2. Step One: Create the website
Create a webpage using wordpress, blogger, weebly.
3. Choose categories or genres that you want to include.
Romance, Science Fiction, Fantasy
Or links that can be updated: author spotlight or new books to the
library.
Create a separate link for each category
List book titles, author, call number and book description
We took reviews from Title Peek on destiny. You could also include
reviews, or links to reviews, or get descriptions from Amazon. Or
write your own, if you’re ambitious enough.
5. Step two: create the QR Codes
Select a QR website generator
http://www.qrstuff.com/
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/
http://goqr.me/
We used qrcode.kaywa.com
6. Create an account with QRCODE.KAYWA.COM (or the generator site you are using)
9. Step Three: Create a Flyer
Cut and paste the qr codes into a word
doc. Add graphics and/or titles
Include the url on the flyer.
10.
11. Step four: Promote!
We distributed flyers to all the teachers to post in
their classrooms.
We also posted them around the library, linked it to
the library’s website, and created a bookmark on all
the library computers.
Other ideas: create bookmarks, incorporate into
orientations, ask teachers if you can do classroom
visits and have kids download the QR scanner (bring
some titles from your list for checkout.)
