4. Something About Agra
• Agra is an ancient city located on the Yamuna River in India, within the state of Uttar Pradesh. It
achieved prominence as the capital of the Mughal sovereigns from 1526 to 1658 and remains a major
tourist destination, because of its many splendid Mughal-era buildings, most notably the Taj Mahal.
Agra is famous for handicrafts products such as Inlay work on Marvel, Leather work, Footwear,
Brasswear, Carpets, Jewelry, Zari and Embroidery work.
• A pleasant town with a comparatively slow pace, Agra is known for its superb inlay work on marble and
soapstone by craftsmen who are descendants of those who worked under the Mughals. The city is also
famous for its carpets, gold thread embroidery and leather shoes.

• History:

7. Agra Fort
• History:
1. Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site
located in Agra, India. The fort can be more
accurately described as a walled city
2. This fort was built in red sandstone with its
magnificent palaces, halls of public/private
audience and beautiful gardens. This is where
Emperor Shah Jahan was kept under house
arrest by his third son Aurangzeb and spent
the last year of his life viewing the Taj Mahal
from across the river Yamuna

8. Agra Marble Factory
• History:
1. Visit a marble factory to see the beautiful
inlay of precious and semi-precious stones and
the amazing intricate craftsmanship in the
marble.
2. Most of the marble work at the factory is the
pietra dura, or marble inlaid with gemstones.
3. The tour takes you through the production
from start to finish.

9. Something About Jaipur
• Jaipur also popularly known as the Pink City, is the capital and largest city of the Indian
state of Rajasthan. Founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the
ruler of Amber, the city today has a population of more than 3.9 million.
• Jaipur is one of the finest planned cities of India, located in the semi-desert lands of
Rajasthan. The city which once had been the capital of the royalty now is the capital
city of Rajasthan. The very structure of Jaipur resembles the taste of the Rajputs and
the Royal families. At present, Jaipur is a major business center with all requisites of a
metropolitan city.

11. Amber Fort
• History:
1. The Amber Fort was constructed by Raja Man
Singh I in 1592
2. The architecture of the place carries the
essence of Mughal and Indian style of building.

inside it. The palace is marked with stunning

12. Jal Mahal Palace
• History:
1. Jal Mahal Palace, located in the middle of
Man Sagar Lake, is around 6.5 kms from Jaipur
City.
2. The palace was built for relaxation of the
royal family and looks mesmerizing in the
monsoon.
3. One could have great views of the lake from
Nahargarh Fort and from the surrounding
places.
• Other Information: Entry not allowed but
visitors can see the palace from roadside

13. City Palace
• History:
1. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the early 18th
century, the monolithic City Palace is an
architectural feather in the delightful cap of
Jaipur. A haunt where the Royal family had
stayed for centuries, the palace today is a
much visited tourist spot in the region
2. It occupies a large area divided into a series
of courtyards, gardens and buildings.
3. Some of the beautiful buildings in the City
Palace complex include Mubarak Mahal,
Govind Devji Temple, Chandra Mahal, Diwan-i-
Khas, Diwan-i-Aam, Pritam Niwas and Sawai
Man Singh II Museum.

14. Hawa Mahal
• History:
1. Hawa Mahal is a perfect example of Rajput
architectural excellence. Built by Sawai
Pratap Singh the place is also known as
“Palace of Wind.”
2. The palace has around 953 windows made of
pink sandstone. These windows are called
'Jharokhas'.
3. The Hawa Mahal was built for the women who
were part of the royal family. The ladies used
the windows to view the outside world while
resting themselves in the comfort of the
household.
