Candy Crush, Pet Rescue Saga, Farmville… These are just the first three that come to mind. And if you’re on Facebook, I’m sure you’ve heard of them as well. Business owners beware, however – they are very addictive and highly time consuming. If you’re trying to grow your business. it’s probably time to say goodbye to Facebook games.

Say Goodbye to Facebook Games
Candy Crush, Pet Rescue Saga, Farmville… These are just the f irst three
that come to mind. And if you’re on Facebook, I’m sure you’ve heard of them
as well. Business owners beware, however – they are very addictive and
highly time consuming. If you’re trying to grow your business. it’s
probably time to say goodbye to Facebook games.
I will admit that I am NOT going to say goodbye to Facebook games. Why?
Because I know how to limit my time on them. Quite honestly, my time playing
Candy Crush or others is limited to a f ive minute break during the day and
during a 10-15 minute break af ter business hours. They are how I get my
mind of f business f or a couple minutes, and give myself a break. But I have,
in the past, f allen victim to their addictive quality.
Nine + months pregnant and working f or myself , I f ound myself playing
Candy Crush rather than doing work. And boy, did the bank account balance
show it. My billable hours plummeted like a rock f alling to the bottom of the
ocean. I knew I had to do something – FAST!
If you’re struggling with your Facebook game addiction during the business day, I have a few
suggestions for you…
1. Use Facebook as your business only. To do this, push the gear button in the upper right corner (if you’re
using Facebook on your computer) and select “Use Facebook as (insert your business name here). When using
Facebook as a page, you can no longer see the game notif ications.
2. Uninstall the games from your mobile devices. Yes, it will be painf ul. Will it kill you? No
3. Turn off game notifications within Facebook. Yes, you can do it… And you should.
4. Give yourself a time or game limit. For instance, 15 minutes on Farmville (TOPS!) or two rounds of Candy
Crush, and that’s it! Don’t tell yourself you can af f ord f ive more minutes or one more round. All those extras
add up, and are greatly impacting your revenue – even if you don’t want to admit it.
I would like to give you a 5th recommendation f or how to say goodbye to Facebook games however I don’t
have one. And honestly, since severely cutting back on my own game time I’ve gotten enough (new) client work
to keep me of f Candy Crush f or good!
Do you have any recommendations for how to cut back or eliminate your game time? Please share
your ideas in the comments section below!
