Yellowstone: Nature's Wonder in America's First National Park
1. Yellowstone National Park
By: Taylor Williams
Waterfalls tumble and dance in the canyon of gold. In Yellowstone
National Park mud puddles boil and mountains smoke, as nature's creatures run
wild and free. Yellowstone is amazing! Lose yourself in the wonder of nature,
deep canyons, stunning wildlife and steaming geysers.
Yellowstone was established on March 1, 1872. It is a great peace of land,
there are so many land features they almost have all the features of the world
in one park! Whats really outstanding is that Lewis and Clark created
Yellowstone because they realized how amazing it was. It became the first
national park ever in the United States.
Yellowstone has many geysers, one of them is called Old Faithful which is
located in North Western Wyoming. One of 200 geysers in the park commonly
erupt every hour. The park has 6 species of reptiles. It also has 311 recorded
species of birds and 148 of them are nesting birds. As weather gets warmer,
moose and other beautiful animals animals will have plenty to eat because of all
the plant life.
The Yellowstone region had been a place of battles many times in
the past. About 500 tourists visited the first year the park opened. The
early explorers were excited by Yellowstone's marvels. Reese Creek,
Montana is the lowest point in Yellowstone which is 5,282 feet deep. The
highest point there is 11,358 feet high. The coldest it's ever been in the
park is -66 degrees Fahrenheit. The hottest it's ever been is 98 degrees
Fahrenheit.
Some of the challenges the park faces are that they need more
people to work there. The park workers can look after the animals as
much as possible and try to keep them as healthy as possible. There
are so many bison in Yellowstone. The park workers do not know what
to do with all of them. They are also trying to control the diseases the
bison spread to cattle in Yellowstone national park. One of the ways to
do this is to vaccinate the bison.
2. Yellowstone is larger than Rhode Island and Delaware mixed
together. That's why so many animals and plant life are in the park.
There are 3,472 miles of Yellowstone Park and every inch of it has at
least one thing that will blow your mind. There are also 2,500 linear
feet of historic documents on the history of the park.
So if your looking for the vacation of a lifetime, a chance to be a part
of a historical wonder, and sights beyond compare, then Yellowstone
National Park hopes to see you soon!
