OSM’S PROPOSED WORKING METHOD
Event Health and Safety and Disaster Management
Special Event Organizers have a legal duty to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
and Regulations 85 of 1993 and the SASREA of 2010. To ENSURE that all work undertaken as part of
the Special Event must be controlled in such a way that a legal level of safety performance standards
are established, thereby limiting potential legal and/or business risks.
Our senior management team pinpoints areas of concern and potential problems or situations
before preparing evacuation plans and an instruction document. This will ensure that all key
personnel will be up to date with their responsibilities for crowd management, customer care and
evacuation procedures for your event.
Opiflash Safety Management will do random spot checks throughout the construction phases of the
project, after the completion of the Special Event, there will be a walk-through inspection performed
of the facility, this inspection will be documented and filed.

Disaster Management Plan:
The overall objectives of the disaster management plan are:
>To localize the emergency and, if possible eliminate it, and
>To minimize the effects of the accident on people and property.
Emergency Management Plan:
The primary purpose of the emergency plan is to control and contain the incident and so to prevent
it from spreading to nearby areas. It is not possible to cover every eventuality in the plan and the
successful handling of the emergency depends on appropriate action and decisions being taken on
the spot.
