How do I clean a garage floor?
1. How do I clean a garage floor?
Routine Cleaning
Sweep up dirt, leaves, grass, wrappers and other excess materials that sit on your garage floor. First
go around the garage with a push broom and afterward clean corners with an angled broom.
Organize any materials that you want to keep, such as tools or toys, into boxes or containers. Make
sure to dispose of any materials that could harm people, such as nails or broken glass.
Thorough Cleaning
Use a detergent solution or chemicals to get rid of oil or paint stains on your garage floor. Degreaser
often works on stains that are hard to remove. After you put chemicals on stains, let them sit for a
short period of time and then use a scrubber or cloth to wipe them up. Do not use turpentine, paint
thinner or gasoline to get rid of stains because they could damage your garage floor, according to
HGTV. A power washer can also help to remove some spots from your garage floor.
Flood Cleaning
Remove excess water from your garage if it fills with water during a heavy storm or flood. Use a
squeegee device to move the water and other materials, such as dirt, from your garage out into your
grass or driveway. You can also use a wet/dry vac or a mop to remove the water. You may need to
collect the water into a dustpan before disposing of it. Remove water as soon as possible to prevent
mold from developing.
