Reddit is a free website that anyone can use, however, there might be an age limit
to sign up to make posts. It’s a lot like a global interest community, so there is a
large exchange of ideas and philosophies, life-hacks, etc. There are subreddits
where writers can collaborate on stories and there are others where people can
work together on projects or research. There is a real time element to a certain
extent. It’s a lot like a new aggregate, but the most popular posts are up voted and
get the most visibility. You could have a front page of cat pictures, or new stories
and updates on days like the Boston Marathon bombing. It varies day to day.
Reddit can be used in the classroom for some new aspects. Teachers can use it to
show popular media to the classroom.
