Biography




Name          : Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid
Nationality   : Iraqi-British
Birth         : October 31, 1950 (age 62), Baghdad
Education     : 1968 - 1971 Trained Maths at the American University of Beirut
                1972 - 1977 Studied architecture at the Architectural Association school
Practise      : Joined OMA (office of metropolitan architecture) and became a partner
                (1977).Own practice 'ZAHA HADID office' (from 1980).
Style
Zaha Hadid's style is boldly contemporary, organic and innovative.

The architect pushes design through new technology and materials and never does
ordinary.

She was inspired by Yohji Yamamoto and his asymmetry

Her creations are more to do with topography and landscape, emulating a natural
form

Aswell as creating architecture the architect is a celebrated painter, designer of
furniture and interior products + fittings such as bowls and chandeliers.

Her favorite color is black. But with different textures.
MAXXI
The concrete walls define the
exhibition galleries and determine
the interweaving of volumes




                                         The transparent roof modulates natural
                                         light. The roofing system complies with the
                                         highest standards required for museums
                                         and is composed of integrated frames with
                                         devices for filtering sunlight, artificial light
                                         and environmental control
Total site area: 29,000 m2
Exterior spaces: 19,640 m2
Interior spaces: 21,200 m2
Display space: 10.000 m2
Bridge Pavilion




The Bridge Pavilion was constructed for the Expo 2008 in Zaragoza (Spain) as one of its main
landmarks. It is an innovative 270-metre-long covered bridge that imitates a gladiola over the
river Ebro. The bridge a multi-level exhibition area with expected 10,000 visitors per hour to
frequent the Pavilion of the world exhibition.

Hadid chose fibre glass reinforced concrete
from Austria to envelope the bridge. She
covered the outer skin of the building with
29,000 triangles of fibre C in different
shades of grey




                                              The building was purchased by
                                              the local savings bank Ibercaja to
                                              use it as a site for expositions.
London Aquatics Centre
The London Aquatics Centre is an indoor facility with two 50-metre (160-foot) swimming
pools and a 25-metre (82-foot) diving pool in Olympic Park at Stratford, London, it was one
of the main venues of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Paralympics. After
significant modification the centre is due to open to the public in 2014.
Other works
In 2007, Zaha Hadid designed the Moon
System Sofa for leading Italian furniture
manufacturer B&B Italia.




                                            She has also undertaken some interior work in
                                            the Mind Zone and Feet zone at the Millennium
                                            Dome in London
