The new MFT1700 series is tough,
even tougher than its popular
predecessor.
It won’t go bang when connected across phases, when it gets
dropped or bounced, when it’s used in the rain, when the
wrong range is selected or when accidentally connected to live
circuits – even with the test locked on!
Dust and rain proof to IP54, the MFT1700 series offers CAT IV
safety, meaning that you can use it in any environment without
a second thought. To make it more convenient, test buttons
are located at either end of the tester meaning you can use the
hand that is available to initiate testing, or you can use the new
CAT IV probe with test button if you prefer.
Even the carry case has been re-thought. There is now room

the MFT1730 is a rechargeable
instrument.
Megger MTK300 test kits give electrical contractors all they
need to perform electrical inspection and testing for single and
three phase operations. The kits consist of three instruments,
an MIT insulation tester, an LTW 2-wire non-trip earth loop
tester and an RCDT residual current device tester, each with
batteries fitted, in a smart case, with a full set of test leads
and calibration certificates. Three kits are available: MTK310,
MTK320 and MTK330.
Megger has changed the MFT options on result storage and
downloading. The MFT1730 offers you both On-site certificate
filling by sending your current result to a storage device, smartphone, PDA, notebook or laptop, there and then on site, or the
ability to store the results of your tests to download to your
computer off site. The MFT1730 uses Bluetooth technology
to communicate because it’s fast, effective and there are no
additional leads to store.

In a scene reminiscent of a James Bond movie, an
aluminium flight case recently came flying from the
window of a speeding van on the M69 motorway. The case
contained the latest in electrical testing technology, in the
form of a Megger MTK320 electrical contractors’ test kit
that had been stolen from a vehicle belonging to a leading
electrical training provider.
Despite a rough landing at speeds close to
70 mph, the three testers that make up the kit survived
their ordeal completely unscathed. A thorough check in the
Megger calibration laboratory showed that none of the
instruments needed even the slightest of adjustments.

PPK200 series
How it works
PPK210
Comprises the MIT310 insulation and continuity tester which
tests at 250 V, 500 V and 1000 V, and the LRCD210 Loop and
RCD tester. The kit comes complete with test leads, carry and
storage case and free calibration certificates.
The separation of live and dead testing that you find with
the PPK test kits is really helpful if electrical testing is not
your main line of business.
Selecting the tester for live circuits reminds you of
the safety implications of working with live circuits.
Meanwhile you know you are working with the best
when you insulation test with a Megger tester.
The MIT310 insulation tester and LRCD210 loop and RCD tester
will take the bashing that testers receive when they are on site.
They are rubber armoured, and have an integral solid lid to
cover the display.
Choose the PPK210 Part P kit to certify an installation to Part
P of the Building Regulations. The included MIT310 insulation
tester provides all required insulation test voltages, enabling
testing of SELV and PELV circuits at 250 V d.c. and standard
installation wiring at 500 V d.c.
The LRCD200 series is the latest generation of combined
non-tripping loop test and RCD test instruments. They

How it works
Prevents continuity testing on live circuits
MIT300 series insulation testers are well balanced to hang
comfortably around your neck enabling hands free operation when
you need it.
The continuity test and buzzer start automatically when you connect
to a circuit, saving you time.
Insulation tests can be started using a switched probe or the test
button on the front of the tester.
The best place for a test button is on the probe.
By using a switched probe rather than a standard one there is
no longer a need to look away from the probe to find the TEST
button on the instrument, or use a third hand if both are already
holding the probes. Simply press the button already under your
finger.

MIT200 series
MIT220 and MIT230 are two of the
smallest insulation testers available
Both products have a combination of digital readout and
analogue display, using Megger’s patented DART display
technology. The display includes a clear, accurate digital readout, and an analogue pointer response for evaluating circuit
charge and discharge characteristics.
The tough ABS instrument housing is designed to withstand
the rigours of hard use, whilst small enough to drop into your
pocket when not in use. A low battery warning indicator gives
advanced warning of exhausted batteries.

8. 2-wire non-tripping loop testers

The instruments will operate from 50 v phase to earth, up to
2 wire testing
440 v phase to phase.
The loop test is performed with only 2 test leads. This can be
either:

n Phase to Neutral
n Phase to Phase (depending on model)
Testing is simple. There is no need for a third wire which could
cause confusion in identifying the part of the circuit under test.

or greater, using the non-trip loop test.

Noise detection on non-trip tests
LTW uses sophisticated noise detection circuitry which
continually monitors the supply during a loop test to ensure the
accuracy of the result has not been affected by electrical noise
from plant and services.

a) erforms a 10 second test and if noise is detected a warning

b) Automatically extends a test to improve the accuracy.

The RCDT tests not only Type A and Type AC RCDs, but also the
selective (time-delayed) variants of both types, performing 1⁄2I,
1I and 5I tests on RCDs rated at 30 mA, 100 mA, 300 mA and
500 mA tested at 0° or 180°.
The RCDT320 offers additional tests for RCDs rated at 10 mA
and 1000 mA.
Touch voltage is measured at the start of a test, and will
automatically inhibit if it exceeds the preset level.
Touch voltage inhibit is selectable from 25 V to 50 V.
Save your valuable time
RCDT320 offers additional time saving features.
Auto RCD testing – RCDT320 will automatically cycle through
the 1⁄2I, 1I and 5I tests at 0° or 180° recording the results, so you
can stay with and reset the RCD. This means the job gets done
faster, saving not only your time but your legs as well!
Ramp testing to measure the trip current of an RCD – the test
current is slowly increased from 1⁄2I to 1I+10%. The trip current
is held on the display, making it quicker and easier to diagnose
nuisance tripping.
RCDs on 110 V (55 V - 0 - 55 V) centre tapped site supplies can
be tested by the Megger RCDT320 due to its wide operating
voltage range of 50 V to 280 V.

How it works
Use the ‘ramp test’ to identify nuisance tripping RCDs.
An overly current sensitive or faulty RCD can cause
nuisance tripping of the RCD, which can be very difficult
to locate. A current clamp meter is not fast enough.
By testing with a ramp test, the test current is slowly
increased until the RCD trips. The tester displays the trip
current in milliamps (not the trip time). If this is too low,
replace the RCD.

PAT300 series
A choice of two fast PAT testers which offer the operator
manual and automatic operation without the complexity
of data storage. The PAT300 series allows the user to select
a range of tests, such as those for a CLASS I asset, simply by
pressing the “CLASS I“ button, and then initiate the test by
pressing the “TEST” button. When the results are displayed
they are coded green for a pass and red for a fail. However, if
a particular test needs to be repeated, there are direct access
buttons dedicated to specific tests. The instant-restart feature
speeds testing when moving from one room to another, restarting in exactly the same menu location where it was left.
PAT320 is the PAT tester for those electricians who occasionally
do testing and don’t want the complexity of database
management and are happy to write out certificates by hand.

The unit has been designed to provide a slow rotational speed

rotation.
The PSI410 also features a triple bi-coloured LED display
that indicates that all three phases are present. A green LED

NET200
Using a Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR) is a well established
method for finding the location of faults in metallic power or
data cables. In the past TDRs have had a reputation of being
expensive and difficult to use but now, the Megger TDR Mark3
series has put paid to that.
NET200 is the latest, all-in-one network qualification tool. It
measures logical network performance. It provides the roundtrip time (RTT) to measure network speed under dynamic
and static configuration protocol and IP scanning to show
the information on all the terminals connected into the local
network. It can also evaluate the capability of link connections
to support specific network speeds and duplexity (half- or fullduplex).
An AUTO selection option, fast pulse and built in blocking filter
ensures that the most effective selection depending on the
range required, helping rapid diagnosis of the TDR trace. In
addition on the TDR1000/3 and TDR1000/3P, dual cursors allow
complete flexibility, giving the operator full control and instant
indication of distance between two points.

The device provides the physical information of the LAN cable
under test such as; Cable length, distance to fault (open or
short) and wire map (pass, fail). With the graphic user interface
supplied by 128x64 LCD and serial communication port, field
engineers can easily apply the device to network testing,
transfer the stored data to their PCs and print reports via
software.
