2. INTRODUCTION
TennesseeValley AMBUCS is a non–profit organization that
reaches out to children and others with disabilities, to
create mobility and independence through AmTryke
therapeutic tricycles.
AMBUCS was founded in 1922 in Birmingham,AL. Sue
Haywood, PT, designed the AmTryke therapeutic tricycle in
1989.
Huntsville TennesseeValley AMBUCS chapter was formed in
June 2009 by a team of regional therapists and local
business owners to provide children in the TNValley
Region who are of limited financial means, access to the
AmTryke therapeutic tricycle.
HSV-TNValley AMBUCS goal is to remain a totally
volunteer based organization to preserve all funds raised
for physically challenged

3. AMTRYKES PROGRAM
• Creates Mobility
• AmTrykes are adapted to each child’s specific
disability whether he/she is limited by Spina
Bifida, Down Syndrome,Autism, Cerebral Palsy
or other mobility impairment.
• TherapeuticValue
• Children with mobility limitations are often
dependent on others for movement.The
physical aspect of cycling provides therapy in an
enjoyable venue, improves motor skills.
promotes independence, and builds self-esteem.
• Societal Integration
• Traditionally most of these children have been
forced to participate in physical activities from
the confines of their wheelchairs or walkers.
AmTryke offers the benefit of integrating these
youngsters with their peers during normal
recreational activities.
