesuit value
will be presented and how the value informs and supports my claim will be discussed. Last week I
attended the American Psychological Association Convention in Toronto, Canada. During a session, a
White male talked that how is beginning to see and understand privilege, particularly white privilege.
The discussion continued with other comments about privilege and all from those who were the
recipients of white privilege. According to the dictionary, privilege is a right or immunity granted as a

Anne Applebaum Cold War Summary
At the end of WWII, two world superpowers emerged, the United States and the Soviet Union. As
time went on, tensions and hostilities began to grow between the two countries. The Cold War was not
a war in the traditional sense of battles, but it was a war of policies, ideals, and political influence. The
United States ideology of capitalism heavily clashed with the Soviet Union s ideology of communism.
There are many debates about how the hostility between the two countries became so tense. Historian
Anne Applebaum argues against the revisionist theory that the U.S.S.R. s actions were a result of the
U.S. hostile actions following WWII, thus beginning the Cold War. Another historian by the name of
William Appleman Williams holds a viewpoint that challenged Applebaum s as he believes that the

Overconfidence In Into Thin Air
Multiple people died on Everest in the spring of 1996, but there were many causes to the deaths of
those climbers. One of the main causes was the overconfidence by multiple people on the mountain.
The book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer states, One of the first people I passed when I started moving
again was Scott Fischer s sirdar, Lopsang Jangbu, kneeling in the snow over a pile of vomit . . . His
feeble state, moreover, had been compounded by his insistence on short roping the celebrity amateur,
Sandy Pittman . . . (Krakauer 176). In this quote from the book, it says that Lopsang chooses to short

Rob knew that this was their only chance to summit, so he wanted to do it no matter what. But if that
is true, then Rob should have known the right thing to do as a veteran of the mountain was not to have
too much confidence in his and his team s abilities. Finally, the last evidence we found was in the
movie Everest. While watching, it depicted how Scott Fischer was overconfident in his skill. He went
down and up the mountain too fast (Kormákur), and this made him sick. Because he was a guide, he
thought he had the competence to do it. If Scott had taken his time, he could have helped Rob with
making crucial decisions like now it is time to turn back . However, Scott was overconfident in his
capacity. Therefore, he basically killed himself and many others by not being there to help. All in all,
there were multiple reasons why eight people died on the mountain, yet the main reason was the
overconfidence in multiple climbers on May 10 and 11 of

Realism In Bronte s Jane Eyre
Bronte s Jane Eyre effectively transcends the genres of literature to depict the emotional and character
development of its protagonist. Whilst no overall genre dominates the novel exclusively, the blending
contributes towards the portrayal of Bronte s bildungsroman (Realisms, 92) as Jane Eyre grapples with
her inner self, and the social expectations of her gender. The novel incorporates Jane s frequent
conflicts, oppression, isolation and self examination as she defends her identity and independence. Set
amongst five separate locations, Bronte s skilful use of literal and metaphorical landscapes, nature,
and imagery, skilfully intertwines with the plot and denotes each phrase of her maturity. To deliberate
these points further, chapters 1 and 23, will be analysed in detail. In addition it will argue how Bronte

Mental Health In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The definition of a stigma is, a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or
person (Oxford Dictionary). In John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, Lennie and Crooks worked very
hard at the farm both physically and mentally. Both men are forced to live partial lives, due to others
diminishing their life worth. Lennie and Crooks, both have to deal with the lives they were born with.
Stigmas oppress people in different ways and are present in many other countries; a person that holds
a stigma must overcome many forms of derision. Mental Health has had a large stigma from the
beginning, many of these come from ignorance. The stigma, myths and misconceptions surrounding
mental illness contribute to much of the discrimination and human rights violations experienced by
people with mental disorders (Ndetei et al., 2007a). (Ngui 1). Many people just do not understand

Analysis Of Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex
The first text we explore in this step is Bonaventure s On Seeing God in his Image . Bonaventure
shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most
important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our
neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which focused
on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping those being
marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the Church as a
community can fight to protect them. The following text comes from Simone de Beauvoir called The
Second Sex, which discusses the ideas of the feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s the
proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in The Second
Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In all of these texts we
are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create unfair rules and regulations
only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group of oppressor thrives off of
alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of solidarity is the only way to
combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown that through solidarity comes
freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God wants for God s people is
inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the more secular texts from King, de
Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only way to fight prejudice is to unite the
people of either side of the problem, and have them work together to make the whole of society a
more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate
seemingly opposing groups. The next theme contingent throughout the step is the benefits of
community. This is similar to the inclusiveness that comes from solidarity, but through community we
can prevent oppression from happening

Generating Creative Ideas for Business Through...

for product to be marketed and test new ideas. The methods are the focus group method,
brainstorming, brainwriting and problem inventory analysis. These methods are best suitable for an
organization that needs expansion in products or services
First is focus group method, focus group is defined as a group of individuals providing information in

Brainwriting is an alternative method to brainstorming that tries to encourage a more uniform
participation within a group. Like brainstorming, it is designed to generate lots and lots of ideas in a
short amount of time. This is method more to writing to convey new ideas for products. It also takes
place in groups where each group member will write their ideas over time.
This method has three rules that must be followed, namely the need to write or carry forward cycle
contributed three ideas in 5 minutes should be written in the form brainwriting then give it to the next
member. This is more of a discussion circle forward the idea of each member. Next rules is following
that members read every idea that was written to serve as an inspiration to be create creative idea, if
there is an idea written on the same form barinwriting, finally, this method requires 6 participants sit
together and helped by a moderator.
Lastly is problem inventory analysis method, problem inventory analysis is a method of obtaining new
ideas and solutions by focusing on problems for certain product categories, customers usually given a
list of known problems for a particular product category and then asked to identify and discuss the
products in a category with specific problems. This will be more effective because it is much easier to

There s a sign near the main entrance of the school that everyone who enters the school can see.
Additionally, it s painted on a wall in the building with all the teachers offices, and on another wall,
which is a fairly common hallway in a classroom building. The mission statement also appears on the
school website. It is visible to everyone, and probably most people are at least aware of it, but beyond
that, it is undetermined how well it is actually communicated to people. If these were the only ways, it
is effortless overlook.
The mission statement does not reflect on anything regarding ethical or legal practices. However,
again based on Chinese culture, these would be assumed or overlooked. In Chinese culture, it seems
that reputation and results are more important than legal and ethical practices, not that everyone or
every business is illegal or corrupt. But regarding education, parents are much more concerned that
their child be given every advantage possible over the millions of other children, and attending a
school that has a reputation of students achieving high exam scores or being given opportunities to go
abroad for college are much more relevant and imperative to them than ethical or legal practices.
WFLS Technology Mission Statement
Wuhan Foreign Languages School does not have a mission statement that specifically addresses their
technology. Because of this, the author decided to create a mission statement for them. The mission

Climate Change in Peru Essay
Peru is a nation composed of heterogeneous ecosystems including the coastline of the Pacific Ocean,
deserts, the Andes Mountains including the glacial regions, and the second largest portion of the
Amazon Forest Basin (US AID, 2011). Its heterogeneity creates such a dire situation for Peru in terms
of climate change and the effects it has on each individual system as well as the effects on wildlife and
human occupants that live in these regions. In Peru, the climate changes that have been taking place
have led to several disastrous outcomes that include not only draught, but have also led to depletion of
the Amazon Rain Forest, an increase in disease, extreme temperature changes, glacial ablation,
extreme weather, and changes in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cirilo Quispe Latorre, the mayor of Cachimayo district recalls how the climate has change just since
he was younger: The rains used to start in October, and we would plant broad beans, wheat, and
potatoes. Now the rains begin around mid December, and we lose more than a month and a half of
growing time. (Hufstader, 2009). Latorre goes on to say that the rains, which once ended in April now
end in March. This significantly diminishes the amount of time that farmers have to produce crops
which in turn has led to decreases in the output of crops in the last twelve years (Hufstader, 2009).
However, according to the USAID report on Peru, annual rainfall percentages have not changed
drastically over the last 40 years. There has been an increase in the coastal regions and highlands
(where most of farming takes place), a decrease in the jungle areas, and little change anywhere else
(US AID, 2011).What has changed though, is the extent of the drought periods which cannot be
alleviated by the intense periods of rain (US AID, 2011). This issue could be helped in the long term
by utilizing more advanced irrigation methods that could store water during the intense rains to help
alleviate some of the burden of the long droughts.
One of the most significant effects of climate change in the region has been the devastating effects of
the melting glaciers. These glaciers often provide an extra source of water for farming regions, storing
water in the rainy season and

Winslow Homer Hero
I did my modern masterpiece on Winslow Homer, and I recreated his piece The Blue Boat. Winslow
created many beautiful oil paintings that were focused around America, and he was able to create
some of the most realistic paintings for his time. In his artwork he painted people, nature, and nature
lighting as they really appear. Before we further discuss my own panting, it s necessary to recap
information on Winslow s career.
Winslow Homer was born in 1836, in Boston, Massachusetts. He and his family lived close to a sea,
and his father was the owner of a company that bought and sold goods from ships that traveled across
the sea. This might of been what inspired Winslow s many sea and boat paintings. While growing up,
Winslow became very interested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I first picked up the book for Winslow, I didn t expect to be inspired by his work. Yet, besides
other artists his artwork stuck out to me, mainly the ones water related. I decided to choose The Blue
Boat, as my modern masterpiece because I felt that it was a combination of his drawings including
people, as well as his drawings of nature and the sea. It was a balance between the types of artwork he
created, and my interest in the sea. When I first brought in the my sketch I thought of using paint, but
seeing that Winslow did use watercolor at one point, I decided to go with that. In the drawing I was
going for a more dystopian feel, so i didn t want to dilute the blue too much. I kept a dark tone to the
piece and created a contrast between the dark colors of the top of the page, and the light colors of the
bottom of the page. To modernize the piece I added buildings, smoke stacks and a Mcdonald s sign to
the background. The piece shows what could happen if pollution gets out of hand, murky lakes and
smoke filled skies. In the piece I replaced the trees with buildings, and with the buildings I tried to
create a visual equilibrium between the two sides of the piece. Throughout the entire time of drawing
and coloring the piece, I enjoyed the challenge of using a new

The Important Role of Confederate Women in the American...
The Important Role of Confederate Women in the American Civil War
Women in the Confederacy had a great impact on the Civil War. They were thrown into totally
different lifestyles ones that did not include men taking care of the land and other businesses. Women
had more control of their lives than ever before. Some took it upon themselves to get involved directly
with the war while others just kept the home fires burning. Whatever roles they played, women
contributed a multitude of skills to the Civil War effort.
The life of a plantation mistress changed significantly once her husband left to join the Southern army.
A majority of them stayed right on the land even if they were rich enough to move to a safer place.
While there, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some, however, were much closer to the battlefield than they would have liked to have been. Lucy
Breckinridge, a nineteen year old girl who lived in the Shenandoah Valley, wrote in her diary how she
could hear the cannons over the mountains. Carrie Berry consistently wrote that her family spent a
good part of two months in the cellar while her home was being bombarded by shells. Another
nineteen year old, Sarah Morgan, from Baton Rouge, went to the levees to watch the battles, even
though it was against her mother s wishes.5 But some women took it a step further: rather than just
watching the men fight for the Southern states, a few women decided to pick up a gun and join the
ranks.
It is not known how many women actually participated in battle; however, the number seems to be
higher than anyone expected. These women played the role of the warrior and literally gave up their
gender to fight. One such case is Amy Clark. She dressed like a man to serve in the Confederate army
with her husband. After his death, she continued her service and was wounded and captured by the
Union. Once the North discovered her true identity, they released her back into the Southern army and
insisted that she wear a dress. Some say that Amy Clark may have worn lieutenant s bars on her
uniform. Another women who dressed as a man to fight was Malenda Blalock, who posed as a brother
to her husband. Another southern female warrior was Madame

This approach caused such problems as damage or loss of the parts what required additional waiting
time for the production on the transformer plant.
2.5. New Demand Management Issues
As the transformer plant has signed a new contract the production volume was expected to increase
significantly. The new added volume would require several operational changes. Moreover, according
to governmental requirements all standard enclosures have to be painted before final assembly what
means one more additional production step
3. A description of the approach management adopted to address the issues raised in the case, if the
approach is described in the case
In the case study, Hammond management doesn t adopt an approach to address the issues raised.
Group 6 or SSKR Consultants suggested the following approaches to be adopted to address the five
issues identified.
Issue 1.
Forecasting Issues within Hammonds Transformer Group
Three problems were identified as Hammonds forecasting issues; the first problem was a forecasting
inaccuracy which caused late deliveries of enclosures from the cabinetry plant in Guelph to the other
side of town to the manufacturing transformer plant. This should be corrected by using shorter
forecasting periods for each of the product ranges during the Collaborative planning, forecasting and
replenishment (CPFR) method

After her biology teacher had died, she had wanted to find the killer thinking that it might be
connected to her mother s murder. To do so she had needed some DNA, Victor fleming had said, Fifty
percent of human DNA is identical to the DNA of a banana (Scarborough, 78). By this quote, it shows
how Erin was so desperate and willing to risk her reputation to find the killer and her father. Another
example is that she had changed in a emotional, and mental way. She had gained this crush on Journey
Michaels, a popular boy at school. She had said, It s not that I don t want to see my friends, It s that I
m missing Journey. I want the freedom to think about him with no distractions (Scarborough, 182).
Before the murder she has had a huge crush on him and would usually only think about him during
school, but after the murder and they had became friends she can t stop thinking about him. By this,
Erin is being taken by her thought and really only want to hang with journey and setting her friends

Characteristics Of Surrey Neighbourhoods
Surrey Neighbourhoods
Throughout Surrey every neighbourhood has a different sense of place which is well defined through
its character which is a fundamental of sense of place in residential communities. Thus making each
neighbourhood a vital part of a truly liveable, modern city(City of Surrey, Surrey communities).
There are six main neighbourhoods in Surrey (Fig 1):
1. North Surrey/Whalley
2. Guildford
3. Fleetwood
4. Newton
5. Cloverdale
6. South Surrey
North Surrey/Whalley

The historic resort community of Crescent Beach is one of South Surrey s most popular attractions.
South Surrey offers connections to the United States through the Peace Arch and Pacific Highway
border crossings which gives a sense of landscape dominated ecological environment and a
memorable destination getaway with a vibrant urban waterfront place which connects memories and
people around the world (Fig 8).
Conclusion
To some extent the sense of place depends on the built form, surrounding features derived from a mix
of natural and cultural features in the landscape, aesthetics and characteristic of the neighbourhood but
a major part depends on the feeling or perception held by people who occupy the place and not by the
place itself and thus makes a place special or unique, authentic or belonging. Places can have a strong
sense of place identity and character by local inhabitants and by many visitors. It is a social
phenomenon that exists independently of any one individual s perceptions or experiences. Surrey
neighbourhoods have distinguishable sense of place which can t be defined by one

How Is Catherine Linton Different From Wuthering Heights
It is a scientific fact that everything adapts: animal, plant, and human. The characters in Emily Brontë
s Wuthering Heights demonstrate in a balanced and entertaining manner the idea that beings must
adapt or be destroyed. Heathcliff shows the refusal to adapt and the resulting destruction. Catherine
Earnshaw Linton demonstrates the difference between outward adaptation and the full adaptation of
the mind and soul. And Catherine Linton effortlessly embodies willingness to change. Wuthering
Heights explores the idea that people must adapt or be destroyed through the characters of Heathcliff,
Catherine Earnshaw Linton, and Catherine Linton. In the character of Heathcliff, the idea that people
must adapt is explored through his relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Heathcliff was unbearably mean to Cathy, she refused to be squashed. She made her own
happiness by planting plants from Thrushcross Grange at Wuthering Heights and reading whenever
she could. She also chose to rebel against Heathcliff s tyrannical rules, even going as far as to fight
him about them. Another key example of Cathy adapting is in her romantic relationships. When she
was forced to marry Linton, she made the best of it, insisting to Heathcliff that, you have nobody to
love you; and, however miserable you make us, we shall still have the revenge of thinking that your
cruelty arises from your greater misery, (page 240) because although she was not happy with Linton,
she knew he loved her. And although Heathcliff wouldn t allow Hareton to be with Cathy, she fought
past that and they fell for each other. In Emily Brontë s Wuthering Heights, the idea of adaptation is
explored through Heathcliff, Catherine Earnshaw Linton, and Catherine Linton. Different manners of
adaptation are explored: refusal to adapt, surface adaptation, and full adaptation. The way that Emily
Brontë developed this idea is well balanced and

Factors Affecting The Airline Industry
Introduction:
The September 11 attacks left a major impact that the airline industry is yet to recover from. Extended
recession and increasing oil prices are the other major factors affecting the growth of the airline
industry. At this scenario, the airlines operating with unoccupied seats make huge losses and
sometimes the airliner even goes bankrupt; for instance, the kingfisher airlines in India has gone
bankrupt due to failure in managing the unoccupied seats and inefficient management in their ticket
pricing strategies. Even the recent disappearances of aircrafts from Malaysian airlines have
unfavorably affected the global airline industry leaving airlines operating with vacant seats.
It is very important for every airliner to create value for their shareholders; ticket pricing is the main
source that an airliner can make revenue from. Therefore, airliners should have strategies that help
them to be sustainable in the industry. I think that my research is on a problem that most of the
airliners are facing today. Especially domestic airliners and the airlines with limited destinations are
making more losses due to improper pricing strategies. This research focusses on creating a value to
the airliner that I will be working for. It also creates value to the shareholders and stakeholders of the
company. As every business is based on the customer satisfaction, my research is achievable if I could
make a good analysis of customers needs and wants.
Most importantly this

I feel that he has the same respect that I have towards him.
The weeks fly by as summer decays. I feel that I have had a successful summer, and I am looking
forward towards next year. As school starts, my availability decreases. I m involved in after school
activities and the store is only open for a few short hours on Saturdays. I work as many Saturdays as I
can throughout the school year. I spend my days off school there as well. I hope that my commitment
to the store shows.
Fast forward to May, the end of my eighth grade year, I m ready to start my three month vacation on a
good foot. I am placed on the payroll with an honest $7.25 wage. Now that I m on the payroll, my
hours are limited. I can t come in whenever I want. But I am feeling optimistic about what this
summer could bring me. I even begin a savings account for my college future.
I wake up at 8:30. My shift begins at 9. I am late. I skip breakfast and frantically bike the three blocks
to work in the brisk morning. Mark s truck is here which is weird because I rarely see him before
noon. I walk in the door and I feel like I am in the wrong place. The cluttered store I felt so
comfortable in, wasn t so cluttered. Many computers and accessories were missing. A corner normally

  • 3. President George Bush Essay George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents, he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States. Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush admired his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in history. George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However, some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader were pre political experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White House. After he attended Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: not a powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction (The New York Times Company). When he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without becoming engaged in policy details (The New York Times Company). • 4. King Ashurnasirpal s Relief Essay The relief, consisted of five panels, functions both as a religious representation as well as imposing the king s power. Stone Panel in Bas relief was once lined the inner walls of the Northwest Palace of King Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud. Nimrud, located on the Tigris River in northern Iraq, was the capital of Assyria during Ashurnasirpal II s reign. The bas relief visually communicates its viewer by possessing a more peaceful but equally imposing iconography, depicting Ashurnasirpal s ritual activities in the company of human attendants and supernatural figures. The stone reliefs were carved in gypsum. Gypsum was a soft stone that was locally available, which possibly represents the king s approachability. In contrast, the reliefs are monumental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All figures were carved in twisted perspective, displaying a frontal torso with a right facing profile head and body. This type of perspective allows the viewer to capture the depiction of the arms as they complete an action. King Ashurnasirpal II appears on right of the panel. He can be identified from his fez type head dress, a symbol of power and prestige. He is depicted with his long hair and square beard, which are both highly stylized. He is wearing a long garment, which exposes his muscular forearms and also his sandaled feet are visible. This portray the toughness of life in Assyria, denoting back to his powerful control. Furthermore, the king stands very stiff and upright, suggesting his rigidness. He is holding a bow in his left hand and two upward pointing arrows symbolizing defense and protection from harm in his right hand that is raised upward. His supreme status was conveyed through the rich decorative details that appear on his shoulder. Taking a closer look, one can see the bull and lion battle. Once again, the symbolic imagery evidently offers the viewer clues to its meaning. The bull and lion represents the Assyrians fierce nature and asserts the king s fighting skills and brutality. The importance of the king is made evident by his activities and position within the scultpte ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Mobile Phones Research Paper The world today is filled with all different type of smart phones and tablets. Technology is developing fast and we don t know where this will leave web designers and developers and how will they proceed in the future. As attached to our phones we are its hard to imagine how young the technology of smartphones really are. In 1908 the first apparent wireless device came when Prof. Albert Jahnke and the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company believed they had industrialized a wireless telephone. Sadly they were accused of fraud. Later the charge was dropped and production of the device never proceeded. In 1918, German railroad systems started to test their own wireless phones on their military trains. Trials began in 1924 and a year later Zugtelephonie A.G. was established to supply train telephony equipment with the first telephone systems being accepted for use in postal and other trains by 1926. On June 17, 1946 the first truly mobile phone service appeared on June 17, 1946 under Bell Labs, which industrialized mobile phones that endorsed users to place and receive phone calls from their automobiles. Martin Cooper, a research executive at Motorola to Joel S Engel of Bell Labs, made the first mobile phone calls from a handheld device on April 3, 1973. That first handheld phone, 1G (First genereation), was 10 inches long and weighed about 2.5 pounds. The prototype presented 30 minutes of talk time on a single charge and took 10 hours to recharge. The majority of homeowners recognizes and have difficulty in deciding between either a deck or a patio. Patio and deck terms often are used interchangeably. In reality, the differences between the two are quite apparent. A patio is an outdoor space sited directly on the ground and may be linked to the house or built in a separate part of the yard. Patios often have concrete bases, and some homeowners utilize stone, tile, pavers, brick or other materials to build the foundation. In most cases patios do not include a rail; they may or may not be sheltered. The deck using high end materials, the labour required to install a deck is less, helping to lessen overall cost. Installation is also a big benefit for choosing a deck. The way a deck is built allows more creativity in location. The actual structure is built above the ground. This means that tree roots, wet ground, even big slopes can be easily overcome without adding significant expenses. Traditionally, the lifespan of a wood structure is about seven eight years if it s not cared for. This average is getting longer with more options coming into the market like composites and all weather stains. Even pressure treated wood is seeing new technology in which use smaller molecules in the stain to get the rich brown colour deeper into the wood; preserving it longer. Remodeling Magazine (2014) released a study that the return on investment for a wood deck is 87 percent, exceeding all indoor renovations. In short, from the cost perspective patios are usually cheaper than decks. The cost of the project will depend upon a variety of factors and these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Copyright Laws Protect Intellectual Property Copyright laws are intended to protect the intellectual properties of writers, musicians, artists, and others. In order for a work to be copyrightable, it must be both tangible, or fixed, and original. There have been many changes made to copyright law throughout time, however, each change has been made in order to further protect a person s intellectual property. In order for a work be eligible to be copyrighted it must fall into one of seven tangible or fixed categories. These categories include literary works, audio visual works, sound recordings, musicals, pantomimes or choreography, pictorial/graphic/sculptural representations, and dramatic works. Architectural works became copyrightable in 1990. There are also several things that cannot be copyrighted. These limited things include titles and names, ideas, works by the United States Federal government, works without authorship or facts, and fashion. A copyright gives the copyright holder exclusive rights to produce copies of their work and sell those copies, to import and/or export the work, to create derivative works based upon the original work, to perform or display the work in a public forum, to transmit or display their works via radio or video, and to transfer these aforementioned rights as whole or in part, to others. • 9. Characteristics Of Caring There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave her hugs and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she decided to call me and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day I think she has more trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can be performed in many different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking with someone that needs a friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and Marin from Geraldo no Last Name are caring to others because they both care for someone that they hardly even know. First off Madeline from Everything Everything is caring for others. One example is That night I only IM with him until 2 A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad day she will. If he has a problem, then he can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because she helps him with life problems because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his problems and think of an answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see what happens not because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). Ballerina Persuasive Speech Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert, promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jeté, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jeté, meaning big throw in French, is used to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the ground. So how does a ballerina stays in the air as if they were hanged mid air? The answer is in the split. But first, we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the past century, America s development of futuristic technologies has surpassed expectations. The tools available today are often looked upon as a major improvement to society but often enough, the drawbacks are not recognized. As Americans are submerged in the influx of technological devices, the ability to restrain from them is mitigated. People prominently enjoy using electronics, specifically television and computers, due to the proximity they hold in their lives. When an object is constantly surrounding someone, he or she often becomes attached to it, finding comfort in its presence. Likewise, when a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the television is always on, simply sitting down for a twenty minute program can lead to a night spent on the couch. However, televisions are not the only culprits contributing to the issue. The accessibility found in cell phones and computers is beyond extraordinary. The knowledge of the world can be obtained with a click of a button or a tap of a finger. The introduction of the internet has revolutionized the way of life for better or for worse. Rather than reading newspapers and books to retrieve information, people resort to the internet for their means. This is entirely justifiable, considering the drastic variation in the time required to access information on each platform. However, smart phones and computers have become the primary way to communicate and interact with the outside world due to their simplicity and agility. The convenience of modern technology is partially responsible for America s obsession with screens. In times of boredom, people often turn to electronics to satisfy their hunger for entertainment. Society has made it acceptable to rely on television and social media for amusement during free time rather than participating in more traditional forms of time pass. Reading books and newspapers has become a burden now that information can so easily be found in the technology that is becoming more and more accessible. Hotel-Booking Market PROMOTIONAL CHANNELS Hotel booking market is heating up its rivalry, as Hotel sales in the U.S. and European online hotel bookings market are projected to increase by 16 percent to $79 billion next year, from $68 billion in 2012. Travel related inquiries on search engines are now second most searched topics, surpassing shopping, according to WordStream Inc., a developer of search marketing software. Competitors for this segment include travel advertisers such as Expedia, TripAdvisor and Orbitz Worldwide. Priceline is the biggest spender in terms of online ad spending. Priceline, an online booking giant, boosted annual ad spending to more than $1 billion. The competition strategy over other booking websites like Expedia and Google have raised questions about the benefits of promoting online versus good old fashion TV campaigning. Online advertising is preferred method today as it provides consumers a quick way to compare prices and complete the transaction all in one step. Online channels recently included social networking services Facebook and Twitter take a majority share of the web advertising market. Second portion of that share is still spent for ads on search sites. With major decline in money spent on TV campaigns, Priceline is one of the companies still heavily vested in TV ads and continues to use that promotion channel to raise brand awareness. Also, in 2013 TripAdvisor, the hotel reviews site, started to broadcast its first TV advertisement in the US proving that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Age Of Reason Thomas Paine Summary Throughout The Age of Reason, Thomas Paine gives several examples for why he is opposed to Christianity. Before I began reading this essay, I was absolutely positive that I was going to disagree with every point that Paine had to make and every opinion that he expressed. It did not take long for me to realize that I had made the wrong assumption. There was more than one occasion while reading The Age of Reason that I discovered I actually agreed with Paine s opinion/belief. This encouraged me to read The Age of Reason once again, but this time with an open mind. I decided that I would also take notes on the similarities and differences between Paine s worldview and mine. I came across my first disagreeance with Paine a few sentences ... I was very surprised that Paine had written these words. I was let down again when I read that Paine did not believe in the way that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God or how he resurrected three days after his death and then ascended into heaven. Paine s reason for not believing these facts about Jesus is simply because evidence never was given. Paine relays the message to me that he will not believe anything unless there is evidence to support the fact or opinion. Paine relies on evidence. This is one of the many ways that Paine s worldview is different from mine. I rely on faith. I have faith that Jesus was placed into Mary s womb by God and that He rose from the grave three days after his death. The next time I find myself agreeing with what Paine believes is when he states, Human language is local and changeable, and is therefore incapable of being used as means of unchangeable and universal information (Timmerman and Hettinga 100). I agree that the human language is not solid and that it cannot be trusted; however, I once again find something wrong with Paine s worldview. Paine did not believe that Jesus had any kind of supernatural abilities. He believed that Jesus was just like any other human being. He therefore comes to the conclusion that Jesus ... Some critics argue this, however, as Auden stating that there is nothing disgraceful in being unknown. The poem is, above all, a satire of the way conformity hinders the individual and leaves ridiculous and solely external distinctions between human beings. Auden presents an allegory in The Unknown Citizen that begins even before the poem itself. The phrase Unknown Citizen appears only once in the title. This term is an immediate allusion to and parody of the Unknown Soldier, especially considering the details of who the poem is dedicated to and the fact that it is found on a marble monument, much like those one might expect to see in Washington, D.C. where the United States is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Unknown Solider is a soldier who cannot be recognized after being found in battle. This sometimes controversial idea can be interpreted to mean that many people die as unknowns because they lived uninfluential lives. By examining Rawl s philosophy, I will agree with his original position, veil of ignorance, and justice as fairness which contains his view of human nature. Then, I will compare and contrase John Lockes differing views of human nature to Rawl s position of human nature and defend possible assertions towards Rawls position. Rawls view of human nature assumes everyone makes decisions based on self interest alone, while making a rational account to the available information around, such as the probability of events and the cost and benefits of those actions based on those events. An example would be skipping a lecture. You would decide if the extra sleep is worth the missed material. His libertarian principles focus on quality in the assignment of basic rights and duties while his equalitarian principles focus on wealth and authority ... only if they result in compensating benefits for everyone (Rawls 12). These grim images virtually turn the vision of Victorian bird imagery on its head revealing that Jane is not a traditional Victorian woman and these bird images depict the affinity Jane has with birds and the conviction to be free once she finds the strength and bravery she needs to take flight on her ... • 35. Short Story Of Little Petey I was making a futile attempt at cooking fish when Sam strutted into the backyard of my house. Well... not my house as my house had been set ablaze during Sam s fruitless battle with Drake Marwin. That word perfectly illustrates Sam... fruitless , otherwise conceited works just as well. Anyhow, Pete is still playing his game that lacks batteries. Batteries as well as a plethora of other amenities have become uncommon throughout the FAYZ, but, thankfully, this does not bother Petey. When I began to struggle to find batteries for Pete s game, I worried that I would be unable to control Pete. It is amazing how Little Pete is able to adapt to the lack of batteries. He somehow just imagines his game. Little Pete is the most powerful person in the FAYZ and his game keeps his powers at bay. I have hypothesized that he manufactured the anomaly we live in today. • 36. Mental Health In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The definition of a stigma is, a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person (Oxford Dictionary). In John Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, Lennie and Crooks worked very hard at the farm both physically and mentally. Both men are forced to live partial lives, due to others diminishing their life worth. Lennie and Crooks, both have to deal with the lives they were born with. Stigmas oppress people in different ways and are present in many other countries; a person that holds a stigma must overcome many forms of derision. Mental Health has had a large stigma from the beginning, many of these come from ignorance. The stigma, myths and misconceptions surrounding mental illness contribute to much of the discrimination and human rights violations experienced by people with mental disorders (Ndetei et al., 2007a). (Ngui 1). Many people just do not understand what it is to have a mental illness; they only know what they hear from others, even that many are far from what it actually is. • 37. Analysis Of Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex The first text we explore in this step is Bonaventure s On Seeing God in his Image . Bonaventure shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which focused on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping those being marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the Church as a community can fight to protect them. One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s the proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in The Second Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In all of these texts we are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create unfair rules and regulations only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group of oppressor thrives off of alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of solidarity is the only way to combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown that through solidarity comes freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God wants for God s people is inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the more secular texts from King, de Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only way to fight prejudice is to unite the people of either side of the problem, and have them work together to make the whole of society a more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate seemingly opposing groups. The next theme contingent throughout the step is the benefits of community. This is similar to the inclusiveness that comes from solidarity, but through community we can prevent oppression from happening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Climate Change in Peru Essay Peru is a nation composed of heterogeneous ecosystems including the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, deserts, the Andes Mountains including the glacial regions, and the second largest portion of the Amazon Forest Basin (US AID, 2011). Its heterogeneity creates such a dire situation for Peru in terms of climate change and the effects it has on each individual system as well as the effects on wildlife and human occupants that live in these regions. Cirilo Quispe Latorre, the mayor of Cachimayo district recalls how the climate has change just since he was younger: The rains used to start in October, and we would plant broad beans, wheat, and potatoes. Now the rains begin around mid December, and we lose more than a month and a half of growing time. (Hufstader, 2009). Latorre goes on to say that the rains, which once ended in April now end in March. This significantly diminishes the amount of time that farmers have to produce crops which in turn has led to decreases in the output of crops in the last twelve years (Hufstader, 2009). However, according to the USAID report on Peru, annual rainfall percentages have not changed drastically over the last 40 years. There has been an increase in the coastal regions and highlands (where most of farming takes place), a decrease in the jungle areas, and little change anywhere else (US AID, 2011).What has changed though, is the extent of the drought periods which cannot be alleviated by the intense periods of rain (US AID, 2011). This issue could be helped in the long term by utilizing more advanced irrigation methods that could store water during the intense rains to help alleviate some of the burden of the long droughts. One of the most significant effects of climate change in the region has been the devastating effects of the melting glaciers. Winslow created many beautiful oil paintings that were focused around America, and he was able to create some of the most realistic paintings for his time. In his artwork he painted people, nature, and nature lighting as they really appear. Before we further discuss my own panting, it s necessary to recap information on Winslow s career. Winslow Homer was born in 1836, in Boston, Massachusetts. When I first picked up the book for Winslow, I didn t expect to be inspired by his work. Yet, besides other artists his artwork stuck out to me, mainly the ones water related. I decided to choose The Blue Boat, as my modern masterpiece because I felt that it was a combination of his drawings including people, as well as his drawings of nature and the sea. It was a balance between the types of artwork he created, and my interest in the sea. When I first brought in the my sketch I thought of using paint, but seeing that Winslow did use watercolor at one point, I decided to go with that. In the drawing I was going for a more dystopian feel, so i didn t want to dilute the blue too much. I kept a dark tone to the piece and created a contrast between the dark colors of the top of the page, and the light colors of the bottom of the page. To modernize the piece I added buildings, smoke stacks and a Mcdonald s sign to the background. The piece shows what could happen if pollution gets out of hand, murky lakes and smoke filled skies. In the piece I replaced the trees with buildings, and with the buildings I tried to create a visual equilibrium between the two sides of the piece. Throughout the entire time of drawing and coloring the piece, I enjoyed the challenge of using a new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even the recent disappearances of aircrafts from Malaysian airlines have unfavorably affected the global airline industry leaving airlines operating with vacant seats.
