This document describes a large, squat, grey and greyish white water bird with short, stout legs, large webbed feet, and a heavy flattened bill. It hunts in flocks, driving fish into shallows by splashing its wings and scooping the fish into an elastic pouch under its bill. From November to April, it nests in large stick platforms built far from water, with several nests in the same tree.
