Criminal identity theft occurs when someone who is
arrested uses stolen IDs to make law enforcement
officials believe they are someone else.
4. Identity Cloning
Identity cloning can occur when someone wants to
conceal their own identity by using someone else’s
information. A typical example is someone who uses a
false Social Security number to apply for or begin a new
job.
5. Medical Identity Theft
Medical identity theft happens when someone uses
another person’s ID or information to make or obtain
medical insurance claims.
6. Financial Identity Theft
Financial identity theft occurs when someone uses
another person’s ID or information to access that
person’s financial information, such as a bank account,
credit card info, etc. Obtaining credit by the use of
someone else’s ID or information is also considered
financial identity theft.
7. Synthetic Identity Theft
Synthetic identity theft is probably the most recent
forms of identity theft. Synthetic identity theft occurs
when someone uses multiple peoples’ ID or information
to create a new identity altogether.
