2. Mission and Vision The Center for Reproductive Rights is a benevolent organization which uses the law to make reproductive freedom a fundamental human right that all governments are legally obligated to protectand respect. They imagine a world where every woman is free to decide whether and when to have children; where every woman has access to the best reproductive healthcare available; where every woman can exercise her choices without coercion or discrimination. But mostly, they are trying to achieve a world where every woman can participate with dignity and as an equal member of society. They have strengthened reproductive health laws and policies in more than 50 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin Americaand the Caribbean, as well as the United States.
3. Programs The Center for Reproductive Rights is working with the International Initiative on Maternal Mortality and Human Rights in order to combine advocacy, policy work, and other strategies to ensure that governments employ effective and fair policies and programs to reduce maternal mortality. The Initiative also promotes understanding among human right organizations that maternal deaths can be as much a human rights violation as vigilante executions, torture, and arbitrary detainment.
4. Community Need Young women across the world have a large need for organizations like the Center for Reproductive Rights, but there is also a demand right here in our own community. With funding being cut to larger organizations like Planned Parenthood, it is becoming harder and harder for young women to be in charge of their own bodies. The consensus in the government seems to be that it is ok for law makers (namely men) to determine what is best for our bodies and our futures. We must remain vigilant if we want to improve or even keep our rights. It is up to women and men everywhere to take a stand.
5. Just Think Foundation Just Think Foundation and the Center for Reproductive Rights could be well suited for each other because they share the common goal of betting the younger generation. Even though Just Think has a focus on technology, they still encourage young people to lead healthy, responsible and independent lives.
6. Critical Thinking A main goal of the Center for Reproductive Rights is to cultivate a society in which women are free to make any choice about their own body. If services such as birth control and pregnancy termination are no longer available to women, the effects could have a major effect on society, including more government assistant programs for people who cannot afford their child(ren). With sex education being cut from numerous schools, many young people don’t know or understand how to prevent an unwanted pregnancy or a sexually transmitted disease. The Center for Reproductive Rights can provide some helpful tools and information.
7. Critical Action The CRR collaborates with their attorneys who speak at school conferences, career panels, classes, and other events. Theyalso influence the law outside the courtroom by engaging policymakers. They report on violations on reproductive right and they help to monitor crisis pregnancy centers.
8. The purpose of The Center for Reproductive Rights is to help women lead healthy and independent lives. Hopefully the CRR will become a trellis for reproductive education worldwide.
