2. About the Book:
Gecko wakes elephant (village boss) up and tells
him the problem with fireflies.
Elephant talks to fireflies: flashing there lights.
Fireflies say they do it so others wont step in the
buffalo's poop on the road.
Elephant says keep doing what your doing.
3. About the Book:
The next night gecko came to Elephant again.
Elephant explains why fireflies flash there lights.
Gecko says talk to Buffalo.
Elephant talks to buffalo.
Buffalo says he does it because the rain washes
holes in the road and so he fills them with his
poop.
4. About the Book:
Elephant says keep doing what your doing.
Gecko goes to elephants again the next night.
Elephant explains why the fireflies and the
buffalo do what they do.
Gecko tells Elephant to talk to the rain.

The rain says he makes holes because he has to
rain hard everyday to make puddles for
mosquitoes so they don’t die.
Elephant says keep doing what your doing.
The next night Gecko goes to elephants one more
time.

Elephant explains that:
Rain keeps mosquitoes alive
no puddles no mosquitoes
no mosquitoes no food for gecko

Gecko now understands.
Elephant said “This world is all connected. Some
things you just have to put up with. Now go
home and go to sleep.”
During this Cumulative tale from the Balinese
tradition, Gecko learns that his well-being
depends on that of the entire village... and he
finally goes to sleep, a little wiser.
