7. The Lord’s
Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed
be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will
be done, on earth as it is in heaven;
give us this day our daily bread; and
forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive
them that trespass against us; and lead
us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. Amen.
8. Bearing the hurt of other people
without retaliation is, without a
doubt, the MOST IMPORTANT AND
THE MOST DIFFICULT STEP IN
BECOMING LIKE JESUS CHRIST
because it often involves being
misunderstood.
11. On the cross, he not only carried
our sins but also ENDURED
ENORMOUS ABUSE FROM THE
PEOPLE WHO WERE RIGHT
THERE…MOST OF WHOM HE
HEALED AND FED.
12. Matthew 27:39-
44
His response:
―Father, forgive them for they do
not know what they are doing.‖
13. 1 Peter 2:23
They called Him every name in
the book and He SAID
NOTHING BACK.
14. He shut up
He suffered silence
with His intent to let God
set things right
He yielded His right to
get even
15. But HE had opportunity to tell
them who He is and defend
Himself a bit.
16. He absorbed the hurt
He put up with the pain
He responded to evil
with good
17. TRUTH:
In life, you are going to be
hurt—whether
INTENTIONALLY or
intentionally
unintentionally!
UNINTENTIONALLY!
18. YOU CAN ONLY LEARN TO
FORGIVE WHEN
SOMEBODY HAS
HURT
YOU.
19. Tips:
1) Remember that God has
FORGIVEN me. (Ephesians 4:32)
forgiven
God will never ask you to forgive
anybody more than you have
already been forgiven by Him.
20. Tips:
2) God is in control. ….
CONTROL.
He will use it for the good of your
life.
21. Joseph the Dreamer
siblings disliked him
sold him into slavery
falsely accused of rape
thrown into prison
40 years of his life went down,
down, down.
23. Memory Verse
Genesis 50:20
―You meant to hurt me, but God
turned your evil into good to
save the lives of many people,
which is being done.‖
24. We are more like beasts when we
kill, more like men when we
judge; more like God when we
forgive.
– William Ward
25. GETHSEMANE
– experience of trouble (trust)
DESERT
– experience of temptation (obey)
CROSS
– experience of trespass (forgive)
26. Romans 8:17
Now if we are children, then we
are heirs—heirs of God and co-
heirs with Christ, if indeed we
share in his sufferings in order
that we may also share in his
glory.
27. Philippians 2:5
In your relationships with one
another, have the same mindset
as Christ Jesus.
28. Conclusion
This is spiritual maturity. Your
greatest testimony as a believer
is how you handle hurt. Do you
respond like Jesus did? Do you
suffer in order to save others?
29. Reflection
1) Have you talked and
released forgiveness to those
who have hurt you?
2) Have you apologized to the
person whom you have hurt?
30. Action
Are you hurting now?
Are you planning to retaliate?
Have a spiritual partner pray
with you about this.
