Q1. What is the selection criteria applied in the selection of a Project Manager?
Answer. One of the most impotent qualities of a project manager is a mature understanding of
the way projects develop. This allows the nature of project activities to be better understood,
problems to be seen in perspective, and needs to be assessed ahead of time. To some extent
this understanding of project development is intuitive, through it clearly also depends upon
specialist knowledge of the project's technology and industry. It can, also be acquired in large
Q2.As a project manager, you will always have projects for which you must procure
hardware, software, or services from outside sources. This process is procurement, and the
professional project manager must have a basic understanding of the procedure so that he or
she can make sure that the organization is getting the right materials at the best cost. To
manage procurement, you need to go through a few processes. Explain these processes.
Answer. The vendor selection process can be a very complicated and emotional undertaking if
you don't know how to approach it from the very start. Here are few steps to help you select
the right vendor for your business.
1. Analyze the Business Requirements
Before you begin to gather data or perform interviews, assemble a team of people who have a
vested interest in this particular vendor selection process. In summary:
 Define the Product, Material or Service
 Define the Technical and Business Requirements
Q3. Discuss the Role of a Project manager in handling conflicts.
Answer. 1. Preventative Strategies
The first step in conflict management is learning how to prevent or minimize conflict. A team
leader has several ways to do that. At the beginning of each project, or each meeting, ground
rules should be developed. These should incorporate processes or behaviors that the group will
allow or prohibit. These tend to be good objective guidelines that remove the leader from the
role of enforcer.
Q4. Describe the structure and content of a CMP.
Answer. A useful document that can assist with your planning efforts is the Contractor
Management Plan (CMP). Creating a CMP will assist your project with defining a strategy for
preparing, awarding, and if necessary, filing your purchased/personal services contract(s).
Purpose
Collaboration and coordination among a wide range of stakeholders - MPO planners, State DOT
Q5. What are the different methods of forecasting in a project?
Answer. Time series
An analysis of history—a time series—can be used by management to make current decisions
and plans based on long-term forecasting. We usually assume past patterns will continue into
the future. Long-range predictions are essential to allow sufficient time for the procurement,
manufacturing, sales, finance, and other departments of a company to develop plans for
possible new plants, financing, development of new products, and new methods of assembling.
Q6. Write short notes on acquiring a Project Team.
Answer. Acquiring Project Team is the process for "obtaining the human resources needed to
complete the project". The main task is to generate the project staff assignments.
 Part of the Executing Process Group
 Child Process of Direct and Manage Project Execution
 Member of Knowledge Area Project Human Resource Management
