1. Sugarless Gum

2. EXT. COURTYARD - DAYTIME
A girl is sat leaning against the wall of a building eyes
closed facing the sun. You can hear BIRDS TWEETING and the
sound of FOOTSTEPS approaching. Her face is in shadow as the
sun is blocked out by a figure. The FOOTSTEPS STOP and the
girl opens one eye a slither so you cannot see her eyes.
MARCY
(She has an almost irritated
tone to her voice)
Hey Bonnie do you mind your
blocking my sun.
BONNIE
(She sounds apologetic and a
bit nervous)
Oh ummm sorry can I um sit with
you?
Marcy closes her eye again and SIGHS
MARCY
Sure fine whatever as long as you
get out of my sun.
Bonnie moves next to Marcy and sits down her bag dropping
next to her with a THUD. She then turns to face Marcy, who
still has her eyes closed facing upwards to the sun. Bonnie
turns her face upwards to the sun as well.
BONNIE
(Her voice is calm and almost
distant)
It feels weird doesn’t it ... to be
graduating ... I feel like I’ve
been here so long and have so many
memories that ... it’s like moving
away from your childhood home.
MARCY
(She keeps her voice monotone
and distant)
Well I guess that’s what comes with
going to the same school since you
were three. You spend your whole
life around the same people for so
long that they become like your
family. But, you know, every bird
has to fly the nest at some point,
or you can never move forward.
(CONTINUED)

BONNIE
(She brightens up and is
giggling whilst speaking)
Haha you always were strangely
philosophical.
Marcy begins to GIGGLE along with the other girl still not
opening her eyes. As the LAUGHTER dies down Bonnie looks
down with a slight sadness in her eyes.
BONNIE
(She sounds sad but also
inquisitive)
So do you have any plans for after
we graduate?
MARCY
(She has a carefree tone to
her voice)
Nope not really. I think I’d like
to go traveling maybe, like see the
world or something. I dunno. What
about you? I heard you were going
some prestigious University.
BONNIE
(She seems almost shy about
the subject)
Yeah I got accepted into the
university of Science and
Discovery.
MARCY
(She sounds a lot brighter and
excited)
Well hey that’s great! You always
were unnaturally smart.
The girls LAUGH a little again. Marcy still has her eyes
shut facing the sun.
BONNIE
(with a bright yet slightly
teasing tone)
I’m gonna miss these times, You
know, when we actually get along
MARCY
(sounding a little down and
sad)
We used to always get along just
fine ...
(She giggles slightly
remembering something)

I remember how in middle school you
used to carry around so many packs
of bubblegum that they kept falling
out of your pockets just so you
could share them with everyone ...
but when you found out I couldn’t
have sugar you started carrying
that sugarless gum just so i could
have some too.
Bonnie smiles at Marcy and picks up a rock from the ground
throwing it across to a nearby bin making a CLANGING sound.
BONNIE
(Cheering herself for her good
shot)
Yes! Haha
(still with a bright tone to
her voice)
Hey do you remember that time when
we first started high school and we
got partnered up for science. All
we had to do was make salt
crystals. How you managed to make
such a big explosion is still a
complete mystery to me.
The two girls LAUGH together smiling at the many happy
memories they shared.
MARCY
(with a happy light tone to
her voice)
Haha wow we had so many great times
together. You were like my best
friend for so long.
BONNIE
(with a sad low voice)
So ... why are we not friends
anymore?
Marcy’s eyes shoot open wide revealing her deep red eyes.
she turns to look at Bonnie, who is facing down with a tear
rolling down her cheek. Just then a SCREAMING blond and blue
blur comes flying through the wall with a CRASH BOOM WALLOP
and lands on top of Bonnie hands first into her chest.
MARCY
(outraged)
What the glob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The blond continues to SCREAM at a higher pitch as he
realizes where his hands are.
(CONTINUED)

BONNIE
Ummmm Finn would you mind gETTING
THE GLOB OFF MEEEEE!
FINN
(makes akward noises)
umm da ba gum errrr umm shfrosj
Suddenly Marcy’s fist comes flying at finn impacting his
shocked face with a WOOSH and a CRACK. Finn goes flying once
again back through the hole he had made in the wall. the
girls LAUGH.
FADE TO BLACK
