 In 2000: Creation of a joint program: Master of Distance
Education and E-Learning
 Division of responsibilities with cooperation between
managers
 Around 10 foreign faculty involved: all hired at UMUC
 UMUC Degree, now expanding to a German degree
 A set of courses are developed and staffed by OL
 Several awards (Sloan-C, UCEA, etc.)
 Special accreditation through EFMD-CEL

 Cooperative programs
 Following the model of UMUC’s dual degree
 Additional courses are added to primary HBMeU degrees
and allow students to achieve an MDE degree as well
 Students join ongoing MDE courses
 Students receive HBMeU degree and then UMUC degree

 Starts in Fall 2012 with a probably number of 10-15 students

Distance Education
 Technology in Distance Education: total of 4 courses
 Professional development for Unisa faculty
 Students join ongoing MDE courses

 Started in Summer’2012 with a group of 21 students
