Global international direct investment flows exceeded $1.4 trillion in 2007, surpassing the previous record level set in 2000. Developed countries received over half of all international direct investment flows in 2007, with the United States remaining the top recipient country. International direct investment flows to developing and transition economies continued to increase rapidly in 2007 and accounted for a growing share of global flows.
