Elected in 2003 to two-year term as president and chairman of 19-
member board of directors. Elected vice president-print in 1999
and secretary in 1995 and 1997. Previously served as president of Garden
State (N.J.) Association of Black Journalists, an afﬁliate chapter of NABJ.

staff and annual convention drawing more
than 3,000 delegates -- while fulﬁlling full-time
job as a criminal courts reporter at Newsday.

on Newsday.com for Long Island’s largest newspaper. Spent four-plus
years covering courts and the district attorney’s ofﬁce in Queens.
Notable coverage on death penalty, kidnapping, child-abuse and wrongful-
conviction cases. Initially, reporter assigned to Southeast Queens and, on
Sundays, City Hall with Mayors Rudolph Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
June 1993 to January 2000


City desk reporter last assigned to North Philadelphia, spotlighting
neighborhood essence and initiatives and major economic development. Initially
assigned as politics and government reporter in native Camden, N.J., and in
Camden and Burlington counties. Lead reporter on high-proﬁle Camden
mayoral election in 1995. Also reported on New Jersey governor’s race in 1993.
