Define perception, emotional intelligence and its
impact in one’s personal and professional life?
PERCEPTION:-
Perception is an intellectual process where an individual organizes and intercepts his sensory impressions to give
meaning to the environment. A perceptive person is informed, appraised, aware, sharp and observant.
Perception uses all fire senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell to create images and produce a behavior.
While perception is an intellectual process or mind-game, the results produced are very real and not
imaginary. Perception differs from person to person and time to time. A person with negative perception about
an event may suddenly develop a positive perception one preparation and awareness enters into his conditioning.
Perception triggers action, emotions and thoughts. Positive perception creates positive thoughts and actions
while negative perceptions create failure.
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:-
Emotional intelligence is a type of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor one’s
own intelligence related to emotions and also respect other people’s emotions and use this information tio guide
one’s thinking and actions. Emotional intelligence is a combination of inter-personal intelligence and intra-
personal intelligence.

While inter-personal intelligence deals with the ability to understand other people, intra-personal intelligence
is the ability to turn within an understand one’s own feelings and behavior.

2. SELF-AWARENESS:-
Recognizing feelings as these happen.
Getting to know the self in relation to feelings.
MANAGING EMOTIONS:-
Managing emotions rather than becoming an emotional hostage. Taking control
over fear, anxieties, anger, anger, sadness.
SELF MOTIVATING:-
Choosing and guiding emotions to achieve goals by emotional self-control, curbing
impulses and delaying gratifications if need be.
EMPATHY:-
Becoming sensitive to other’s feelings. Taking other people’s personality into account and
treating them with respect.
HANDLING AND BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS:-
Managing one’s own emotions and the emotions of the other people for social
competence and skills.

Emotional intelligence has various applications. However, the most significant application
is to understand, hardness, improve and use one’s own emotions, feelings and moods to
create a positive result in human interactions.
IMPACT ON PERSONAL LIFE:-
An emotional competent person has much better relationships. He/She has learned to manage
his/her impulses and is capable of being more tolerant with other people. Another personal benefit of
emotional intelligence is that the person is better prepared to accept changes. The emotionally intelligent
person has learned to cope with change because he/she has developed the skills to do. One more personal
benefit of emotional intelligence is a happier and more productive life. The emotionally intelligent person
has a greater capacity to solve problems and to make more responsible decisions.
3. IMPACT ON PROFFESSIONAL LIFE:-
One way in which emotional intelligence can help us be betterprofessionals is because by being able to
manage our emotions. We can think more clearly, and this is extremely important to do a good job. One
more benefit of emotional intelligence in our profession is in the area of conflict resolution. If we can
manage our emotions, then we will be able to figure out ways in which conflicts can be effectively solved.
Managing the stress created by the demand of today’s job is another benefit of EI. A much better
service to the customer, more synergy, empathy and a highly effectively performance in our jobs are
other benefits of EI in our professional lives.
