We think technology is a valuable component to success- but often unaffordable or hard to use without the proper knowledge. So our goal is to make those tools and knowledge more available to you and provide ideas for solutions.
- Here are different ways to get involved with TechSoup. Our donations program is well known, and provide access to software and hardware donations for a small admin fee- I will go into depth about how to get involved with this. But we also have a learning centre on our site with articles on technology, a monthly bulleting, blog, social media, webinars and events- for instance webinar on Google Apps
- The donations program started out small- one guy driving around in a truck asking for handouts and helping nonprofits with tech needs- at the time, 1987, this was called compumentor. Over 20 years later it has grown… to include 25 donor partners and 300 products in 35 countries worldwide. Alpha Software – an easy-to-use, database software to build custom applications to better and more effectively manage agencies/databases. Customize queries…Atlas Software- Schedule Anywhere- lets you schedule and manage up to 250 staff and volunteers. Web Based. Access from any computer with a browser. Download and print schedules, request time off, tells you when you are short of staff. Also make Staff manager- holds HR information for up to 150 employees- tabs include performance evals, emergency numbers, wages, associated documents. Etc. Bytes of Learning- Software to help you learn computers- customized to meet nonprofits needs. It provides many options that adapt to a broad range of age groups and special needs. EasyLearning: Formerly, The International Commission on Workforce Development (ICWFD) – an e-Skills360° global initiative to address the key barriers to accessing e-learning through high-end technology. It provides access to more than 500 certification-level IT and professional development courses.CRM’sCitySoft Community Enterprise (CE) is open-source enterprise software for organizations to manage their operations, communications, and fundraising. - The most common question we get is- why don’t I qualify for Adobe?
- There are two levels of qualification- 1) your organization 2) By donor- each donor has their own specifications.
- Secular Community designation- defined as an organization separate from the church or religious organization that provides services to people regardless of their religious beliefs and does not propagate a belief in a specific faith.
- Once your order has been accepted and processed, the normal turnaround time for license requests is up to 14 days. You will receive: 1. Microsoft product media (ie: CDs) delivered by mail. 2. An email advising you that your Open License order has been accepted and processed by Microsoft, which will include: Your Authorization and License Agreement numbers. Directions on how to download licensing agreements from the Microsoft eOpen website. Product license key codes that can be used with the media to install the software. Please note that the Software Assurance for Microsoft expires after 2 years, but your licenses do not expire- Software Assurance is a Microsoft program that allows recipients to upgrade licenses to any new release of eligible products within two years of the initial request. This means free upgrades for software that comes with Software Assurance within this two-year period. Software Assurance replaces the need to request upgrades for your organization's volume licenses.
- Does your organization need some help developing a technical application, widget? Can you identify a problem that can be solved through technology? This competition connects the tech geek coder world with the social nonprofit world. Developers will use their tech/coding knowledge and work with nonprofits to help them resolve a need in their organization.Examples: FPYN- Frontline Partners with Youth Network (FPYN) are looking for a flexible, shared, user-friendly and collaborative way of managing time- so syncing with calendars and other tools that will ultimately help them provide critical information needed for reporting to funders.Colorectal CancerAssociation of Canada's (CCAC)- They are looking for a system that allows patients to track the symptoms and side effects they are experiencing on a daily basis, and then print off a report to bring to their doctor's appointment. OSAC- Ontario Saskatchewan Arts Councils- looking for a solution to manage the complexity of tour booking.
