We invested in 10 different companies. Here they are listed with their ticker symbol. For our slideshow, we picked 5 to present information about. The five we picked are Apple, Google, Monster, Coca Cola, and Urban Outfitters.
Apple Inc was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs. Since then apple has produced many consumer electronics such as iPhones, iPads, iPods, and Macintosh computers. When we first invested in this stock the cost per share was $127.48, but now the current cost per share is $125.32.
Google was first founded in March 1998 by Larry Page an Sergey Brin. It was originally started as a research project and later became a popular world wide web based search engine. Currently anyone who has access to internet can use it for web based research. When we frist invested in this stock it was $540.76 per share and now it has dropped down to $535.53 per share.
In the 1930s, Hubert Hanson and his three sons first started selling juices under the brand name Hansen’s. Then in 2012, it was agreed to change the name to Monster Beverage Corporation. Monster sells energy drinks, natural sodas, and fruit drinks including Hubert’s Lemonade and Peace Tea. When we bought this stock, the original price per share was $142.03. Now the price per share is lower at $135.66.
In 1886, Dr. Pemberton, a pharmacist, created a soft drink now known as Coca-Cola. At the time, this drink was served at soda fountains and was believed to cure many diseases. Now, Coca-Cola produces many soft drinks including, Coke, Sprite, Fanta, Dasani, Minute Maid, and PowerAde. We bought our shares at $44.21, and the current price per share is $44.78.
Richard Hayne founded Urban Outfitters in 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company is known for its hipster culture and fashion. Urban Outfitters sells clothing, footwear and houseware. We bought our shares for $39.40 per share. Currently, the price per share is $43.97.
Our total equity was $99,913.36. This means that we paid this much for all of our stock shares. We paid this much for investments in 10 different companies. If you look in the table, you can see how much we invested in these 5 companies. Our current cash balance is $48,371.91. This is the money we have left to spend investing in stocks.
These are our percent changes in our investments of the 5 companies we presented in this slideshow. We found the percent change by subtracting the old price per share from the current price per share and then divided by the old price per share. The percent changes that are negative mean we bought the stock for a higher price than it is priced now. The company that did us best was Urban outfitters. The company that did us worst was Monster.
