2. • Born in Oklahoma City on
January 16th, 1979, James
William Walker, now known
for his talents as an American
professional golfer, started
playing golf at a young age.
• He attended Baylor
University in Texas after high
school, where he played golf
on the varsity level and
quickly turned professional in
2001 at the young age of 22.
3. • Jimmy Walker is played on
the Nationwide Tour in the
years 2003-2004, where he
won two professional events
for his first time at the
Chitimacha Louisiana Open
and the BellSouth Panama
Championship.
4. • He ended the year
2004 as the Player of
the Year honors
during the
Nationwide Tour.
5. • After earning his PGA Tour
card, Walker was only able to
play for a limited amount of
time in 2005 due to injuries.
• For the next few years he
struggled to meet successful
season at the PGA Tours, and
went back to the Nationwide
Tour in 2007, finishing with a
third title to his name at the
National Mining Association
Pete Dye Classic.
6. • With a rough start to his career after being injured,
Walker improved greatly in 2009, finishing with a T5 at
the Turning Stone Resort Championship at the PGA
Tour and ranked 125th on the money list.
7. • In 2010, his ranking on the
money list jumped to 103,
and in 2011 he enjoyed a
great PGA Tour season,
where he had three 4th/T4
finished and finished 68th
in the FedEx Cup
standings.
8. • The years 2010-2014
mark the height of
Walker’s golf career
thus far.
• In 2012, he made 25
cuts from the John
Deere Classic, later
finishing in T2, T3,
and T4 in the 2013
Memorial
Tournament with over
$2 million in prize
money.
9. • In 2014, Walker was entered in the world’s top
50 golfer for the first time.
• He won his maiden PGA Tour event after nine
years and 188 PGA Tour starts.
• Shooting 62-66, Walker won by two strokes to
Vijay Singh, a highly talented golfer.
10. • This win gave Walker the opportunity to place in the Hyundai
Tournament of Champions, where he finished T21.
• In January 2014, Walker won his second PGA Tour at the Sony
Open, where he birdied four out of six holes and shot a final round
of 63 to beat Chris Kirk by one stroke.
11. • Walker’s career continues to grow, despite his loss in a sudden-death
playoff at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in 2015.
• After this loss, Walker won the Sony Open for a second time with another
63 strokes, making him a very noteworthy golfer in the community.
12. • Now, Walker lives in San
Antonio and has moved
into the world’s top 10
golfers after earning his
fifth PGA Tour win at the
Valero Texas Open.
