- This project has been on simmer for almost 8 years and now, with the funding generously supplied by the Port of Olympia and cooperation from the City of Olympia, project design is underway with construction scheduled for late summer 2012.
- SPSSEG is continuing to work with People for Puget Sound and Metro Parks to develop design documents to: Replacing the tide gate with fish passage structure Removing the 100m swimming pool and associated parking lot from the shoreline of the lagoon Restoring the lagoon size and orientation to its near-historic footprint as seen in this artists rendering People for Puget Sound recently received a grant from NOAA restore america’s estuaries program to continue design and metro parks is pursuing funding for removal the pool
- We have been working with WA State Parks to remove a 700 long creosote bulkhead with rip rap armament from Penrose Point state Parks. Design is nearly complete and construction is planned for fall 2012 or 2013.
- Midway Creek is a cold water tributary to Goldsborough Creek Access is blocked under the Simpson Railroad and will be restored after 100 years of blockage Fish Passage for juvenile and spawning Coho, excellent wetland and beaver ponds Major contributions from Squaxin Tribe, Simpson Lumber, and Green Diamond Resources
- This project in partnership with the City of Olympia will see the removal a derelict bulkhead and well that once serviced the old caretakers residence at Priest Point Park. We will remove over 100 feet of crumbling bulkhead, decommission the old well and will remove decades of invasive ivy from the bluffs and will replant them native coastal riparian species. The goal of the project is to improve forage fish spawning grounds by restoring natural processes on site to feed the beach which is now starved of sediments.
- Reconstruction of a ditched stream channel to restore natural channel geomorphology and increase in-stream complexity Funding is through the community salmon fund, and the project will be constructed through in-kind work by the Anderson Island Parks District

If you have never been there please make a point to check it out next November, you won’t be disappointed. This past August we hosted our first Kennedy Creek SPLASH. Planned as a fundraising event for Kennedy Creek, attendees, enjoyed live music, libations, shellfish and decadent desserts. SPLASH was a great success and is bound to become an annual event. Look for the announcement this spring and get your tickets early! We hope to see you there.
