Generic Nexium Tablets are used to
treat many gastric problems. The active
ingredient contained in Generic Nexium
(Nexpro Tablets) is Esomeprazole

Indications
Generic Nexium Tablets (Esomeprazole
Magnesium) are used in the treatment of

4. Generic Nexium Tablets
Recommended Dosage
Generic Nexium tablets should be taken at least
one hour before meals.
Treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
(GERD)
Recommended Adult Dose: 20 mg or 40 mg Once
Daily for 4 to 8 Weeks
Pediatric Dose for 1-11 years: 10 mg or 20 mg
Once Daily, up to 8 Weeks
Pediatric Dose for 12-17 years: 20 mg or 40 mg
Once Daily, up to 8 Weeks

Risk Reduction of NSAID-Associated Gastric
Ulcer:
Recommended Adult Dose: 20 mg or 40 mg Once
Daily for up to 6 months
Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions

Recommended Adult Dose: 40 mg Twice Daily

Recommended Dosage
H. pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk of
Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence :
Triple Therapy:
The recommended adult dosage is Generic
Nexium 40 mg once daily for 10 Days,
Amoxicillin 1000 mg twice daily for 10 Days and
Clarithromycin 500 mgtwice daily for 10 Days.

7. Generic Nexium Tablets
Warnings and Precautions:
Symptomatic response to Generic Nexium
(Nexpro) does not preclude the presence of
gastric malignancy
Atrophic gastritis has been noted on biopsy
with long-term omeprazole therapy
Generic Nexium inhibits gastric acid secretion
and may interfere with the absorption of drugs
where gastric pH is an important determinant
of bioavailability.

8. Generic Nexium Tablets
Warnings and Precautions:
Patients treated with proton pump
inhibitors and warfarin concomitantly may
need to be monitored for increases in INR
and prothrombin time
Generic Nexium may reduce the plasma
levels of atazanavir
Concomitant treatment with a combined
inhibitor of CYP2C19 and CYP3A4, such
as voriconazole, may result in more than
doubling of the esomeprazole exposure.

9. Generic Nexium Tablets
Overdosage:
Overdose symptoms of Nexpro were
variable, but included confusion,
drowsiness, blurred vision, tachycardia,
nausea, diaphoresis, flushing,
headache, dry mouth, and other
adverse reactions similar to those seen
in normal clinical experience.
There is no specific antidote for
Esomeprazole. In the event of Generic
Nexium overdosage, treatment should
be symptomatic and supportive.

10. Generic Nexium Tablets
Contraindications
Generic Nexium is contraindicated in
patients with known hypersensitivity
to Esomeprazole Magnesium or any
inactive component of the medication
or to substituted benzimidazoles.
Hypersensitivity reactions like
angioedema and anaphylactic
reaction/shock have been known to
have occured with Generic Nexium
use.

Side Effects of Nexpro Tablets
Most common side effects due to Nexpro use:
Adult use (18 years of age and above) (incidence
rate of 1% or more):
Headache, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, abdominal
pain, constipation, and dry mouth
Pediatric use (1 - 17 years of age) (incidence rate
more than 1%):
Headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and
somnolence
