The excretory system removes waste from the blood. The kidney filters blood, removing urea and excess water. The ureter carries urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder, where it is stored until the urethra releases it from the body. Each kidney contains millions of nephrons that filter blood and regulate water balance and pH levels to maintain homeostasis.
