1. ‘The Roommate’

2. Genre
• The second film poster I chose to use was ‘the
roommate’ I chose this as it was also a
thriller/horror genre and knew it would have a
lot of inspiration when coming to doing my own
film poster as it was the same genre too .

3. Mise-en-scene
• The aspects of his film poster is mainly the back
ground picture of the college, haunted as it looks
gives off the impression that it will be spooky in that
setting immediately, in comparison to the other film
poster where the setting was not given and showed
more action, here the film poster has used any
effects in blurring the people and focusing on the
women in the centre, she is the main one as you can
tell because there are no other characters present,
having the atmosphere of the whole poster being
bright shows that it is all normal but she is not.

4. Text
• The text s used are of the same font and colour
however, the title is in red to show fear and
danger additionally, it is named ‘the roommate’
with a college in the background and easily
shows that the roommate is the evil one and
also, it may also be the character in the centre
too from the straight face she has put on. The
text size is smaller on the work ‘the’ but bigger
on ‘roommate’ although all are in capitals .This
may have been used to show dominance in the
work ‘roommate’ itself.

5. Advertising
• Moreover, the smaller text is in grey yet the phrases at
the top are bolder and the fact of using a question shows
it is spooky and that weird things will have happened
within the college and the girl in the centre may have
something to do with it too. I think using the question at
the top and statistics I an excellent way of advertising the
film and lets the audience want to find out what happens
which provokes them to watching it too. The last line
were it says ‘in theatres coming soon’ allows the viewer
the most significant information in them being more
ware of hen it will come out and letting them tell others
about it too.
• The forest background also adds to the spooky feel even
though it is not dark .
