It’s helpful to understand the different processes of the cycle when learning what an IT Consultant does and what a career may entail. These are the stages that the company would go through to get the app out to market with IT consultants working on each stage.
PSOs operate to tight timescales, accurate deliverables, and high quantity demands. Activities include:

Stakeholder reporting and managing

Post project review and analysis
Business Analysts are responsible for understanding and documenting business requirements from both users and stakeholders. Activities include:
Identifying and documenting requirements from key business users

Preparation and delivery of user training and support

Illustrating workflows and processes
Developers focus on either Java or .NET. Activities include:

Business Test Analysts explore applications from an end user perspective so that user experience can be enhanced.

Link to course: Maths graduates have to be creative and open to different ways of solving problems - Not always just one way to answer a question.
Link to stream: As an IT Consultant, things don’t always fit together, but they have the perseverance and determined mind-set in order to work things out. For example, as a production support consultant, when things go down, they have to overcome what has gone wrong as well as communicate back to the team.
Using software to formulate solutions to mathematical problems:
Link to stream: You will have probably come across SPSS, which is a statistics software, and MatLab which teaches coding knowledge. Through using these systems you will be able to apply your technical knowledge to other scenarios and systems. This applies in the Development context where you will be directly developing in software but also on the business streams such as in PSO where you will be using Microsoft Project and MS Visio.
