The purpose of this project was to see how a website can be improved and be made more appealing and better for its users’. A website was redesigned to understand and distinguish between a good design and bad design, what processes are involved in creating a website and how some designers make wrong choices and end up with a bad design, so that these mistakes can be best avoided in future. The website redesigned was Yvette's Formal Bridal from slide 2 to Slide 3. Overview: what was the purpose of the redesigning What was difficult to implement? Modifications: Modifications made before usability testing: Colors: Borders: Content layout: Search box Reservation and online buying system Navigation: Usability testing carried out and results: Modifications made after usability testing: Background colors, even though the colors used don’t hurt the eyes, the light blue on dark khaki causes some sort of distraction, when searching for the content. Border style used because it makes the site look over crowded The font size of the links can be reduced, because they appear to be some important information not links. The font family used for information could be changed as the fancy right sometimes makes it hard to read the text. The name of the back link “back” was changed to the name of the previous page they visited e.g. If the user visited bridal collection and has clicked on the link of the product details, to go back to the bridal collection instead of “back” as the link they would see “bridal collection” as the link.
