“Susan was a wonderful colleague of mine at the Broome County Public Library. She offered
assistance to the library patrons in every way possible: locating books; helping with the computers;
providing overall reference information. Drawing upon her own love of reading, Sue was invaluable at
providing reader's advisory and consistently prepared pamphlet bibliographies for patron use. Susan
would schedule individual appointments for computer training as well as teach formal computer
classes. I looked forward to the hours we were scheduled to work on the reference desk together, as we
both understood the "team approach " to providing reference service. Her presence at the Broome

“Susan is a great asset to the Reference staff of the Broome County Public Library. She is very patient
with patrons and teaches weekly computer classes to people with little or no computer skills. Susan is
also a board member of Literacy Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties. As well as being a board
member, Susan actually volunteers as a teacher and has spent countless hours with her students. One
student was actually able to read the Driver's Manual and passed her driver's license exam because of
