Professor of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University
Sweden. Director of the Uppsala Centre for Sustainable
Development. PhD from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New
Delhi in 1991, and since then he has been teaching at the Uppsala
University, Sweden.
He has been a Mac Arthur Fellow at the University of
Chicago, visiting fellows at UN Research Institute for Social
Development, Geneva; University Witwatersrand, South
Africa, University of Science, Malaysia, University of British
Columbia and University of Maryland. He has written extensively
on environmental security and international water sharing issues.
He has also worked as a consultant for various UN
agencies, OSCE, NATO, EC, IISS, Government of Singapore and
Government of Sweden.

3. Engineer, Amer Kamal
“I am motivated by the fact that it’s important to award
work that also serves the mankind and that has a goal-
set of becoming valuable for everybody. It is a
motivating factor to award a behaviour and history
shows that you get back what you give.”
Amer Kamal is a Civil Engineer, DTU – Denmark’s Technical
University. He runs his own business retail branch with several
business concepts, and is a business concept developer. He
carries out Leadership education; Crisis management and
Change management within project organization. He is head
of building projects at the largest entrepreneur company in
Denmark. Amer Kamal is also a member of Rotary, Water and
Food Award board.

4. Consultant Ellen Buch-Hansen
I am pleased to be able to support this very worthwhile
initiative promoting vision and inspiration for people
world-wide to improve their conditions.
Ellen Buch-Hansen has a M.Sc. Human Geography, Sociology and
Anthropology. She has a broad experience record working with
development issues in very different contexts: in a Danish NGO, in a
local Kenyan NGO, as consultant and advisor and in Danida/Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, from which she recently retired. Ellen Buch-
Hansen is also member of Roster for Peace and Stability Response.
She has working experience from a range of countries in Africa and
Asia. Her areas of experience include Civil Society
development, Water and Sanitation, Agricultural Sector, Natural
Resource Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Gender, Human
Rights & Democracy, Disaster Response and finally Sustainability as a
cross cutting issue in all activities.

5. Director, Jørgen Schlundt
Jørgen Schlundt is Director at the National Food
Institute, Technical University of Denmark. He has a Veterinary
degree as well as a Ph.D. from the Copenhagen
University, Denmark. Jørgen Schlundt has worked at the
Bacteriology Department in the Veterinary Research
Laboratory, Harare, and at the Environmental Protection Agency
laboratories in the Research Triangle Park, USA.
He was Director of the Department of Food Safety and Zoonosis at
the World Health Organization, Geneva for more than 10
years, and has participated in a number of international scientific
bodies, including OECD expert groups, WHO and FAO Expert
Consultations, EU Scientific Committees, and the FAO/WHO Codex
alimentarius Commission. In 2007-2012 Jørgen Schlundt was
acting as well as the Deputy Director for the WHO Department of
Nutrition.

6. Director, Jonas Christoffersen
Jonas Christoffersen is Doctor of Law and Executive
Director, Danish Institute of Human Rights. He has a background
as an associate professor in human rights and specialized in
national and international human rights.
From 2006-2007, Jonas Christoffersen was an acting judge at the
Eastern High Court. Previously he was employed as a deputy judge
at the Supreme Court of Denmark.
Jonas Christoffersen has also been a member of the board of DIHR
and has for years been very active in the public debate on human
rights.

7. Consultant Henning Saaboell

Steve Pickering is a management consultant with B-innovation
Renewables in Copenhagen, Denmark engaged in establishing
international co-operation in the field of marine renewable
energy. He is from London, England and is bank-educated. He is
vice-chairman of ShelterBox Denmark, the Danish affiliate of a
leading disaster relief NGO and is a Past President of Copenhagen
International Rotary Club.
