This includes Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase Adaptive Server, Oracle, and DB2. <br />As part of any P&T engagement, we use a detailed performance and tuning methodology that has been developed over many years to offer predefined deliverables that maximize the end-result of our customers.<br />Typically, our results include an improvement in database throughput ranging from 100% to 750% as well as a massive reduction in response times. <br />All of our P&T experts are certified in at least one database platform. <br />Moreover, we have authored database courses for the benefit of the database companies themselves, including the following: Sybase’s “Performance & Tuning Methodology” and Sybase’s “Physical Database Design”.<br />Database Architechs provides a quick (4-day) performance and tuning assessment to give you a head start in your search for highly performing system.<br />This 4-day engagement consists in:<br />A high-level discovery and gathering of Database and Application information (scope) that you want to improve performance and tune. <br />A high-level discovery of primary data access and service level agreements that are needed from the Database and Application. <br />A high-level discovery of the Database instance configuration and of the physical platform.<br />An identification of the potential problem areas and/or candidate issues.<br />Deliverables: <br />The high-level performance and tuning discovery is documented.<br />The high-level P&T areas of concern are identified (These comprise the top 10 worst performing Queries, the hot-spots at the DB and Disk level, and the locking and blocking issues, among other things)<br />The first configuration changes and/or recommendations regarding the database and the Server instance are made.<br />The high-level P&T next steps are identified.<br />Performance & Tuning Tools <br />We also have developed our own set of graphic performance and tuning tools for Sybase, Oracle, and, more recently, Microsoft SQL Server. <br />SQL Shot is an extremely helpful tool for isolating and resolving the most difficult performance and blocking and/or locking issues.<br />This Performance and Tuning Tool will be installed and used during the assessment.
