The plot carried out to get Rs.30 million after abducting the six year old girl from Trincomalee and later found murdered had been to raise money to begin a radio station for the TMVP reveals investigations carried out by the police. It has been revealed to the police that Janarthan, a local leader of the TMVP in Trincomalee, Karan, a member of TMVP, Oswin Mervin Rinawushan, a media graduate of an Indian university and a member of TMVP and Reginald, a son of a Police WPC were involved in the murder of the girl and all have been taken into custody. Oswin Mervin Rinawushan, the main suspect of the murder is a front line member of the TMVP and is a resident of Nithyapur in Trincomalee. After taking him into custody the police had tried to take him for a medical examination. While he was being taken to hospital he had tried to flee after biting the neck of a police officer. In the shooting carried out by the police to prevent him from running away the suspect had been killed. Lasanthe, the police officer who was injured when the suspect tried to escape has been admitted to Trincomalee Hospital. The girl who was abducted to get the ransom is a six year old student in grade one of St. Marys Girls’ School at Trincomalee. The abductors have telephoned the girl’s mother Reggie Thiruwerani and the father Jude Reggie, who is employed in Qatar, several times asking a ransom of Rs.30 million to release the girl. However, the father had negotiated with the abductors and had brought down the ransom to Rs.1 million. The father had been able to recognize the computer technician from his voice when he was negotiating. Police suspect the girl was murdered as the father was able to recognize one of the abductors. Mervin who was killed by the police shooting had worked as a watcher in a private company though having a Diploma in IT. He has had a permit to begin a private radio channel and had had discussions with the head of the TMVP office at Orrshill in Trincomalee. According to the police the girl had been abducted to raise money to start the new radio station. After abduction the girl had been taken to TMVP office at Orrshill where her mouth, hands and legs were bound with plastic tape. The police suspect that the girl was murdered by the suspects by strangling her to prevent them being identified. The body of the girl was found in a sack abandoned in a drain at Sarada Street in Trincomalee town on the 13th.
